Two design considerations to the exact linearization method that yield a robust controller to parameter variations are proposed. The first one is that the feedback gains using exact linearization are determined to be equal to those of the linear approximated design. This means that the closed-loop system has no less robustness than the corresponding linear approximated design. Another design consideration is based on the idea that two vector fields before and after the nonlinear transformation are made to be equal each other near the design point. Thus, the transformed system retains the original stability characteristics. The first consideration is then used to design a nonlinear controller of an aircraft with a jump phenomena due to roll coupling. The equations of motion are examined from viewpoint of exact linearization, and the required ransformation is obtained analytically. The designed controller is examined for the control input magnitude and parameter variations, and the robustness is compared with a linear controller.

A new indolocarbazole anticancer agent, NB-506 (6-N-formylamino-12, 13-dihydro-1, 11-dihydroxy-13-β-D-glucopyranosyl) -5H-indolo [2, 3-a] pyrrolo [3, 4-c] carbazole-5, 7 (6H) -dione) was developed. The total synthesis of NB-506 was successfully achieved with a new glycosylation reaction which was carried out in good yield with high β-selectivity. Moreover the Mitsunobu reaction was newly found to be a convenient method for synthesizing dissymmetric indolocarbazole glycosides at the glycosylation step.

A selective nonpeptidic δ opioid receptor agonist TAN-67, (4aS*, 12 aR*) -4 a- (3-hydroxyphenyl) -2-methyl-1, 2, 3, 4, 4 a, 5, 12, 12 a-octahydropyrido [3, 4-b] acridine was designed from the selective δ opioid receptor antagonist NTI on the basis of the message-address concept and the accessory site theory. (-) -TAN-67 is a potent and selective δ1 opioid receptor agonist and showed profound antinociceptive effect, cardioprotective effect, and antiarrhythmic effect. On the contrary, (+) -TAN-67 induced hyperalgesia, which is the opposite effect of the antinociception. Optical resolution of racemic TAN-67 and the synthesis of (4aS*, 8 aR*) -4 a- (3-methoxyphenyl) -2-methyl-6-oxodecahydroisoquinoline, the important intermediate ketone of TAN-67 synthesis were also described.

本稿は, 19世紀後半のアメリカでの熱狂的日本流行のはじまりといわれるフィラデルフィア万国博覧会(1876年)の日本の出品物について明らかにするため, 本館における日本の展示を, 今日に残る写真をもとにして考察したものである。その結果, 「米国博覧会報告書 日本出品目録 貮」に付図された「米国費府博覧会本館内日本列品区畫図」は, 写真に見える範囲において, 出品物の配置, 出品物名, 出品人名を, ほぼ正確に伝えていることが分かった。このことにより, 部分的ではあるが, 出品物と会場構成との関係が明らかになり, それとともに, 一部の写真の出品物について類推できた。また, 写真と類似の挿絵を掲載した当時の出版物の記述内容や出品目録の記述内容を考察することにより, アメリカの人々の日本の出品物への受け止め方, アメリカでのアール・ヌーヴォーとの関連, そして, ウィーン万国博覧会(1873年)との関連が明らかになった。

The key issue of the present drug development is to find the lead compound in the minimum time and cost by using all kinds of new and traditional technology such as genomic drug discovery, random High Throughput Screening (HTS), virtual screening, combinatorial chemistry, X-ray crystal analysis, molecular modeling and so on. It is crucial to build up efficiently Chemical Compound Library with wide diversity to be applied to HTS for any kind of biological activity. University Compound Project at Foundation for Education of Science and Technology was started on February 2002, to use more efficiently not commercially-available domestic and abroad University Compounds (UC) for the drug development by building up the University Compound Data Base (UCDB). So far, 60 chemists at 35 universities and institutes, and 12 companies have joined to the project. The project has collected about 29, 000 UCDB available to the participating companies for the selection of UC and would add about 10, 000 UCDB every year.

北陸地方の神通川と庄川において, サクラマス親魚の河川への遡上と滞留状況を1991∿1995年に調べた。神通川への遡上は2∿6月であり, その盛期は5月にあった。遡上親魚の大きさは尾叉長58.5±4.9cm, 体重2.8kg±0.8kgで, 遡上親魚の74.7%を雌が占めた。庄川中流域における流し網による親魚の捕獲調査では, 96.4%の個体が淵で捕獲された。神通川で4∿6月に漁獲された個体の80.2%が空胃であった。これらのことから, サクラマスは河川に遡上後は中流域の淵に滞留し, ほとんど摂餌せずに越夏するものと推測された。サクラマス資源の効率的な増大のためには, 淵の保全・復元が極めて重要であると考えられた。

植込み型除細動器 (ICD) は心室頻拍/細動 (VT/VF) に基づく突然死の1次/2次予防に有効な治療法であることが示されている. しかしながら, ICDの植え込みを施行したにもかかわらず救命困難な症例も存在する. 今回, VFに対しICDが作動したにもかかわらず死亡した2症例を経験したので報告する.  症例1 : 56歳, 男性. 陳旧性心筋梗塞後の低心機能症例で, VTに対しICD植え込みを施行したが, 約1年後, 心肺停止 (CPA) にて搬送され死亡した. ICDの記録にてVFによる作動が確認された.  症例2 : 69歳, 男性. 2004年4月にCPAで当院搬送され救命され, 冠攣縮性狭心症に伴うVFに対しICD植え込みを施行した. 心機能は良好であり狭心症治療薬の服用も励行していたが, 再びCPAとなり死亡した. ICDの記録にてVFによる作動が確認された.  結語 : 冠動脈攣縮に伴うVF症例および虚血性心疾患に基づく重度の低心機能例ではICDが作動してもVT/VFが停止しない場合もあり, 冠攣縮の薬物コントロール, あるいはアブレーションなどの心室性不整脈に対する対策が望まれる.

This paper focuses on the works of Luis Althusser, especially his early works such as Reading Capital and For Marx. Althusser is known as structural Marxist but his works contain various elements including psychoanalysis, epistemology, and linguistics. I reevaluate his early works from the viewpoints of mass communication study. What is most important in Althusser's work is that it shows the way of empirical analysis of"discourse". Therefore, to reevaluate Althusser is to make clear his way of analysing discourse, "symptom reading". Nowadays, the concept of discourse draws much attention from sociologists in various fields. Some structuralists and post-structuralists have explored a variety of techniques for the analysis of discourse. Althusser's method is the most important one among them. According to Tim Dant, sociological analysis of knowledge and ideology is possible through the empirical analysis of discourse. He explains the meaning of discourse in his Knowledge, Ideology and Discourse as follows. By discourse, he means"the material content of utterances exchanged in social contexts that are imbued with meaning by the intention of utterers and treated as meaningful by other participants."And"the meaning is a property of the structural feature."In the field of mass communication study, Althusser is known for his theory of ideology which is explored in his latter works. The Cultural Studies Group is deeply effected by his theory of ideology. Althusser viewed the ideology as a representation of the imaginary relationship of individuals with the real condition of their existence. However, in his latter works, discourse is explained only in terms of reproduction of class society. On the contrary, structuralists think that discourse has its inherent power which bind human recognition and act. Althusser's early works are examples which exposes such power in the realm of human recognition. And his contribution to mass media study is made clear when we understand his way of exposing such power through his discourse analysis.
