Lumbago occurs when load causes malformation of the flexible intervertebral disks of the lumbar vertebrae. The conventional method of measuring load on the intervertebral disk is an invasive method in which the internal pressure of the intervertebral disk is measured by directly inserting an electrode. In this study, intervertebral disk load is derived indirectly by the noninvasive estimation method that uses three-dimensional motion analysis system and signal processing to estimate the shape of the lumbar vertebrae. Specific estimation method is shown as follows. First, vertebra is assumed to a rigid body. Next, lumbar vertebrae are approximated with an arc using 3-D positional coordinates. Finally, average of the intervertebral gap is estimated. Accordingly, because the proposed method only entails applying markers to the surface of the back and taking pictures with cameras, it is safe and does not require surgical procedures. Furthermore, this method allows estimation of intervertebral disk load in a moving subject. In this paper, the proposed method is described in detail. And an experiment in which intervertebral disk load is estimated from stationary postures is executed. Moreover the proposed method is compared with the conventional method. As a results, the experiment shows that the proposed method is effective in that the magnitude correlation tendencies of intervertebral disk load estimated with the proposed method are qualitatively consistent with the tendencies calculated from actual measurements of internal pressure.

交通事故統合データと後遺障害データ,ならびに交通外傷データを用いたデータベースを構築し、従来のマクロデータでは分析のできなかった人体部位別のより詳細な傷害内容,さらに衝突形態毎の後遺障害部位とその程度の発生状況などを把握した。

Conventional X-ray protein crystallography captures only “static” structures due to the limitation of temporal resolution. Recently, X-ray free electron lasers(XFEL)enabled to capture dynamic structures at the atomic level with time resolutions of several tenth femtoseconds. We have been working on the development of serial femtosecond crystallography(SFX), which is a protein structure determination technique, at SACLA and successfully obtained “molecular movies” of various proteins by combining an X-ray free electron laser with a reaction trigger. This technique is suitable for tracking fast reactions such as chemical reactions because of its high temporal resolution. We will describe current advances and future prospects of molecular movies using XFEL.

多様な音声表現が可能な対話音声合成の構築を目的として,複数の異なる音声表現を収集する手法の設計に取り組んだ.従来は,それぞれを適切な表現とすることに注意が向けられ,互いに他の表現とは無関係に表出させた音声が収集されていた.しかし,このような収集方法を採ると,それぞれの表現の隔たりが大きくなり,それらの合成音声を対話の流れの中で発話ごとに使い分けたときに違和感が生じるという問題が起こる.そこで,話し手の心的状態が次々と変化して,収集したい音声表現が満遍なく出現するように進行する対話シナリオを導入した収集手法を設計した.所望の音声表現を対話の流れの中で順に表出させることで,全体としての調和が保たれた表現となることが期待できる.実際に,対話の状況に応じて異なる複数の音声表現を収集し,これらと従来の方法で収集した音声表現とに基づく合成音声を用いたそれぞれの模擬対話の対比較による主観評価を行った.本手法で収集した音声表現の合成音声では,異なる表現を対話の流れの中で使い分けたときの自然性が改善されていることが示され,本手法の有効性が確認された.

本研究は,新型感染症・発症予防対策などの公衆衛生分野における法の役割に関する日本・台湾・合衆国の比較研究である.そのため,文献研究と実地調査を交えて,今般のコロナ蔓延時などの緊急事態下のみならず,人々の健康全般および発症予防を重視する平時の「パブリック・ヘルス・ロー」の視覚とその具体的な法制についても包括的に検討する.従来十分注目されることのなかった,パブリック・ヘルス・ロー(「公衆衛生と法」)を包括的に検討し,未知の部分も多い新型感染症など緊急事態下の対応と,発症予防を中心とした新生児スクリーニングや予防接種などにおける平時のパブリック・ヘルス・ローの機能について,共通性と差異を検討する.

This essay aims to explore the concept of "shame–honor" in Bugis–Makassar society in South Sulawesi, Indonesia. The concept of "shame–honor" is known locally as siri' and is noted by scholars to be one of the most important cultural values for the Bugis–Makassar people. In previous research, siri' has been mostly discussed in malefemale relationships, especially in regards to elopement or as the motive for numerous murders. Little research has been conducted about the role of siri' in other forms of social relationships in Bugis–Makassar society. This essay attempts to clarify and show the importance of "maseddi siri' " ("unite in siri' "), a phrase that encourages people to join together in groups to defend their honor. Using historical facts and newspaper articles, the essay will show how these action groups can form at different levels (kinship, neighborhood, transmigrants, guerillas, ethnic groups, and kingdoms) for different purposes. The paper will also show that people in Bugis–Makassar society can "unite in siri' " according to their specifi c situations.

