Iron deficiency is the most common cause of anemia. Zinc, copper, manganese, molybdenum, and cobalt are also related to anemia. The body of an adult man stores approximately 4500 mg of iron. About 60% of this iron is in the form of hemoglobin, 20% is in the storage form of iron, 7% to 8% is contained in myoglobin in the muscle, and 12% to 13% is stored in iron-containing enzymes. The average amount of iron lost daily has been estimated to be approximately 1.0 mg in normal individuals. These losses are balanced by ingesting an equivalent amount of iron from the diet. Because of increasing iron needs of infants and adolescents during growth, and blood loss during menstruation in females, these patient groups may suffer from lack of iron, especially if they ingest inadequate amounts of iron from their meals. Pica is one of the symptomes of iron deficiency anemia. Pacophagia is one of clinical manifestation of pica which is characterized by eating ice. Measuring serum zinc before and after iron treatment in patients with iron deficiency anemia, we observed decrease of zinc concentration in patients with pica whereas normal zinc concentration in patients without pica. However there was no significance between two groups. Zinc deficiency leads to pathological signs related to impaired function of plasma membrane proteins such as erythrocyte plasma membrane. This impaired function causes hemolytic anemia. On the contrary, the excess of zinc also leads to anemia because suppression of iron absorption occur. Hypochromic microcytic anemia has been observed in copper deficiency. Since the activity of cytochrome oxidase, which contains copper, decrease in this condition, iron will not be mounted in heme followed by anemia because of failure of iron reduction. Ceruloplasmin, which also have copper, make iron to combine with transferrin by converting ferrous iron to ferric iron through oxidative process. Therefore, lack of ceruloplasmin cause anemia similar to that in iron deficiency.

A single specimen (130.0 mm standard length: SL) of Platyberyx mauli Kukuev, Parin and Trunov, 2012, collected at 452–453 m depth off Shizugawa Bay, Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, is the first record of the species from the Pacific Ocean. Previously reported only from the eastern central Atlantic, P. mauli is characterized by the following combination of characters: dorsal-fin rays 28 (28 in present specimen); anal-fin rays 17 (17); pectoral-fin rays 17 or 18 (18); total vertebrae number 33 or 34 (34); head length 30.4–33.9% SL (30.5% SL); body depth 45.6–52.2% SL (46.3% SL); prepectoral length 34.2–35.3% SL (34.2% SL); dorsal-fin base length 75.4–79.1% SL (76.1% SL); ventral caudal spur absent; procurrent rays cylindrical; gill rakers stout, rounded, with many small bristles, especially near tip and midway along each raker; jaw teeth in multiple rows anteriorly; posterior margin of upper jaw extending nearly to posterior margin of orbit; dorsal pharyngeal papillae multifid; conspicuous multifid papillae throughout inside of mouth cavity. The new standard Japanese name “Shamoji-yaegisu” is proposed for the species. Additionally, a single specimen (176.9 mm SL) of Platyberyx andriashevi (Kukuev, Parin and Trunov, 2012), collected off the Pacific coast of Hokkaido, represents the first record of the species from that region. A key to the six species of Caristiidae currently known from Japan is provided.

本研究では、文章中の登場人物の情緒状態の原因を推論する行動について高次条件性弁別の枠組みから分析を行った。そして、中度精神遅滞を持っ発達障害児2名を対象に、文章課題において登場人物が表出している情緒状態に対して、その原因について適切な感情表出語を用いて応答する行動を形成した。そのために、課題文に対して感情表出語カードを選択する条件性弁別訓練が行われ、さらに文中の感情を引き起こした出来事と感情表出語を組み合わせて応答するための条件性弁別訓練が行われた。その結果、課題文の登場人物の情緒状態にっいて、原因となる出来事と感情表出語を組み合わせて応答することが可能となり、未訓練の課題文に対しても適切な応答が可能となった。これらの結果から、発達障害児に対する文章理解の指導において条件性弁別訓練の有効性が示され、さらに文章理解を促進するために文中の文脈刺激への反応を強化することの重要性が示唆された。

日本各地の河川堤防や河川敷において,アブラナ属(Brassica)の植物が定着して優占し,春季に一斉に開花する群落が見られている。また近年,穀物輸入港の周辺の路傍で“外来ナタネ”の定着・自生が確認されている。日本では以前からアブラナ属の自生種に対する誤同定が多い状況が続いており,分布や生態に関する実態の正確な理解を妨げている。日本におけるアブラナ属,とくにアブラナとセイヨウアブラナ,カラシナの3種について概説し,その形態的・生態的な特徴を示した。さらに,2000年以降に出版された主要な帰化植物等の図鑑と,図や解説のある主要な地方植物誌におけるアブラナ属の掲載状況を検討した。主要な専門書(図鑑等)において,栽培種と認識されているアブラナが掲載されていない,あるいは誤りを含む記述がされており,それがアブラナをセイヨウアブラナとして誤同定され続けている主因と思われる。今後,アブラナ類の調査について,正確な種同定に基づいて再検討した上で,影響の再評価がなされるべきである。

トルコ共和国のイスタンブールは、急速な近代化と工業化により都市が膨れ上がり、建築の構造上も大きな問題を抱えているが、また、この大都市は、地震活動が活発な小アジア半島に位置している。トルコでは,近代的な鉄筋コンクリート建物のほとんどは、耐震壁はなく、外壁や間仕切り壁は、中空煉瓦積みのモルタル仕上げである。我々は、建物の動的な特性を知る目的で,イスタンブール市内で工事中のフレームのみを含み10棟以上のRC建物について常時微動測定を行った。また、最近の地震により被害を受けたディナールとアダナ地域でも同様の測定を行った。また、これらの建物のいくつかについては、建物の強度や靭性を知るために耐震診断法による検討を行った。さらに、1995年のディナール地震と1998年のアダナ・ジェイハン地震の被災地の建物調査も行った。この研究の結果、以下の知見が得られた。1) トルコの建物の剛性は、中空煉瓦+モルタル仕上げのものと、その前のフレームのみの場合では、大幅に値が異なる。2) 地震により被害を受けた建物の固有周期は,無被害のそれと比較して非常に長い。3) 一般にRC建物の靭性は、日本のそれに比較して非常に乏しい。4) 一般的にコンクリートの強度は非常に低い。5) 補強筋配筋技術は、その技術的な意味を知らないため、レベルが低い。6) 中空煉瓦壁は非常にもろく、軸力は支えられず、柱の破壊に対して、何の冗長度もない。今後予期される大地震に対して、我々は速やかに、設計方法、建設技術、強度、靭性などを改善するべきと強く感じている。

Although being loved by someone we love is generally acknowledged as having special value, what that value is and from whence it derives remain unclear. As described herein, the author suggests two constituents of the special value of mutual love: the very nature of love, i.e., becoming happy by the happiness of one’s beloved; and a mutual recognition between lovers of this becoming happy by the happiness of one another.After posing the question of the value of mutual love, the love–emotion relation is examined and defined in terms of relevant emotions. From this definition, the author examines a Union View of Love, inferring that this view clarifies neither the specificity nor origin of the value of mutual love. Finally, the author proposes the Echo View, explaining mutual love’s value by the nature of love and by lovers’ mutual recognition of their happiness, with some additional remarks about relevant issues.
