In this paper, tension tests are performed with the dragline silk produced by Nephila Clavata. Tension testingmachine is developed and manufactured for micro-sized materials. The dragline silk is the difficult material toconduct the tension test because the dragline of spider is the fine and ductile line and also the test load is small.From the results of tests, following conclusions are obtained. 1) The continuous stress-strain behavior of spider silkis obtained in 1.0μm/sec constant test speed, and the failure stress of dragline is about 2000MPa. 2) The diameter ofdragline is found to vary among each thread, thus it is necessary to measure the diameter of all specimens. 3) It isunderstood that the failure stress is mostly constant because the failure force of dragline and the cross-sectional areaare proportional to the weight of the spider.

An extensive survey for the triterpenoid constituents of Momordica charantia L. has been carried out in this laboratory, and so far, five glycosides (momordicosides A-E) of cucurbit-5-ene derivatives were isolated from the seeds, and their structures were determined. They are unique cucurbitacins being highly oxygenated only in the side chain and having no oxygen function at C_<11>. This study concerns the structure elucidation of two bitter glycosides, momordicosides K and L, and four non-bitter glycosides, momordicosides F_1, F_2, G and I isolated from the fruits. The structure of F_1 was proposed as 3-O-β-D-glucopyranoside of 5,19-epoxy-25-methoxy-5β-cucurbita-6,23-dien-3β-ol on the basis of PMR, CMR and CD spectral data and chemical conversion into a cucurbit-5-ene derivative. G is the corresponding β-D-allopyranoside. F_2 and I are the C_<25>-OH derivatives corresponding to G and F_1, respectively. K and L were determined as 7-O-β-D-glucopyranosides of 19-oxo-25-methoxy-cucurbita-5,23-diene-3β, 7β-diol and its C_<25>-OH derivative, respectively, on the basis of spectral data and chemical correlation with F_1-aglycone. F_1, F_2, G and I are the first cucurbitacins having 5β-cucurbitane nucleus found in nature, and K and L are noted as the new cucurbitacins having C_9-aldehyde and 7-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl groups. Among momordicosides, G and F_2 are the first triterpenoid glycosides having D-allose as a component sugar.

According to the view that the attribute of tones has two components : "pitch" (tone height) and "chroma" (tone chroma), absolute pitch (AP) is to be defined as the ability of "chroma" identification. The purpose of this study was to examine how well AP possessors of the ability to identify "chroma", and non-possessors of no such ability could identify "pitch". Subjects were 20 non-possessors, 10 AP possessors who were able to identify all tones' chroma (AP possessors [all]) and 10 AP possessors who were able to identify only white key tones' chroma (AP possessors [white]). According to our study, a pitch identification task showed differences among groups. AP possessors [all] showed to be superior to non-possessors. By contrast, AP possessors [white] proved to be the same as non-possessors. The results suggested that AP possessors [all] identified pitch absolutely, and non-possessors did it according to its relative heights of tones. AP possessors [white] showed confused error patterns.

The practice of bilingual deaf education in Northern Europe and America has pushed the introduction of Japanese Sign Language (JSL) for communication aids into Japanese public deaf schools since the 1990s. This study examined this new trend and discussed the possibility of the combined method of JSL and oral Japanese for young deaf children to promote their meta-linguistic abilities and to provide them clues to written Japanese language.

九州地方の中央部にある阿蘇カルデラの火口瀬に位置する立野から瀬田にかけては、一般に「まつぼり風」と呼称される東寄りの局地的な強風の吹走することが知られている。2000年10月11日、現地にて「阿蘇おろし」に起因すると考えられる雲の流れを確認した。本研究ではこの事例について既存の気象観測資料を用いて解析、考察し、報告する。Abstract:A local easterly strong wind prevailsfrom the point of Tatento to that of Seta locatedin the western rim of Mt.Aso in Kyushu District.This local strong wind is well known as "Matsubori-kaze" or "Aso-Oroshi", which is restricted in the Tateno barranco of Mt.Aso. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of this local strong wind by using the meteorological data around the barranco of Mt.Aso. The meteorological data of this study include routine surface meteorological observations at AMeDAS observatories and observatory of Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's observatories. While it is usually calm around the Toshita district on the barranco bottom of Mt.Aso, a weak wind is recognaized there during blowing of the local wind. When the local wind blows, the airflow runs down the barranco raising the potential temperature.The difference of potential temperature between Aso-Otohime and Tateno is lower than that between Tateno and the Kikuchi-minami Fire station.

イソコモリグモ <i>Lycosa ishikariana</i> の配偶行動を飼育条件下で観察した. オスはメスの受信糸をたどってメスの巣穴に接近した. そして左の第I脚を巣穴に差し込んだ. 交尾は巣穴の外で行なわれた. 交尾体位はオスがメスの上に正面から馬乗りになるもので, これは典型的な <i>Lycosa</i> 属の交尾体位であった.

目的:幼児が注射をされるときの経験を知ること。調査期間:2007年7月から約1ヶ月間。方法:大学生7人へ構成的質問11項目、主な内容は注射が好きか、覚えている注射の経験はどのようなことか、現在はどう思っているかである。得られた内容を質的に分析しカテゴリー化した。結果:幼児へ関わるときのよい関わりとして10項目が抽出された。主な内容は(1)注射の前に必ず注射の目的や痛みがあることを説明する、(2)安易に注射は「痛くない」「すぐ終わる」と言わない、(3)子どもが注射を受ける覚悟ができるまで待つ、(4)2人以上の看護師で子どもを取り囲まない、(5)馬乗りはやめる、(6)母親が付き添い母親が押さえると子どもが注射を「やらなければならないこと」と諦める、(7)処置後に子どもの頑張りを褒める、(8)ご褒美をもらうことで子どもは嫌なことを吹っ切る。考察:これらは特別な準備の必要がなく、明日からでも実行可能な内容であった。

当フェニックスデイサービスでは、H17年1月からパワーリハビリテーションを導入した。トレーニングは午前10時からと午後1時からの2部構成で行い、準備及び整理体操とコーヒーブレイクも含めて約2時間である。H17年8月にパワーリハビリテーションの効果を調べるため、アンケートをとり、精神面での活動性の向上を確認する事が出来た。身体機能評価では、いくつかの項目において効果が認められた。男性の52.6%、女性では75%の方々が、「体が軽くなった」と回答。女性の87.5%の方々が、「日常生活が楽に感じるようになった」と回答した。また、女性では50%、男性でも42.1%の方が「パワーリハビリテーションを受けられて、日常生活に活気が出てきた」と回答している。

手書き入力による尺八譜の手書き入力・編集システムの研究を行っている.従来のシステムは,日本語MS?DOS上で動作するシステムとして開発を始めたが,パーソナルコンピュータの急速な性能向上とWindowsの普及により,システムのプラットフォームとしてIBM PC/AT互換機とWindows環境への移植を行うことにした.従来,海外からの使用希望者への対応ができなかったが,新たに作成した尺八譜フォントを組み込むことにより,日本語版以外のWindows上でも動作可能となったため,これらの要望にも対応が可能である.本システムをWindows環境へ移殖すると伴に,機能の改善を行ったので報告する.We are developing a system which can input and edit the Shakuhachi tablature by handwriting input device. In addition to the editing facilities, the system has the ability for sound output, fingering display, SMF file input/output. The system was originally developed for the PCs with Japanese environment. By the rapid improvement for the PC and its OS, we started to implement the system to the IBM PC/AT compatible machines and Windows95 environment. In this paper, we introduce new system which will run on the both Japanese and English Windows95 operating system.
