太陽黒点と地球気象との相関は,超高層に於いて顕著であるが地球表層附近に於いてはその気象を決める一要素となると思われる。太陽のコロナの温度が太陽表面の温度よりもはるかに高いのはコロナに於いて熱の蓄積がある為と思われる。太陽活動に関する諸現象は太陽はガス体なので本来的に確率論で説明されると思われる。太陽面に異常現象がありこれがかなり長く続いた場合地球大気の上層への影響は大きいだろう。

We investigated the resistance to stem blight disease (Phomopsis asparagi (Sacc.)) in the progeny of two combinations of interspecific crosses between Asparagus officinalis (sensitive) and Asparagus A. kiusianus (resistant) in an effort to produce resistant cultivars. The progeny showed different degrees of disease severity, depending on the combination of crosses. Most of the hybrids derived from AO0060 (A. officinalis) × AK0501 (A. kiusianus) showed high disease resistance comparable to that of A. kiusianus. The results indicate that disease resistance could be introduced from A. kiusianus into A. officinalis, and that the selection of an appropriate cross combination is important for the production of disease-resistant cultivars. We analyzed the parents and hybrids of reciprocal crosses between A. officinalis and A. kiusianus using derived cleaved amplified polymorphic sequence markers to investigate the inheritance of the chloroplast genome, whose inheritance and genetic characteristics are not yet known. The chloroplast DNAs were inherited from the maternal parent, indicating that no major genes related to stem blight resistance were found in the chloroplast DNA.

In this paper, I attempt to analyzes "Business ideology" as a decisive element in management and entrepreneurship. Then, I go on to examine comparatively the role it played in Tokugawa era and Meiji, Taisho, and Showa era in Japan. We observe that the spirit or ethics in the business values of Tokugawa era and the business ideology of merchant's household is similar to what we find in entrepreneur in Meiji, Taisho, and Showa era. They all emphasize the virtues of diligence, frugality, honesty, patience, and confidence in profit-making. If we compare the business ideology of Bill Gates with that of Soichiro Honda, clear similarities as well as differences will be found. Diligence, frugality and profit-making are the same values for these two persons. Then, I go on to touch upon the business ideology of the new entrepreneurs in the 21 st century.

Background The aim of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy of α-human atrial natriuretic peptide (hANP) in cardiac surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB). Methods and Results A prospective randomized study was conducted with 150 patients who underwent scheduled coronary artery bypass grafting to compare a group of patients receiving 0.02 μg · kg-1 · min-1 of hANP from the initiation of CPB with a group not receiving hANP. Hemodynamics, levels of atrial and brain natriuretic peptides (BNP), angiotensin-II and aldosterone, renin activity, and left ventricular (LV) function were examined. The hANP group showed significantly lower renin activity and lower levels of angiotensin-II and aldosterone during the early postoperative period, compared with the non-hANP group. The incidence of postoperative ventricular arrhythmia and the postoperative peak level of creatine kinase-MB were significantly lower in the hANP group. BNP at 1 month after surgery and measures of LV function were also significantly lower in the hANP group. Conclusions Low-dose continuous infusion of hANP during cardiac surgery not only had a compensatory effect for the imperfections of CPB during the early postoperative period but also an inhibitory effect on postoperative LV remodeling and a reduction in ischemia/reperfusion injury. hANP should be part of the postoperative care for cardiac surgery. This essay provides an" ethnography of ethnography" through investigating and advocating certain research methodologies referred to as "Gonzo Anthropology." Ethnography is viewed as a process entailing both actual research, especially participant observation, and discourse, i.e. some form of cultural representation. In this way the ethnographic process can be seen as a form of cultural performance; the ethnographer is an actor, director, recorder of events, writer, artist and audience all in one. These ideas will be explored through an analysis of the work ofHunter S. Thompson, the founder of gonzo methods. The application of performance theory will be illustrated through brief cultural descriptions of Hare Krishnas and deaf people in Japan. This essay is a product of years of study, application, consideration and reconsiderations ofethnographic research that aims to provide important, relevant and interestingdialogue for multiple and multivocal actors and audiences.

