The human body contains many microorganisms, including a large number of bacteria, viruses, fungi, and protozoa, which are referred to as the microbiota. Compared with the number of cells comprising the human body, that of the microbiota has been found to be much larger. The microbiome is defined as microorganisms and their genomes have been shown to contain about 100 times more genes than the human genome. The microbiota affects many vital functions in the human body. It contributes to regulation of the immune system, digestion of food, production of vitamins such as B12 and K, metabolization of xenobiotic materials, and many other tasks. Many factors affect the microbiota biodiversity, such as diet, medicines including antibiotics, relationships with the environment, pregnancy, and age. Studies have shown that the lack of microbiota diversity leads to many diseases like autoimmune diseases such as diabetes type I, rheumatism, muscular dystrophy, problems in blood coagulation due to lack of vitamin K, and disturbances in the transfer of nerve cells due to lack of vitamin B12, in addition to its involvement in a number of conditions such as cancer, memory disorders, depression, stress, autism, and Alzheimer’s disease. The aim of this review is to summarize the latest studies discussing the relationship between the microbiota and the human body in health and diseases.

Autocatalytic-reaction model, a chemical-kinetics model that provides an integrated description of various dynamical processes in the very initial oxidation of Si(100) surface, is illustrated. The nonlinear rate equation of this model has an analytical solution. With only two fitting parameters as it is, the solution quantitatively reproduces the experimental time-evolution of the surface oxide coverage in various oxidation modes, which range from the Langmuir-type in the low-temperature/high-pressure regime to the two-dimensional-island-growth-type in the high-temperature/low-pressure regime, or even to the one in the etching regime containing simultaneous decomposition of grown oxides in addition to their growth. Microscopic background behind the model is discussed in comparison with existing oxidation models and thin-film-growth models.

第2世代ソフト電解水・AP水の口腔内適用における局所毒性ならびに全身毒性について,マウスを用いて観察し安全性評価を試みた.AP水は,マウスに給水瓶から飲水として7日間自由に摂取させた.対照群には飼育施設常用の飲水を与えた.その結果,一般症状,体重増加,摂餌量,剖検,臓器重量において異常は認められなかった.摂水量はAP水群で,対照群よりもわずかに減少傾向がみられたが,有意差はなかった.肝,腎,舌の病理組織学的観察,下顎臼歯の表面形態のSEMによる観察においても異常は見られなかった.以上のことから,AP水を含嗽,口腔内洗浄などに用いた際に,全身的あるいは局所的な毒性を発現する可能性は極めて低いことが示唆された.

本論文は近世文学に登場する楽器が、作品にどのような影響を与えているのかを考察したものである。今回は主として曲亭馬琴の著作を取り上げた。『南総里見八犬伝』や『椿説弓張月』・『美濃旧衣八丈綺談』等である。馬琴の作品に描かれている楽器には音響効果としての役割以外にも意味がある。ではその意味とは何かという点を追及した。取り上げた楽器は笛、琴の二種である。

Purpose<br>The purpose of this study is to recognize the effect of exercise for cuff muscles using EMG.<br>Materials and Methods<br>5 healthy young men, aged from 17 to 29 yrs., were examined. The "resisted external rotation"exercise for the infraspinatus muscle was estimated. The Cuff-Y exercise with a yellow Thera-Band and F. W. Jobe's strengthening exercise with a 1.5kg weight were compared. During the exercises, the infraspinatus, the supraspinatus, the deltoid, and the middle fiber of the trapezius were examined with EMG. The EMG was recorded continuously from the beginning for 5 minutes.<br>Results<br>The exercise withe the yellow Thera-Band could dominate the activity of the infraspinatus muscle compared to other muscles. As for the exercises with a 1.5kg weight, it was difficult to keep the activity of the infraspinatus advantageous and the 5 volunteers demonstrated five different patterns of muscle activity. Furthermore, the relative activity of the infraspinatus gradually decreased with time.<br>Conclusion<br>Exercises for cuff muscles should be carried out to keep the dominant activity of the targeted muscle compared to other muscles. The setting of the load and time limit both failed and the purpose of the exercise could not be attained.

解剖実習用遺体7体(男性4体,女性3体)7肩(右側5肩,左側2肩)を対象とし,後方腱板(棘下筋,小円筋)と後方関節包との結合様式について肉眼的に観察した。棘下筋と後方関節包との間には,筋線維による直接的な連絡は認められず,関節包を裏打ちするがごとく疎性結合組織によって密着していた。小円筋と後方関節包との間には,小円筋の関節包側の筋線維が腋窩陥凹部後方から関節包後下方にかけて直接付着する所見が認められた。棘下筋の機能として,後方関節包の後方からの支持機能および,自身の収縮力を効率よく大結節へと伝達する支点形成機能が考えられた。小円筋の機能として,大結節へと停止する線維群による支点形成機能の他に,関節包側の筋線維群による肩関節外旋運動時の挟み込みの防止および肩関節挙上時における静的支持機構の補助機能が考えられた。

Seasonal food supply for the house spider, Achaearanea tepidariorum, was investigated from 1985 to 1986 on the campus of Hirosaki University, Aomori Prefecture. A total of 1490 animals caught by the spider were collected in the two years census and classified into 15 orders of arthropods, in which wingless animals predominated. The abundance of the wingless animals in the diets might be due to the web structure of this spider. Though the spiders fed at any time, more than half of the prey items were captured during the daytime (6 : 00-18 : 00). The seasonal food supply as inferred from the rate of predation shows an unimodal pattern with a peak in July. The result corresponded well with the seasonal trend of the number of possible prey animals collected by sticky traps in the same field. As this spider continues to reproduce over a long period of time, its nymphal development should be considerably affected by the seasonal food supply.
