This paper discusses spot allocation in the national high school rugby tournament based on a quantitative strength evaluation method. In the national high school rugby tournament in Japan, each prefecture receives one spot except Hokkaido, which has two spots; Tokyo, which also has two; and Osaka, which has three. In this paper, Kanagawa and Fukuoka prefectures, whose representative teams achieved outstanding results in recent nationwide tournaments, are considered good candidates for extra spots in the tournament. This paper proposes an Elo-based quantitative skill evaluation method using about 1,800 match results. The evaluation results show high accuracy (84%) in match result prediction. In addition, the gaps between the winners and the finalists in Kanagawa and Fukuoka prefectures can be estimated. According to the results, the second team in Kanagawa ranked in the top 10 in the nationwide tournament; therefore, Kanagawa should receive an extra spot in it.

ミクロネシア連邦は西太平洋のカロリン諸島とも呼ばれる島々からなる地域で、地理的には、西から東へヤップ、チューク、ポンペイおよびコスラエの四つの州にわかれており、後者の三つの島は火山性の島々である。先行研究では、カロリン諸島の火山島は太平洋プレートが未知のホットスポット上を通過し、西から東へ火山島の年齢が若くなるとされる。しかし、先に述べた三つの島での火山活動の時期は重なっており、チューク環礁の島々とポンペイ島には同年代の火山岩が存在する。また、コスラエ島にもポンペイ島と同年代の火山岩があり、それらの火山島は(数百キロもお互いに離れている島々)、ホットスポット上にプレートが通過した時に形成されたとは考えにくい。本研究の目的はミクロネシア連邦の火山島の地質調査を含む、岩石試料の岩石学、地球科学および年代学的な研究を行い、火山島の成因を明らかにする。

Recently, proceeding of the aging society has encouraged research and development of power assist systems. The authors' research group studies on the assist system control using an assist cart as a rollator. The merit of the proposed system is the aging people walk by themselves using the cart as the assisting tool and it helps anti-aging. Most serious problems of the proposed system are the avoidance of fallings and collisions without losing operability. To solve the problem, this paper proposes the remote control system taking operators' safety and operability into account. The remote control has a possibility of the establishment of the cost-effective multiple target control systems by reducing the requirement for each control target system. However, because of the limitation of communication data capabilities, the controller cannot grasp the state of the controlled object completely. To grasp the state and keep the safety, the authors apply an evaluator in the remote control system. It detects the effect of the uncertainty and keeps the controlled object safe. In addition, as an interface for the users to avoid the collisions, this paper applies the stiffness control. Introducing the virtual spring into the control system, the proposed system prevents the controlled object to collide the obstacle, without losing operability. Based on an application example for the one-dimensional assist rollator collision avoidance, this paper reveals the practicality of the proposed system by conducting experiments and the simulations. The result shows the proposed way is one of the effective ways for applying a remote control system to the assist system problem.

本稿では,鹿児島県北薩方言のセンという文末詞について,当該方言話者への面接調査を通して記述を行った。文末詞センは,コピュラ/zyar/の否定疑問形式である「〜ジャラセン」を出自としており,ジャラセンはジャーセン,ジャッセン,ジャセンと変化し,「コピュラ(ジャー/ジャッ/ジャ)+セン」という分析によってセンが析出され,他の用言にも接続できるようになった(文末詞化した)と考えられる。また,否定の用法はもたず,全年齢層に共通してみられる基本的な用法は同意要求であるが,若年層では確認要求としても用いられるようになるという用法面の変化も起こっている。これは,「聞き手の判断をたずねるという意味をもつ形式をわざわざ判断を下す必要のない環境に適用することによって,話し手の発話を追認させる,という効果を生み出す」というプロセスで,同意要求の用法が拡張したものである。
