Methotrexate (MTX) has been proven to be effective for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (RA)and is believed to be nononcogenic when a low weekly dose is administered to patients with RA. However, wereport the case of a 71-year-old man with RA who was treated for 11 years with MTX and developed B cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (BNHL) in the oral cavity. The tumor was localized in the right maxilla extranodally.Microscopic examination of a biopsy specimen revealed a non-epithelial tumor pattern and showed BNHL inwhich large cells with pleomorphic nuclei invaded the muscle tissue. These large cells tested strongly positive forEpstein-Barr virus encoded small RNAs-in situ hybridization (EBER-ISH) and CD20 antibody. We immediatelystopped MTX administration; however, only minimal shrinkage of the tumor was observed. Therefore, we performedantibody treatment with rituximab. After chemotherapy, complete remission was achieved. To date, thepatient is healthy, with no evidence of tumor recurrence during 32 months of follow-up. The development of anextranodal lymphoma in the oral cavity in a patient with RA who received MTX has not been reported previously.Therefore, this case is considered extremely rare.

This study evaluated the effects of sea surface temperature (SST) resolution on dynamically downscaled daily surface air temperature (Tsrf) in the Kanto region during early summer. Two downscaling experiments and one additional experiment were conducted using different SST datasets for the months of June and July over a 10-year period. The results demonstrated that the Tsrf difference in the Kanto region between the high-resolution SST experiment (Run-H) and the low-resolution SST experiment (Run-C) correlated positively with the difference in surrounding SST. The impact of SST difference depended on the wind direction and speed. By comparing the results with observations at meteorological stations, the number of days with warm Tsrf bias in Run-C significantly reduced in Run-H, but the number of days with cold Tsrf bias remained steady. These results suggest that SST resolution influences the downscaled Tsrf reproducibility over land, and it is worthwhile to pay attention to coastal SST.

ビフィズス菌は,主にヒトや動物の腸管から分離されるグラム陽性の多形性桿菌であり,系統分類学的にはActinobacteria門のBifidobacteriaceae科に属する6属58菌種で構成される.なかでもBifidobacterium属は,50菌種10亜種で構成され,その中心を占めている.微生物の分類体系は,菌種同定や分類法の技術の進歩と密接な関係にある.DNA-DNA相同性試験(DDH)法は,1960年代から用いられ,現在でも菌種を区別するための最も重要な基準である.一方,16S rRNA遺伝子配列データに基づく系統解析は,煩雑な操作と熟練を必要とするDDHに替わる菌種分類の標準法として位置づけられている.しかしながら,16S rRNA遺伝子単独では菌種の分類同定が不可能である菌種グループが数多く存在する.近年,ハウスキーピング遺伝子の塩基配列に基づく多相解析法[Multilocus Sequence Analysis(MLSA)あるいはTyping(MLST)]および全ゲノム塩基配列の相同性(ANI)など,DDH法を補完・代替する分類方法が開発されている.ここでは,ビフィズス菌の分類法の現状と動向について解説する.

7歳齢,未去勢雄の雑種犬。他院より難治性の皮膚炎として当院を紹介受診。紹介される1年ほど前より包皮周囲の皮膚炎の治療を受けていた。医原性クッシング及びステロイド皮膚症と診断,経口のプレドニゾロンを漸減し,ステロイド含有の外用薬の塗布を中止したところ,5ヶ月程でほぼ略治したが,その約1ヶ月後に包皮の先端にマス様病変が認められ,病変部位の組織生検より皮膚上皮向性T細胞性リンパ腫と診断した。外科切除を実施後およそ10ヶ月間,完全寛解の状態を維持している。

