To tackle financial crimes including fraudulent financial transactions (FFTs), money laundering, illegal money transfers, and bank transfer scams, several attempts have been considered to employ artificial intelligence (AI)-based FFT detection systems, particularly, deep learning-based ones. However, to the best of our knowledge, no federated learning systems using real transaction data among financial institutions have been implemented so far. This is because there are several issues to be addressed as follows: (1) it is difficult to prepare sufficient amount of transaction data for training by one financial institution (e.g., a local bank), and a small amount of dataset does not promise high accuracy for detection, (2) each transaction data contains personal information, and thus it is restricted by Act on the Protection of Personal Information in Japan to provide the transaction data to a third party. In this paper, we introduce out demonstration experimental results of privacy-preserving federated learning with five banks in Japan: the Chiba Bank, Ltd., MUFG Bank, Ltd., the Chugoku Bank, Ltd., Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, Ltd., and the Iyo Bank, Ltd. As the underlying cryptographic tool, we proposed a privacy-preserving federated learning protocol which we call DeepProtect, for detecting fraudulent financial transactions. Briefly, DeepProtect allows parties to execute the stochastic gradient descent algorithm using a set of techniques for the privacy-preserving deep learning algorithms (IEEE TIFS 2018, 2019). In the demonstration experiments, we built machine learning models for detecting two types of financial frauds ― detecting fraudulent transactions in customers/victims' accounts and detecting criminals' bank accounts. We show that our federated learning system detected FFTs that could not be detected by the model built using the dataset from a single bank and detected criminals' bank accounts before the bank actually froze them.------------------------------This is a preprint of an article intended for publication Journal ofInformation Processing(JIP). The myological illustrations here presented are based on more than ten examples of Columba livia (Carrier Pigeons killed by cats), studied during 1945-46. The illustrations have been so devised as the origin and insertion of each muscle could be shown not hidden by other muscles, by restricting the number of muscles in one illustration. The originals were prepared with different colors by muscle belly, tendon and bone, but here they are reproduced by ordinal drawings.Appendicular (wing and leg) and caudal muscles only are illustrated (partly cited in author's previous works) and listed, according to Berger's (George & Berger, 1966) nomenclature, and the names used by the author in his previous works are added to the list when different from Berger's. Minute muscles, one in the wing (on radiale) and three of caudal region, are additions to Berger's list, though their further confirmation is necessary. Illustrations of muscles of Columba livia other than figured here are to be found in the literature given in this paper.

本邦における薬酒の由来は中国よりの渡来に源を発するものであり,中世以降には単味・多味いずれの場合にも日本独自のものに変えた薬酒の出現が認められる。この日本薬酒の発展過程では, 比較的高水準の中医学理論に基づく正統的流れから種々の変方が派生し, 時代と共に変化してきた事実が方義解析を用いて立証できる。特に近代に至ると, 漢方医学真髄の伝承には極めて困難な情況となり, 理論的根拠の脆弱化を招き方組成の乱れが増して来た。ここには, 日本薬酒の効能が「滋養強壮」に限定され, しかもその定義が明確でなかった経緯がある。この問題点を解決するために,「滋養強壮」の定義を中医学理論に基づく厳密な考察により確定し,「滋養強壮剤」としての薬酒の意義と基本構成を論じ, 薬酒方剤の組方原則と薬物配合量を考察した。この基本路線の上に, 今後の日本薬酒の在るべき姿を展望し, 薬酒方剤の正しい発展と適正な利用を提言した。

目的:過換気症候群(HVS)と診断された症例を後方視的に検討した。方法:2009年4月からの3年間に当院へ救急車で搬送されたHVS 653例の特徴を検討した。結果:当院へのHVS救急車搬送は,全搬送数に占めるHVSの比率が高く,若年者・女性・昼間発症例が多く,複数回搬送が少なく,精神疾患の既往が多く,鎮静薬の投与比率が低い,などの特徴があげられた。これらの特徴は,当院の立地が大きく影響していると考えられた。結論:HVSは「過換気と呼吸性アルカローシス(RA)に関連する症状」と「症状の急速な改善」だけで診断することが可能と考えられた。ただし,症状の速やかな改善がない場合は必ず,可及的に過換気を生じる器質的疾患を除外する,あるいは血液ガス分析でRAを確認する必要があると考える。

Agrobacterium-mediated transformation is a key innovation for plant breeding, and routinely used in basic researches and applied biology. However, the transformation efficiency is often the limiting factor of this technique. In this study, we discovered that oxicam-type nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, including tenoxicam (TNX), increase the efficiency of Agrobacterium-mediated transient transformation. TNX treatment increased the transformation efficiency of Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of Arabidopsis thaliana mature leaves by agroinfiltration. The increase of efficiency by TNX treatment was not observed in dde2/ein2/pad4/sid2 quadruple mutant, indicating that TNX inhibits the immune system mediated by jasmonic acid, ethylene, and salicylic acid against to Agrobacterium. We also found that TNX-treatment is applicable for the transient expression and subcellular localization analysis of fluorescent-tagged proteins in Arabidopsis leaf cells. In addition, we found that TNX increases the efficiency of Agrobacterium-mediated transient transformation of Jatropha. Given that treatment with oxicam compounds is a simple and cost effective method, our findings will provide a new option to overcome limitations associated with Agrobacterium-mediated transformation of various plant species.

