Here is an early photograph of Christopher Carrothers, an American Yatoi teacher and ex-Presbyterian missionary. It was taken in May, 1880 at Akita Normal School where he was teaching English. Previously it has only been viewed by a limited number of alumni. The only other known picture of Carrothers in Japan is one which was taken in 1892 when he was leaving Kanagawa Normal School.In this paper, in addition to the introduction of the photograph, explanatory remarks are made about several persons in the picture. The people included are the Governor of the Prefecture, the Principal and other teachers and some graduating students who were taught by Carrothers. These students grew up to be a politician who was also a journalist and banker; a mayor and entrepreneur; mining and agricultural engineers; teachers at their old school; a librarian, and so on.

After teaching English at the Normal School of Akita for three years, Christopher Carrothers left the town in summer, 1882.The townspeople may have long forgotten him when they found his name in an article of a Tokyo newspaper in September, 1913. The contributor was Kohkichi Odake, an ex-member of the feminist group Seitoh (so named after the Blue Stockings).She reported her recent visit to Akita to the grave of a young girl named Nobuko Tazaki, who had committed suicide when she was disappointed in love for Carrothers, as Odake understood.Another article to refute her understanding appeared in a local newspaper immediately after her report, claiming that Carrothers had murdered his love because he had found her burdensome on leaving the town.The truth about the girl's death was left unknown when Carrothers had left the town for good. Today few people in Akita know of either of them, but the girl's grave, with English inscriptions apparently testifying to Carrothers's commitment to its building, remains where Odake visited it 80 years ago.The report of the visit to the girl's grave made by the feminist Odake arouses our interest in contrasting the two women, who seem to share unconventionality in their ways of life.

大規模な地震災害直後に被災地において救助・支援活動を行うためには、車両の移動経路を確立することが必要となる。そのためには広域道路情報を早期に迅速に把握することが必要となる。この目的のため、撮影時に災害による影響を受けにくく、広域に渡り早期に情報を得られる航空画像を用いることは有効である。本研究では、地震災害発生後に撮影された航空画像とディジタル地図を用いて、都市部における建物倒壊による道路閉塞領域を抽出する手法を提案する。具体的には、エッジや色情報を用い、道路被害や建物倒壊が発生している場所を抽出し、それらの隣接関係を用いることにより高精度に道路閉塞状況を抽出するものである。提案手法に基づき計算機上にソフトウェアを作成して実際の航空画像を解析し、手法の有効性を示した。

Le présent article a pour but de montrer que l'étude de la fable racontée dans le <I>Kojiki</I> (<I>Le Dit des choses anciennes</I>) constitue une tâche indispensable à la véritable compréhension de I'Etat antique japonais (<I>Ritsuryôsei-kokka</I>). L'ensemble, précédé d'une introduction et suivi d'une conclusion, est composé de quatre parties. Après avoir indiqué dans l'introduction l'objectif de cette étude, nous avons procédé, dans la première partie «L'Etat antique selon Ishimoda Sho», à un examen critique des travaux de ce grand historien qui ont profondément marqué l'image et la compréhension actuelles de I'Etat antique japonais pour signaler qu'il manque tout de même, dans ses élaborations, une pièce essentielle concernant l'aspect idéologique de I'Etat antique en gestation entre la fin du 7<SUP>e</SUP> siècle et le debut du 8<SUP>e</SUP> siècle. A travers l'analyse du discours prononcé en 697 par I'empereur Monmu à l'occasion de son intronisation (deuxième partie «La justification de la royauté selon la fable du<I>Kojiki</I> »), à travers aussi celle de la grande fête Kinen pour la prospérité et la fertilité (troisième partie «La communauté cérémoniale») et, enfin, à travers la considération des divers titres accordés au roi (quatrième partie «La communauté cérémoniale et le lien roi-sujet»), nous avons mis en lumière le fait que l'arrière-fond de tout cela nest en fait rien d'autre que l'histoire mythique relatée dans le <I>Kojiki</I>. En somme, nous avons voulu souligner qu'il faut nécessairement se tourner vers cette oeuvre fondatrice, si l'on veut saisir I'Etat antique sous tous ses aspects. Enfin, pour terminer, un regard critique dirigé vers l'histoire des recherches sur cette période de I'histoire du Japon nous a permis de conclure à l'absence de réflexions approfondies sur la fable du <I>Kojiki</I> dans le champ des sciences historiques. Nous avons voulu ainsi attirer l'attention sur la nécessité de reprendre tout le dossier afin de construire une autre image de l'Etat antique japonais.

本研究の目的は、タブレット型携帯端末を用いた小児糖尿病自己管理支援システムを活用し、1型糖尿病を持つ子どものセルフケア能力と自己効力感に関する効果を検証することである。糖尿病サマーキャンプに参加した1型糖尿病を持つ9歳〜18歳の15名を対象に、開発した専用アプリから、血糖値等のデータ入力を依頼し、システム使用前、使用直後、1か月後の糖尿病セルフケア行動尺度及び自己効力感尺度得点の変化を分析した。システムの評価は、アプリの評価得点とシステム使用時の子どもの反応から分析した。セルフケア行動尺度得点は、キャンプ終了後に有意な上昇を認めた。システムを楽しく活用して自己のデータを記録し、グラフ画面で各データを一元的に見て自身のデータを振り返ることで、自己の行動やインスリン量と血糖コントロールを容易に関連づけて考えることが可能になり、血糖コントロールに関する気づきや意欲を引き出す効果が示唆された。

一つの組織を対象にして時系列的かつ定期的に調査を行うことで横断的調査では見えなかった事実が分かってくる.本稿では,日本企業X社について,大規模な組織再編を挟んで10年近くにわたり,9回,定期的かつ継続的に全数調査してきたデータを取り上げる.その結果,見通し指数と満足比率の間には直接的因果関係があるが,自己決定度と満足比率の間の関係は疑似相関である可能性が高いことが分かった.
