We evaluated the innate immune-stimulating activity of amazake using a silkworm muscle contraction assay. Sake cake, a raw material used to make amazake, had high innate immunity-stimulating activity, whereas rice malt, another raw material used to make amazake, did not, even after fermentation. These results suggest that the silkworm muscle contraction assay is a useful tool to screen foods with high innate immune-stimulating activity and that amazake made from sake cake has immunomodulatory potential.

丹波福知山地方に「ちょろけん」と呼ばれる手織の自家用織物がある。ところが「ちょろけん」とは江戸時代唐船や紅毛船により舶載され珍重された渡来裂であり, その名は早くに定着しているがその定義や使用例に不明な点が多い。この二つの裂の関係を「木目文様」を鍵として考察する。

The purpose of this research was to study the relationship between psychological aspects and behavioral aspects of career self-reliance and further to study the effect of career self-reliance on career fulfillment and organizational commitment among adult corporate employees. A questionnaire was administered on a website to 335 business persons working in multiple companies mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area. A path model was proposed for demonstrating the relationships among variables of career self-reliance, career fulfillment and organizational commitment. The following variables was constructed; three psychological variables and four behavioral variables composing career self-reliance, three variables composing career fulfillment and two variables comprising organizational commitment. The model was best fit by covariance structure analysis. Major findings were as follows: (1) psychological variables of career self-reliance such as clarity of career self-concept, career development motivation, and career self-efficacy promoted career selfreliance behavior; (2) career self-reliance influenced career fulfillment; (3) career self-reliance had indirect effects on organizational commitment through career fulfillment.

公的・私的自己意識と自我体験――「私」への「なぜ」という問い――の関連を検討した.自我体験とは,「私はなぜ私なのか」,「私はどこから来たのだろう」といった水準の「私」への問いである.この点について,中学生239名・大学生228名を対象に,質問紙調査を行った.その結果,中学生においては,公的・私的自己意識の分化はあまり見られなかった.しかし,自我体験を報告した群の方が未体験群よりも公的・私的自己意識間の相関が低く,より分化が見られた.そして,公的・私的自己意識双方と自我体験の間に関連が見られ,中学生においては,公的・私的自己意識と自我体験の間に密接な関連があることが示された.一方大学生では,私的自己意識だけに自我体験との間に関連が見られた.また自我体験については,118名の中学生と108名の大学生から自我体験が報告され,体験率は中学生が49.4%・大学生が47.4%であった.

全世界的に血液疾患特に悪性疾患におけるCOVID-19は死亡率が極めて高いことが多数報告されている。当院における大規模院内感染においても,無症状者を除いた場合の生存率は血液疾患患者において明らかに不良であり,特に酸素投与が開始となってから死亡に至るまでの日数が中央値5日と急速な増悪を認めた。非悪性疾患ではprednisoloneによる初回治療中のITP 2例が,急速に進行する肺炎/呼吸不全で死亡した。悪性疾患では,寛解確認前やステロイドを含む化学療法施行例は高リスク群であり,リンパ系悪性疾患が骨髄系疾患との比較で死亡症例を多く認めた。また呼吸不全に対しては,副腎ステロイド投与が著効した症例を経験した。なおSARS-CoV-2 IgG抗体獲得に至らない症例においては再感染ないし再燃のリスクがあり得ることに注意が必要である。

海外における日本語教育が近年盛んに行われている状況の中,本稿では,日本とベトナム民主共和国(北ベトナム)との国交がまだなかったドイモイ改革前の時代に,ベトナム政府はなぜ日本語人材の育成を開始したのか,またロシア語偏重の外国語教育政策の中で日本語教育政策はどのように展開され,その目的は何だったのかに関し,日越双方の文献資料と関係者に対するインタビューにより調査・分析した。その結果,ドイモイ改革前の外国語教育政策における日本語人材の育成は,〝職業割り当て制度〟と密接に関わっており,社会主義国家建設のための幹部育成の一つの方策であったことを明らかにした。日本とベトナムとの国交樹立以降は,高等教育レベルで徐々に整備されていったが,日本語学習は個人の選択ではなく各大学により半ば強制的に決定され,また,教育の規模も国際政治経済情勢の動向に直接的に左右される非常に不安定なものであった。

In this paper, we describe a novel 3-D Luneburg lens using radial holes. A Luneburg lens can suppress the side lobe of the antenna and increase the gain. The prototype Luneburg lens was fabricated using a 30mm radius dielectric sphere with uniform permittivity by 2.1 and many holes by 1mm radius, called radial holes drilled vertically on the sphere surface. The relative permittivity distribution of the Luneburg lens is realized by changing the number and depth of five types of holes. To confirm the effectiveness of the fabricated Luneburg lens, the far-field radiation pattern at 25GHz was measured using a flanged rectangular waveguide as a wave source. It achieved a high gain of 22.4dBi. The measured radiation pattern generally agreed well with the theoretical radiation pattern of the Luneburg lens, and the validity of the Luneburg lens with radial holes at the quasi-millimeter wave was confirmed. It can be used for beam steering in 5G/6G base stations.

向精神薬の副作用である口渇は,治療コンプライアンスやQOLを低下させる障害である。そこで本研究では,口渇症状を訴える向精神薬服用者に対して,抗コリンエステラーゼ作用による唾液分泌促進効果が報告されているH2遮断薬nizatidineを投与し,その効果を検討した。当科外来受診中の向精神薬服用者のうち,口渇を訴えた22名(男性6名,女性16名,平均年齢53.1±14.8歳)を対象とし,nizatidine(アシノンⓇ)を通法に従い,8週間投与し,口渇自覚症状スケールを用いてその間の口渇症状の変化を観察した。その結果,nizatidine投与前と比較して,4週,8週で口渇症状は改善した。このことより,nizatidineは向精神薬服用者の口渇症状改善に有用と思われた。

In embryonic stem (ES) cell colonies, a small subpopulation that changes cell shape and loses pluripotency often appears in two-dimensional (2D) cultures, even in the presence of a stemness factor. We have previously shown that membrane translocation of the syntaxin4, t-SNARE protein contributes to this phenomenon. Here, we show that ES cells in three-dimensional (3D) aggregates do not succumb to extruded syntaxin4 owing to suppressed expression of P-cadherin protein. While extracellular expression of syntaxin4 led to the striking upregulation of P-cadherin mRNA in both 2D and 3D-ES cells, morphological changes and appreciable expression of P-cadherin protein were detected only in 2D-ES cells. Importantly, the introduction of an expression cassette for P-cadherin practically reproduced the effects induced by extracellular syntaxin4, where the transgene product was clearly detected in 2D-, but not 3D-ES cells. An expression construct for P-cadherin-Venus harboring an in-frame insertion of the P2A sequence at the joint region gave fluorescent signals only in the cytoplasm of 2D-ES cells, demonstrating translational regulation of P-cadherin. These results provide the mechanistic insight into the uncontrollable differentiation in 2D-ES cells and shed light on the validity of the “embryoid body protocol commonly used for ES cell handling” for directional differentiation.Key words: differentiation, embryoid body, ES cells, P-cadherin, syntaxin4
