症例は70歳代,女性。以前より他院呼吸器内科で咳と慢性副鼻腔炎のため増悪時のみ治療をされていた。2012年6月頃より全指趾爪の肥厚,成長遅延,一部の黄色変化をきたし,上記病院皮膚科で黄色爪症候群と診断されたが治療されなかったため同月当院を受診した。当科でも黄色爪症候群と診断し,クラリスロマイシン内服,ステロイド外用による治療を行ったが効果なかった。しかし,副鼻腔炎に対して処方された辛夷清肺湯内服を開始したところ,副鼻腔炎とともに爪症状も改善した。過去の症例においても呼吸器疾患の改善に伴い黄色爪の改善が報告されており,呼吸器疾患と黄色爪との関連が示唆された。(皮膚の科学,14: 175-178, 2015)

Hypertrophic scars are frequently observed at wound sites that had been subjected to cyclical stretch stimuli, such as skin of the anterior chest wall and lower abdomen. Previous studies found that cyclic stretch modulated fibroblast infiltration and collagen fiber remodeling compared with static culture conditions. However, these studies used homogeneous cultures that poorly replicated the physiological organization at the wound site. Similar to early studies, we hypothesized that cyclic stretch modulated fibroblast infiltration and collagen fiber remodeling compared with static culture conditions. However, we replaced the homogeneous culture condition used in previous studies with a novel two-gel wound model consisting of an inner decellularized collagen gel mimicking the wound site and an outer fibroblast gel simulating the epidermis. These models were then subjected to either 1-Hz uniaxial cyclical stretch for 3 h each day or were placed under static culture conditions. After day 4 in culture, we found two significant differences between specimens under the cyclic stretch conditions and those under static conditions. First, there were fewer fibroblast infiltrates in the inner wound-mimicking gel in cyclically stretched specimens than in statically stretched specimens. Second, the microstructure and orientation of collagen fibers in cyclically stretched specimens differed histologically from those in static culture. These results add to the growing evidence that cyclical stretch modulates the wound-healing process.

症例は死亡時74歳の男性である.小児期の急性灰白髄炎罹患後に左下肢麻痺が残存した.60歳頃より四肢筋力低下,72歳頃より呼吸機能障害・嚥下障害が進行し,発症約14年後に死亡した.神経病理学的には脊髄にポリオ後遺症と思われるplaque-like lesionのほか,脊髄全長にわたりグリオーシスを伴う前角細胞脱落を認めたが,Bunina小体やユビキチン・TDP43陽性封入体などamyotrophic lateral sclerosis(ALS)に特徴的とされる構造物は認めなかった.ポストポリオ症候群は稀に呼吸機能障害や嚥下障害が急速に進行して致死的となる場合があり,これらの病理所見はポストポリオ症候群による運動麻痺の進行と関連していると考えられた.

ヤケヒョウヒダニDermatophagoides pteronyssinus (TROUESSART)の耐寒性について調べた。雌成虫の過冷却点(SCP)の平均は摂食中で-22.7±1.25 (mean±S.D.)°Cだった。光学顕微鏡の冷却チャンバー内でSCP以下にダニを冷却したとき,体内に氷晶が形成されるのが観察された。氷晶形成後に再び室温に戻しても蘇生する個体はなかった。絶食によってSCPは低下したことから,消化管の内容物が氷晶核として作用していると考えられる。SCPより高い温度でも冷却期間を長くすると死亡率は高くなった。この場合の死亡要因は代謝系の異常か乾燥によると考えられる。

