A new mineral with the following formula is described: (K1.788Na0.148 Rb0.141)(Li2.536Mn2+0.985Fe2+0.183Fe3+0.061Al1.958Ti0.012) (Si6.646 Al1.354)·O19.634 (F3.159 (OH)1.202)=(K, Na, Rb)2.077(Li, Mn, Fe2+, Fe3+, Al, Ti)5.735(Si, Al)8.000·O19.639 (F, OH)4.361 as OH+O+F=24. It corresponds to manganese analogue of zinnwaldite and is expressed by a K2(Mn2+2−1Li2−3Al2) (Al2−1Si6−7O20) (F2−3 (OH)1−2). The name masutomilite is proposed for the material with Mn2+> Fe2+ in honor of Dr. Kazunosuke Masutomi for his contribution to minerals of Japan.X-ray powder diffraction and optical data indicate the mineral to be monoclinic, space group Cm or C2⁄m with a 5.253(8)Å, b 9.085(4)Å, c 10.108(8)Å, β 100.15(0.03)°, V 474.84(0.56)Å3 and Z=1. The precession method verified the space group. The strongest lines in the X-ray powder pattern are 10.10(72)(001), 3.64(43)(-112), 3.32(100)(003), 3.09(58)(112), 2.903(35)(-113, 031), 2.589(17)(200, -131), 1.989(46)(005), 1.653(23)(204, -135). It is pale purplish pink. Transparent. Cleavage {001} perfect. Hardness (Mohs) 2.5. Sp. Gr. (meas.) 2.94 and 2.96 (calc). Optically biaxial negative with α 1.534, β 1.569, γ 1.570, (−)2V 29°–31°, r>v very weak, X, Z colorless to pale purple, Y purple, absorption X<Z<Y. Optical orientation b=Y, X nearly perpendicular to (001), a∧Z 3°.The mineral occupies core part of a zoned single mica crystal up to 10 cm across and 1 cm thick found in a druse of granite pegmatite at Tanakamiyama, Otsu, Shiga Prefecture, Japan. The outer part of the crystal is a brown manganoan zinnwaldite. The associated minerals are topaz, schorl, albite and quartz.For comparison of a high manganese zinnwaldite with masutomilite, a mica from Tawara, Naégi district, Hirukawa-mura, Gifu Prefecture, Japan is also described.A complete solid solubility does exist for the masutomilite–lepidolite–zinnwaldite series. The relationship between chemical composition, unit-cell dimensions a or b, and optical properties for the masutomilite–lepidolite series is figured out.

Most of us would agree that intrinsic motivation is one of the most important concepts in educational practice. Unfortunately, however, as some researchers have suggested, the concept of intrinsic motivation is so ambiguous that it is very difficult to distinguish it from similar motivational concepts such as the Origin-Pawn and Locus of Control conceptualizations. The purpose of this paper is to make the concept clear by considering trends in conceptualizations of and studies on intrinsic motivation from historical point of view. It is found that the main issue of the studies shifted from "cognitive motivation" (what makes tasks interesting) to "undermining and enhancing effects" of interpersonal and evaluative variables. It is concluded that intrinsic motivation is defined as a motivational state in which learning is undertaken for its own sake and that the mastery orientation and autonomy are its essential components.

