This paper gives the experimental results obtained with a two-stroke cycle single-cylinder research engine using an electrically heated combustion chamber to simulate the combustion chamber of a low-heat-rejection(LHR) DI diesel engine with the M-combustion system. In this report, the experiment was performed to investigate the influences of combustion chamber surface temperature and swirl ratio on the combustion of a LHR DI diesel engine with the M-conbustion system. It is found that the combustion of fuel deposited on the surface is greatly affected by the combustion chamber surface temperature, and the diesel combustion is controlled by the swirl and the surface temperature of the combustion chamber.

Offshore wind power plants has gotten attention worldwide as one of key technology for future energy mix. Recent Japanese policy also promotes offshore wind power plants (OWPPS) on costal waters in the Sea of Japan. On the other hand, those areas are known by notorious winter lightning with upward lightning and large electric charge, that has caused catastrophic damages to onshore wind turbines in past. It is therefore needed stronger lightning risk management for offshore wind turbines than that for onshore. The authors proposed a lightning protection method using an independent lightning tower (ILT) and have stored experience by numerical calculations and small-scale model experiments. However, there still remain several uncertainties in the given data. This paper proposes a new method on CBA (cost-benefit analysis) regarding with the uncertainty. In the concrete, a probability density function, e.g. Gauss Function, is superimposed on quasi-quantitative data with several uncertainty given by experiment tests, which enable optimization of net benefit and objective and quantitative decision making for appropriate risk management even under uncertainty.

Since airborne transmission has been considered as a possible infection route for the novel coronavirus in addition to contact and droplet infection routes, ventilation is an important measure against airborne route. In this paper, we describe the history of setting regulatory standard values and the interpretation of CO2 concentration as a measure against infectious diseases. Although the standard value of 1,000 ppm is not intended originally for infection control, it is practically useful as a guide value for potential infection risk management.

In preparing presentations in English, graduate students must concern themselves first with the logic behind their arguments and then with their English. Without good logic, ones argument will be neither understood nor accepted. We shall discuss ways in which we make a presentation in English logical and thereby understandable. This paper presents a case study to illustrate how a UEC graduate student struggled to prepare a presentation in English.

During infancy, children gradually become able to manipulate utensils in accordance with the development of motor and cognitive abilities. Previous studies on the development of eating skills have mainly examined infants and preschoolers. However, even after preschool age, eating skills continue to develop and become more refined and sophisticated with age. This study examined the development of eating skills after early childhood self-feeding ability had been acquired. Eleven 5-year-old children and sixteen adults were observed while eating curry and rice with spoons. The young children’s spoon manipulations were found to be somewhat simple. For example, food was picked up with a spoon and brought to their mouths in a single action. In contrast, the spoon manipulations of the adults were more complex and complicated. They first gathered the curry and rice into one area and then adjusted the amount and shape for easier intake. The children were frequently observed lifting the plate and sliding the food directly into their mouths. This behavior was never seen in the adult subjects. The adults often performed more refined, coordinated movements using their right and left hands and fingers (e.g., lifting or turning a dish with one’s left hand to more easily pick up rice using a spoon in one’s right hand). The results suggested that self-feeding skills using a spoon are acquired up to the end of preschool age; however, after this period of time, spoon manipulation becomes more multi-functional with age.

近年,山地では環境保全に関心が集まっているが,本研究では,中国雲南省シャングリラ県の村落を対象に,山地の移動牧畜での家畜群の季節移動経路や日帰り放牧の範囲を把握することで,放牧地内部での負荷の分布状況を明らかにした.放牧負荷は,垂直的な環境変化に応じた季節移動により分散傾向にあり,過度の負荷が生じている部分はほとんどみられなかったが,一部の幹線道路沿いに負荷が集中する傾向もみられた.一方で県全体の放牧地に関する統計資料の分析からは,高山草原の希薄な放牧利用に対して標高が低い放牧地への負荷の偏りが推測された.山地の過放牧対策は,これら標高による負荷の偏りや移動牧畜での放牧地利用による負荷の偏りにも配慮する必要がある.その場合,生産様式の理解を目的とした垂直性の概念に基づく移動牧畜の分析だけではさまざまなスケールで生じる負荷の偏りを把握することは難しいため,水平的な家畜群の移動や分布状況も踏まえた負荷分布の把握が求められる.

