Ninja is said to be the ancient warrior originated in Japan. Nowadays its transnational emerging has been seen globally, even in Sokoto, northern Nigeria where I have conducted field research for Nollywood kungfu film since 2001. In this article, I trace some transnational process of ninja representation outside Japan and consider ways to transform global image into a localized ninja/ninjoji of Sokoto.

日本人は英語の「冠詞」に関して,世界でも類を見ないくらい低い運用能力をもつ。「冠詞」(特に定冠詞)の誤用によって精緻な情報発信ができない日本人研究者も目立つ。言葉は使いやすい方向に進化する。冠詞のなかったフィンランド語では「定冠詞」が生まれつつある。本研究では,「定冠詞」が生まれつつあるフィンランドで人々がなぜそれを使うようになってきたか,どうやって定冠詞の感覚を習得したか等を定性調査する。定冠詞感覚は言語により多少のズレがあるかもしれない。しかし,定冠詞感覚を得た先人として彼らの例を大いに参考にし,これらの知見から英語の「定冠詞」を直感的に使えるようになるトレーニング法を開発していく。

This paper presents experimental and numerical results on the unstable flow along the surface of a circular cylinder in the Coanda effect. The unstable phenomenon depends on the nominal Reynolds number Re*=Uj√ (1/4) hD/ν and the nozzle height of the jet, h. In this paper, the changing phenomenon of two-dimensional jet direction is found numerically and the results are compared with the experimental ones. The numerical calculation is carried out by using the finite-difference method for the conditions of unstable phenomenon, that is, 1.5×104≤Re*≤2.5×104 and 0.100≤h/D≤0.200. Numerical results agree well with experimental results qualitatively. Also, it is found that the unstable phenomenon is sensitive to both Re* and h/D in the vicinity of h/D=0.10. Furthermore, a hysteresis phenomenon of jet direction by Re* was observed.

VR 空間内での擬似感覚は,VRChat 等の VR プラットフォームの普及により身近なものとなり近年注目を浴びつつある.本研究では落下感覚に焦点を当て,HMD 利用経験の有無によって VR 空間にて感じる落下感覚に差が生まれるのかを検証するため,継続的に HMD を利用したことのない 31 名と,継続的に HMD を利用している 31 名を対象として実験を行った.その結果,HMD 利用経験の有無により感覚の回答に差があることが明らかとなった.近年,VR プラットフォームでの実験が被験者の集めやすさから注目されているが,本研究によって HMD 利用経験の有無により回答が異なることが示されたことから,そのような擬似感覚に関する実験の手法について再検討の必要性が示唆されたといえる.

血栓性微小血管障害 (thrombotic microangiopathy;TMA) は細小動脈を主体とする微小血管内皮障害に基づく虚血性, 出血性の臓器障害である.造血幹細胞移植の現場において, しばしば急性GVHDとTMAは混同され, 鑑別が困難な場合も少なくない.とくに近年, 消化管TMAという概念が導入されて以来, いっそう両者の境界は混沌としている.これは急性GVHDの診断基準が, TMAの存在を抜きにして設定されていることと, TMAの診断基準が明確でないことが影響しているものと考えられる. TMAの危険因子として, FK 506などの免疫抑制剤, 非血縁者間移植, HLA不適合血縁者間移植, ABO不適合移植, VODがあげられる.完成されたTMAの治療は困難であるので, 大腸生検などにより早期にTMAの存在を認識し, 過度の免疫抑制を控えることが移植成績の向上につながると考えられる.