ネコにおける被毛中水銀濃度と各種疾病の関係の予備的検討として、動物病院に来院した健常ネコ(n=33)と疾病ネコ(n=67)の被毛中水銀濃度を測定した。次いで、健常ネコの被毛中水銀濃度から暫定参照値上限を算出し、各種疾病のネコにおける被毛中水銀濃度との比較を行った。健常ネコの被毛中水銀濃度は0.2~6.4 mg/kgの範囲であった。得られた暫定参照値上限は9.2 mg/kgであり、健常ネコで暫定参照値上限を上回る個体は無かった。疾病ネコの被毛中水銀濃度は0.1~17.5 mg/kgの範囲であり、2頭の被毛中水銀濃度が暫定参照値上限を上回っていた。本試験では、ヒトやネコでの水銀中毒症として報告されている精神神経系疾患のネコが3頭、また、ヒトでの水銀中毒症として報告されている循環器系疾患のネコが3頭認められたが、いずれも暫定参照値上限を下回っていた。一方、口内炎と診断されたネコ4頭の内、2頭が暫定参照値上限を大きく上回っており、ネコにおける口内炎の一部が水銀過剰摂取と関連する可能性は否定できなかった。

Transient receptor potential vanilloid 2 (TRPV2) channels are expressed and play functional roles in various immune cells. Physical stimuli leading to TRPV2 activation causes mast cell degranulation. Besides their roles in immune cells, it has been shown that TRPV2 channels are pathophysiologically relevant to degenerative muscular diseases such as dilated cardiomyopathy and muscular dystrophy. Hence, development of drug candidates that inhibit human TRPV2 activation is an urgent matter. NK-4, a cryptocyanine dye, inhibited agonist-induced TRPV2 activity in mouse TRPV2-transfected HEK293 cells. However, it remains unclear whether NK-4 exerts regulatory effects on the activation of human TRPV2 channels. In this study, we show that NK-4 inhibits intracellular Ca2+ increase in human TRPV2-transfected HEK293 cells preactivated with a TRPV2 agonist. The inhibitory effect of NK-4 (IC50 = 0.27 μM) on human TRPV2 activation was 74-fold stronger than that on mouse TRPV2 activation (IC50 = 20 μM). NK-4 also inhibited the agonist-induced TRPV2 expression at the plasma membrane, when the human TRPV2-expressing cells were stimulated with the agonist in the presence of NK-4. These results suggest that NK-4 abrogates the agonist-induced signaling events leading to human TRPV2 activation. Furthermore, TRPV2 agonist caused degranulation of RBL-2H3 cells, which represents a phenomenon related to physical urticarias. NK-4 suppressed the release of β-hexosaminidases upon degradation with IC50 of 1.9 μM, 35-fold lower than that determined with an anti-allergic drug, Epinastine. Our results suggest that NK-4 would be a potential therapeutic strategy to resolve dilated cardiomyopathy and its associated heart failure as well as physical urticarias.

In the IoT ecosystem built by data platformers, algorithms are building further competitive advantages in large-scale teacher data and machine learning by increasing predictability through self-enhancement actions. It is hard to say that Japanese companies have a strong presence in the platform business, and it is not easy to build an advantage for Japanese companies from the viewpoint of population size and language. Therefore, in the business area which does not necessarily depend on large-scale data, we constructed deferred acceptance (da) algorithm and sought the area in which the optimal allocation of resources can be realized by providing them. As a result, it was suggested that the current assignment can be significantly improved by using the da algorithm. Japanese companies wonder if they can build a competitive advantage by steadily creating optimal algorithms in fields that do not rely on large-scale data or machine learning.

The family of ergot alkaloids produced by the fungus Claviceps purpurea is one of the most intriguing classes of natural products because of their broad biological and pharmacological activities. Despite intensive synthetic investigations, most synthetic studies of the ergot alkaloids, particularly (+)-lysergic acid, (+)-lysergol and (+)-isolysergol, have relied on a stepwise linear approach for the construction of the C/D ring system. Recently, we developed a palladium-catalyzed domino cyclization of the racemic allenic amide to provide the tetracyclic core of ergot alkaloids. In this study, we constructed the chiral allenic amide via the two synthetic routes using aldehyde alkynylation/asymmetric hydrogenation or asymmetric epoxidation/regioselective reductive ring-opening reaction. Using the resulting chiral allenic amide , enantioselective total syntheses of (+)-lysergic acid, (+)-lysergol and (+)-isolysergol were accomplished.

FLASH Radiotherapyは超高線量率照射のことであり,「障害が軽減される特性」を有している。そのため,放射線治療の今までの概念を覆すものであり,臨床応用ができれば,放射線治療分野でパラダイムシフトとなる潜在的可能性を秘めている。本総説では,背景,生物学的内容,メカニズムや臨床応用へ向けた取り組みなどについて紹介する。

The number of the recipients of public assistance living in public housing has recently increased. There is a tendency to construct public housing in outskirts of big cities. Naturally, the recipients of public assistance concentrate in those areas. In this study we tried to investigate the background of this phenomena through analyzing 2014 case records of the recipients of public assistance in one particular city area. We have found out that the recipients of public assistance living in public housing have some characteristics which differ them from the recipients living in non-public housing. Their families are bigger, their housing situation has been secure for a comparatively long period of time, and they are "multi-problem families". If these families had not been provided with public housing, they wouldn't be able to live together ; the family structure would probably break down. Public assistance and public housing help consolidate the family, but don't solve their problems. Such families remain to be "multiproblem families" and conseqeuently they continue to receive public assistance for a very long time, sometimes through the next generation. We belive that concentration of such families in a certain city area creates "new slums".

The EU Water Framework Directive was adopted in 2000 to establish a legal framework in order toprotect clean water and restore its availability in adequate quantities across Europe. The key objectiveof the directive is to achieve the “good water status” for all European waters by 2015. Publicparticipation is one of the main instruments addressed by the directive in order to achieve thisobjective. This paper examines the concept of public participation in the directive and the role ofenvironmental information in public participation. The results will be useful when improvements inpublic participation systems are to be considered in Japan.
