本研究は, ラットを去勢し, 睾丸から分泌される男性ホルモンの影響を除外した条件下において, 杜仲樹皮エキスの投与がアナボリックに及ぼす影響について非運動時と運動時を比較検討することを目的とした.実験は32匹, 4週齢Wistar系雄ラットに去勢手術を実施し, 杜仲樹皮エキス投与非運動群 (n=8) , 杜仲樹皮エキス投与運動群 (n=8) , 対照非運動群 (n=8) , 対照運動群 (n=8) の4群に分類した.杜仲樹皮エキスの投与は1g/kg体重の割合で1日1回, 週7回, 4週間にわたって経口投与した.対照群には同じ方法で蒸留水を投与した.運動負荷は, 小動物用トレッドミルを用い, 20m/minのスピードからスタートし, 1週間毎に10m/minのスピードを増加させ, 1日30分間, 4週間にわたって休まずに強制トレッドミル走行を実施した3結果は次のようであった.1.副腎比重量において, 杜仲樹皮エキス投与非運動群は, 対照非運動群に比し有意な高値 (p<0.001) を示した.また, 杜仲樹皮エキス投与運動群は, 対照運動群および杜仲樹皮エキス投与非運動群に比し有意な高値 (いずれもp<0.001) を示した.2.腎臓比重量において, 杜仲樹皮エキス投与非運動群は, 対照非運動群に比し有意 (p<0.001) に増大した.また, 杜仲樹皮エキス投与運動群は対照運動群に比し, 増加傾向が見られたが, 有意な差は認められなかった.3.肛門挙筋比重量において, 杜仲樹皮エキス投与非運動群は, 対照非運動群に比し有意な (p<0.001) 高値を示した.杜仲樹皮エキス投与運動群は対照運動群に比し有意な (p<0.001) 高値を示した.4.運動負荷終了後の24時間尿中17-KSは, 杜仲樹皮エキス投与非運動群が対照非運動群, 杜仲樹皮エキス投与運動群の2群に比しそれぞれ有意な高値 (いずれもp<0.001) を示した.杜仲樹皮エキス投与運動群は対照運動群に比し有意な高値 (p<0.01) を示した.また, 対照非運動群は対照運動群に対し, 有意な高値 (p<0.001) を示した.5.各群の尿中総窒素は, 杜仲樹皮エキス投与非運動群が対照非運動群, 杜仲樹皮エキス投与運動群の2群に比しそれぞれ有意な低値 (p<0.01, p<0.05) を示した.杜仲樹皮エキス投与運動群は対照運動群に比し, 有意な低値 (p<0.05) を示した.以上の結果から杜仲樹皮エキス投与は, 去勢されたラットの副腎重量の有意な増加をもたらし, 副腎皮質網状層のアンドロゲンの分泌を亢進させ, タンパク同化作用を促進させることが示唆された.また, 運動負荷における副腎皮質網状層の適応能力を増していることが示唆された.

Cardiovascular complications are the main cause of morbidity and mortality in peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is a major predictor of the development of cardiovascular events. This study aimed to identify risk factors that contribute to the development of LVH and to determine their cutoffs in patients on maintenance peritoneal dialysis.In this cross sectional study we evaluated the association of 23 variables including age, PD vintage, ultrafiltration, urine volume, residual renal function, mean daily SBP, mean daily DBP, fasting glucose, HbA1c, peritoneal glucose load index (PGLI), fluid overload (FO), plasma brain natriuretic peptide (BNP), plasma hsCRP and IL-6, serum albumin, white blood cell (WBC) count, hemoglobin, hematocrit, triglycerides, LDL-C (low density lipoprotein cholesterol), HDL-C (high density lipoprotein cholesterol), and PTH with LVH in 38 stable patients on maintenance PD ≥ 24 months.LVH was detected in 57.9% of patients. Logistic regression and receiver operating characteristics (ROC) analysis revealed that HbA1c, PGLI, FO, plasma BNP, hsCRP and IL-6 seem to be possible predictors of LVH. The cutoffs associated with the presence of LVH were: 7.5%, 3.2 g/kg/day, 1.7 L, 330 pg/mL, 7.5 mg/dL and 3.3 pg/mL for HbA1c, PGLI, FO, plasma BNP, hsCRP and IL-6, respectively (sensitivity 72.8 to 81.8% and specificity 75.0 to 93.8%).The results suggest that efforts should be made to reduce the peritoneal glucose load (PGL), to improve the hydration status, and to attenuate the inflammatory process in order to reduce the risk of the development of LVH among PD patients.

