胆嚢穿孔,胆汁瘻とも,有石胆嚢炎に起因する重要な合併症として知られている. いずれも比較的稀な疾患とされ,最近20年間における筆者らの経験でも,胆嚢穿孔(開放性穿孔)と呼び得るものは,1,642例の胆嚢炎手術例中,僅か5例,0.3%と少なく(表1),また胆汁瘻(胆嚢瘻)にしても,同期間中,14例を数えるに過ぎない(表2).

河崎なつ(1889―1966 河崎ナツ、河崎夏子と表記される場合もある)は、戦前は市川房枝らと共に婦人参政権獲得運動に加わり、戦後は参議院議員も務めた。日本母親大会の創設や原水爆禁止運動にも関わった社会運動家として、広く知られている。その一方で河崎は優れた教育者でもあった。奈良教育大学の前身校の一つである奈良県師範学校女子部を卒業後、母校でもある五條尋常小学校を振り出しに、東京女子高等師範学校や同校の研究科への進学を挟みながら、小樽女子高等女学校、東京女子高等師範学校、東京女子大学、女子英学塾(現在の津田塾大学)、文化学院、白梅学園短期大学などで教鞭をとり、専門とする作文指導には定評があった。河崎について論じた文献は、社会運動家としての側面に注目したものが多く見られるが、河崎の出発点は教育者であり、その終着点も教育者にあった。本稿では河崎の教育者としての歩みをトータルに俯瞰しながら、その原点を探っていった。

University students in Japan tend to listen to music frequently, perhaps to regulate their current mood. In the present study, we aimed to develop the Japanese version of the “Brief Music in Mood Regulation” scale (B-MMR) and examined its reliability and validity. Based on 307 Japanese undergraduates’ responses, we constructed the Japanese version of the B-MMR, which is comparable with the original B-MMR. Moreover, we confirmed that several aspects of the Japanese version of the B-MMR are positively correlated with general emotional regulation and stress coping strategies. Our Japanese version of the B-MMR can be used in future studies to explore the effects of listening to music on people’s quality of life and well-being.

This study aims to examine the influence of the Espionage Act of 1917 on freedom of the press in the United States. This article consists of the following sections. The first section introduces the outline of the system for classifying state secrets and the Espionage Act. The second section presents problems in the Espionage Act regarding freedom of the press. The third section provides cases that show the tendency to broadly apply the Espionage Act. The last section considers the strict control of access to information under the Espionage Act by the Obama administration. This study concludes that the Espionage Act has had a damaging effect on freedom of the press for the following reasons. Prosecuting people who divulge information brings about the chilling effect of furnishing the information. Government officials are increasingly afraid to talk to journalists. This situation is especially serious in the Obama administration compared with all previous U.S. administrations because of the aggressive prosecution of people who have divulged classified information. Although the Justice Department has never prosecuted journalists for violating the Espionage Act, there are dangerous attempts to prosecute individuals who act like journalists. In addition, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against a journalist forced to reveal his source who disclosed information illegally. Laws and systems for protecting state secrets in which provisions are ambiguous and interpretations thereof are arbitrary infringe on civil liberties. Moreover, broad electronic information surveillance also deters sources from providing information to journalists. These problems occur not only in the United States but in Japan also. Because the Special Secrecy Law in Japan has no regard for the people's right to know, conditions in Japan will worsen with the enforcement of this law.

