Archaeological excavations show the importance of iron swords: During the tumulus period, the power of the great king (later emperor) expanded. Myths and archaeological findings attest to the introduction of metallurgy from the continent and subsequent production of iron weapons which resulted in 1) the unification of the country by a great king, 2) the construction of huge tumuli by the ruling class to show their prestige, and 3) the worship of the iron sword and related myths about its power. Such worship of iron swords is told about the Scythians by Herodotus. In the Arthurian legends, the sword Excalibur is the source of the power and prestige of King Arthur. The worship of the ironsword as a divinity might have spread from the Scythians to both ends of the Eurasian continent, west to the Celts and east to the Japanese.

本研究の目的は、前調査において項目を集めたPCAGIP法の評価尺度について因子分析および信頼性の検証を行い、評価に影響を与える要因について検討することである。PCAGIP法の実施と調査は養護教諭を目指す学生46人を対象とし、3回のセッションを合わせのべ111人分のデータを用いた。最尤法・プロマックス回転を用いて因子分析を行った結果、5因子が抽出され「難しさ」「省察」「理解の深まり・広がり」「示唆」「受容的な雰囲気」と命名された。5つの下位尺度のクロンバックのα係数は .75~.84を示し、高い信頼性が確認できた。セッションによる評価の違いを検討したところ、1回目より2回目または3回目の評価が高くなり、「難しさ」の1回目と3回目の間に有意差が見られた。2回目と3回目は『金魚鉢』より『金魚』の評価が高く、2回目の「省察」「理解の深まり・広がり」において有意差が見られた。また、「受容的雰囲気」の評価が高い群は低い群に比べて「理解の深まり・広がり」「示唆」の評価が高かった。This study aimed to perform a factor analysis on and verify the reliability of the Evaluation Scale for PCAGIP, which comprises items determined in a preliminary survey, and to examine the factors that influence PCAGIP score. We implemented the PCAGIP and conducted the survey among 46 students of a yoga teacher training course and used date pertaining to all three sessions, representing a total of 111 individuals. As a result of the Maximum-Likelihood factor analysis, we extracted five factors and names them "difficulty," "reflection", "deepening/broadening understanding," suggestions," and "accepting atmosphere." The Cronbach's alphas for the five subscales were in the range of .75-.84, indicating strong reliability. When we examined inter-session score differences, we found that score were higher in session 2 or session 3 than in session 1. We also found a significant difference in the session "difficulty" score between sessions 1 and 3. When we examined differences by role, we found that scores for "kingyobachi" were higher than those for "Kingyo" in session 1. In sessions 2 and 3, scores for "Kingyo" were higher than those for "kingyobachi," and we observed a significant difference in the session 2 scores for "reflection," and "deepening/broadening understanding." Compared to respondents with low overall scores for "accepting atmosphere," those with high overall scores in this item gave higher scores for "deepening/ broadening understanding" and "suggestions."

Morphological features of the mandible were evaluated by cephalometric analysis of 44 patients with surgically operated skeletal mandibular protrusion. The results were as follows:1. The mandibular condyle was narrow and long and the condyle was high in the mandibular protrusion. Mandible and mandibular body were long, mandibular notch was deep, gonial angle was wide and the ramus inclined forward.2. The small anteroposterior diameter of the mandibular condyle were related to the long mandibular length, the long mandibular body length, the high ramus height and the forward inclined ramus. High condylar height was related to the long mandibular length, the short anteroposterior diameter of the ramus, the wide gonial angle and the forward inclined ramus.3. From these findings, it might be suggested that the mandible in patients with surgically operated skeletal mandibular protrusion had the characteristics of underdevelopment.

A simple machine for making hyperboloid lenses has been developed. This machine utilizes a simple geometry of hyperbola. A plastic rod can be easily cut into hyperboloid lens within 10 minutes and the obtained surface of hyperboloid lens is rather smooth. This simple machine is very useful for preparing experimental optical systems with very small aberration in laboratories.