The Itoigawa-Shizuoka Tectonic Line (ISTL) in central Japan is a complex 150km-long fault system consisting of north-trending east-dipping reverse, northwest-trending left-lateral strike-slip, and north-trending west-dipping reverse faults. To help to resolve segmentation and to estimate the magnitude of future shocks on the ISTL, we conducted four trench excavations across the Hakushu fault, the Shimotsuburai fault, and the Ichinose fault group in the southern part of the ISTL, where no paleoseismological data for the surface faulting had been available. On the trench walls at the Hakushu fault, we found the evidence for the most recent surface-rupturing event occurring sometime between 6, 650 and 7, 000cal. y. B. P. (BC 4700-BC 5050) with approximately one meter of coseismic slip. On the Shimotsuburai fault, we exposed evidence for three events at two trench sites. The low-angle thrust faults and associated sediments record the most recent and the penultimate events occurring between 1, 370 and 2, 500cal. y. B. P. (AD 580-BC 550), and between 7, 940 and 8, 430cal. y. B. P. (BC 5990-BC 6480), respectively. Vertically offset terrace gravels indicate the dip-slip rate of the Shimotsuburai fault to be about 0.5mm/yr during the past 22, 000 years. We also found evidence for the most recent two surface-faulting events on the scarp of the frontal fault of the Ichinose fault group. The most recent event, which accompanied a coseismic slip of 1.8-2.2m, is inferred to have occurred sometime between 3, 990 and 6, 270cal. y. B. P. (BC 2040-BC 4320). The penultimate event, which appears to have a coseismic slip of 2.1-3.0m, is constrained to have occurred between 9, 520cal. y. B. P. (BC 7570) and 10, 930y. B. P. The recurrence time and slip rate are roughly estimated as 5, 000 years and 0.5mm/yr, respectively. Regarding the long elapsed time since the most recent events, the Hakushu fault and the Ichinose fault group have accumulated enough strain to produce surface-rupturing earthquakes today. Based on such long recurrence times and lower slip rates on the southern ISTL relative to the central ISTL, we suggest that multiple segment ruptures of the central and southern ISTL are unlikely to have occurred during the past 10, 000years. However, partial synchronization of rupture timings for the central and southern ISTL might have occurred around 7, 000y. B. P. though. To evaluate the fault activity in the southern ISTL more precisely and to consider fault interaction with central ISTL, we still need to investigate other fault strands of the southern ISTL, and to gather more paleoseismic evidence.

Co-seismic faulting activity during the last three hundred thousands years of the Ichinose fault group, in the southern part of the 150km long Itoigawa-Shizuoka Tectonic Line active fault system, central Japan, was appraised. The Ichinose fault group consists of the mainly two distinct arcuate reverse fault traces bulged toward the east (frontal) and west (behind) directions. We conducted a trench excavation at the Nakano site across the behind fault, where the detailed geological and chronological information for the last ten thousands years was absent. The excavation resulted in evidences for the latest, at least two surface-rupturing events. The events were present sometimes between 665 and 1275 cal.y.B.P. and between 3355 and 4810 cal.y.B.P. The timing of the penultimate event is coincident with the previously estimated latest event on the frontal fault (3, 990-6, 270 cal.y.B.P.). The recurrence time and slip rate between these two events is approximately estimated as 3, 200 years and 0.9-1.8mm/yr in dip-slip, respectively. In comparison with a slip rate estimated from the geomorphological characteristics, the dip-slip rate from our excavation result is coincident well.A reappraisal of geomorphological reference deposits and a result of the seismic investigation study suggest that the total deformation rate of the Ichinose fault group is 3.5-3.7mm/yr (possibly up to 5.0mm/yr) and it becomes to increase in recent several ten thousands years. While the deformation rate suggests that the co-seismic faulting activity at the Ichinose fault group as a whole is ranked as the one of most active faults in Japan, however, it is smaller than that of 6.3-8.3mm/yr estimated previously from the gravimetric and numerical analyses.

