ブナ科樹木の萎凋病菌Raffaelea quercivoraに対する外国産コナラ属樹種の感受性を明らかにするため,Quercus palustris, Q. robur, Q. rubra,日本産アラカシの各種苗木に対して,多点・1点接種を行った.その結果,多点接種における対照,無処理木では枯死が確認されなかったが,接種木ではQ. rubraのみで枯死が確認され,その枯死率は42%であった.また,枯死率は樹種間で有意に異なった.1点接種の接種木においてQ. rubraの接種部横断面における変色域の割合は,アラカシのものに比べ,有意に高かった.以上の結果から,R. quercivoraは外国産のQ. rubraに対して病原性を有することが明らかとなった.

Movements of the lower legs and feet during ascending and descending of stairs were observed, and flat shoes, 3cm-heeled pumps, and 8cm-heeled pumps were compared with respect to their functional mobility. The results were as follows:(1) Twenty female university students participated in the test, which involved measuring the length of time required to walk a certain distance and to ascend/descend stairs. When thesubjects were wearing high-heeled pumps, the length of time required to walk a certain distance increased, and the time required to descend stairs increased remarkably.(2) Further observation was carried out for six female students when they ascended and descended stairs, and the movements of their legs and feet were analyzed. When the subjects werewearing high-heeled pumps, the angle between the leg and instep became larger than when they wore other types of shoes, the muscle of the instep was continuously extended, and the rotationof the ankle became smaller; these facts indicate that high-heeled shoes restrict free movement of the leg and foot.(3) Pressure distribution on the sole was measured to examine the mobility function of highheeled shoes. When the subjects stepped on the ground, there was no difference in the total pressureapplied to the sole according to the type of shoes. When they kicked the ground, however, the total pressure on the sole was the smallest for the flat shoes. As the heels of the shoes becamehigher, more pressure was applied to the front part of the sole, and the transfer of the pressure position during motion became smaller. As a result, it was revealed that high-heeled shoes had an influence on antero-posterior balance of the foot in walking movement.

The coastal districts of China have been industrializing since the 1980s. The nine cities in the Zhujian Delta in Guangdong Province were the earliest cases of industrialization in China which implemented the reform and opening-up policies. The industrialization of this area has three characteristics below. (1) Regional division of labour between Guangdong cities and Hong Kong/ Macau (Qian Dian Hou Chang). (2) The “Three-plus-one” trading-mix (San Lai Yi Bu), which means the combination of four types of transnational trade, namely the processing of materials supplied by overseas clients, the assembly of equipment supplied by overseas clients, the production of goods based on samples provided by overseas clients and the compensation transaction of offsetting the pre-rented equipment fee by sales.(3) Internal migrant workers from rural districts to industrial cities (Nong Ming Gong) under the Chinese residential registration system. Incidentally, industrial workers migrated from rural districts have been increasing in these districts and social problems in the field of social security, education etc. have been observed. 中華人民共和国では、1998年12月に共産党が改革開放路線への転換を正式に決定して以来、市場経済の制度を採り入れ、また外国企業による投資を受け入れることにより、沿海部を中心に工業化が進行して都市と工業地帯が拡大した。本稿では、中国沿海部で最初に工業化を進めた珠江デルタ地域を対象として、こうした社会変動の論理を解明する。そこでは、第一に、「前店後廠」と呼ばれる広東省の工業都市と香港・マカオとの地域間分業構造が形成されて、前者の工業化と後者の脱工業化が同時進行した。第二に、広東省における輸出志向の工業は、「三来一補」と呼ばれる委託生産を主要な取引形態とした。このことにより、中国は、土地と労働力という固有の資源を活用しながら、製造設備、部品素材、科学技術という不足していた資源を外国から導入できた。第三に、内陸部農村に本籍を有する労働者が沿海部に移住して工業労働に携わり、「農民工」と呼ばれた。沿海部工業地帯に農村を出自とした賃金労働者が集積し、定住化が進むにつれて、社会保障や次世代の教育といった分野で社会政策上の課題が発生している。

Meta-analyses have concluded that combined aerobic and high-intensity or moderate-intensity resistance exercise training has no effects on arterial stiffness. However, a recent study demonstrated that combined aerobic training and resistance training using rubber bands increases basal nitric oxide (NO) production and decreases arterial stiffness with marked reduction of body weight in obese adolescent girls. To investigate whether combined aerobic and low-intensity resistance training increases basal NO production and decreases arterial stiffness without body weight reduction in older adults, 27 healthy older individuals participated in a 6-week program as a part of the training group (mean body mass index, 21 kg/m2; walking and resistance training using one’s body weight) or the control group (22 kg/m2, asked not to modify their lifestyle). The exercise intervention increased aerobic capacity, muscle strength, and plasma concentrations of nitrite/nitrate (end products of NO) and decreased pulse wave velocity (an index of arterial stiffness) without changes in body weight. In the control group, there were no differences in these measures before and after the study period. These results suggest that combined aerobic and low-intensity resistance exercise training increases basal NO production and decreases arterial stiffness in healthy older adults.