二つの根付きの非順序木の同型判定を行う線形時間アルゴリズムとして, 辞書式ソートを用いる方法がよく知られている.本論文では, 辞書式ソートを用いない線形時間アルゴリズムを提案する.二つの方法を計算機実験により比較したところ, 本方法の方が30〜50%程度高速であった.

2005年愛知万博の会場予定地,海上の森を特徴づける湿地生態系の成因を明らかにするために,河川の河床縦断形の測量と豊水期と渇水期の河川流量・水質を計測する水文地形学的な調査を行った.その結果,砂礫層地域では,砂礫層中に挟まれるシルト層・粘土層が河床縦断形の遷急点を形成し,比流量が大きく,そこから湧出する地下水によって湿地が形成されていることが明らかとなった.本地域の地質構造は,地殻変動によって緩やかに西方に傾く構造となっている.基盤の花崗岩類と砂礫層が接触する基底面および砂礫層に挟まれるシルト層も西方に傾斜しており,流域を越えて西方に向かう大規模な地下水流動が推定された.花崗岩地域では,断層が地下水流動の水みちとなっている可能性が高いことを指摘した.万博関連の環境影響評価調査は,個々の調査自身はハイレベルであるが,その解釈と評価は恣意的であり,間違った結論を導き出している.特に,湿地生態系に大きな影響があると思われる深層地下水に関しては,調査もされていないことは基本的に問題であることを指摘した.

Occupational trichloroethylene (TCE) exposure can induce life-threatening generalized dermatitis accompanied by hepatitis: TCE hypersensitivity syndrome (HS). Since the patients’ exposure levels have not been fully clarified, this study estimated end-of-shift urinary concentrations of trichloroacetic acid (TCA) and their lower limit below which the disease occurrence was rare. TCA concentration was measured in 78 TCE HS patients whose urine was collected at admission between 2nd and 14th d after their last shift. Then a linear regression model was used to calculate the mean TCA concentration with 95% confidence interval (95% CI) and 95% prediction interval (95% PI) in the end-of-shift urine. The estimated mean concentration was 83 (95% CI, 49–140) mg/l with 95% PI 9.6–720 mg/l. TCA concentrations were also measured in the end-of-shift urine of 38 healthy workers involved in the same job as were the patients. The geometric mean and its 95% CI were 127 mg/l and 16–984 mg/l, respectively. The exposure levels in HS patients might have thus overlapped with those in workers without HS. Accordingly, it was suggested that HS occurred in the environment where the workers were exposed to the TCE concentration corresponding to the urinary TCA concentration as low as 10 mg/l.

「プロジェクション・サイエンス」とは,人間の認知機構を解明するためのまったく新しい方法論であるとともに,そのモデル論的理解をとおして工学的応用までも射程に収めた野心的な構想である.本稿では,特に「サードマン現象」に注目し,VRおよびエージェント技術を用いた身体投射システムを提案する.さらに,本研究をとおして「虚投射」および一人称と三人称の視点変換のメカニズムの解明が重要であることを示す.

造血幹細胞移植患者は骨髄抑制,免疫抑制に加え,消化管毒性・合併症による経口摂取制限や腸管からの吸収障害を来し,異化が亢進するため,適切な栄養管理を受けなければ,容易に低栄養となり,感染症や臓器障害などの合併症を招く。各移植施設の栄養サポートの基本方針のもと,全ての移植患者に対し,栄養アセスメントと個別の栄養サポートを実施すべきである。Bacterial translocationに関連した敗血症を防ぎ,消化管機能を早期に回復させるため,安易に禁食にせず,低微生物食による経口栄養サポートをなるべく続けるべきである。経口摂取量の不足を経静脈栄養によって補うことが基本的な栄養学的介入となる。近年,経腸栄養の導入も増加している。いずれにせよ,抗酸化物質,グルタミン,脂肪酸,グルコースといった重要な栄養素を適切に利用すべきである。栄養アセスメントと栄養学的介入は,移植を成功に導く重要な要素である。