プロポフォールは全身麻酔や集中治療に広く使用されている注目すべき麻酔薬である.プロポフォール注入症候群(propofol infusion syndrome:PRIS)は高用量プロポフォール注入に関連するまれな合併症であるが,それは致命的となる.さらに,PRISのメカニズムはまだ不明であり,効果的な治療法はない.PRISは通常,長期間にわたって大量のプロポフォールを投与した場合に発生するが,最近の症例報告では,低用量のプロポフォール注入による発生も報告されている.われわれは,PRISに関する知識を増やす必要がある.

妊娠中の腰痛はマイナートラブルとされているが、妊婦の多くが腰痛を経験していることから、避けられない問題であると考えられる。本研究の目的は、先行研究で採用した前額面の姿勢アライメントと腰部脊柱起立筋の筋硬度と腰痛について、妊娠中から出産後の変化パターンを明らかにすることである。対象群は、初産婦26名とコントロール群11名であった。その結果、①妊娠34週で腰痛を訴える人が増加するがその後有意に変化しない、②腰痛部の罹患は産前産後を通して変化しない、③仙腸関節周辺部痛の罹患と骨盤の水平方向への開きは、妊娠36週に増加し出産後1ヶ月で減少するパターンを呈する、④筋硬度は妊娠後期に左右非対称に高くなり、出産後約1ヶ月まで継続することが明らかとなった。出産後の女性の身体状況の回復には約1ヶ月かかると考えられることから、出産後の生活を考慮した指導を妊娠中に実施する必要があることが示唆された。

This study examines how oni, demon-like creatures of Japanese folklore, are expressed in the popular Japanese comic series “Kimetsu no Yaiba” by Gotouge Koyoharu serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2016 to 2021 by applying a framework called Monster Theory. The publication of this theory advocated by Jeffrey Jerome Cohen and made up of seven theses regarding the nature of monsters, marked the beginning of a surge in popularity of studies and research related to monsters in Europe and the United States and is a theory that attempts to clarify the meanings of monsters that appear in various modern media creations. Previous studies have shown that the presence of monsters has been useful as an indicator of social normative and non-normative distinctions, but such analyses have been primarily focused on the explication of literature and cinema. In this study, I would like to provide an example of the application of monster theory to the graphic narrative format-specifically the medium of Japanese comics. As “Kimetsu no Yaiba” provides nuanced expressions of oni, monsters that have a long history in Japan and are tied intimately to various aspects of Japanese culture past and present, it will serve as a worthy example of a robust application of the Monster Theory framework to the graphic narrative format. Through such application, I would like to develop a deeper understanding of the psychology that society has toward the self and the Other and uncover examples of alternative viewpoints within the work related to the attitudes the author thinks people should hold in regard to the self and those Others.First, I will give a short introduction to Monster Studies and Monster Theory and its applications, especially to the medium of comics. Then I will discuss the evolution of the monster’s role in society and the history of oni in Japan. After describing typical perceptions of oni and traditional representations of oni in Japanese comics, I will delve into how the main characters and oni of “Kimetsu no Yaiba” provide clear examples of several aspects of Cohen’s Monster Theory, and I will give examples that relate to each of the seven theses contained within the Monster Theory framework to expose the potential of the work as a tool for developing new more nuanced attitudes toward the self and the Other.

Fenquinotrione is a novel rice herbicide that was discovered and developed by Kumiai Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. It can control a wide range of broadleaf and sedge weeds with excellent rice selectivity at 30 g a.i./10 a and is as effective as the wild type on acetolactate synthase inhibitor-resistant weeds. Our metabolic and molecular biological studies showed that CYP81A6-mediated demethylation and subsequent glucose conjugation are responsible for the safety of fenquinotrione in rice. Fenquinotrione was registered in Japan in 2018, and various products containing fenquinotrione have been launched. With its high efficacy and excellent rice selectivity, we believe that fenquinotrione will contribute to efficient food production in the future.

The purpose of this paper is to suggest a new approach to explicate the relation between interaction and its setting, especially for classroom studies. First, we introduce H. Mehan's studies about classroom organization as a typical argument and a comprehensive policy about approach for ‘institutional settings’. Second, we outline how J. Heap sees the perspective of Mehan's studies as a defective one, and show that the arguments have a point in common with S. Hester & D. Francis' criticism of the comprehensive policy. Third, we show how Heap develops the perspective of Mehan, and suggest the development as a ‘new approach’ that overcomes these defects. Then, we can recognize the significance of the ‘new approach’ for explicating classroom.