This study evaluated the clinical characteristics of mental health of child and adolescent psychiatric patients during temporary school closure throughout the coronavirus 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic in Japan using the Questionnaire - Children with Difficulties (QCD) and other useful psychological rating scales. The participants were those who visited the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Kohnodai Hospital. From those 1,463 participants, case and control groups were selected: 92 patients who visited the hospital during the temporary school closure from March 2020 to May 2020 (case group) and randomly sampled sex- and age-matched 92 patients during the pre-COVID period from April 2017 to March 2020 (control group). QCD is a parent-assessed questionnaire designed to evaluate the difficulties of children along the course of a day, right from waking up in the morning to retiring to bed at night. Lower scores indicate stronger difficulties. QCD scores were compared between the two groups in each of the following age groups: elementary school (6-12 years of age) and junior high school (12-15 years of age). In elementary school students, scores "during school" of QCD indicating functioning or disabilities during school hours were 3.31 ± 2.52 and 4.52 ± 2.33 in case group and control group, respectively (p < 0.05). In junior high school students, scores "Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder Rating Scale (ADHD-RS)" indicating ADHD symptoms were 16.78 ± 12.69 and 11.80 ± 10.40 in case group and control group, respectively (p < 0.05). The findings suggest that the closure of schools due to the pandemic might worsen difficulties among elementary school patients, and hyperactivity and impulsivity might increase among junior high school patients. The long-term impact of stress caused by school closure on child and adolescent psychiatric patients needs to be investigated in the future.

Several types of osteotomy have been performed for correction of mandibular prognathism, retrognathia and assymmetry.The injury of the inferior alvolar nerve as a complication were evaluated in 35 patients after the surgery.1. Anesthesia, hypesthesia and paresthesia of the lip and mental area were observed in all of the patients (35 cases) in early stage after the operation.2. 70.8% of the patients who were treated with sagittal splitting osteotomy were recognized as S4 (Highet's standards) within a year.3. The Average of the sensory nerve conduction velocity (S.C.V.) of normal was approximately 60m/sec.Nerve action potential could not be recorded in early stage and gradually returned to normal S.C.V.from 20 weeks after the surgery.4. Complete return of the sensation was recognized within 40 weeks after the operation which mandible were moved less than 10mm.5. There is no difference of return of sensation between circumferencial wiring and bone screw fixation after sagittal splitting osteotomy.

盤菌類寄生性のStephanoma strigosum とMycogone cervina のテレオモルフ,Hypomyces stephanomatis とH. cervinigenus を日本新産として報告した.同定は分子系統学的手法により確認した.H. cervinigenus の子嚢胞子を培地上で発芽させ,Mycogone アナモルフを初めて確認した.

An actively controlled anti-rolling system has been developed with a view of reducing the rolling motion of ship. It is a new type of anti-rolling systems to replace the conventional systems, such as anti-rolling tank and fin stabilizer, and is of hybrid type combining the pendulum-base passive type with active type driven by relatively small electric motors. This system is composed of a moving weight oscillating on rail shaped in circular arc, carrying the driving motors and reduction gears, and the passive, compact mechanism is realized. The driving force to control the movement of the moving weight is imparted from the electric motors through reduction gears connected to a lack and pinion mechanism. The actual system of a moving weight of 100 tons has been applied to oceanographic research vessel “MIRAI” (8672 GT.) for practical use. Prior to service at open sea areas, the control system has been designed based on the identified parameters of ship motion characteristics obtained by results of forced rolling oscillation test using anti-rolling system in the calm sea. Control performance and dynamic behavior have been analyzed by recorded data of ship motion and displacement of moving weight at open sea areas. It has been revealed that the system operated following the control law and provided performance to be aimed in design.

本研究課題では,設計マージンのリラックス化,ならびに総合的なVLSIの高性能化・高歩留り化を実現する新概念VLSI設計技術の構築を目的とし,不揮発性記憶素子とシリコン集積回路を組み合わせることで製造後および動作中に集積回路の特性を調整できるPVTバラつきフリー回路方式,ならびに上述したバラつきを十分小さくする回路パラメータ自動調整技術に関する研究を行った.

近年、障害のある人の好みを客観的に評価し、支援計画に活用することの重要性が指摘されている。そのための方法論として、応用行動分析学にもとづいた研究が海外では多くされている一方で、わが国においては、支援実践としての報告も多くない。本研究では、好みのアセスメントに関する海外の先行研究を概観して方法論の整理を行うとともに、直近5年間にわが国で発表された実践研究61編について、本人の好みの活用を観点として分析し、わが国における好みを活用した支援のあり方について検討を行った。その結果、好みを支援に活用している論文は半数以下であり、好みについて明確に記述した論文が少ないことが明らかとなった。その要因については、方法論自体の問題とともに、実践現場での知識不足や認知度の低さなどが考えられた。今後は支援手続きを工夫することで好みを活用していくことと、支援の場で活用できる簡易的なアセスメントの開発が、課題として検討された。