Various nondestructive and breakdown tests were conducted with the two types of traction motors of electric locomotives of JNR which had been in service for many years. This paper describes nondestructive and breakdown characteristics. As the insulation resistance and tan δ are subject to environmental conditions such as humidity and temperature, we should be very careful to prevent their effect. On the other hand, the partial discharge characteristics are relatively little affected by the surrounding, also a considerable correlation is observed among the partial discharge characteristics and the breakdown voltage. This leads to the possibility of degradation judgement to a certain extent by the nondestructive test. The authors proposed the following guidelines for judging insulation detrioration in the partial discharge characteristics when the partial discharge measuring instruments are applied to an insulation test of relatively low voltage electric motor. (1) Partial discharge inception voltage (<i>V_i</i>): More than 1kV. Only for armature winding, more than 1.5kV. The windings which exhibit these test data have necessary insulation strength for operation. (2) Maximum partial discharge magnitude (<i>Q</i>_max): Below 10×10^-9 coulomb. Only for armature winding, below 2×10^-9 coulomb. The windings which exhibit these test data have necessary insulation strength for operation. (3) Partial discharge current(<i>I</i>): Below 3×10⁴× 10^-9A. Only for commutating pole winding, below 2×10⁴×10^-9A. The windings which exhibit these test data have necessary insulation strength for operation.

論文The revelation effect occurs when engaging in a cognitive task before making a recognition judgment increases the probability of old responses. The present study covered three main points. First, we investigated whether the revelation effect occurred in a between-participants design, using brand names' confidence ratings of knowing (C-ROKs). The following question was used for the C-ROKs: "How confident are you that you knew this brand in high school?" Second, we examined the duration of this effect. Finally, we also investigated whether the phenomenon of higher brand preference ratings, which has been considered a kind of example of the revelation effect, lasted for a certain amount of time. For these purposes, in an experiment, 60 participants were assigned to one of three conditions. All participants viewed a series of brand names and were asked to make C-ROKs. In one condition, participants made the C-ROKs immediately after solving an anagram task (anagram trial) in the first 30 trials. In the next 30 trials, they made only the C-ROKs (no-anagram trial). In the second condition, the order of blocks in the first condition was reversed. In the third condition, the anagram trial and the no-anagram trial were randomly assigned. After all 60 trials, the participants rated their preferences for the brands for which they had previously made C-ROKs.The results showed that the revelation effect occurred in a between-participants design. This is the first study to report the revelation effect when inserted tasks and a between-participants design were used. The results also showed that the revelation effect did not last for a certain amount of time. Moreover, they suggest that the phenomenon of higher brand preference ratings is temporary. These results suggest that the revelation effect is subtle and short-lasting. This means that the revelation effect may capture an instant distortion of memory, of which people are hardly aware in daily life.

「眠気」は主観的に表現されるが、その実態は十分に解明されていない。実際、「眠気が強い」状態ですぐに眠られず、「自覚的な眠気がない」状態ですぐに寝てしまうことがある。本研究では、「眠気」の本質について生理学的な手法・心理学的な手法を統合的に用いて解析した。生理学的な手法としては、実際に眠てしまうまでの時間だけでなく、脳波、心電図なども用い、心理学的な手法としては「注意機能タスク」のほか、各種質問紙を用いている。この結果、「主観的な眠気」が実際の睡眠と十分に関連しないが、「注意機能」と関連する事が明らかとなった。眠気が「睡眠」だけでなく他の認知機能の評価になる可能性を示す、重要な研究となった。

この論文の目的は、段階別戦略行動というカギ概念に注目しながら、グローバル・リテーラーの海外戦略の意思決定や戦略行動が、参入時、参入後に段階別に変化することを指摘することである。小売企業のグローバル化をめぐる理論は、ドメスティック行動からグローバル行動への戦略行動の拡大プロセスを理論的に解明しようとしてきた。しかし、小売企業のグローバル行動の中で、標準化-適応化問題という戦略行動が参入時と参入後で変化するということに対して、認識がやや希薄であった。この問題を明らかにするために、日本におけるグローバル・リテーラーであるトイザらスとカルフールの戦略行動の変化を時系列に追い、従来対立すると考えられてきた標準化-適応化戦略が参入時、参入後の段階においていかに統合されるかを分析した。
