本論文は,駅で流されている発車サイン音楽が,電車利用者にどのような印象を与えているのかフィールド調査及びイメージ調査によって明らかにしたものである。回答者は18歳から58歳までの26名。山手線を一駅ずつ乗・降りしながら,各プラットホームで,発車サイン音楽に関する質問,形容詞印象評定と駅全体の印象に関する各質問に回答させ,併せて2ヶ月後に,同じ回答者に駅のイメージ調査をおこなった。その結果,各駅で流されている発車音楽サインのふさわしい度にはそれほど違いがみられないが,発車サイン音楽を含めたサイン音全体に対する不満が「わずらわしさ」や「耳障りである」といった印象を形成していることが分かった。2つの調査でおこなった「形容詞を用いた印象評定」では,迫力性,美的,金属製の3因子が同様に抽出され,実際の乗り降りをおこなっている時の印象とイメージとして思い浮かべる印象の間には,美的因子に関する相関が見られた。The purpose of the present study is to investigate people's impressions to signal music, which rings at platforms. Two kinds of social survey were designed to investigate the subjects' impressions using Semantic Differential and the results were compared with those of laboratory experiments. Three main results were observed: (a) All responses to the signal music could be divided into the same 3 main factors: powerful, pleasant and metallic. (b) There was a correlation on the pleasant factor between social survey and laboratory experiment. (c) Similar feelings (metallic or pleasant) for 6 kinds of signal music were evoked in both conditions: social survey and laboratory experiment.

食の外部化が進み、中食産業が盛んになった今日、子どもたちの食生活が大きく変化した。台所から子どもたちの姿が消え、自ら食事作りをするチャンスが減少し、食に関した知識を家族から学ぶことが少なくなった。平成17年の食育基本法の制定を受け、食育の大切さが提唱され、いろいろな分野で食に関する体験学習が展開されているが、筆者らは千葉県の郷土料理である太巻き祭りずしを用いた体験学習を、小学生、発育成長期の幼児の母親、親子を対象に12年ほど積極的に実施している。更に障害の有無に関わらず郷土料理を学ぶ権利は平等だという理念に基づき、知的障害を有する人々を対象に3年連続で実施しているのでその内容を報告する。

4種類の箸,普通(20.2cm),短い(16.5cm),長い(23.5cm),特注品(21.5cm)を用いて女子大生に太巻き寿司を食べてもらい,箸の使い易さについて5項目について5段階評価してもらった。<箸の持ち易さ>,<寿司の持ち易さ>,<海苔の切り易さ><具のつかみ易さ>,<寿司の食べ易さ>のすべての項目において,普通の長さの箸の方が短い箸または長い箸よりも高い評価であった。普通の長さの箸の総得点に比べて短い箸では約22〜51%,長い箸では約9〜55%低かった。また,普通の箸と特注品(手の長さの1.25告)では,特注品の方が使い易いという評価のものが47%あり,総得点でも普通の箸よりも約6〜46%高かった。短いおよび長い箸はともに使いにくいことがわかったので,手にかかる負担も大きいのではないかと考えてポリグラフを用いて筋活動量を測定した結果,母指内転筋,短母指外転筋ともに筋活動量が大きい傾向がみられた。手の長さと身長との間には,高度に有意な相関が得られた。外食化の傾向が高まるなかで,女子大生にとっては,食べ易さの面からは長い箸も短い箸も好ましくない。また高級化志向のために長い箸を用いることは,森林資源の有効利用の面からも得策とはいえない。

Tim O'Brien's Going After Cacdato is one of his so-called 'Vietnam war trilogy,' but it differs from the others, If I Die in a Combat Zone (1975) and The Things They Carried (1990), because of its unique structure and imaginative story. Although this novel has three separate kinds of chapters, 'The Road to Paris' chapters cannot be independent themselves, and they are often interrupted by his war memories. This structural invasion is brought about by the protagonist Paul Berlin's confusion which is caused on the borderline between the old American dream and the turbulent social situation in 60s America. In the Vietnam War, Billy Boy Watkin's death makes Berlin realize that American fathers of the good old Protestantism can no longer teach their sons how to survive in the new-type of war. On the contrary, the fathers accuse their sons of cowardice, and Abraham-like Lieutenant Sidney Martin representing American fathers leads soldiers as Isaac to the hilltop to offer them up as sacrifices for their God, that is, the United States of America. Once Berlin's conventional view begins to shatter, his fantasy also comes to be unstable. 'The Road to Paris' fantasy assumes a nomadic atmosphere as well as his ancestors' Westward Movement plot, and Berlin as 'an author' cannot put a clear distinction between himself and his characters. He sees Sarkin Aung Wan, Li Van Hgoc and an executed man superimposed on his situation, though in this novel the postcolonial idea of 'fusion' has not been accomplished yet. This metaphysical chaos of Berlin's is best represented in a deserter, Cacciato. His elusive image is also reminiscent of the indefinable Vietnam War and American society of the 60s, and it stands for the idea of the coming Postmodern era, especially of Jacques Derrida's idea, 'differance.' Likewise, Berlin, who sees Cacciato as a person to lead him, intends to maintain his aporia with both of his choices, an obligation to his homeland and freedom from it; in the peace talks with Sarkin, his alter ego representing freedom, he does not reach any agreement and they are split apart on either side of the Eurasian continent. Yet, here, some hints of Berlin's defiance against the modern civilization are suggested; his indecisiveness implicitly rejects self-determination characteristic of civilized society, and he also refuses to work as a soldier of America by letting Cacciato free. In addition, with Lieutenant Corson's suggestion of Cacciato's survival, the tentative end of Berlin's fantasy seems to make him go back to the starting point of his journey. This circular form of his narrative is a sign of farewell to the linear modernistic narrative. Rewriting the 60s in such a complicated style from the point of view of the 70s, Berlin and the author O'Brien might have tried to preserve secretly what they wanted to insist, and showed a faint but critical attitude toward the amnestic 70s when American people refused to talk about the Vietnam War.

