Large-volume 3DCG models used in environmental design are difficult to handle on mobile devices because they consume much computational resource and storage. In this study, a server-side rendering method is proposed to realize a mobile web-based augmented reality (Web AR) system for environmental design visualization by handling the rendering result of 3-dimensional models as video streaming. Through the experiments with a developed prototype system, the proposed method achieved a higher frame rate than conventional stand-alone Web AR for a large number of polygons. Both the frame rate and the latency were almost constant regardless of the number of polygons.

本研究は,小児専門病院の緩和ケアチームが院内コンサルテーションを開始する前後で院内スタッフの緩和ケアに対する困難感の変化を明らかにすることを目的に行った.5領域21項目で構成される困難感に関する自記式質問紙を用い,2015年に開始前,3年後に開始後調査を実施した.開始前は222名(回収率70.9%),開始後は384名(回収率87.3%)から回答を得た.回答者の7割以上が看護師・助産師であった.全職種では,“苦痛症状の緩和”,“看取りの際の家族ケア”,“自分自身や周囲のスタッフが感じる不全感や喪失感に対する支援”の3項目で困難感の有意な減少が認められた.介入した部署の看護師・助産師の困難感は6項目で有意な減少を認めた.緩和ケアチームが介入した16件中11件が疼痛コントロール難渋例の2名の患者への複数回の介入依頼であり,コンサルテーション活動が看護師・助産師の困難感の減少に寄与したと推察する.

海洋の酸性化は海洋生態系に大きな影響を与えるといわれており、近年盛んに研究されているテーマである。過去の大量絶滅事変は、海洋酸性化等の環境変動とそれが生態系に与えた影響を直接観察できる絶好の研究材料である。本研究では、特に良好に保存された化石試料を採取・分析することによって白亜紀末の大量絶滅事変における海洋酸性化を復元し、それが当時大繁栄していたアンモナイトの絶滅とどのように関連していたのか、について検証を行う。

表面化学の立場から潤滑油添加剤の反応を制御し、より適切な潤滑特性を得るために表面形状の影響を検討した。鋼試験片表面に適当な粗さを与えることにより、摩擦係数が徐々に低下し、安定で低い値を示すことを見出した。表面分析の結果、表面の突起部で金属新生面が生成し、ここで添加剤が反応するとともに潤滑性の境界膜を形成したことを明らかにした。

Task-Based Language Teaching using Computer-Mediated Communication is popular in improving learners’ communicative ability. There are many advantages of this approach including enhancing students’ autonomy, self-learning etc. (Lee & Ahn, 2016). However, there are limited studies in this field (Kitade, 2006; Stockwell, 2010), so more research needs to be conducted. This study investigated lexical diversity and syntactic complexity in TBLT using synchronous and asynchronous CMC. In the study, 18 advanced learners of English worked on decision-making tasks in small groups, using both modes of communication. Lexical diversity and syntactic complexity (the mean length of sentence, clause, and T-unit) were analyzed quantitatively. A T-test was used, and the findings indicated no significant difference regarding lexical diversity between the two modes. Conversely, statistically increases in syntactic complexity were found when considering all three variables in relation to the asynchronous CMC. These results suggest that different modes of CMC have the potential to develop different aspects of second language learning.

Six optically active (Z)-7-decen-4-olide derivatives (1a-1f) were synthesized in 99% enantiomeric excess using diastereomeric resolution. The odour properties of the racemic and optically active 1a-1f were evaluated in terms of their orthonasal aromas. All of the stereoisomers had different odour characteristics and thresholds. Decen-4-olides (1a-1c) had a strong fruity note, whereas undecen-4-olide (1d and 1e) and dodecen-4-olide (1f) had a strong green note. For 7-alken-4-olides (1a, 1d, and 1f), the (R)-enantiomer had a lower odour threshold than the (S)-enantiomer. In contrast, no difference in the odour threshold was observed for the enantiomers of the 8-alken-4-olides (1b and 1e). Furthermore, the antimicrobial activity against Escherichia coli (E. coli; ATCC 25922) and Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus; ATCC 29213) were investigated. Although the no differences in the antimicrobial activity of the stereoisomers was observed, 1d and 1e showed slight antimicrobial activity against E. coli, whereas only 1f showed antimicrobial activity against S. aureus. No antimicrobial activity was exhibited by (R)-1f, whereas (S)-1f exhibited strong antimicrobial activity.

