On the basis of previous studies of the glass formation range of borate systems and the relation of composition, refractive index and Abbe's number of borate glass, optical region of lanthanum borate glasses on nD-ν diagram and its possible limit of high refractive and low dispersive side were investigated. These lanthanum borate glasses contained oxides of Ti, Zr, Th, Nb, Ta, W, Ba, and Al, and their glass formation range of 4- or 5-component systems were studied. Then the refractive index and Abbe's number of lanthanum borate glasses were measured and from their data and following equations the component factors were calculated.nD=1.445+Σiai+Σibixi2ν=(nD-1)/(0.521+Σikixi)nDai, bi, ki and xi are component factors and molar fraction of MinOm.As a result, it has been proved that caluculated values show good agreement with experimental values. On the basis of this result, then, optical region was researched on nD-νdiagram. And the resulted limiting line of high refractive and low dispersive side passes every point of nD=1.70, ν=55; nD=1.80, ν=50; nD=1.90, ν=40 and nD=2.00, ν=35.

By using high-energy and high-brilliant synchrotron radiation source in ESRF and PF, an angle-dispersive powder x-ray diffraction study on oxygen has been carried out up to 117 GPa at room temperature. A new highpressure structural transition was observed at 96 GPa and explained as an isostructural one with a discontinuous change of lattice constants in a monoclinic cell. Metallization for oxygen reported by S. Desgreniers et al. [1] is ascribed to the transtion.

本研究では, キー・コンピテンシーを基にして, 理科教育において育成すべき資質・能力を, 協同的な問題解決によって科学概念を構築し表現する能力と捉えた。その育成を促す教授・学習方略の実践を行うことを目的として, Taylorらの提案した学習環境のデザインの枠組みである「構成主義に基づく学習環境の五つの鍵となる要素(five key dimensions of critical constructivist learning environment)」に基づいて理科授業を計画・実践した。実践した授業は, 小学校第4学年の空気の温度変化による体積変化の学習である。授業を分析した結果, (1)児童が協同的に問題解決を行っていた, (2)児童は自らの考えをパフォーマンスとして表出し, 学習を進める中で, それを深化させていた, (3)教師は児童のパフォーマンスをアセスメントし, それに基づいて支援を行っていた, ことが明らかになった。本研究で計画・実践した理科授業は, 資質・能力の育成を促す教授・学習方略が具現化されており, 理科授業を計画する枠組みとして, Taylorらの提案が有用であることが明らかになった。

Cyanobacteria are photosynthetic microorganisms that serve as experimental model organisms for the study of photosynthesis, environmental stress responses, and the production of biofuels. Genetic tools for bioengineering have been developed as a result of such studies. However, there is still room for improvement for the tight control of experimental protein expression in these microorganisms. Here, we describe an expression system controlled by a theophylline-responsive riboswitch that we have constructed in the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803. We demonstrate that, in response to different theophylline concentrations, this riboswitch can tightly control green fluorescence protein expression in Synechocystis. Thus, this system is useful as a tool for genetic engineering and the synthetic biology of cyanobacteria.

Chinese suspension bridges, which have been developed in the different way compared with the modern suspension bridges in 19 century, are reviewed based on the quotations taken from historical books published by various districts in China. In Chapter 3, Chinese suspension bridges are classified into 4 categories, and developments of style from category I to IV are explained due to the quotations. In Chapter 4, the most important property of Chinese suspension bridges, that is the use of iron chain, is explained and some quotations are introduced. In Chapter 5, developments of Chinese suspension bridges are compared with those of European bridges.

The flowering response to monochromatic light and flowering-related genes underlying this response need to be characterized to efficiently use light-emitting diodes for lighting culture. The flowering response to far-red light has been well studied in long-day cut flowers, but there have been few studies investigating the response to blue light. Flowering and the expression of the G. paniculata homologs of the FLOWERING LOCUS T and SUPPRESSOR OF OVEREXPRESSION OF CONSTANS 1 genes (GpFT, GpSOC1) were not previously promoted in Gypsophila paniculata, an important long-day cut flower, ‘Bristol Fairy’ under long-day conditions with blue light. In the present study, we found that flowering was promoted in another G. paniculata ‘Million Star’, under long-day conditions with blue light, suggesting that there is variation in G. paniculata’s flowering response to blue light. Therefore, we analyzed the expression of GpFT and GpSOC1 in the ‘Million Star’. The expression of GpFT and GpSOC1 was promoted with flowering in ‘Million Star’ under long-day conditions with blue light in contrast to ‘Bristol Fairy’. We next analyzed the G. paniculata homologs (GpFKF1, GpGI) of FLAVIN-BINDING KELCH REPEAT F-BOX 1 and GIGANTEA genes, which participate in the flowering response to blue light. GpFKF1 and GpGI amino acid sequences were well conserved; gene expression showed a diurnal rhythm with different peaks under short-day and long-day conditions, as previously observed in Arabidopsis thaliana. GpFKF1 interacted with GpGI. There were no important differences in GpFKF1 or GpGI amino acid sequences between the two cultivars. Our results suggest that variation in the flowering response to blue light is associated with GpFT and GpSOC1, rather than GpFKF1 and GpGI.

