The demand for pharmacy services has increased recently, and the skills required for pharmacists have also advanced. Therefore, it is important to implement a working system in which experienced pharmacists can continue working full-time when they require child care or nursing care. In September 2016, we conducted a survey of hospital pharmacists on their work-life balance at a symposium of the 26th annual meeting of the Japanese Society of Pharmaceutical Health Care and Sciences. The purpose of this survey was to examine the current trends and issues of hospital pharmacists’ experience of work-life balance in Japan. A total of 84 responses were included for analysis. Overall, 68.4% of pharmacists reported that they were not satisfied with their work-life balance, and 65.8% reported that they were not satisfied with their working environment. In addition, 90.4% of hospital pharmacists reported they worked overtime, and 76.3% reported that their workload level at their place of practice was high; therefore, they could not complete their duties within regular work hours. Seventy four percent of hospital pharmacists answered that they will not able to continue working if they encounter life events such as childbirth and caring for children or parents. These results show that a majority of hospital pharmacists was not satisfied with their work-life balance, and they were concerned about continuing their pharmacy career when they encountered certain life events. As such, it is critical that each work place implement policies on work-life balance to further help support their pharmacists.

Pallas's Reed Bunting Emberiza pallasi was confirmed to be breeding in grassland at the Volchinka River mouth, Northern Sakhalin, Russia, in July 2019. The density of the species was 0.17 territories/ha. The observed individuals were identified as either E. p. polaris or E. p. pallasi based on their morphological characteristics and geographical location. Two nests and two fledglings were discovered. This is the first evidence of this species breeding on Sakhalin Island. Since northern Sakhalin is several hundred to a thousand kilometres away from the previous known breeding range, our study suggests a possible range expansion of this species.

In Bram Stoker's Dracula (1897), the Transylvanian vampire Dracula plans to invade England by sucking the blood of "new women" who embody the late 19th century sexual anarchy, and transforming them into his own species. The novel seemingly re-enforces traditional sexual norms because he is eventually defeated by the vampire hunters fighting to protect England, and Mina, who acts as their "angel in the house", a de-eroticized woman engaging in reproduction. However, a number of studies, including queer criticism that interprets bloodsucking as a metaphor for homosexuality, have attempted to bring to light the radical sexual politics latent in the novel. This paper argues that Mina "the angel in the house" is, paradoxically, even more perverse than Dracula, the embodiment of dangerous sexuality that threatens reproductive normativity. She not only directs her maternal love to Dracula, but also tries to help the men by copying the miscellaneous records about Dracula with a typewriter and editing them into a story, that is, Dracula. Since Dracula burns the original records, people can only learn about him through the copies, both in the world of the novel and in the real world. Mina is portrayed as a sexual pervert who, acting as an "angel in the house," gives birth to Dracula. By depicting her as a woman who subverts sexual norms through her subordination to them, the author is trying to present an alternative to the modern liberal subjectivity, what we might call liberty without subjectivity.

Unpasteurized draft sake has a potential market value, since it shows fresh flavor and fruity taste, compared with conventional thermal pasteurized sake. However, the actualization of the market value of draft sake is restricted by its short shelf life due to deterioration of flavors and taste by the over-fermentation by sake-yeast, as well as by remaining enzymes produced by koji-mold. Recently, we have developed a new sake brewing process with high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) treatment as a non-thermal pasteurization. Using this process, a prototype HHP-treated sparkling type draft cloudy sake, namely AWANAMA, was brewed. This prototype sake remains the sensory properties like draft sake, but avoiding deterioration by over-fermentation. In this report, we described the development of the new sake brewing process, results of marketing research by domestic and international exhibitions, and the still-remaining research objectives undergoing.

The present study investigated relationships between the self-evaluations of each parts in the body, depressive mood, the sense of health, and the self-esteem, focusing on the evaluation of posture. We conducted a survey of 332 undergraduate students.Factor analysis of the results led to identification of the following five factors: (I) mood and sense of health; (II) thickness and profound; (III) length; (IV) bending; (V) state of shoulder. To evaluate the gender difference, a t-test was applied to the self-evaluation of body image. Female students evaluated more bright in facial expression than male students, females were larger than males in hip size, females had thicker legs than males in their leg, their waist and their arm.Analysis of variance was used for the self-evaluation of posture, the Zung depressive scale, the scale of the sense of health, and the self-esteem scale. The group with the lowest evaluation of their own posture was significantly higher on the Zung depressive scale and lower on the scale of the sense of health than the higher evaluation group.Self-evaluation of the human body may affect emotions (depressive mood, sense of health, self-esteem) and affect awareness through posture.

社会福祉士及び介護福祉士法が施行され30年が経ち、社会福祉専門職のひとつである社会福祉士が多くの福祉現場で実践を展開している。国の政策動向においても、社会福祉士への期待は大きい一方で、養成校の減少や福祉離れが深刻化している。本研究では社会福祉学部の学生が社会福祉専門職を目指すキャリア選択と、社会福祉士実習やその他の福祉教育との関連性について明らかにすることを目的に、複線経路・等至性モデル(TEM)を用いて分析を試みた。分析の結果、「社会福祉実習に臨むことを決断(第1期)」、「社会福祉実習を通した学び(第2期)」、「ソーシャルワーカーとして働くことを選択(第3期)」の3つの時期区分で推移していることがわかった。社会福祉専門職を目指すための福祉教育の展開プロセスとして、(1)社会福祉実習の重要性、(2)地域福祉フィールドワークや福祉現場インターンシップなどの社会福祉実習以外の補完的な取り組み、(3)ソーシャルワークイメージの明確化の3点が重要であることが明らかとなった。TEM福祉教育社会福祉専門職

Recent taxonomic and phylogeographic studies of various terrestrial organisms in the Chugoku Mountains, western Honshu, Japan, have revealed a number of remarkable geographic differentiations among populations in the mountainous regions. Interestingly, geographical boundaries of those differentiations tend to occur intensively in three areas: 1) Sendai River (eastern part of Tottori Prefecture), 2) Asahi River (Okayama Pref.) and Hino River (western part of Tottori Pref.), 3) Ota River (western part of Hiroshima Pref.) and Takatsu River (western part of Shimane Pref.). Each of these river systems has worked as a geographical barrier that facilitates genetic differentiation among the populations or as a barrier to block dispersal of populations that had already differentiated elsewhere. The current paper reviews various examples of geographic differentiations of terrestrial animals, especially harvestmen and other arthropods, in the Chugoku Mountains and discusses possible factors inducing these population differentiations.
