学生が大学入学前にどのような野生動物関連の知識と体験を有しているか,東京農大生を対象に2002年と2012年にアンケート調査した。野外で見たことのある動物は2002年には鳥類>哺乳類>魚類>爬虫類>両生類の順であったが,2012年には爬虫類,両生類,魚類が大きく減少した。後者は水辺などに行かねば見られない動物であることから,この10年間に若年層の自然に触れる機会が減少していると思われた。野生動物に関する知識や意識における10年間の変化は少なかった。野生動物の目撃場所では,自宅周辺や里山が多く,旅行中の目撃頻度は減少傾向にあった。学生がイメージできる野生動物関連職業の数は少なく,動物園や研究職など一部職種に集中していた。好きな日本産動物の上位は陸生の中・大型哺乳類で占められ,食虫目や翼手目への関心は極めて低かった。好きな世界の動物では動物園で見ることのできるライオン,パンダ,ゾウ,コアラ,トラなどの大型獣が上位であった。野生動物に関する情報源としては特定のテレビ番組が大きな役割を果たしており,本では動物図鑑がよく利用されていた。動物系学科で学ぶ学生(東京農業大学)と非動物系の学生(国際基督教大学)を比較すると,野生動物教育の経験を除いて,アンケート結果は類似しており,入学前における野生動物経験の多寡は大学選択に影響していなかった。動物系の異なる研究室(野生動物学と動物介在療法)に所属する学生の野生動物経験を比較したところ,回答傾向は概ね類似したが,後者では鳥類や獣害に対する関心が若干低かった。

This article reports the deep learning based technology of computer Go recently developed by Google. Alpha Go, the computer Go program based on this technology, is the first one that beat a human professional Go player with no handicap, and is going to play matches against one of the top professional players on March. We survey the technology, and give some comments on the matches.

仏教では、女性は不浄な穢れた生き物と考えられてきた。そして、僧は女性と交接を行うことを「女犯」として戒律で禁じられ、そのため「女犯」の罪を避けるため、僧は男性、とりわけ稚児を交接の対象としてきたといわれている。

被験者に発音タイミングの異なる2つの音を提示し、どちらの音が早く発音されたかを回答させることで、どれくらいの音の遅延を認識できるのかを調査した。その結果得られた最も弁別し易い音(スネアドラムとピアノ)を用いて、楽曲中に遅延を発生させ、演奏にどのような影響をもたらすのかを分析した所、30ms以上の遅延だと認知され、50ms以上の遅延だと演奏が困難になることが分かった。また、遅延時間の提示方法により弁別能力が変化することが分かった。これらの結果を元に、遅延のある演奏系でのリアルタイムセッションの可能性について検討した。

Previous studies have reported that a relationship between attractiveness and athletic achievement exists such as in cycling and American football. The goal of this study was to examine the association between at-tractiveness, facial width-to-height ratio (FWHR) and athletic achievement in collegiate track and field ath-letes. Ninety-three athletes (42 males and 51 females, aged 19.8±1.2 years) participated in the present study. All athletes were divided into higher-level athletes and lower-level athletes according to their athletic achievement. Two-hundred and forty-one evaluators (124 males and 117 females, aged 20.81±1.5 years) as-sessed the attractiveness of the athletes. Attractiveness was evaluated using the visual analog scale (VAS) by evaluators who met the athletes for the first time and were of the opposite sex. We measured the FWHR, facial width ratio, area between the left and right cheekbones, and height between the upper lip and under the eye-brows using ImageJ. This study reveal that elite sprinters were more attractive than the lower-level athletes (p=0.053). Conversely, elite endurance athletes were less attractive (p=0.039) (FWHR, p=0.047) than the lower-level athletes. In summary, our results suggested that higher-level sprinters tend to be more attractive in comparison to higher-level endurance athletes who showed a lower FWHR and were found to be less attrac-tive.

This paper focuses on the online comic "No Matter How I Look at It, It's You Guys' Fault I'm Not Popular!", analyzing the mind and behavior of the heroine Tomoko Kuroki, a high-school girl, especially in Book 8-9, "School Excursion" part, in which she could form friendship with others. The discussion develops to the realization of Hiruko(Leech-child)'s return, the largest issue of Japanese mythodology argued by Hayao Kawai as his lifework, and tries to make an exciting or even a little bit strange hypothesis.
