近年 ピットマップ画面とマウス装置を持ち Unixオペレーティングシステムを搭載した高機能ワークステーションが多く見られるようになっている.しかし実際にこれらのシステムの使われ方を見ると 利用者は単にピットマップ画面上に複数の端末窓を開き その上で作業をしているにすぎないことが多いように思われる.そこで筆者らはそのような環境の問題点を分析し ごく少数のツールを作成することでその欠点を補うことを試みた.これらのツールは既存のUnix環境を置き換えるものではなく Unixの多数の指令群と有機的に組み合わせて使えるようなものとした.これらのツール群は起動されると端末窓とは独立に窓を開き そこに表示された情報は利用者が陽に指示するまで消えることなく利用可能である.これらのツール群により非常に多数の窓が作られるため その有機的な関係を整理し使いやすくすることにも留意した.またこれらのツール群の有効性を調べるための簡単な模擬実験も行ったが その結果 必要な情報がスクロールして消えて行ってしまうという端末窓の問題点が大幅に改善されたとの感触を得た.

The overvoltage associated with direct lightning hits has been the important factor for the insulation design of a distribution line. In this paper, the sparkover rate of a medium-voltage line associated with direct lightning hits is investigated based on numerical calculations obtained by using EMTP and statistical analysis by taking account of the correlation between the peak value and the front duration of return-stroke current waveform. When the line is equipped with surge arresters at the interval of 100m in addition to the overhead ground wire, the sparkover rate associated with subsequent strokes is higher than that associated with first strokes. This demonstrates the importance of the study of current parameters for subsequent strokes.

Fundamental experiments were carried out to determine the micro-amounts of aluminium by spectrophotometry, using chrome azurol S, a reagent used in complexometric titration of copper, zirconium and aluminium. By this new method, most part of the iron content was separated by methyl isobutyl ketone, and the remaining iron and copper was masked by thioglycolic acid and after adjusting the pH to 5.6-6.8, the absorbance of the aluminium chelate compound was measured at 550 mμ. This method requires only a few reagents and does not need warming for promoting coloration, nor does it require the protecting colloid in contrast with the aluminon method. Since this reagent presents very sensitive color reaction even in micro-amounts of aluminium, 0.002 to 0.1 per cent of it can be determined with good reproducibility.

21世紀を目前に控え,急ピツチで加速する高齢化社会にだれもが確実に年をとり,何らかの障害を持ち得る可能性に真正面から向き合わなければならない時代が,もうすぐやってくる。そのような時代の到来をにらんで「バリアフリー」が唱えられて久しいが,現実がその方向へ進み始めたのはごく最近のことでもある。そして今,あらゆる人が安全で,快適に暮らすことができるような社会の実現を目指す新たなキーワードとして「ユニバーサル・デザイン」が注目を集めている。

本稿では,管理の容易な広域分散ファイルシステムPNFS(roxy/Private Network File Syste)を提案する.PNFSでは,proxyにおいて利用者情報の自動取得・変換機能を提供することにより,利用者が遠隔地にアカウントがあれば,管理者の手を煩わせることなく遠隔地のファイルを共有することができる.このファイル共有やファイルアクセスにおいては,暗号化技術によりセキュリティを高めている.また,PNFSの評価についても述べる.In this paper, the design and implementation of PNFS, a secure private network file system is introduced. On PNFS, each user who has an account on a remote machine can mount remote files without the assistance of the system administrator. PNFS also provides message encryption/authentication facilities in order to enhance the security level of NFS. The evaluation of PNFS is also discussed.

