ITの発達によりあらゆる人が情報を発信することが容易になった。事実,フェイク,実物と識別が困難なディープフェイクが混在し,事実誤認も「違う形の事実alternative fact」とされ,また公文書の改竄が公然と行われる。自分の好む情報のみを取り入れる傾向が強まっている社会において,事実の記録・保存・提供という情報に携わる人々の仕事の重要性と社会責任はこれまでになく増しており,人文学司書の存在意義と役割は極めて重要になっている。

How do expert storytelling artists captivate audiences with a single performance? In study 1, we observed the eyeblink responses of expertized 7 of 20 audience members (10 male and 10 female, aged 16 to 67 years; M =40.6, SD =16.4) at the performance of two professional story-telling Rakugo artists. With using a surrogate data method,the statistically significant synchronization of eyeblinks among audience members was detected when performers changed scenes and characters and immediately after the performer delivered words essential to the understanding of the story. In study 2, we conducted a laboratory experiment with 32 (19 male and 13 female) participants aged 20 to 34 years (M =22.56, SD =2.85) to examine whether the expertise of the story-teller affected the frequency and intensity of synchronization of eyeblinks by recording each participant’s eyeblinks. The synchronization of eyeblinks was also detected in this study that each participant viewed videotapes alone, which eliminated potential au-dience interaction. The participants who were assigned to the watching a videotaped performance of an expert storyteller displayed frequent synchronized eyeblinks and had a higher score of transportation into the narrative world of Rakugo compared to those were assigned to watch a videotaped performance of a novice. These results imply that expert performers gain a listener’s unintentional process of attention as well as somatic-emotional responses, evidenced by synchronized eyeblinks.

最近、原書のテキストから簡略したテキストを授業で使用することが推奨されている。最近の研究では、この簡略化されたテキストが原本と同様に真の学習経験を第二言語学習者に提供していることを多くの研究者が示唆している。しかし、簡略化されたテキストの効用、つまり意味、背景、人物に関するテキストの持つ重要な特徴に関しては、ほとんど研究されていない。そこで、この研究では、簡略化テキスト自体が原書のテキストが持つ潜在的な独自性をどのように変更され、この変更に対して機能的な文法表現をどのように採用されているかを研究することを目的とする。この研究を進める上で、アーサー・コナン・ドイル(Arthur Conan Doyle)の`The Copper Beeches' の冒頭部分を抽出し、そのオープニングの表現をリチャード・ゲアリー(Richard Geary)の簡略テキストを使用し比較する。さらに、これらの発見が授業に対してどのような意義があるのかを検討していく。

「化学物質過敏症」の病因を解明する目的で、気道の先天的生体防御反応である気道分泌との関連から検討を行った。気道での曝露刺激感受性部位と推定されるTRPV-1受容体を介した気道分泌物に注目して、可視的定量法を用いMCS患者の気道分泌による防御機構を検討した。 我々の実験結果から、TRPV1のアゴニストであるカプサイシン(10uM)の粘膜側添加は、軽度の分泌更新をもたらすこと、また、粘膜面をホルマリン(20ppm30-60分)に暴露した気道では分泌が一時的に亢進していルことが示された。これらのデータは、MCS患者の気道分泌が一時的に亢進している可能性を示唆している。

本稿では,フルートの運指を最適化する手法と,その最適化モデルに含まれるパラメータのチューニングについて述べる.今回提案する手法ではこの最適化問題を,対象とするパッセージから生成されるグラフの最短路問題に帰着してモデル化した.このグラフは,パッセージ中の音に対する運指の候補を頂点集合とし,隣同士の音に対する運指間に有向辺をつけたものである.頂点間距離には,二つの運指を続けて演奏する際のやりにくさを適切に定めて用いる.また,パラメータを用いて距離を定めており,パラメータの値によって出力される運指が変化する.更に,例えばユーザの使い慣れた運指を教師信号とし,その運指が出力されるようにパラメータをチューニングする問題を逆問題として定式化した.This paper describes an optimization method of flute fingerings and parameter tuning. Our op timization method uses a shortest path problem of a directed graph generated by an objective passage. The vertices are the probable fingerings of the tones of the passage, and the arcs are the pairs of fingerings of the consecutive tones. The distance is defined as suitably designed difficulty in using the fingerings. Besides, this method has some parameters in calculation of distance and outputs different fingerings with the same passage by changing the parameter values. Furthermore, we propose a method of tuning the parameter values based on inverse optimization so as to, for example, get the accustomed fingerings of a certain passage as output.

The Qing’s fledgling diplomatic system in the late 19th century was supported both domestically and abroad by Westerners employed as diplomatic staff in its legations and consulates; as auxiliary advisors primarily outsourced from the Imperial Maritime Customs Service on an ad-hoc basis by provincial governors; and by Robert Hart, Inspector General of the Imperial Maritime Customs Service. However, scholars have yet to provide an in-depth analysis of the role and significance of the Western staff in the Qing’s legations and consulates. In order to begin to clarify the role of such individuals, this paper analyses the function of Halliday Macartney, a Scotsman who served as Counsellor to the Qing Legation in London, in informal negotiations during the Sino-French War which were overseen by his direct superior Zeng Jize, the then incumbent Qing Minister to Britain and Russia. Past studies have typically portrayed Zeng’s diplomacy as a singlehanded effort, and have failed to recognise the contributions of Macartney. This author demonstrates how, in the case of Zeng’s diplomacy during the Sino-French War, while ultimate accountability lay with Zeng, Macartney was responsible for: (1) overseeing informal negotiations with agents of the French government; (2) acting as go-between for the Qing Legation with the British Foreign Office when attempting to elicit both formal and informal British assistance; and (3) drawing up all treaty drafts produced by the Qing London Legation in this period. Moreover, this paper demonstrates how Macartney’s bicultural identity and bicultural understanding benefited the Qing side in these negotiations. It argues that Macartney’s social standing within European society, and the concomitant personal networks it enabled, helped to initiate the informal negotiations referred to above. It further demonstrates how Macartney’s multilingual talents and familiarity with both traditional Chinese and Westphalian systems of interstate relations enabled him, in a last-ditch attempt at achieving rapprochement between the two parties, to clarify for the French side the enigmatic demands of the Qing relating to a purely nominal acceptance of the continuation of the ‘suzerain-vassal’ relationship between China and Vietnam, after accepting French sovereignty over Vietnam. The author concludes that Zeng’s diplomacy ought to be interpreted in light of these contributions by Macartney.

There are many abandoned rice fields all over Japan. Most of them were abandoned by set-aside programs that began in 1970. This paper deals with the vegetation of wet abandoned rice fields in Hiroshima Prefecture. From the case study in the Saijo Basin, Higashi-Hiroshima, four plant communities are described : the Juncus leschenaultii community on the first-year fields, and three communities on older fields, the Ischaemum aristatum var. glaucum-Eupatorium lindleyanum community, the Isachne globosa community and the Eleocharis kuroguwai community. Vegetation change on abandoned rice fields is explained based on the species composition of abandoned rice fields communities and natural wetlands communities. Six threatened plant species were found on abandoned rice fields in Hiroshima Prefecture. Old abandoned rice fields have developed into various kinds of wetlands such as swamp woods, Moliniopsis marshes, sedge marshes and reedswamps. Although the old abandoned rice fields are the secondary wetlands, they will be more and more valuable in the future as the wildlife habitats not only in Hiroshima Prefecture but also in many other places in Japan.