The development of a dengue vaccine is a major priority. Several researchers are using Asian 1 and Asian 2 genotypes as vaccine candidates to develop a vaccine for dengue type 2 virus (DENV-2). However, in this study, we constructed a recombinant plasmid-based prM-E gene from the DENV-2 Cosmopolitan genotype as a dengue DNA vaccine candidate. The protein expression levels of recombinant plasmids in CHO cell lines were analyzed using an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay, western blotting, and sucrose gradients. After immunizing ddY mice three times, DNA vaccine doses of 25 and 100 µg induced humoral immune responses. There was no difference in the neutralizing antibody titer (focus reduction neutralization test 50%) of mice immunized with 25 and 100 µg DNA vaccine doses. A challenge test using 3 × 105 FFU DENV-2 showed that immunized mice could raise anamnestic neutralizing antibody responses at day 4 and 8 post-challenge. An immunogenicity test with BALB/c mice showed that their antibody neutralization titers were lower than those of ddY mice. In addition, the antibodies produced after immunization and challenge test could also neutralize DENV-2 Asian 2 genotype (NGC strain). Thus, the DENV-2 Cosmopolitan genotype may be a DENV-2 vaccine candidate.

This study reports the epidemiological characteristics of hospitalized cases of influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 infection analyzed on the basis of surveillance data collected from July 24, 2009, the date on which the hospital-based surveillance of influenza cases was implemented in Japan, to September 5, 2010. During the study period, 13,581 confirmed cases were reported. Among those cases with information regarding the reason for hospitalization, 39% were admitted to hospitals for non-therapeutic purposes such as medical observation and laboratory testing. The overall hospitalization rate was 5.8 cases per 100,000 population when cases hospitalized for non-therapeutic purposes were excluded. While those aged under 20 years accounted for over 85% of hospitalized cases, the largest proportion of fatal cases was observed in those aged over 65 years. The overall case fatality rate for all hospitalized cases was 1.5%. The year-round surveillance for hospitalized influenza-like illness cases was launched in 2011, and it was expected that this surveillance system could add value by monitoring changes in the epidemiological characteristics of hospitalized cases of seasonal influenza.

A parallel link mechanism with six degrees of freedom using electrohydraulic servo cylinders has large rigidity and support power. This feature is widely used for a driving device with multi degrees of freedom that has a heavy load or needs a large driving force. In this research, basic characteristics are revealed by experiment and theory. In the 1st report, the characteristics of the hydraulic servo system was considered, and a detailed mathematical model was made. A transfer function was obtained by linear approximation, and the frequency response was presented. In the 2nd report, nonlinear simulation was executed based on the detailed mathematical model. The frequency response obtained from the simulation agreed well with the experimental result. The appearance of fluctuation in each part was presented, and the influence of nonlinear characteristics was clarified. From this research, the dynamic characteristics between the input and output of one link that comprises a parallel link mechanism were clarified. However, the parallel link mechanism comprises a so-called interaction system where the displacement of one link influences those of other links through the end effector. In this report, the interaction that each link receives from one link is examined by experiment and nonlinear simulation. The appearance of interaction is presented when the input is a rectangular wave or sinusoidal wave. The frequency response of the interaction that each link receives is presented. It is clarified that the amplitude of the reference value for a link and the load mass has a large influence on the frequency response of interaction. It is also presented that Coulomb friction has a big influence on the result.