Using anticancer drugs as an example, we examined the possibility of reusing residual drugs. The use of residual drugs is not widespread because of concerns regarding bacterial contamination. We mixed anticancer drugs with bacteria and investigated their effects on bacterial growth. The anticancer drugs carboplatin, paclitaxel, etoposide, irinotecan, methotrexate, and 5-fluorouracil (5-FU) were mixed with Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Serratia marcescens, and Escherichia coli. After a certain period, the number of bacteria was counted. Irinotecan showed no antibacterial activity, whereas 5-FU showed high antibacterial activity against the bacteria tested. The 5-FU also showed a minimum inhibitory concentration value in the range of 8–80 μg/mL, depending on the bacterial species. The 5-FU dose-dependently inhibited S. aureus growth at more than 0.8 µg/mL. Since protein synthesis systems are reportedly antibiotic targets, we used a cell-free protein synthesis system to confirm the mechanism of the anticancer agent’s antibacterial activity. The 5-FU and methotrexate had direct inhibitory effects on protein synthesis. It is suggested that even if the residual drugs are contaminated with bacteria, there will be no microbial growth or microbes will be killed by the drug. With careful monitoring, the 5-FU could potentially be used for antimicrobial purposes.

身体と自己の関係に関する研究は哲学的探求のみならず、神経疾患や精神疾患に伴う身体感覚変容の病理解明や療法応用のためにも発展が望まれる領域である。最近では身体的自己意識研究が加速しており、特に代替物を自身の身体だと感じさせる錯覚実験が主に行われている。しかし、従来の実験はその手続き上の制約により、錯覚の生起過程を検証できず、錯覚強度も弱いという問題がある。本研究ではこの問題に対するひとつの解決策を提案するために、宙吊りの視点だけに自己を感じる『身体不在』体験を生み出す新規実験系を開発し、身体不在のまま体験者が歩行することで生じる感覚を心理・生理・行動の側面から検証・分析する。

KN IV: 133,12f. reads santi tu himavati parvatarāje catasra oṣadhayaḥ “on the contrary, there are four herbs on the snowy mountain, the king of the mountains”. The meaning of the sentence is easy to understand. However, KN’s footnote states “A. W. add saṃvidyaṃte. Cb. adds vidyaṃte. O. asti.” The Gilgit manuscript and many Nepalese manuscripts read as santi (tu) … oṣadhayaḥ or santi tu … oṣadhayaḥ saṃvidyante, but C5’s asti tu … oṣadhayo vidyante and Kashgar’s asti tu … auṣadhyau vidyanti are almost identical, beyond the difference between Nepalese and Central Asian recensions. Which is the correct reading? If we refer to the usage of Pāli atthi nāma and BHS asti, the usage of asti tu seems to be the most likely. The form (°)vidyanti is commonly attested in the Kashgar manuscript (e.g. Kashg IV: 109b7 saṃvidya(ṃ)ti). In conclusion, I believe that the reading of the Kashgar ms. is the original one. If I were to re-edit the KN, I would adopt the C5 reading as compromise. This paper is one of a series of small attempts to collect material for a future re-edition of the Lotus Sutra.