The purpose of this study was to specify the role of the low-rank acticept in human bodily thinking from a phenomenological viewpoint. An acticept is the gestalt of a percept with time factor and is a complex comprising a percept of action and phenomena resulting from the action. The word “acticept” is a compound of “action plus percept”, and “percept” means the content of perception. For the purpose of this study, the concept of a low-rank acticept is clarified by examining human bodily thinking as compared with verbal thinking. First, the author defines the problem, and then discusses the concept of the acticept as perception. On this basis, the formation and the role of a low-rank acticept is discussed, and the relationship between acticept and low-rank acticept is considered further. From this relationship, the prospect of classifying low-rank acticepts is demonstrated. As a result, the author describes the role of the low-rank acticept in human bodily thinking. The conclusions made are as follows. Human bodily thinking has a logical system different from that of verbal thinking. This type of thinking is necessary in order to create an acticept, and this becomes possible by gaining a low-rank acticept based on the logic of perception. From this low-rank acticept, image, explanation, and data are translated into our own practice, and we are able to realize each action. It is necessary to translate even procedural explanations into a low-rank acticept. These low-rank acticepts themselves continue being refined in such a way as to have wider applications, just as a word becomes precise. Therefore, in gymnastics lessons, it is necessary to pay attention to the originality of human bodily thinking, which is indispensable to movement practice, and furthermore to the individual low-rank acticept when teaching movement. Teachers should be able to transfer the low-rank acticept itself in order to make gymnastics lessons fruitful, not only theoretically but also practically.

Obesity appears to be a major contributing factor for many health problems. Effective treatments for reducing weight gain, other than caloric restriction and exercise, are limited. The consumption of sugars is a major factor in the development of obesity in part by stimulating the transcription factor, carbohydrate response element binding protein (ChREBP), a process that is driven by de novo lipogenesis. Therefore, we hypothesized that inhibiting the action of ChREBP would be a promising strategy for alleviating these diseases. Using ChREBP deficient mice, the effect of a high intake of sucrose on body weight and blood glucose levels were investigated. Unlike wild type mice, ChREBP deficient mice did not gain much weight and their blood glucose and cholesterol levels remained relatively constant. In tracing it’s cause, we found that the levels of expression of sucrase, an enzyme that digests sucrose, and both Glut2 and Glut5, a transporter of glucose and fructose, were not induced by feeding a high sucrose diet in the small intestine of ChREBP deficient mice. Our findings suggest that the inhibition of ChREBP could suppress weight gain even on a high sucrose diet.

ホウレンソウの加熱後の光照射による葉色変化に関する知見を得るため,48品種を用い栽培条件を変え,外観形質および品質成分について調査を行った.伸長性,Brix糖度,総ビタミンC含量について大きな品種間差異があったが,これらの形質と葉色との間には密接な関係は見られなかった.葉色とクロロフィル含量とはすべてではないが複数の栽培条件で有意な正の相関が見られた.品種の葉色は異なる栽培条件においても安定しており,栽培条件による葉色の変動は少なかった.寒締め栽培では秋播きよりも葉色が濃くなったが,クロロフィル含量には有意差がなく,葉は有意に厚くなったため,濃さは葉の厚みによる単位面積当たりのクロロフィル含量の増加と推察された.加熱・光照射後の葉色と生鮮葉の葉色との関係を調査したところ有意な正の相関が見られた.生鮮葉,加熱・光照射下ともに明度および彩度が低く,色相角度が大きい品種を官能で葉色が濃いと評価することが多く,生鮮葉で濃い品種は加熱・光照射下においても濃いと評価された.生鮮時に葉色が濃い品種を選択することで加熱後も良好な葉色を保持することが可能である.寒締めによりBrix糖度,総ビタミンC含量は増加したことから,寒締め栽培により葉色が濃くかつ内容成分が優れるホウレンソウを得ることが可能である.

To clarify the mechanism of how a crowd accident occurs, phenomena in a high-density crowd accumulation were analyzed based on videos of extra-high-density crowd accumulation, crowd disaster investigation committee's reports and observation of high-density crowd phenomena of large-scale events. When the crowd density reaches 8 persons per square meter or so, crowd shock waves of 20 cm to 60 cm will occur due to the fluctuating density and pressure distribution in the crowd. When the density reaches 10 persons per square meter or more, people feel a surge of panic because of a fear of being crushed, possibility of crowd disaster will be higher with complicated critical crowd shock waves.