I am a team doctor of three competition groups including professional cycling team for ten years. The most troublesome issue as a sports doctor is the problem about doping. I cope thanks to a mobile telephone and an e-mail regardless of place and time, but introduce some examples because I still experience many doping “near miss” cases. In addition, there are problems in road competition spots as follows; 1) There are few team doctors. I am pressed by the consultation from plural teams, 2) An unexperienced doctor of the doping knowledge often prescribes prohibited drugs, 3) There are problems with no understanding of the medicine made in foreign countries, Chinese medicine, a generic drug, and supplements which obtained on the internet. I hope that anti-doping education in faculty of pharmaceutical sciences is made mandatory, sports pharmacists taken to the sports spot along increase, and a system and a database to teach local doctors and players quickly will be achieved in future.

スギナの胞子の発芽および前葉体の形成条件を培養条件下で検討した。その結果, MS寒天培地, 明条件下では, 胞子置床後約30日で前葉体が, 約60日で栄養茎がそれぞれ形成された。続いて, スギナの胞子の発芽および前葉体の形成に及ぼす温度条件, 培地の酸性度, 酸素要求性および土壌水分条件等の環境条件の影響についてMS寒天培地, 土壌培地等を用いて検討した。スギナ胞子の発芽可能温度域は15~30℃, 最適温度は20℃であった。培地の酸性度については, 寒天培地の場合はpH 4.5~6.5の範囲で発芽が認められ (最適値はpH 5.7), 土壌培地の場合は, pH 5.3~7.2の範囲で良好な発芽後の分裂伸長が認められた。また, 窒素封入条件でも発芽し, 発芽に際して酸素要求性は低かった。胞子の発芽および前葉体の形成に関しては, 土壌水分の影響が大きく, pF 2.7以下の条件で発芽可能, pF 2.0以下の条件で前葉体形成が認められ, 土壌水分が高いことが必要であることが明らかになった。

本研究では、大量で複雑な心理データを見やすくすることを目的とする。これまで、Webカウンセリングシステムの構築を行ってきている.その中でカウンセラーの支援として,カウンセリング履歴データを分かりやすく提示することが有用な支援機能となりうると判断した.また,個人のパーソナリティに関する情報もカウンセリングに役立つ情報であり,各種性格検査の結果を提示することも有用な支援機能と考えられる.しかし,これらのデータを単に数字の羅列のような形式で提示しただけでは,クライアントの特徴・状況を即座にカウンセラーが抽出することは非常に困難である.そこで,このような心理データを3Dグラフで可視化する手法を提案した.3Dグラフ表示はProcessingプロジェクトを用いて螺旋形状の表示を実現している.本3D螺旋表示をWebカウンセリング時の相談内容に関するデータ,各種性格検査(GHQ28,S−H式レジリエンス,内田クレペリン検査)のデータを応用した.

We successfully fabricated L21-ordered Mn2VAl Heusler thin films and evaluated their ferrimagnetic properties by soft x-ray magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD). The buffer layers and annealing temperatures were varied to prepare the Mn2VAl films. We discovered that Mn2VAl could be ordered in an L21 phase well when it was deposited directly onto an MgO (001) single crystalline substrate. The maximum values of L21 and B2 long-range order parameters we obtained were about 0.5 for both phases for samples without a buffer layer, when substrates were heated at 500°C or 600°C. The saturation magnetization (Ms) for these samples was roughly 150 emu/cc. This is rather small compared to that expected from the ideal Slater-Pauling behavior, which might be due to the suppressed degree of L21 or B2 ordering. Ferrimagnetism in the Mn2VAl, ferrimagnetic coupling between Mn and V moments was clearly observed by using the XMCD technique in well-ordered L21-Mn2VAl film as has been predicted in theoretical investigations.

