The purpose of this paper is to sociologically examine the difficulties associated with disfigurement and the strategies for coping with this by using the life-stories of women with such facial disfigurement. The first part of this research is based on life-story interviews and examines the "lived time" of individual respondents. In contrast to Goffman who adopted a synchronic approach that focused on the fixed scene of social interaction and described how stigmatized people survive their situation, I examined the total lives of women with facial disfigurement diachronically. I found that women did not think camouflage makeup was always all-purpose. Camouflage makeup brings out both good and bad points, something that those who provide makeup service should consider in supporting those with facial disfigurement.

Endofungal bacteria are widespread within the phylum Mucoromycota, and these include Burkholderiaceae-related endobacteria (BRE). However, the prevalence of BRE in Mortierellomycotinan fungi and their phylogenetic divergence remain unclear. Therefore, we examined the prevalence of BRE in diverse species of Mortierella. We surveyed 238 isolates of Mortierella spp. mainly obtained in Japan that were phylogenetically classified into 59 species. BRE were found in 53 isolates consisting of 22 species of Mortierella. Among them, 20 species of Mortierella were newly reported as the fungal hosts of BRE. BRE in a Glomeribacter-Mycoavidus clade in the family Burkholderiaceae were separated phylogenetically into three groups. These groups consisted of a group containing Mycoavidus cysteinexigens, which is known to be associated with M. elongata, and two other newly distinguishable groups. Our results demonstrated that BRE were harbored by many species of Mortierella and those that associated with isolates of Mortierella spp. were more phylogenetically divergent than previously reported.

要旨 ミヤケミズムシXenocorixa vittipennisは,本州,四国,九州に分布し,水生植物が豊富な池沼に高密度に生息するが産地は局所的とされている.また,環境省の準絶滅危惧に指定されているがその生活史についての報告は少なく,交尾や産卵行動についての報告はない.本稿では,宮城県の溜池で,繁殖と思われる行動を観察したので報告する.また,幼虫の成長過程を2015 年4 月から2018 年6 月にかけて観察したので報告する.

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of extracorporeal shock wave therapy on the pain and function of patients with degenerative knee arthritis. [Subjects and Methods] Twenty patients with degenerative knee arthritis were divided into a conservative physical therapy group (n=10) and an extracorporeal shock wave therapy group (n=10). Both groups received general conservative physical therapy, and the extracorporeal shock wave therapy was additionally treated with extracorporeal shock wave therapy after receiving conservative physical therapy. Both groups were treated three times a week over a four-week period. The visual analogue scale was used to evaluate pain in the knee joints of the subjects, and the Korean Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index was used to evaluate the function of the subjects. [Results] The comparison of the visual analogue scale and Korean Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index scores within each group before and after the treatment showed statistically significant declines in scores in both the conservative physical therapy group and extracorporeal shock wave therapy group. A group comparison after the treatment showed statistically significant differences in these scores in the extracorporeal shock wave therapy group and the conservative physical therapy group. [Conclusion] extracorporeal shock wave therapy may be a useful nonsurgical intervention for reducing the pain of patients with degenerative knee arthritis and improving these patients’ function.

今日,市場には多くの商品やサービスがあふれ,消費者には多様な選択肢が与えられている。一方,インターネットやスマートフォンの普及により,消費者は,どこにいても,商品・サービスの機能や価格を,瞬時にかつ簡単に比較・検討することができるようになった。購入や利用の決定に関する主導権が「買い手」に移る中,「売り手」は機能や性能,価格といった「伝統的」な要素だけで,自らを差別化することは難しくなっている。そこで重要になるのがユーザーエクスペリエンス(UX)だ。商品やサービスの購入や利用にまつわる一連の体験を快適で便利なものにできなければ,消費者の心をつかみ続けることは難しい。それゆえ,UXデザインは,意匠や機能のデザインにとどまる問題ではなく,経営を左右する重要な課題の一つになりつつある。

日本年金機構に対する標的型攻撃(2015年6月)では多数の個人情報が流出し,香川大学(以下:本学)の医学部附属病院でも,同様の攻撃によって端末1台がウイルスに感染するインシデントが発生した.本学では,こうした事例に基づき,2016年度に,情報セキュリティ対策の強化の一環として,構成員(特に教職員)による標的型攻撃メール対応訓練を導入した.これに続き,香川大学情報セキュリティインシデント対策チーム“KADAI CSIRT”(以下:本CSIRT)を発足させ,訓練・教育・注意喚起・報告受付の各業務を組織化し,攻撃に対する本学の潜在的課題やCSIRT活動の課題を探るべく調査を実施してきた.本論文では,標的型攻撃メール訓練に対する構成員から得られた主観的評価等のデータに基づきCSIRT構築過程を詳述する.

