Pyrrhotite (Po) occurs as inclusions and as isolated crystals in pumice from the 1914-15 eruption of the Sakurajima volcano, Kyushu, Japan. The Po crystals have partly reacted to form spongy Fe oxides. A similar texture has been reported in some previous studies (Hattori, 1993), but the mineral phases and formation processes of the spongy Fe oxides have not been clarified. Our quantitative and compositional map analyses with electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) reveal that the spongy Fe oxides are mostly magnetite (Mt), with a thin rim (<3 μm) of hematite on rare occasions. The spongy texture includes unreacted regions of Po, mesh-like pores, and S-rich spots, showing that it was formed by desulfidation of Po. No Ti was detected, even in the outermost rim; this indicates that the reaction occurred syn-eruptively. According to diffusion calculations, the spongy Mt was formed during the 4 h preceding quenching. Thermodynamic calculations showed that Po is stable at log fO2 < NNO + 2 at a pressure of 1 bar and magmatic temperature, which is 1-2 log units higher than the usual magmatic fO2. These constraints on the timing and oxidation condition of desulfidation lead to the conclusion that the reaction was caused by oxidation of the magma in a shallow volcanic conduit, not in magma chamber processes. The pumice groundmass consists mostly of glass, indicating that the rate of the desulfidation reaction is faster than the decompression-induced crystallization of microlites in the andesitic magma. Therefore, the desulfidation reaction of Po has the potential to be used as a geospeedometer for very fast magma ascent in vigorous explosive eruptions.

High-multiplicity proton–proton collisions at the LHC may exhibit collective phenomena such as elliptic flow. We study this issue using DIPSY, a brand-new Monte Carlo event generator which features almost-NLO BFKL dynamics and describes the transverse shape of the proton including all fluctuations. We predict the eccentricity of the collision as a function of the multiplicity and estimate the magnitude of elliptic flow. We suggest that flow can be signaled by a sign change in the four-particle azimuthal correlation.

Studiando il canto 26mo dell' Inferno, non mi e mai sembrato che ci fosse un vero contrasto, fra l' Ulisse della tradizione classica, cambiato in fiamma, pre avere istigato il tranello del cavallo di Troia e la confessione che Ulisse stesso fa, raccontando la storia del suo naufragio. che secondo Dante e anche la causa della sua discesa nell' Inferno. Alcuni commentatori troppo abituati a leggere la Divina Commedia, come un racconto oggettivo di un viaggio immaginario del poeta, che una esperienza intima esistenziale di Dante, hanno sentito il contrasto, e per spiegarlo hanno dovuto ricorrere all' ormai troppo vecchio strattagemma, di dividere la personalita del poeta in due, facendolo giudicare alcune volte come poeta ed altre come teologo. Secondo me, Ulisse, che non e altro che un simbolo, per Dante, simbolo di un male da evitare, comincia con insegnare inganni e termina ingannando se stesso, attribuendosi falsamente, e qui l' inganno, la forza di poter sorpassare i limiti fissati dagli Dei.La confidenza esagerata, frutto del successo avuto ingannando gli altri, lo conduce naturalmente ad avere una tale fiducia nel potere della sua intelligenza da osare persino di sorpassare i limiti fissati da Dio.Mi sembra dunque, che il secondo Ulisse non sia che una conclusione logica del primo, perche infondo fra il primo Ulisse, quello della tradizione classica, ed il secondo quello inventato da Dante, c' e la medesima relazione di quella che esiste fra causa ed effetto, e chi oserebbe vedere un solo contrasto anche se non contradizione, fra la causa e l' effetto ?

近年、Microsoft Kinectなど身体的なインタラクションが可能なゲーミングインタフェースが多数開発され、市販されるようになっている。著者らは、テーブルトップインタフェースに視線計測を組み込むことで、視線とタッチを組み合わせた新たなアプリケーションが制作可能なEye-Tracking Tabletop Interface(以下ETTI)を開発している。本研究では、ETTIのコンテンツとして、人が物を取る際に先に目で対象物を見てから取るという特性に着目して、テーブルトップ対戦型百人一首ゲーム”百人eye首”を開発している。また、エンタテインメントコンピューティング2010においてデモンストレーションを行い、システムの有効性を確認している。

