ゲラニルゲラノイン酸(GGA)はレチノイドの一種で、ウコンなどに含まれる栄養素である。我々は以前、マウス繁殖時の餌にGGAを添加すると交配数あたりの離乳仔数(生産指数)が増加することを見出し、特許を取得している。また、その際、GGA食で生まれ授乳された1週齢の仔マウス脳海馬歯状回において脳由来神経栄養因子(BDNF)発現量が顕著に増加することなどを見出したが、これらが哺乳動物の普遍的な作用であるのかなどは不明なままである。そこで本研究ではGGAによる生産指数の増加が他の系統のマウスにおいても再現できるか検討することとした。その結果、以前の観察と同様にGGA投与により生産指数の増加が確認された。しかし、今回はGGAにより受胎や分娩の効率が増加したというよりは、母親マウスの食殺行動の抑制が生産指数の増加に至る可能性が示唆された。

The characteristics of wind pressures and forces on cylindrical storage tanks, such as oil-storage tanks, have been investigated based on a series of wind tunnel experiments. Focus is on open-topped tanks. In the experiments, the wind pressures were measured simultaneously at many points both on the external and internal surfaces of rigid models with aspect ratios of 0.25 to 1.0 in a turbulent boundary layer. The time-space correlation of pressures was discussed based on the results of correlation coefficients, power spectra and so on. A POD analysis was also employed to investigate the structure of pressure field on the surfaces. Furthermore, a conditional sampling of pressures was made for investigating the pressure distribution at an instant when the external wind pressure at a reference point, roughly corresponding to the windward stagnation point, became the maximum peak value. A discussion is made of the wind force coefficients for designing open-topped tanks.

To study the biogeography on the Japanese insular helminth fauna of Apodemus speciosus (Muridae, Rodentia), thoses from the Izu Islands in Japan were investigated in the present survey. A total 525 individuals of the large Japanese field mice were collected between March, 1984 and June, 1998. From the field mice collected on five islands in the of Izu Island Chain, including Ohshima Island (abbreviated to o), Nii-jima Island (n), Shikine jima Island (s), Kozu-shima Island (k) and Miyake-jima Island (m), 10 parasitic nematode species, namely, Heligmonoides speciosus [o, n, s, k, m; showing the abbreviations of the localities], Rhabditis strongyloides [o, k], Syphacia frederici [o, n, k, m], Heterakis spumosa [o, n, s, k], Subulura suzuldi [k], Rictularia cristata [s, k, m], Physaloptera sp. [o, k, m], Mastophorus muris [n, k], Eucoleus sp. [k], and Trichunis sp. [s], were detected through the present examination. This is the first report of the parasitic nematodes obtained from A. speciosus in the Izu Islands. The nematodes obtained except for Physalopera sp. have been reported already from A. speciosus occurring on the main islands and several offshore islands of Japan. The distribution pattern of homogenic development nematode genera, Heligmonoides and Heligmosomoides, was "Heligmonoides speciosus present, Helib nosomoides kurilensis absent"-type.