生殖巣の組織学的観察をもとに, 沖縄島金武湾の海草藻場のホソスジヒバリガイ個体群の繁殖と産卵について調査を行った。生殖巣の発達する7月から10月の期間中に顕著な産卵のピークが3回確認され, それぞれの産卵ピークの間隔は約45日間であった。また, この期間中(7-9月)に台風が襲来し, その影響により急激な水温の低下が確認された。しかし, 本研究では, 産卵と台風襲来による物理的環境変化(急激な水温の降下)との間に, また産卵と月齢との間に, 密接な関連性を確認できなかった。

ここ数年の間に, メモリCPU間の広いバンド幅を利用して, 画像, 音声データを別プロセッサでなく, CPU内で処理するため, 専用の命令を持つプロセッサが現れてきた. これらのマルチメディア命令セットは, ごく小規模なSIMD命令として実現されている. そのため, 画像, 音声処理だけでなく, 複数要素に対し同一の操作を繰り返す文字列処理, 一部の記号処理操作の高速化も期待できる. 本研究ではインテル386アーキテクチャに加わったマルチメディア命令セットであるMMX命令を用いて文字列処理, 記号処理のプログラムを高速化するための技法を提案し, その評価をおこなった. その結果, チューニングが必要になるものの, 一部の文字列処理関数で、2倍以上の高速化が実現できることを確かめた. ただし, 記号処理に関しては良い結果は得られなかった.

The aqueous phase of the cell walls inside leaves (apoplast) of spinach contained ascorbate (AA) and dehydroascorbate (DHA). Ratios of AA to AA plus DHA were between 0.4 and 0.9, whereas those inside leaves were higher than 0.9. The amounts of AA plus DHA in the apoplast were between 15 and 60 nmol (g fr wt)^<-1> of leaves. If the volume of the apoplast is about 10% of total volume of leaf cells, the concentrations of AA plus DHA were between 0.15 and 0.6 mM. Apoplastic AA was oxidized by hydrogen peroxide, and the oxidation was stimulated by phenolics such as caffeic acid or ferulic acid by a factor of 10, suggesting the presence in apoplast of peroxidases which are different from AA peroxidase. The stimulation was due to the oxidation of AA by the primary oxidation products of phenolics with apoplastic peroxidase. Based on the data, the physiological significance of the occurrence of AA in the apoplast is discussed in relation to the regulation of the apoplastic oxidation of phenolics.

万田31号は,作物の収量と品質を高める発酵自然植物凝集物である.万田31号がウコンの生育および収量に効果的であるかを調べるために,1999年5月から2000年2月にかけて琉球大学の亜熱帯フィールド科学教育研究センターの実験圃場で試験した.試験区を葉,土壌,葉と上壌の3つに分け. 100ppmの万田31号を15日間隔で10回施用した.ところが,1999年9月22日に強い台風が発生し,すべての圃場のウコンが大きな被害を受けた.しかしながら,台風後のウコンの回復力に万田31号施用区と無施用区では大きな違いが見られ,興味深い結果を示した.万田31号施用区と無施用区における台風後のウコンの被害の回復,生育および収量について調査した.その結果,万田31号施用区では,新しい分けつの発生と新芽が台風後15日目に確認でき,約70%の植物体は,万田31号の施用を続けることでウコンは順調に回復し,台風後,12月まで生育は良好であった.一方,万田31号施用区に隣接している無施用区においては,施用区から4〜11m離れた畝のウコン収量は,11m以上離れたウコンの収量よりも有意に高く,18m以上離れた畝の植物体は,台風後40日以内に枯死した.総じてウコンの収量は,万田31号施用区が無施用区に比べて約3倍高かった.これらの結果は,万田31号は台風によるストレスに効果的で,しかも,万田施用区近隣の植物体にまで有利に働くと考えられる.万田31号の効用は,激しい降雨による流水によって隣接する圃場へ移動すると推察された.

This study was carried out to find out whether embresure clasp has a support ability on the movement of an abutment tooth of the partial denture under the condition of alveoral bone resorption. Two types of chrome-cobalt removable partial denture castings were fabricated on a mandibular test model simulating a free-end saddle. The compornent parts of each casting were Akers' clasp or embresure clasp on an abutment tooth, indirect retainers (Akers' clasps on teeth Nos. 44 and 47), a lingual bar and a metal base with loading platform. The height of the alveoral bone portion around the abutment tooth was set in two positions, which were at no reduction and 1/4 reduction, respectively. The partial denture castings were seated with a 2 kgf load by a loading apparatus. The movement of the abutment tooth was measured at a higher magnification using an indicator rod attached to the occlusal surface of the tooth. The Sirognatho analyzer system was used to analyze the direction and magnitude of abutment tooth movement. The results were as follows : The direction of abutment tooth movement by the load was mesial when observed in the mesio-distal direction. 2. When observed in the bucco-lingual direction, the abutment tooth movement on both direct retainer was mesio-lingual direction under the alveoral ridge crest load and the lingual load respectively, but the one under the buccal load showed mesio-buccal movement. 3. Abutment tooth movement increased according to the reduction of the alveoral bone portion. The distance of abutment tooth movement with embresure clasp was smaller than that with Akers' clasp. These results suggested that embresure clasp would be efficient as a direct retainer for the abutment tooth under the condition of alveolar bone resorption.