Tokyo has a lot of shrines and these form complex and diverse Ujiko-iki areas at present. These territories were inherited from a situation of the faith in Edo period critically. In this paper, specialties of Ujiko in the city of Edo are understood deeply through analysis of enshrinement, reconstruction and relocation of shrines described in “Jisha Kakiage”. Firstly, the distribution of Ujiko is restored from “Jisha Kakiage” and then the following three points are pointed out. First issue is that there were some shrines to account samurai residences as Ujiko. Second issue is that there were some towns to belong to several shrines. Third issue is that there were some shrines to have Ujiko towns locating in separate places. In chapter 3, it is discussed that there were two types tutelary shrines for Edo castle town and for each town, samurai residence or temple in the city of Edo by analyzing enshrining and reconstruction of shrines described in “Jisha Kakiage”. Successive shoguns have enshrined new shrines and intervened some shrines by reconstructing these buildings or certificating lands. The intervention to shrines by shoguns has been strengthening the personal inclination than tutelary shrines against the whole Edo castle town. On the other hand, inhabitants in the city of Edo have enshrined new shrines and refurbished old shrines for tutelary shrines against each personal territory. While these tutelary shrines in same cases overlapped, there two types tutelary shrines. Almost of shrines to account samurai residences as Ujiko formed a territory of Ujiko above a whole district. This fact indicates that the relationships based on territorial acknowledgement between So-chinju, which is a big tutelary shrine guarding a wide district, and Ujiko of these shrines were established in the city of Edo. These shrines are almost same to tutelary shrines for Edo castle town in this chapter and divided territories of Ujiko without overlap. However, some communities of Ujiko consisted of a few towns or samurai residences were settled over the wide district territories of Ujiko. The above multi-layered territory is most important character of the shrine religion in the city of Edo. In chapter 4, relocations of shrines are described in the transition of the city form of Edo from a medieval town to the premodern castle town by analyzing relocation of shrines described in “Jisha Kakiage”. Relocation of shrines were able to be classified continuous relocation or advanced one from the viewpoint to increase or decrease their precinct lands. The latter relocation has been executed by the shogunate government or sometimes Daimyo families in order to convert a meaning of shrine as an object of faith. Through these relocations, a lot of shrines were converted into tutelary shrines of new towns or whole districts developed for city functions. In the other words, the shogunate government and inhabitants in the city of Edo activated the land of Edo with shrines like the following. One is to build a shrine by enshrining or relocating from other places as a tutelary shrine. Other is to refurbish an original shrine of the land. Then, these shrines were sometimes relocated by the demand of the shogunate government or self-control and changed their place to guard. Some towns changed relationships as Ujiko when shrines were relocated to another place and the degree of faith swayed.

A survey of researches on persistent current switches for superconducting magnets is presented.Basic principles and methods of persistent current switches are given. General characteristics and some problems of thermal type and mechanical type persistent current switches are described including off-state resistance, on-state resistance, stability of switch-superconductor, responce time and consumption of liquid He. Some examples of these switches are given.

With the gradually increase of the application of new energy in microgrids, Electric Spring (ES), as a new type of distributed compensation power electronic device has been widely studied. The Generalized Electric Spring (G-ES) is an improved topology, and the space limitation problem in the traditional topology is solved. Because of the mode of G-ES use in the power grid, a reasonable solution to the voltage loss of the critical section feeder is needed. In this paper, the voltage balance equation based on the feedforward compensation coefficient is established, and a two cascade control strategy based on the equation is studied. The first stage of the two cascade control strategy is to use communication means to realize the allocation of feedforward compensation coefficients, and the second stage is to use the coefficients to realize feedforward fixed angle control. Simulation analysis shows that the proposed control strategy does not affect the control accuracy of the critical load (CL), and effectively improves the operational range of the G-ES.

With the recent global outbreak of COVID-19, there is an urgent need to establish a versatile diagnostic method for viral infections. Gene amplification test or antigen test are widely used to diagnose viral infections; however, these methods generally have technical drawbacks either in terms of sensitivity, accuracy, or throughput. To address this issue, we recently developed an amplification-free digital RNA detection method (SATORI), which can identify and detect viral genes at the single-molecule level in approximately 9 min, satisfying almost all detection performance requirements for the diagnosis of viral infections. In addition, we also developed practical platforms for SATORI, such as an automated platform (opn-SATORI) and a low-cost compact fluorescence imaging system (COWFISH), with the aim of application in clinical settings. Our latest technologies can be inherently applied to diagnose a variety of RNA viral infections, such as COVID-19 and Influenza A/B, and therefore, we expect that SATORI will be established as a versatile platform for point-of-care testing of a wide range of infectious diseases, thus contributing to the prevention of future epidemics.