【目的】ローライズパンツは、最近若者を中心に利用されているが、その股上の浅さゆえに座位への動作により後ベルトが下方にずれ、下着が見えてしまうという問題がある。本研究では、パンツの股上丈、身体寸法、姿勢の違いによる適合性や動作適応性への影響などを着用実験により明らかにする目的で考察を試みた。【方法】実験時期は2005年10月から11月、被験者は女子大学生20名。実験衣はサイズが9ARで股上丈が25cm・23cm・21cm・19cm・17cmの5種をシーチングで試作。官能評価は立位・椅座・蹲踞・床座姿勢時における適合性と立位から座位への動作適応性について、外観の評価は立位姿勢時におけるシルエットの評価について。動作による後ベルトの「ずれ」は三次元動作解析より算出。【結果】 (1)各部位の適合性において股上丈の浅いパンツほど「ゆるい」と評価した。適合性と動作適応性において股上丈21cmのパンツを「合っている」「動きやすい」と評価した。 (2)腰囲・胴囲寸法が小さい者は股上丈が浅いほどシルエットが「わるい」と評価された。 (3)椅座姿勢と比較して床座・蹲踞姿勢で有意な「ずれ」が認められた。官能評価で「きつい」と評価される場合に「ずれ」が多く生じた。

Load carrying capacity of austenitic stainless steel component is increased due to hardening caused by neutron irradiation if no crack is included in the component. On the other hand, if a crack is initiated in the reactor components, the hardening may decrease the load carrying capacity due to reduction in fracture toughness. In this paper, in order to develop a failure assessment procedure of irradiated cracked components, characteristics of change in failure strength of stainless steels due to cold working were investigated. It was experimentally shown that the proof and tensile strengths were increased by the cold working, whereas the fracture toughness was decreased. The fracture strengths of a cylinder with a circumferential surface crack were analyzed using the obtained material properties. Although the cold working altered the failure mode from plastic collapse to the unsteady ductile crack growth, it did not reduce failure strengths even if 50% cold working was applied. The increase in failure strength was caused not only by increase in flow stress but also by reduction in J-integral value, which was brought by the change in stress-strain curve. It was shown that the failure strength of the hardened stainless steel components could be derived by the two-parameter method, in which the change in material properties could be reasonably considered.

A6061-T6 alloy has been used in the liner material of high-pressure hydrogen gas storage container that is mounted on a fuel cell vehicle. The degradation of the properties such as strength, toughness and hydrogen embrittlement resistance, etc., has been pointed out, because the grain structure of the mouthpiece part of the liner becomes coarse in the manufacturing process. The tensile and fatigue test for the specimens with different grain size were done, and the detected AE signals during the testing were analyzed. In the tensile test, the characteristics of the signals on dislocation motion, transgranular and intergranular fracture were extracted. In the fatigue test, it was shown that the possibility of which the damage is evaluated by the spectral analysis that utilizes the slope of an approximation straight line in the both logarithmic scale display of FFT analysis result. Then we proposed the amplitude ratio Rv that is the parameter which divided the maximum amplitude of signal for intergranular fracture by that of detected signal, and the correlation between the grain size and the Rv was recognized. These proposed information are able to be utilized in order to evaluate the damage of the container.

Background: In Japan, the incidence of kidney stones has increased markedly in recent decades. Major causes of kidney stones remain unclear, and limited data are available on the relationship between overweight/obesity and the incidence of kidney stones. We therefore evaluated body mass index (BMI) and the incidence of kidney stones in Japanese men.Methods: Of the workers at a gas company, 5984 males aged 20–40 years underwent a medical examination in 1985 (baseline). This study includes 4074 of the men, who were free of kidney stones at baseline and underwent a second medical examination performed between April 2004 and March 2005. BMI was calculated from measured height and weight in 1985, and men were categorized into tertiles. The development of kidney stones during follow-up was based on self-reports from questionnaires at the second medical examination.Results: The average duration of follow-up was 19 years, with 258 participants developing kidney stones during this period. Using the lowest BMI (1st tertile) group as a reference, the hazard ratios (95% confidence intervals [CIs]) for the 2nd and 3rd BMI tertiles were: 1.26 (95% CI, 0.92–1.73) and 1.44 (95% CI, 1.06–1.96), respectively (P for trend = 0.019). After additionally adjusting for potential confounders, such as age, systolic blood pressure, cardiorespiratory fitness, cigarette smoking, and alcohol consumption, the hazard ratios were 1.28 (95% CI, 0.93–1.76) and 1.41 (95% CI, 1.02–1.97), respectively (P for trend = 0.041).Conclusions: These results suggest that increased BMI is a risk factor for kidney stones in Japanese men.