The purpose of this study was to clarify the surface roughness of 31 brands of titanium alloy orthodontic wires from 13 manufacturers using a confocal optical microscope. Cobalt-chrome and stainless steel wire were also examined as a reference of comparison. The following results were obtained ; (1) Mean Ra, as determined from the lengthway axis of titanium alloy wires, was 0.296μm, and that determined from the widthway axis was 0.440μm. The modulus of Ra was 0.368μm. (2) For titanium alloy orthodontic wires, the greatest amount of modulus of Ra was 1.244μm and the lowest was 0.135μm. (3) Modulus of Ra was 0.140μm for the cobalt-chrome wire and 0.154μm for the stainless steel wire, each lower tendency than titanium alloy. As a result of our findings, we consider it necessary to select the smoother wire possible when using a sliding mechanism, if the mechanical properties of available wires are nearly the same.

I (chap. 10〜13): Le petit Cenacle et ses relations avec Victor Hugo. De 1831 a 1832, Nerval et Gautier, avec d'autres jeunes artistes et poetes comme J. Duseigneur, P. Borel, A. Maquet, Ph. O'Neddy, C. Nanteuil, forment une association nommee le Petit Cenacle. Victor Hugo est le roi idolatre de cette jeunesse ivre de liberte dans l'Art et exaltee par le triomphe d'Hernani. Nerval ebauche plusieurs pieces dramatiques, mais aucune ne sera representee. Gautier s' essaye plutot a la poesie et aux contes fantastiques. Tous les deux publient des poemes et des articles dans les memes periodiques tels que Mercure de France au 19^e siecle, Le Cabinet de lecture, etc. Pour defendre la nouvelle ecole romantique, ils assistent a la premiere representation de Marion De Lorme (11 aout 1831). Dans la preface de ce drame, Hugo fait appel aux jeunes gens, en declarant qu'il est "bien fier de leur appartenir et bien glorieux d'avoir vu quelquefois son nom dans leur bouche". Les deux disciples rendent hommage a l'auteur de Motre-Dame de Paris en faisant chacun des vers consacres a la vieille Cathedrale. Gautier y ajoute volontiers le theme pittoresque si cher a Hugo: "Coucher du soleil". Quand Duseigneur a expose un buste de Hugo et les portraits en medaillons de la <<camaraderie>>, Gautier en fait un article elogieux. Le Maitre et ses disciples se soutiennent ainsi reciproquement. Les membres du Cenacle font en toute occasion la louange du grand poete. L'ode artistique dediee par Gautier au sculpteur Duseigneur, et tout le volume de Rhapsodies, par P. Borel dit le Lycanthrope, parseme de citations de tous les camarades, en offrent deux exemples typiques: ils veulent avant tout celebrer leur amitie, leur solidarity leur haine commune contre le siecle in fame domine par la bourgeoisie. II (chap. 14〜16): Problemes d'attribution et de restitution: recit des quiproquos et cas du Gastronome. On sait qu'un grand nombre d'articles anonymes ou sous divers pseudonymes sont trop genereusement attribues a Nerval. L'etude recente de Michel Brix nous a eclaires sur chaque attribution douteuse, et on peut constater par exemple la perte entiere des douze <<contes fantastiques>> qui furent recueillis dans le second tome des CEuvres completes de G. de Nerval (Champion, 1928). Le probleme difficile d'attribution se presente des le debut de la vie litteraire de Nerval et de Gautier. Nous examinons en particulier deux textes, non signes, parus en 1831 dans Le Gastronome: Cauchemar d'un mangeur, longtemps attribue a Nerval puis restitue a Gautier depuis 1961, et Un repas au desert d'Egypte, le premier article du jeune Gautier, decouvert par Lovenjoul. Ensuite nous etudions les suppositions qui indiquent W. Irving comme sources de leurs recits fantastiques (Cauchemar d'un mangeur, La Cafetiere, Le Monstre vert). Si les ecrivains contemporains echangent frequemment des themes nouveaux, des images seduisantes, des idees en vogue, cela n'a rien de surprenant, surtout a cette epoque ou les adaptations libres et les emprunts ne sont pas prohibes, et on rencontre par consequent de nombreuses imitations, banales ou "creatrices". Il est donc hasardeux de deduire l'origine ou la parente de tel ecrit anonyme sur la seule foi d'images semblables retrouvees dans d'autres ouvrages. (a suivre)