A. We made a questionnaire consisting of 5 questions and asked 304 students (mal ; 140, female : 164) to choose one color from about 13 colors (white, red, yellow green, blue, purple, pink, brown, orange, yellow-green, water color, gray, black). We calculated the percentage of each of the 13 colors for each question, and determined the no. 1 and no. 2 color, using Chi-square. (1) Walls and curtains of a dwelling house : white and brown. (2) Seasons : spring was pink ; summer, blue ; autumn, brown and orange ; winter, white and gray. (3) Words : happiness ; pink, unhappiness ; gray and black, eternity ; white, death ; gray and black, life ; red, sin ; gray and black, loneliness ; gray and black, home ; orange, dream ; pink, excitement ; red, fear ; black, love ; red and pink, future ; white, home sickness ; brown and orange, birth ; white, anxiety ; gray, despaire ; black and gray, anger ; red, hope ; yellow (female), dissatisfaction ; gray (male), remembrance ; water color (female). (4) Picture of faces 1. normal : face ; white. 2. laughing : face ; pink. 3. anger : face ; red, background ; red. 4. sorrow : clothing ; black, background : gray and black. (5) The most liked color varied, and the most disliked color was purple (female).B. Small-scale underground coal gasification (UCG) model tests with a linking hole were carried out using two types of specimens made of either block coal or crushed coal to clarify their characteristics of combustion and gasification. Many similar characteristics were found between both specimens in terms of temperature change and its spatial distribution as well as concentration and heating value of each gas product as long as the crushed coal specimen was sufficiently consolidated. The shape and dimension of the cavity formed in the both specimens were also similar. Texture of the both specimens was changed after the combustion and gasification. Initiation of radial cracks from the linking hole was found in the both specimens. Within the zone with the radial cracks initiation, grains in the crushed coal were bonded whereas cleats in the block coal were healed. The grain bonding and the cleavage healing can be explained by melting and expansion of coal due to temperature increase. The radial cracks are likely initiated after the grain bonding or the cleavage healing due to tensile thermal stress induced by temperature gradient in the coal specimens. It can be concluded that the characteristics of combustion and gasification of the crushed coal and the block coal are similar because both types of coals become similar in texture through combustion and gasification. These results indicate that characteristics of combustion and gasification of coal seam can be mostly estimated from a model test with artificial coal seam made of crushed coal.

Underground coal gasification (UCG), a technique used to recover coal energy by the in-situ conversion of coal into gaseous products, enables recovery of coal energy from the potential coal resources abandoned under the ground for either technical or economic reasons. However, it might be difficult to adopt conventional UCG systems in Japan because of geological conditions that are complicated by the existence of faults and folds. Additionally, it is difficult to control the combustion/gasification area during UCG process because the process is invisible. Therefore, a co-axial UCG system that is compact, safe, and flexible to adopt is suggested with monitoring system by means of acoustic emission as an alternative UCG system. This UCG system has superiority in terms of applicability compared to the conventional one, but the recovered energy from the coal is relatively low because the gasification area in a co-axial system is limited around a well. In order to develop co-axial UCG system with high efficiency, the model UCG experiment with a large-scale simulated coal seam were conducted. It has been shown that 1) the gasification period can be extended by adopting proper oxygen inflow, 2) it is possible to control the combustion/gasification area and the product gas quality by controlling the position of oxygen inflow, 3) acoustic emission monitoring is an effective technique to evaluate the combustion/gasification area.

脳の報酬系を担う領野は,原始的な報酬である食べ物と同様に,「ほめられる」といった刺激によっても活動する事が知られており,社会的刺激が報酬として知覚されることが示唆された.また,報酬系の活動は同じ刺激でも異なる活動を示す場合がある.この事は,報酬系の活動は,報酬の与えられる条件や文脈など比較的短い期間で変化する環境にも,適応的に変化することを示唆する.本研究では,ムカデゲーム(Centipede<br> game,「囚人のジレンマ」の動的版)と呼ばれる2人で行うゲームを,実験参加者に行ってもらい,その時の脳活動をfMRI計測した.被験者は,ゲームの中で,相手の行動から協調性を推定した上で,自身の行動を適切に変更することが求められる.このfMRI脳活動を分析することによって,他者の協調性(もしくは非協調性)に関わる領野,報酬系の領野を明らかにし,協調性という社会的条件により報酬系が変調する事を調べた.

The flow characteristics of a vertical axis wind turbine with the hybrid blade which has the wing section with cutout trailing edge for purpose to make advantages of the drag type and the lift type wind turbine have been investigated by measuring the velocity vector fields using the conditional sampling PIV. The experimental apparatus is constructed using the PIV measurement system with the conditional sampling device and a new hybrid vertical axis wind turbine model installed in a circulating water channel. Four experimental conditions as the tip velocity ratio 0.5, 1.0 1.5 and 2.0 are investigated. The flows around the turbine which influence the efficiency of the vertical axis wind turbine are defined by the measured velocity vector fields. Moreover, the alternations of the angle of attack and the relative flow speed ratio of the rotating blades in the measured velocity vector fields are calculated by analyzing the mean velocity vectors along the circumference of rotating blades. The influences of the flow over the torque generated on the blades are clarified as follows. The drag torque increases, and the advantage of the hybrid blade is effective under the conditions of the tip velocity ratio 0.5 to 1.0. And the lift torque decreases under the conditions of the tip velocity ratio 0.5, and the lift torque increases under the conditions of the tip velocity ratio 1.0.