During the course of this research our goal has been to illustrate the factors that affect the commitment of secondary school pupils'vis-a-vis their schools and future educational goals and career trajectories. In doing so, we will propose "a plural model of school culture". In spite that actualities of club activities are very significant for pupils in their school life, its institutional position is vague in the current course of study. So it causes many issues about the coaching and management of club activities, for example the issue of overwork of teachers, and so on. In light of this we made a questionnaire survey to teachers of sports club activities in order to clarify two subjects. One is actual condition how teachers coach and manage club activities. The other is consciousness which the teacher have toward club activities. Based on the survey, this study is to examine six points: 1) commitment of teachers, 2) support system of club activities, 3) gap of the consciousness between teachers and pupils, 4) intensification of teachers, 5) opinions of teachers on what club activities to be in future, 6) further discussion about club activities. The results are as follows. 1) Teachers who strongly commit club to activities are inclined to expect much to them, don't have problems in them, and cope with them as eagerly as other activities outside class. 2) Teachers with external coach don't strongly commit to club activities and don't have experiences by themselves on the activities. Teachers with a parental organization strongly commit to club activities. 3) We found a certain gap between teachers and pupils on their ways of view about club activities. In spite that teachers can find pupils'expectations to club activities, they seem to be inclined to have more internal goals in educational points. 4) Teachers are pressed by business not because the participation to club activities restrained their time, but because they recognize problems about it, for example the vagueness whether club activities are in/out of their duty. 5) We found out some knowledge on opinions of teachers on what club activities to be in future which is below. Their opinions differ from pupils'. There is a wide variety of opinions among teachers according to the locality where schools are, the athletic event of club teachers have charge of, how many times and which day of the week teachers attend their clubs, and whether teachers are bothered by heavy burdens or institutional ambiguity of them. 6) Teachers whose main role is to manage club activities are bothered by heavy burdens or institutional ambiguity of them. And whether they recognize insufficiency of facility, equipment and administrative cost as problem differ from one activity to another.

Ambient corona discharge has been used as an ionizer in a wide range of research and industrial fields such as environmental, analytical and aerosol sciences, and possibly even commercial electric appliances. Terminal ions produced via ion evolutions through successive ion-molecule reactions in corona discharge can readily and efficiently supply the charge for ionization in ambient air. Despite substantial progress in the application of corona discharge, the elementary processes involved in terminal ion formation and evolution are not yet well understood. It has been reported that negative ion evolution is rather complex compared to that of positive ions, and that it is difficult to regulate the reproducible formation of specific negative ion species. We have recently established an atmospheric pressure corona discharge system containing a specific corona needle that successfully leads to regular and reproducible generation of various positive and negative ions originating from ambient air. The system coupled with mass spectrometers made it possible to study the relationship between terminal ion formation and discharge conditions. In this paper, the formation and evolution mechanism of terminal ions such as H3O+, HO-, NOx- and COx- depending on the electric field strength on the needle tip and the resulting kinetic energy of electrons accelerated at the tip will be described.

Many (25 individuals) immature medusae of a large form of Turritopsis medusae were collected from Enoshima, Kanagawa Prefecture in April, 2016, and cultured in the laboratory for about two months until their death (rejuvenated from a medusa to stolon, but no formation of zooids). They grew well-grown (maximally 8 mm in umbrella height) medusae with scarlet-coloured manubrium and c 80-100 tentacles. The present occurrence of a large form, though not an adult, is the second southernmost distributional record of this species after one century. However, the number of tentacles of the present medusae showed the minimum number, in contrast to having much more tentacles in wild medusae collected from various places in Japan (from Kanagawa Prefecture to Hokkaido).

本研究では,まず,撮影された写真画像の位置情報と写真画像に対するコメントに加え,方位と仰角を取得することができるシステムを開発した.また,18名の留学生を被験者とし,被験者を各観光地まで案内して,そこから各自自由に観光しながら撮影をしてもらう実験を行った.さらに,写真画像ごとのコメントを記述してもらい,言語と写真画像の両方のデータを取得することで,観光客の関心対象をより詳細に把握することを試みた.結果として,仰角データの活用により,観光客の撮影する関心対象を絞り込むことが可能となることが示された.仰角の高い関心対象は高層の建物が多く,写真画像の撮影位置とは離れた対象である場合があることが明らかとなった.また,仰角の低い関心対象には買い物や食べ物に関わることが多いことも示された.さらに,言語データと写真画像の位置・方位・仰角データを組み合わせることで,言語データのみからでは生じてしまう関心対象の地理的不一致を修正することが可能となり,観光客の関心対象をより詳細に把握できることを示した.