C'est surtout avec The Symbolist movement in literature d'Arthur Symons que Gerard de Nerval fut introduit au Japon, vers la fin de l'epoque de Meiji, si passionnante, qui connaissait en meme temps et la vogue du naturalisme et la decouverte de la theorie symboliste. Tous les ecrivains, avides d'apprendre et de saisir les nouvelles idees litteraires occidentales, les poetes symbolistes tels KANBARA Ariake, MIKI Rofu, les critiques comme HASEGAWA Tenkei, IWANO Homei, KURIYAGAWA Hakuson, et meme des romanciers naturalistes comme SIMAZAKI Toson, TAYAMA Katai lisent ce prestigieux livre et en sont vivement impressionnes. Le nom de Nerval, qui y occupe une place privilegiee comme "precurseur du symbolisme" etait done plutot celebre, sans qu'on connaisse pourtant les oeuvres elles-memes excepte Vers dores et Artemis cites en entier par le critique anglais. La traduction japonaise par IWANO Homei (1913) est encore capable, malgre les grosses fautes qu'on y impute, d'enchanter la jeune generation des annees 1925-30, dont le poete TOMINAGA Taro qui est obsede par ce "regard qui t'epie, dans le mur aveugle", les eminents critiques tels que KOBAYASHI Hideo et KAWAKAMI Tetsutaro, et enfin NAKAHARA Chuya qui questionne Nerval avec un interet profondement personnel au point qu'il tente de presenter quelques poemes et Aurelia aux lecteurs japonais. Dans le domaine de la traduction, en effet, Nerval n'avait pas connu la fortune florissante de la poesie frangaise qui jouissait alors de publications successives, en revues ou en recueils, suivant l'eclatant exemple de Kaichdon (1905) et puis de Sangoshu (1913) dont l'immense influence est tant vantee. Pendant un demi-siecle apres sa mort, Nerval n'etait qu'un petit romantique, tombe dans l'oubli. Les manuels de l'histoire litteraire ne le mentionnent pas, les anthologies poetiques ne le choisissent pas. II est tout naturel qu'il n'attire pas l'attention de la plupart des traducteurs qui cherchent toujours les nouveautes recentes, les derniers symbolistes entre autres. Seul le poete populaire SAIJO Yaso trouve le charme secret d'une de ses meilleures odelettes: Fantaisie dont il publie la traduction en 1926. D'autre part, l'etude plus serieuse et approfondie de la litterature frangaise, dirigee par des professeurs universitaires comme TATSUNO Yutaka et SUZUKI Shintaro, fait decouvrir petit a petit une connaissance plus exacte de la poesie du 19 siecle, et a la Faculte des Lettres de l'Universite de Tokyo, vers 1930, deux jeunes chercheurs semblent s'interesser a notre poete dont "la montee lumineuse" se declenchait en France de tous les parts. OGAWA Taiichi, parlant de Nerval avec un amour sincere, redige une chronologic de sa vie suffisamment detaillee (1930), mais meurt prematurement sans achever son Etude sur Nerval qu'il annoncait. L'autre jeune nervalien TSUJINO Hisanori qui publie en feuilleton la premiere traduction d'Aurelia (1933-34) est lui aussi bientot emporte par la maladie a peu pres en meme temps que NAKAHARA Chuya.
