In this paper I examine Hume's theory of meaning and abstraction. Although his doctrine of abstraction relies on his theory of meaning, his own conception of meaning is not necessarily the so-called “idea theory of meaning”, which supports the possibility of private language. On the contrary, he tries to defend a sort of use theory of meaning: the meaning of abstract terms must consist in our custom or disposition to use them in society and conversation. This idea is derived from his concept of ability, which depends on his conception of the resemblance and the uniformity of nature. The aim of this paper is to show that we can interpret Hume's view of meaning as a use theory of meaning. To begin with, I criticize the traditional interpretation of Hume's theory of abstraction, which faces a substantial difficulty concerning the possibility of communication. Then, I clarify that he proposes in his Treatise the following two doctrines of abstraction: (1) two sorts of resemblance and (2) the principle of the uniformity of nature. These enable us to understand language by appealing to the ability to generalize the use of our abstract terms. Finally, I show that his theory of meaning does not only offer us a criterion for the correct use of abstract terms, but also a defensible foundation of communication.

ITの発達により大量のデータを容易に収集できるようになった。たとえば,バーコードのスキャン技術によって,商品の売り上げは,バラエティー,色,フレーバーなども区別した品番単位(これはSKU,stock keeping unitと呼ばれる)で,日別,店舗別に蓄積される。Eコマースでは,消費者の購買履歴が世帯別にレシート単位で自動的に記録されており,通常のデータベースでも何百万,何千万ものレコードが含まれている。しかし,これだけ大量になると,生データのままでは処理の収拾がつかない。そこで第 1 のステップは,まずデータをある程度,集計し,その上で記述統計(平均や分散)を分析したり因果関係をモデル分析したりすることであろう。たとえば個々の顧客の購買や各店舗での販売を集計して,「売上」という指標を作って,それを分析する。しかし,このような集計データの分析はいくつかの難しさを抱えている。本稿の目的はそれを研究者や実務家に知ってもらうことである。

In this paper, we report the development of a design knowledge management system, called DDMS (Design Documentation Management System). By composing design documents during design, DDMS encourages a designer to externalize his/her knowledge and facilitates sharing and reuse of such externalized design knowledge in later stages. DDMS works as a front end to KIEF (Knowledge Intensive Engineering Framework), which we have been developing over years. DDMS is capable of guiding designers with design process knowledge based on a model of synthesis, combined together with KIEF that can integrate multiple design object models, and maintain consistency among these models. DDMS automatically generates design documents after analyzing design log data based on the model of synthesis. We also illustrate an example of laser lithography design to demonstrate the features of DDMS.

日本三大朝市の一つの呼子朝市のある佐賀県呼子町に新商業施設を設ける場合を事例にして,修正ハフモデルを活用して商圏規模を測定した。その商圏測定プロセスと結果を通じての小売マネジメントからの有効性の検汁を行った結果,取扱品目によっていくつかの商圏規模が測定され,商圏規模の数値の取扱いに経営判断が要求されることが明らかになった。

[目的]通所介護事業所における生活相談員の業務と困難度を明確にする。[研究方法]通所介護事業所の生活相談員を対象に自記式質問紙による郵送調査を実施した。回答のあった341 票の内、欠損値のない174 票を対象とした。[結果] 「送迎」、「介護業務との兼務」、「記録」「介護支援専門員との連携」「利用者への相談援助」の順に業務割合が高かった。困難度の高い業務は「苦情解決」、「会計経理」、「地域連携」、「事業計画管理」「研修企画」であった。「介護業務との兼務」は男性より女性の方が、また介護経験のある者の方が有意に高く従事していた。「介護支援専門員との連携」「苦情解決」は福祉系大学の卒業者が有意に高く困難感を感じていた。年齢が高い程「苦情解決」「事業計画管理」「会計経理」の困難度は有意に低かった。[結論]生活相談員の本来の業務である「連絡調整・相談業務」よりもその他の業務の頻度が高いことが明らかになった。 [Purpose]We aimed to study content of the workload and the various difficulty encountered by social workers at day service centres.[Methods]We surveyed 174 social workers using a self-administered questionnaire that addressed various items including the content of the operations and the degree of difficulty of social workers.[Results]In terms of the ratio of the duties, from highest to the lowest, the order is as follows: pick-ups, additional post with care, recording, cooperation with the care manager, and consultation and assistance. In terms of the degree of the various difficulties, the order form the highest to the lowest is as follows: processing of complaints, accounting, regional liaison, business plan management, and creation of a training plan. A lot of women engage in the additional post with care than a man. The person with the care experience engages a lot in comparison with a few people. A welfare university graduate compared the 'processing of complaints' with 'cooperation with the care manager' but found it difficult to come up with a conclusion. 'Cooperation with the care manager,' 'business plan management,' and 'accounting' were not difficulty for old social workers.[Conclusion]The present study showed the more other work than the consultation that was the original work of the social workers.

原子力発電所事故広域避難者に対して、大規模アンケート調査、半構造化インタビュー調査、人類学的フィールド調査を行なった。その結果、避難者には極めて高い心的外傷後ストレス障害(PTSD)の可能性が見いだされ、その精神的被害には、原発事故によってもたらされた経済的問題、住宅問題、賠償格差の問題、家族やコミュニティ分断の問題、などの社会経済的問題が関与していることを統計学的に明らかにした。避難者のメンタルヘルスの問題は決して個人的なものではなく、社会のいわば「構造的暴力」が避難者の生活や人生を傷つけていると考えられた。避難者の自殺予防には、様々な社会経済的問題の解決といった「社会的ケア」が必要である。

目的:病院看護職による退院後の暮らしを見据えた看護活動の自己評価の結果をもとに,在宅ケアの視点をもつ病院看護職育成のための課題を明確化すること.方法:9病院,13名の看護師を対象にしたグループインタビューを行い,質的帰納的に分析した.結果・考察:退院後の暮らしを見据えた看護活動の現状として,6カテゴリ:《他職種にまかせきりにしている》,《院内連携ができていない》,《訪問看護師との連携には格差がある》,《社会資源の知識がなく活用ができていない》,《勉強会参加,経験年数,興味関心により在宅ケアの視点をもつことができる》,《在宅ケアの知識があっても実践力がない》が抽出された.社会資源に関する知識不足や多職種連携ができてないことから,実践に結び付いていないことが考えられた.結論:退院後の暮らしを見据えた看護職育成の課題として,社会資源に関する実践的な知識不足を補うこと,かつ他分野他部署を超えた看護経験の積み重ねができるような勤務体制・施設間交流の工夫を行うなど,会得した知識を実践へと結び付けるための個人の資質向上と組織的な教育的取り組みが必要であることが示唆された.

1960年代当時のポルトガルでは、ほとんどの都市や街で急速な都市開発による"アーバン・エクスプロージョン"(都市膨張)がぼっ発し、それによってできた無節操な建物が都市を覆った。「アルマダ市立劇場『ブルー・シアター』」の敷地周辺地区も、このような都市現象の余波を被ったところである。