Virtual reality (VR) technology can be used to simulate environments of historical sites in virtual spaces. In fact, many VR reproductions of historical sites have already been studied and developed. For users, the quality of the visual experience largely determines the authenticity of a VR space. However, when developing a VR space, it is difficult and time-consuming to significantly improve visual quality while maintaining real-time rendering speed, which is the primary requirement of an effective user interface. For this reason, there have been few genuinely photorealistic VR spaces created for historical sites. However, this has begun to change due to the arrival of next-generation three-dimensional (3D) game engines. In this paper, we report on our recent development of photorealistic VR spaces for historical Kyoto sites created using the UDK 3D Game Engine. Specifically, we describe our VR reproduction of Reizei-ke, which consists of the Japanese court noble residence (kuge-yashiki), and Funehoko-cho, which is an important site for Japan's Gion Festival. Through the fabrication of these VR spaces, we could also extract a workflow that allows us to realize photorealistic and read-time VR contents of other cultural assets based on the abovementioned next-generation 3D game engine.

ミッションプログラム医療安全研究グループにおいては, 日々の診療で膨大に発生する各種の診療情報から, 情報処理技術の適用により医学的知見を抽出し, その知識を国内で共有化する為の汎用的な手法について研究を行っている. 研究にあたっては, 倫理面に配慮された適切な情報収集・管理手法によって得られた実際の診療情報を, 医学と工学, それぞれの専門家が共同で体系化することにより, 臨床的に有用な知見を得るにいたっている. これらの医学的成果及びその普及手段としての技術的成果を併せて報告する.

We have constructed a general framework for integrating application programs with control through a local Web browser. This method is based on a simple inter-process message function from an external process to application programs. Commands to a target program areprepared in a script file, which is parsed by a message dispatcher program. When it is used as ahelper application to a Web browser, these messages will be sent from the browser by clicking a hyper-link in a Web document. Our framework also supports pluggable extension-modules for application programs by means of dynamic linking. A prototype system is implemented on our molecular structure-viewer program, MOSBY. It successfully featured a function to load an extension-module required for the docking study of molecular fragments from a Web page. Our simple framework facilitates the concise configuration of Web softwares without complicated knowledge on network computation and security issues. It is also applicable for a wide range of network computations processing private data using a Web browser.

Wide-ranging polymeric materials are commonly used in spacecraft to meet numerous system design requirements. The tolerance of such polymeric materials against the space environment, e.g. vacuum, ultraviolet rays, radiation, atomic oxygen, etc. must be evaluated, because this environment is a known threat for materials, especially polymers. JAXA has been striving to evaluate the tolerance of polymeric materials in the space environment through both ground tests and space exposure experiments, which allows engineers in the space industry to obtain material data detailing tolerance against the space environment. This article introduces the space environment and its effect on polymeric materials, examples of damage to materials in orbit, and the evaluation capabilities for polymeric materials to be used in space at the Tsukuba Space Center, JAXA.

The conventional evacuating system : combination of oil diffusion pump, booster pump and mechanical rotary pump, has serious faults in the case of pumping the chemically unstable matter. For instance, in the degassing stage of the molecular distillation plant, the gas is composed of air, volatile matter, water vapor and mist of unstable compound. These components are decomposed or polymerized in a evacuating system, and damage the normal opperation of pumps, especially in oil rotary pump. This is caused by less circulation of oil, and moving parts would be damaged.To conquer this difficulty, we tried to select the new pump composion ; diffusion-booster, steam ejector and water jet. This system has not any moving parts, so we can avoid adove difficulty. The performances of these pumps are as follows : Diffusion booster : Pumping speed (800900 l/sec at 10-310-2 mmHg) Critial back pressure (57mmHg) Steam ejector : Pumping speed (20 l/sec at 1 mmHg), Back pressure (40 mmHg) Water jet : Pumping speed (0. 95 l/sec at 5 mmHg), Back pressure (atmosphere).The overall performance shows very satisfactory result, and this system is now under continious operation for over a year.

We report a case of pustulotic arthro-osteitis. Arthro-osteitis is a rare condition in palmoplantar pustulosis (PPP). A 60-year-old woman was admitted to our hospital with persistent low back pain and limitation of the lumbar flexion and extension. Diagnosed with PPP, surgical treatment by anterior spinal fusion was performed. She recovered well, and bone union is good today.