This paper focuses on the position of “Ju-ken” matches and their promoter, Kenji Kano, in Japanese boxing history. A “Ju-ken” match was a match between a judoist and a boxer, and such bouts were held from the middle of the Taisho era to the early Showa era in Kobe, Tokyo and Osaka. The main organizer of these matches was the “International Ju-ken club”, whose owner Kenji Kano was the nephew of Jigoro Kano. This study divides the history of Ju-ken into three periods, each with respective features.   The first period was from October 1919 to April 1920. Ju-ken at this time was intended to reform judo into a competitive sport through fighting with boxing. Although judo had been well established at that time, it was facing a challenge due to loss of its spirit and form as a martial art during the process of sportification. Jigoro Kano, the founder of Judo, was unhappy with this change. By studying boxing, karate, aikido, stick fighting and other martial arts, he aimed at creating a ‘Martial Art Judo’. His nephew Kenji Kano pursued martial art-oriented judo as well, but his approach to reconstructing judo as a martial art was through mixed martial arts games, the “Ju-Ken math”.   The middle period was from May 1920 to March 1925, when Ju-ken evolved into a spectator sport that encapsulated the struggle for superiority in terms of nationality and ethnicity. Because Kodokan prohibited their members from participating in any mixed-martial arts match from April 1921, Ju-ken became a spectator sport. In addition, after charity matches following the Great Kanto Earthquake, in order to bring more excitement to the game, Ju-ken heightened the opposition and rivalry based on the nationalities and ethnicities of the athletes.   The final period was from May 1925 to August 1931, when Ju-ken changed into a show that was intended to provoke nationalistic emotions among the audience. After the development of “normal” boxing, Ju-ken held normal boxing matches in their games and adopted new boxing-like rules. These new rules and the point systems put foreign boxers at a disadvantage when fighting against Japanese judoists, ensuring that Japanese would always defeat foreigners.   Finally, through assimilation of knowledge and focusing on boxing, this study argues that Ju-ken matches created a background for localization of modern boxing in Japan.

On the basis of the measurement results of airborne radionuclide concentrations in the Nuclear Fuel Cycle Engineering Laboratories, Japan Atomic Energy Agency, the committed effective dose to adults and the committed equivalent dose to thyroid of infants by inhalation were estimated for various indoor and outdoor exposure scenarios. It was demonstrated that the indoor to outdoor airborne radionuclide concentration ratio had a dominant effect on the dose estimate. The committed effective dose to adults was estimated to 0.098 mSv, and the committed equivalent dose to thyroid of infants was 1.8 mSv. These doses were about 1/6 and about 1/9, respectively, compared to the provisional ones with such assumptions as continuous outdoor stay.

This paper reports a series of studies leading to the discovery of a submarine hydrothermal field (called Nakayama Field) at an arc seamount (12°43′N, 143°32′E) in the southernmost part of the Mariana Trough, western Pacific Ocean. We first detected hydrothermal plumes characterized by water column anomalies of temperature, light transmission, Mn, Fe, Al, O2, CH4, and δ13C of CH4 above the summit caldera of the seamount. Then deep-tow camera surveys confirmed the existence of hydrothermal activity inside the caldera, and an ROV dive finally discovered white smoker-type fluid venting associated with vent fauna. A high concentration of aluminum in the plume and white smoker-type emissions imply acidic hydrothermal activity similar to that observed at the DESMOS Caldera in the eastern Manus Basin, Papua New Guinea. Anomalously low δ13C (CH4) of −38‰ of a vent fluid sample compared to other arc hydrothermal systems along the Izu-Bonin and Mariana Arcs suggests an incorporation of biogenic methane based on a subsurface microbial ecosystem.

今日の日本国内において、コーヒーは嗜好品飲料として消費量を年々増加させている。全日本コーヒー協会 (2017)によると、日本国内の18~24歳の1人当たりのコーヒー飲用杯数は、一週間あたり5-6杯で、全年齢数の約11杯と比較すると少なく、この年代層にはコーヒーが比較的に親しまれていないのではないかと考えられる。そこで、本研究ではコーヒー飲料を含む20種類の嗜好品飲料から想起するイメージ感の相違を調査し、多次元尺度構成法を用いた認知マップを作成することにより、18~24歳の若者層が嗜好品飲料のなかでコーヒー飲料をどのように位置付けているのかを分析する。

症例は70歳男性.肝門部とドーム下に肝腫瘍を指摘され受診された.門脈腫瘍塞栓をともなうStage IVの肝細胞癌と診断し,近医経過観察の方針となった.その後は症状の増悪なく経過し,初診から28カ月後の画像診断で腫瘍は著明に縮小していた.退縮に関わる因子として,門脈腫瘍塞栓による腫瘍血流の減少と,イミダプリル,補中益気湯の抗腫瘍効果が考えられた.肝細胞癌の自然退縮症例はまれであり,文献的考察を含め報告する.

独習型の教育システムでは,学習者の興味や進度に合わせた個人適応型学習コンテンツの生成が重要な問題の1つである.本研究では,Wikipediaを用いた歴史上の人物に関する質問応答システムを作成し,学習者が興味のある事項をこのシステムに聞くことにより,学習できる環境と,システムとのやり取りの中で話題になった事柄について,同じくWikipediaを用いて多肢選択問題を生成する機構を提案する.

The fifteen puzzle is a sliding puzzle which has fifteen pieces on which numbers from 1 to 15 are printed. Using the IDA* algorithm with an admissible evaluation function, we can obtain an optimal solution of the puzzle. The performance of the algorithm depends on the evaluation function. The most simple evaluation function is the Manhattan evaluation function, whose value is the sum of the Manhattan distances from the positions of the corresponding pieces in the goal configuration. In this paper, we propose an evaluation function whose values are greater than or equal to that of the Manhattan evaluation function. Our evaluation function refers an approximated database of the gap-2n set. The database is computed beforehand like pattern databases, but it is completely different from pattern databases. The belongingness of a configuration of pieces to the set has to be checked by the database. Using an evaluation function based on the gap-8 set, we were able to reduce the number of search nodes to about 2.5×10-4 times in average with the IDA* algorithm compared with the Manhattan evaluation function. We also show that combining an evaluation function by gap-8 set and an evaluation function by additive pattern databases of disjoint seven and eight pieces, we were able to reduce the number of search nodes by about 53 compared with the evaluation function only by the additive pattern databases.
