In this project, various life-style related data of a large number of individuals were collected at regular time intervals. The data consists of 90 items, and almost all aspects of life-style, possible to collect without violating individuals privacy, are covered. This project started with two main objectives. One is to nd relationship between life-style and general physical and mental health of individuals. The other one is more subjective, to induce health-consciousness among individuals through declarations of their life-style. At this beginning stage of the project, we have the one-time data of about 4000 individuals. Some interesting observations were made by statistical analysis as well as cluster analysis of the data by Self-Organizing-Map neural network. Two cases of tension pneumocephalus produced by iatrogenic causes are described. Dural tears were produced by a pin of a Mayfield head-holder in one case and by pansinectomy in the other case. In addition, both cases had procedures which induce low cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), such as a ventriculo-peritoneal shunt or lumbar punctures. For production of tension pneumocephalus in these cases, CSF diversionary procedures may play an important role in the accumulation of air in the intracranial space.

バイオマスからの水素製造システムを確立するために,Ni系水蒸気改質触媒を用いた流動床反応装置によりりんご搾りかすの高温水蒸気改質を行った。Ni系触媒はりんご搾りかすと水との反応を促進して水素を生成した。反応物と生成ガスの物質収支および原料の熱分析結果より,高温水蒸気改質反応において,Ni触媒ではりんご搾りかすの分解が先行し,その後分解生成した析出炭素が水と反応すると考えられた。析出炭素と水蒸気との反応を促進すると考えられるカリウムやカルシウム化合物をNi触媒に添加すると,りんご搾りかすの水蒸気改質におけるガス化率は顕著に向上するが,このような事実は上の考えと合致する。バイオマス水蒸気改質による高性能水素製造システムの開発にとって,析出炭素と水蒸気との反応を促進することが有効な方策になり得る。

The regulations formulated in the past 10 years for morphine preparations at Fukushima Medical College Hospital are described. The amount of morphine preparations, which were returned and reused, increased in parallel with the number of prescriptions for morphine preparations. In contrast, the volume of morphine preparations disposed dramatically decreased during the past 2 years. During the past 10 years, no problems arose concerning the regulations for morphine preparations.

To study the effect of fuel viscosity, injection pressure and surface tension on the mean droplet size and spray angle, the diesel fuel spray droplets were measured by a Laser diffraction technique. Several kinds of glycerine solution with water and residual fuel oil were used. The tests were carried out over a wide range of injection pressure [3 to 90 MPa (30.6 to 917.7 kgf/cm2) ] and of kinematic viscosity of liquid [1×10-6 to 200×10-6 m2 /s (1 to 200 cSt) ] at ambient pressure of 3 MPa (30.6 kgf/cm2) .The main results obtained are as follows:(1) Sauter mean diameter increases with increasing kinematic viscosity of liquid, but decreases with increasing injection pressure. There are an upper limit of viscosity and a lower limit of the pressure to produce a fine spray.(2) At high injection pressure, the effect of viscosity on Sauter mean diameter still remains, but the viscosity has no effect on the spray angle.(3) When the viscosity is the same at low injection pressure, Sauter mean diameter of glycerine solution spray is larger than that of residual oil. Surface tension has no effect on the Sauter mean diameter at high injection pressure.

ディーゼル機関の代替燃料の一つとして研究している植物油 (ナタネ脱酸油, パーム脱酸油) および両油と軽油の混合油の動粘度と噴霧粒径の関係を調べた。噴霧粒径の測定は前報と同様に受止め液をシリコン油とする液浸法とし, 動粘度は供試植物油と軽油の混合割合および燃料噴射温度を変えて調整した。その結果, 各噴射温度において供試油の動粘度が高くなるにつれて, 平均噴霧粒径は連続的に大きくなり, 2油種間に相違は認められなかった。さらに, 噴射温度が異なっても, 平均噴霧粒径は供試油の動粘度との関係で1本の曲線に整理できることを明らかにした。

In this study, the influence of the flash boiling phenomenon on the fuel spray characteristics was in vestigated using both experiments and model analysis. Pure liquid fuel of n-Pentane or n-Hexane is injected into a vessel under quiescent gaseous atmosphere at room temperature through a pintle-type injector. Fuel sprays are observed by taking photographs for variation of ambient back pressure. In particular, changes in spray characteristics with back pressure are examined in detail. The results show that the saturated vapor pressure of fuel is the most significant factor and the spray characteristics can be varied with the pressure difference between the back pressure and saturated vapor pressure. Furthermore, flow field of the fuel inside the nozzle is estimated with regard to bubble initiation inside the film flow.

水滴発電器のメカニズムを理論的に明らかにした。水滴発電器を開発し,その理論を実証した。誘導電極の上にノズルがある場合の発電電圧は9kVを越えた。水滴浮遊の原因は誘導電極の電場による引力であることを実証した。それを避けるためにノズルを誘導電極の下に配置し,発電電圧を16kVまで上昇させることができた。水滴発電器の発電開始の原因が空気中のイオンであることが議論された。

Understanding the molecular mechanisms of DNA double-strand break (DSB) repair processes, especially nonhomologous DNA-end joining (NHEJ), is critical for developing next-generation radiotherapies and chemotherapeutics for human and animal cancers. The localization, protein-protein interactions and post-translational modifications of core NHEJ factors, such as human Ku70 and Ku80, might play critical roles in controlling NHEJ activity. XRCC4-like factor (XLF) is a core NHEJ factor and plays a key role in the Ku-dependent NHEJ repair process in human cells. Recently, companion animals, such as canines, have been proposed to be a good model for many aspects of cancer research, including the development of chemotherapeutics. However, the localization and regulation of core NHEJ factors in canine cells have not been elucidated. Here, we show that the localization of canine XLF changes dynamically during the cell cycle. EYFP-canine XLF localizes in the nuclei of interphase cells and accumulates immediately at microirradiated DSB sites. The structure of a putative human XLF nuclear localization signal (NLS) and a putative 14-3-3 binding motif are evolutionarily conserved in canine, chimpanzee and mouse XLF. However, the putative β-TRCP-recognizable degron of human XLF is not conserved in canine and mouse. Additionally, some vital human XLF phosphorylation sites, including the ATM major phosphorylation site (S251), are not conserved in canine XLF. Our findings might be useful for the study of the molecular mechanisms of NHEJ in canine cells and for the development of new radiosensitizers that target XLF.