What was the change for Chinese officials in south China from the downfall of Song _??_ dynasty to the establishment of Yuan dynasty? Although we know the names of loyalists to former Song dynasty, due consideration should be also given to the appointment of the Chinese to the local offices under the conquest dynasty. Some Chinese literati _??__??_ including the successful candidates for the imperial examination _??__??_ in Song period, remained to be the officials under the Mongolian rule. Some wealthy powerful locals _??__??_ began to annex political, financial and social power in their native places. Therefore, many upstarts appeared in South China.<BR>Worrying about the influence of the former dynasty, Yuan government took precautions against the local governers. However in many cases, the government could not obtain satisfactory results. Problems of the appointment had grown hard to solve easily. First was the redundancy of the local officials. In Shi-zu's _??__??_ reign, Ahmad _??__??__??_ wielded power in the government and appointed merchants and unqualified people as officials. Second was the wealthy powerful locals. They often engaged themselves in illegal activities especially concerning the landownership and payment of tax and corvé taking advantage of being appointed as officials. Third was the succession of the position by their descendants. To solve the problems stated above, Yuan government had to reexamine the appointment system.<BR>In the early and middle Da-de _??__??_, era in Cheng-zong's _??__??_ reign, high-ranking officials in South China such as Zhu Qing _??__??_, Zhang Xuan _??__??_ and Hu Yi-sun _??__??__??_ lost their position and were accused to death. In 1301 (Da-de 7), two Special Pacification Commissioners _??__??__??__??_ were representatively dispatched to each six areas in China proper in order to watch local administration. They arrested a great number of officials amount to 18, 473 for bribery, and cleared many people from the false charge. An act was decided to issue in the same year, though it is now not sure whether the act was actually put in force. Officials in the Provincial Secretariat _??__??_ were ordered to move to another province because they often did evil by means of the territorial relationship. It was just the same time when the following generation reached to the age to get position in the office.<BR>In 1315 (Yan-you _??__??_ 2), the government conducted the first imperial examination, which was naturally welcomed by the Chinese Confucian scholars. It was carried out not only for meeting the earnest desire of Confucian scholars but for solving the problem of supply and demand of the local governers. The central government wanted to evade taking wealthy powerful locals, and assign the tallented governers including the Chinese, Mongolians and central Asians.<BR>Finally the author emphasize the various efforts for the appointment system in Yuan period contributed to establish the bureaucracy in Ming _??_ dynasty.

Densification of high-purity zinc sulfide was studied by the normal sintering at 800°-1200°C for 2h and hot-pressing at 700°-1100°C under the pressure of 10-40 MPa for 1 to 4h. Zinc sulfide densified slightly in normal sintering and marked grain growth accompanied by a slight increase in density was found above 1000°C. High density was achieved by the hot-pressing between 800° and 1000°C and under the pressure of 40MPa. The grain size was approximately 1μm, and no significant grain growth was observed below 900°C. Above 1000°C, the grain growth became increasingly significant with increasing temperature. At 1100°C, high density was not attained; phase transformation and abnormal grain growth were responsible.

Trichothecium roseum causes pink mold rot of muskmelons and tomatoes cultivated in greenhouses, and also produces trichothecin, a 12, 13-epoxytrichothecene. To clarify the pathogenicity and trichothecin production of T. roseum, mycological examination was carried out in 8 greenhouses in Chiba Prefecture. The contamination of muskmelon and tomato fruits with trichothecin was also examined. Trichothecium roseum was isolated from almost all of the moldy or discolored muskmelon and tomato fruits, as well as tomato stem dumped near the greenhouse. The fungus was found in the air of a greenhouse in which many moldy tomato fruits were present, but in none of the soil samples from the greenhouses tested. In an inoculation test, T. roseum isolated from muskmelon and tomato invaded and decayed the flesh of matured muskmelons. Moreover, almost all the isolates of T. roseum tested produced trichothecin on Czapek-Dox broth supplemented with 0.2% corn steep liquor cultured for 21 days at 25°C. Trichothecin was detected in moldy muskmelon and tomato fruits collected in the greenhouses.

本研究は,2011年度に小学校英語活動経験がある小学校6年生に対して,英語習熟度テストと英語活動に関する情意アンケートを実施した結果のまとめである。同時に実施した小学校教員に対してのアンケートも参考にしながら,小学生が英語活動をどのように受け止め,どのような「学び」があったのか,教える側の教員の意見も参考にしつつ明らかにしようとする,総合的なアプローチの開始部分である。協力を得た各小学校に於いて開始学年や総履修時間数が異なるため,総履修時間数別に4群に分けた。それらのグループ間比較で,時間数が一番少ないグループに比べて,一番多いグループは,習熟テストのスコアも高く,情意アンケートにおいても肯定的な回答が多かった。