For a new insight on solid lubricant of fullerenes and onion-like carbons (OLCs), we have performed scratch simulations on isolated fullerenes/OLCs and monolayer film of their array. Here, molecular dynamics simulation may overestimate bond-forming between the scratch surface and target carbons, so that we consider only the van der Waals interaction between the rigid diamond and fullerenes/OLCs. On this condition, both the isolated/layered fullerenes/OLCs doesn't show rotation but slip on the perfect (001) diamond surface, showing frictional coefficient lower than μ=0.05. On the other hand, the fullerenes/OLCs show rotation and higher frictional coefficients of μ=0.1∼0.3, if we set surface roughness on both scratch walls. In this rotational friction, larger fullerenes/OLCs show smaller frictional coefficients, and the fullerenes shows higher frictional coefficient than OLCs of same size.

一貫経営養豚場において, 生後30~90日齢の離乳子豚17例が育成豚舎へ移動直後に前駆症状を呈さず急死した. 死亡例では血清ビタミンE濃度の低下がみられ, 病理解剖学的に, 心膜水腫を示し, 心外膜, 心内膜, 心筋に点状ないし斑状赤色部が散在し, 病理組織学的に心外膜下, 心筋, 心内膜に及ぶ広範囲の出血が認められた.セレンを含むビタミンEを投与し, 特定交配雄を淘汰した結果, 病豚の発生は認められなくなり, マルベリー心臓病と考えられた. 家系および発症率の遺伝分析の結果, 本症は常染色体性単純劣性で遺伝することが判明した.

In this study, the ammonia gas adsorptivity was evaluated by carbide of coffee beans residue. Ammonia gas was used as a test gas. When organic compounds included some nitrogen atoms are rotted, ammonia gas breaks out. It has irritating smell. And, it shows corrosion effect for metal plating, copper and aluminum. 10 to 1000ppm ammonia gas concentrations were prepared in globe bags with the carbide samples. After 15min, 1h and 24h gas concentration in each glove bags were measured by gas detector tubes. The carbide samples of the coffee bean residue showed excellent ammonia gas adsorptivity.

本稿の目的は、戦後日本の家族社会学における社会調査の方法の定式化を、その成立期にまで遡及して考察することである。社会調査の方法については、それを量的方法と質的方法に区分し、前者を主とし後者を従とするウエイトをつけた補完関係にあるものとして位置づけることが一般的であるが、家族社会学においてもこれと同様の二分法的理解が、現在に至るまで広く普及している。本稿においては、家族社会学におけるこうした量的方法と質的方法という二分法的理解が、戦後日本の家族社会学が通常科学化した1960年代ごろに成立したものであることを、それを提起した小山隆を中心とする家族社会学に固有の要因と、より一般的な社会学および社会調査法をめぐる状況の両面から論証する。そのうえで、さらにそれがその後の家族社会学の展開においてどのような道筋をたどったのか、その方向性の概略的な見取り図を提起することにしたい。

工業用防腐防黴剤とは, 各種工業材料および工業製品の微生物による汚染, 変質, 劣化, 腐食などを防止するために用いられる薬剤と定義することができ, これにはプラスチック用, 金属加工油用, 繊維加工用, 塗料・接着剤用, 紙・パルプ用, 用水・廃水用, 皮革用, 食品工業用, 木材・建材用および光学機器用などがあり, きわめて多岐にわたっている.しかもその使用分野により防除の対象となる微生物が異なるため薬剤の種類は非常に多い.したがってこれらすべての分野にわたって, どんな薬剤がどのような使われ方をしているかなどの詳細については紙面の都合により解説はできないが, 私なりに以下にまとめた.