The first generation of 10 membered ring analogues (11-13) of the neocarzinostatin chromophore (1) could undergo the thiol or radical triggered Masamune-Bergman type cycloaromatization, but they were not able to show the antibiotic nor antitumor activities. New analogues (2729) of the second generation exhibited the remarkable DNA cleaving activities as well as the biological activities. The unprecedented guanine specific DNA cleavage by the simple chiral alcohol 28 is striking, while the complex of the possible intercalator 29 with the neocarzinostatin apoprotein (2) did not show an evident specificity.

The molecular design and chemical synthesis of novel and artificial enediyne classes of DNA cleaving molecules 14, and their chemical and DNA cleaving profiles are described. The enediyne sulfides 1aI were synthesized via the coupling of the vinyl iodide 8 and the protected propargyl alcohol 9, and the intramolecular cyclization of the dibromide 17. 1b was found to cycloaromatize by 1, 8-diazabicyclo [5.4.0] undec-7-ene (DBU) in 1, 4-cyclohexadiene through radical pathways and by a hydroxy anion in dimethyl sulfoxide-Tris-HCl, pH 8.5 buffer through a polar pathway. 1aI cleaved DNA under weakly alkaline conditions, and 1e, 1k and 1l, all of which have a DNA intercalatable moiety, exhibited strong DNA cleaving activities with the identical high purine base (G>A) selectivity. The enediyne triols 2ac were prepared from xylitol (19) via the conversion of the keto-aldehyde 24 into the keto-enediyne 25 by an intramolecular aldol reaction. 2a was also cycloaromatized in a manner similar to that for the enediyne sulfide, and 2ac showed guanine-specific DNA cleavages under weakly alkaline conditions. The enynallene sulfones 3af were obtained by m-CPBA oxidation of the corresponding enediyne sulfides. 3c was cycloaromatized by DBU through both radical and polar pathways. 3af cleaved DNA at any DNA-base site under weakly alkaline conditions, and 3df possessing a hydrophilic moiety exhibited stronger DNA cleavages. The dienediynes 4ac were synthesized from 25. 4c possessing acetoxy groups at the propargylic positions was cycloaromatized by methyl thioglycolate through radical pathways, and cleaved DNA at any pH with guanine-base selectivity. Furthermore, the DNA cleaving activity of 4c significantly increased in the presence of methyl thioglycolate.

11種の置換ベンズアルデヒド (M2) とスチレン (M1) とのカチオン共重合を, 主としてトルエンを溶媒とし, BF3OEt2を触媒として0℃で行なった。 置換ベンズアルデヒドとしては, オルト置換ベンズアルデヒド (置換基: メトキシ基, クロル基, ニトロ基, ヒドロキシ基) ・メタ置換ベンズアルデヒド (置換基: ニトロ基, ホルミル基) ・パラ置換ベンズアルデヒド (置換基: メトキシ基, メチル基, クロル基, ニトロ基, ホルミル基) を用いた。 これらの共重合では, すべて50mol%以下のアルデヒド単位が含まれるポリエーテルが生成した。 たとえば, p-メトキシベンズアルデヒドおよびp-クロルベンズアルデヒドとスチレンとの共重合での, Mayo-Lewisの微分交点法によって決めた単量体反応性比MRRは, 次のようである。スチレンーp-メトキシベンズアルデヒド:r1=0.10±0.002, r2=0±0.01スチレンーp-クロルベンズアルデヒド:r1=0.45±0.08, r2=0±0.02また, これらの共重合条件下での, 置換ベンズアルデヒドの単独重合は困難であるので, この方法によらずr2=0と仮定して, 新たな方法で, それぞれの共重合の値を算出した。 パラ置換ベンズアルデヒドのスチリルカチオン (M1+) への相対反応性 (1/r1) は, 置換基の電気的効果あるいは, カルボニル酸素の塩基性に依存することが明らかになった, オルト置換ベンズアルデヒドにおいても, r1値は相当するパラ異性体とほぼ同じであり, メトキシ基, クロル基, ニトロ基などの置換基の立体障害によるr1値への影響は, それほど重要でなく, 主として置換基の電気的効果によって, 反応性が定まることが明らかになった。

The crystal structure of the fentanyl base (C22H28N2O) is monoclinic, P21/n. The unit-cell dimensions at 293 K are a = 5.69263(10)Å, b = 25.1851(5)Å, c = 13.8608(3)Å, β = 104.2037(7)°. The R value is R = 0.0626 for 2208 reflections. The piperidine ring has a near-ideal chair conformation. In the packing, the intermolecular T-shaped π/π interactions were observed.

Historically chemical automation was started in the field of analytical chemistry and until around 1992 only a few instrument makers and laboratories had studied the automation of organic synthesis chemistry (1st stage). Along side the growth of combinatorial chemistry, considerable attention has since been paid to developing automated synthesis apparatus and the accompanying peripheral apparatus, especially for the efficient development of new drugs in pharmaceutical companies (2nd stage). Recently many kinds of special-purpose automated modules and units have been developed for solid and solution phase synthesis, especially for high throughput parallel synthesis, isolations and purifications.In this report, I will briefly look at the history of laboratory automation, offer some advice on how to carry it out and then describe some future prospects.