Two experiments were conducted to identify the role of lyrics and melody in song recognition. Experiment 1 (N=30) investigated the ratings of familiarity, age of acquisition, retrievability of lyrics or melody, and happiness for 100 Japanese children's songs. In Experiment 2 (N=31), a familiarity-judgment task was conducted involving three stimulus types—sung lyrics (SONG), spoken lyrics (LYRICS), and sung melody using the syllable/la/ (MELODY) —for two excerpts (beginning and middle locations). The participants were instructed to judge whether an excerpt sounded familiar as quickly as possible. The more familiar the songs, the easier could they be identified from the three stimulus types. SONG-response time (RT) was shorter than MELODY-RT for both beginning and middle, and than LYRICS-RT for the middle. The location effect emerged most prominently for LYRICS-RT. Our results suggest that interactively connected information of lyrics and melody may facilitate song recognition. Lyrics in the beginning might be an index only for certain, very familiar songs, whereas melody may play a facilitative role for song recognition regardless of location.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the significance of coeducational home economics. In order to achieve this purpose, two surveys were carried out, before and after the introduction of coeducational home economics. The first survey was conducted in 1990, and the second in 1998. In both surveys, the same questionnaires were used. The major findings were as follows. 1. Male students who studied home economics accepted diverse family styles, had an intimate attitude towards their family, and had views toward sex roles less influenced by gender. And they participated in household work actively than male students who didn't study home economics. 2. Female students who studied home economics in a coeducational class room accepted diverse family styles, and had views toward sex roles less influenced by gender. 3. Male students who studied home economics in coeducational class room showed higher degree of "readiness for parenthood" than male students who studied home economics in male only class room. By surveys of university students and adults, impressions of home economics have been changing. They who studied coeducational home economics acknowledged studying home economics.

In this paper, a novel single-phase sinusoidal PWM voltage source inverter (VSI) is proposed. The inverter has an additional arm to the normal single-phase bridge circuit. The two auxiliary self-turn-off devices of the branch avail to adopt the composite PWM control, which contributes to reduce the ripple in the ac output current. Also, the inverter has a LC series resonance circuit tuned to twice the system frequency f, which is connected in parallel with the smoothing capacitor on the dc side. This absorbs the ac component included the dc pulsating current with 2f. Consequently, the capacity of the smoothing capacitor is drastically reduced. As an example of the application of this VSI, the utility connected residential photovoltaic power generation system is shown. In the system, the smooth dc current without pulsation is supplied from PV array, and the VSI provides a sinusoidal ac current for domestic lords and the utility line.

我々が日常行っているコミュニケーションに関して,エスノメソドロジーは数々の知見をもたらしたが,その一つとして複数の「世界経験」の競合と,そこからの「選択」をめぐる「皮肉」の効力の発見をあげることができる。しかし,エスノメソドロジー自体は, 「皮肉」がなぜこのような効力をもつのかを説明していない。本稿は, 「意味不安」を仮説することで,この間題に回答を試みるものである。すなわち,ひとびとは,日常において「意味不安」をかかえつつもそれを抑圧して意味経験をしている。しかし,その独特な「ダブルバインド」性という仕掛けでもって「意味の両義性」へとひとを直面させてしまう「皮肉」をいわれることで,ひとは自らの「意味不安」を励起させる。しかも「皮肉」を発話する者は二つの意味を使用しているわけだから,皮肉者は両者の文脈をみとおしつつもなお自分の立派に立脚しているように,被皮肉者には映ずる。よって,皮肉者の意味使用の方が妥当性がたかいように被皮肉者には映ずる。その結果,被皮肉者は皮肉者の意味使用(=世界解釈)に服する蓋然性が高まる。このような仮説的回答案を我々は提起する。

Speech disfluency has lately attracted considerable attention in the study of spontaneous speech. In one tradition, disfluencies are treated as the outcome of cognitive processes that run purely inside the speaker. In a second tradition, they are viewed as the result of certain strategies by which the speaker can have an effect on the addressees. This paper reviews our recent studies on disfluencies in Japanese spontaneous speech, putting particular emphasis on their functions in speech communication. Three studies, on word repetitions, fillers, and prolongation, are described in detail and discussed from the viewpoint of communicative strategies.

本稿は,「国民たすけあい」理念の歴史的な検討を通じて,社会福祉研究の立場から共同性の今日的な可能性を考えることを目的としている.敗戦後,民間社会事業に対する公費助成が禁止されたことを受けて,その財源確保のための全国的キャンペーンとして厚生省の主導で共同募金運動が開始された.発足当初の共同募金運動では,"共同社会構成員の義務"と"国民たすけあい"という2つの運動理念が掲げられた.前者は厚生省の発案による理念で,後者は同胞援護会によって実施されていた同胞援護運動の延長にある理念であった.共同性をめぐる理念の歴史をたどり,そのなかでこれら2つの運動理念を相対化したとき,前者は社会連帯からのつながりに,後者は隣保相扶からのつながりにあったことが分かる.図式的には,前者の理念を実質化するために不可欠な役割を果たしたのが後者の理念であった.隣保相扶,社会連帯,国民たすけあいの各理念に共通する特徴は,今日の共同性をめぐる議論をとらえ直す際に重要な視点となる.