We examined what changes occurred in the activity and content of superoxide dismutase (SOD) in the blood and the amount of 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) in the urine as a consequence of oral administration of antioxidant health foods including plant-based SOD, vitamin C and vitamin E to seven healthy subjects every day for 15 days. Although there was a significant increase in the concentration of vitamins C and E in serum, there was a significant decrease in SOD (extracellular type) activity and Mn-SOD (mitochondrial type) content and a narrower range of variation therein. In contrast, there was a tendency toward an increase in the amount of 8-OHdG in the urine (observed in 6 of 7 subjects). We looked into the possibility that SOD activity was being inhibited by pycnogenol (water extract of the bark of the French maritime pine) as the main ingredient of the antioxidant health foods, and it became clear that SOD activity is included in pycnogenol. These results suggest that oral administration of antioxidant health foods containing SOD originating in plants has the effect of lowering the activity and content of SOD in the blood.

Utilizing 3D structured illumination microscopy, we investigated the quality and quantity of nuclear invaginations and the distribution of nuclear pores during rabbit early embryonic development and identified the exact time point of nucleoporin 153 (NUP153) association with chromatin during mitosis. Contrary to bovine early embryonic nuclei, featuring almost exclusively nuclear invaginations containing a small volume of cytoplasm, nuclei in rabbit early embryonic stages contain additionally numerous invaginations containing a large volume of cytoplasm. Small- volume invaginations frequently emanated from large-volume nuclear invaginations but not vice versa, indicating a different underlying mechanism. Large- and small- volume nuclear envelope invaginations required the presence of chromatin, as they were restricted to chromatin-positive areas. The chromatin-free contact areas between nucleolar precursor bodies (NPBs) and large-volume invaginations were free of nuclear pores. Small-volume invaginations were not in contact with NPBs. The number of invaginations and isolated intranuclear vesicles per nucleus peaked at the 4-cell stage. At this stage, the nuclear surface showed highly concentrated clusters of nuclear pores surrounded by areas free of nuclear pores. Isolated intranuclear lamina vesicles were usually NUP153 negative. Cytoplasmic, randomly distributed NUP153- positive clusters were highly abundant at the zygote stage and decreased in number until they were almost absent at the 8-cell stage and later. These large NUP153 clusters may represent a maternally provided NUP153 deposit, but they were not visible as clusters during mitosis. Major genome activation at the 8- to 16-cell stage may mark the switch from a necessity for a deposit to on-demand production. NUP153 association with chromatin is initiated during metaphase before the initiation of the regeneration of the lamina. To our knowledge, the present study demonstrates for the first time major remodeling of the nuclear envelope and its underlying lamina during rabbit preimplantation development.

Rhododendron simsii Planch. is distributed in eastern Asia, such as Ryukyu Islands of Japan, southern China, Taiwan, and Vietnam. It is a semideciduous shrub with five-lobed red corollas and reddish-purple blotches on the upper petals. From microscopic observation, reddish-purple colored cells were distributed only in the adaxial subepidermis of blotch areas in the upper petals, while red colored cells were observed in the whole epidermis of both upper and lower petals. Even though the anthocyanin constitutions of upper and lower petals were the same, the λmax of absorbance of fresh upper petals was 514.9 nm, while it was 505.7 nm in the lower petals. In R. simsii flowers, cyanidin glycosides were major anthocyanins in whole petals. Quercetin glycosides were detected in reddish-purple blotch areas, but they were found only in trace amounts in lower petals. Anthocyanins and flavonols were extracted, and separated by column chromatography. Bathochromic shift (9.7 nm) was observed in mixed solution of anthocyanin and flavonol at a ratio of concentration of 1:7.5. These results were similar to the bathochromic shift obtained between upper and lower petals of intact flowers (9.2 nm). From these findings, co-pigmentation between anthocyanin and flavonol (quercetin glycosides) seems to be a key factor of reddish-purple color of the blotch area in the upper petals of R. simsii flowers.