本稿は、20世紀の戦争や植民地支配がアーカイブズに及ぼした影響についての研究の一環として、第二次世界大戦期に在外公館文書の押収等をめぐり日英両国の間に繰り広げられた確執の問題をとりあげるものである。ただし、日本側の史料については、まだほとんど見ていないので、今回はもっぱらイギリス側史料の紹介を中心とし、詳しい分析は次の機会に譲りたい。まず「はじめに」で、外交施設や外交官の記録文書をめぐる国際法について概観したあと、第一章「開戦前におけるイギリスの在外公館文書保護策」では、第二次世界大戦前、イギリス外務省が在外公館に発した指示や規程類のうち、記録文書の保存・廃棄等に触れている主要な指示や規程類を紹介する。開戦時の中心的な規程は、1939年7月31日付外務省回章「戦争指令」である。続いて、開戦前のヨーロッパならびにアジアのイギリス在外公館の状況を、各在外公館との往復文書などから明らかにする。第二章「開戦後における在外公館文書の捜索・押収をめぐる日英の確執」では、日本によるイギリス在外公館文書の捜索・押収の事実と、それをめぐって日英間に繰り広げられた確執に関する史料を中心に紹介する。事例として、在東京イギリス大使館をはじめとする日本国内ならびに日本植民地のイギリス在外公館、ついで上海などの日本軍事占領地、最後に非占領地としてバンコクのイギリス在外公館の状況をそれぞれみる(以上『史料館研究紀要』35号に掲載)。イギリスによる日本在外公館文書の捜索・押収については史料が乏しいが、ロンドン、シンガポール、インド、ベルリンなどの状況について若干の史料紹介を行う(本号)。The present essay deals with the discord issues between Japan and Britain concerning capturing or looting diplomatic and consular archives in the World War II period. Because of the short age of time for consulting Japanese sources, the present essay only introduces British sources avoiding detailed analysis accordingly. After referring the international law regarding the immunity of diplomatic and consular archives briefly, the author introduces some important instructions to the British diplomatic and consular posts a broad issued by the British Foreign Office before the World War II concerning the protection of diplomatic and consular archives at the event of armed conflicts. Then, the conditions of archives at some British diplomatic and consular posts in Europe and Asia before the outbreak of war are revealed by the Foreign Office records such as correspondences. The following chapter is devoted to introduce British sources regarding the looting of British diplomatic and consular archives by the Japanese in the main lands, colonies and occupied territories of Japan, after the outbreak of war. In the last part of the essay, the issue of capturing Japanese diplomatic and consular archives by the British authorities in such places as London, Singapore, India and Berlin, is dealt with.

本研究は,幼稚園の帰りの集まりにおいて,3歳児が「別れのあいさつ」のルーティンを学んでいくダイナミックな過程を,幼児と保育者,幼児と他児のやりとりにおける言葉や仕草,表情を詳細に記録し,心情面も含めて考察した。その結果,まず,子どもは個人の楽しさや自分の思いを表現するために教師の提示したルーティンを破り,共に行動する楽しさによってルーティンに戻る。保育者はあいさつのルーティンの要素間の間合いを短くすることで,子どもがルーティンを実行するように援助をしていた。次第に,子ども同士がルーティンの実行を互いにうながすようになっていった。この変化の様相から,子どもが自発的にルーティンを学んでいくためには,子ども同士が影響し合うこと,また,その基盤としての子どもと保育者との信頼関係が重要であると考察された。

Weathering processes on Martian surface are among the essential issues for both understanding landform evolution and exploring water availability on Martian surface. Studies are reviewed on various weathering processes on Martian surface based on images, data collected by rovers, and laboratory approaches. Recent explorations by the Mars Exploration Rovers reveal that chemical weathering occurs on the surface of basaltic regolith. Dissolution of olivine and oxidation of Fe produces weathering rinds on basaltic surface regolith. Rock interiors also show vugs and veins filled with light-toned efflorescence indicative of chemical weathering. In particular, in high-latitude areas the two Viking landers and the Mars Pathfinder observed honeycomb weathering, angular rock fragments, and polygonal cracks in bedrock. Most of these features are also observed in the Antarctica and other cold deserts on Earth, and are generally attributed to physical weathering such as salt crystallization, thermal weathering, and/or frost weathering. Some studies successfully estimate periods and rates of weathering on the Martian surface, which promote a further understanding of environmental changes and landform evolution.

現在,ファッションは人々の生活の中に根づき,短期間で変化する流行と共に,常に新しさが求められるものであり,一つのビジネスとしても確立されている。今日,世界のファッション・ビジネスが大きく発展している背景には,これまで数多くの歴史を築き上げてきたパリ・モードが深く関係している。それは,華々しくファッションが登場した17 世紀以降のフランスの絵画や, 芸術分野からも見て取れる。さらに, 19 世紀のパリでは, 国の主要な産業となっていた仕立業や手工業が目覚ましい発展を遂げ,モードの中心として確立された。この時代には,これまでのオートクチュール産業の他に,既製服産業が登場し,職人の技術向上を目的とした教育の重要性も高まる。そして,モード産業がパリの主要な産業として位置づけられていく中で,多くのデザイナーが登場し,彼らの功績もまた,今日に通じる偉業となっている。また,多様化する現代において,ファッションはアクセサリーや香水など広範囲に及び,それらはモード産業の主力的な部門になっていることから,現状について論述していく。