Twelve specimens (71.5–89.9 mm standard length) of the genus Lutjanus (Lutjanidae), collected from Ishigaki-jima Island, Ryukyu Archipelago, southern Japan, were identified as Lutjanus biguttatus (Valenciennes in Cuvier and Valenciennes, 1830), being characterized by the following combination of characters: dorsal fin XI, 12; anal fin III, 8; pectoral rays 15–16; body depth 3.5–3.8 in standard length; preorbital depth 10.8– 16.3 in head length; tongue smooth, without patch of fine granular teeth; a dark longitudinal band from snout to caudal fin base; and two white spots above the lateral line. Dentition of the premaxilla and dentary, including several canine-like (one being long and curved) and many small conical teeth, is illustrated. The collected specimens were determined to be juveniles, due to their coloration matching that of juveniles previously described, in addition to their small body size. Although the coloration of L. biguttatus is similar to that of L. vitta during the juvenile stage, the latter species is distinguished by greater body and preorbital depths. The specimens of the former had been caught in a significantly localized area (in ca. 4 m depth) over several days, indicating the likelihood of their having been schooling, as observed in previous studies of the species. Lutjanus biguttatus is distributed in the Indo-western Pacific, from the Maldives to the Solomon Islands, but had not previously been recorded from Japanese waters. The new standard Japanese name “Futahoshi-fuedai”, given in reference to the two white spots above the lateral line in the collected specimens, is proposed.

The graduate schools in Japan have been expanding since 1990's. In this paper, we focused on the doctoral courses of humanities & social sciences which have been limited in research and analysis as compared with natural sciences and analyzed the employment qualifications in the academic market. To put it concretely, we conducted quantitative analysis of application qualifications by using the data of JREC-IN (Japan Research Career Information Network). Through this analysis, we 1) analyzed the employment situation of doctoral students in humanities & social sciences, 2) investigated the qualifications and employability expected in the academic market, and 3) extracted the prospective problems of the doctoral education in humanities & social sciences.

本稿は,法律家の立場から輸血拒否患者に対する診療拒否の問題点を提起するものである。無断輸血訴訟最高裁判決( 2000年) 以降,患者の意思尊重とは逆行するケースがあることが懸念される。いわゆる相対的無輸血の方針の名の下に,輸血同意書への署名がなければ,輸血拒否患者の診療自体を一律に避ける病院がある。こうした対応は,患者の自己決定権を侵害する上,医師法の根拠たる憲法25条の生存権保障の趣旨に反し,応招義務違反となる可能性が高い。令和元年12月25日付で発出された厚生労働省通知の指針からすれば,診療時間内に病状の深刻な輸血拒否患者から診療を求められた場合に診療拒否が正当化されるのは,事実上診療が不可能といえる場合に限られる。医師は診療を拒否する代わりにどのような対応をすべきか,併せて提言する。

We herein report a 71-year-old woman presented with a fever, arthralgia, general malaise and leg muscle stiffness following administration of the COVID-19 mRNA vaccine (Comirnaty, Pfizer-BioNTech). Laboratory findings showed an elevated C-reactive protein level and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. In addition, Gallium-67 scintigraphy demonstrated an increased uptake in multiple joints. Typing of HLA revealed the presence of the DRB1*0404/*0803 allele. These findings met the diagnostic criteria for polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR), and when we started steroid treatment, her symptoms improved rapidly. This patient developed PMR after receiving a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine (Comirnaty, Pfizer-BioNTech). This case is considered to be valuable, as the HLA-DRB1 allele was also confirmed.

This paper proposes the following methods to search VOCALOID creators who publish music videos in Niconico video hosting service. For VOCALOID creator search, the user can utilize three clues: VOCALOID character name, music genre, and impressions. We defined the music genre by extending generic digital music genre with considering social tags annotated on VOCALOID music videos. We also implemented SVM-based music impression estimator utilizing viewer comments being over 0.8 points in F-values. We compared the proposal with three comparison methods in 12 search tasks and clarified the effectiveness of music genres and impressions.

公園は誰もがくつろげる空間でなければならないはずである。しかし、都市公園への指定管理者制度等の導入が可能になり、都市公園の商業化が進み、公の役割が軽んじられつつある。本研究では、大阪城公園を例に、大規模な都市公園の現状を調べた。その結果、指定管理者制度を導入してからの3年の間に、多数の商業施設が公園内に建設されたこと、その前に約1,200本の樹木が伐採されたこと、憩いの場としての公園の機能が低下したこと、行政・指定管理者・市民の間の話し合いの場が無いこと、大阪市にとって収支は大幅な黒字になったが、指定管理者制度を導入していなくても全国的な訪日外国人数の増加により黒字になっていたと考えられること等が分かった。 これらを踏まえて、大規模都市公園の運用・あり方に対し3つの提言を行った:指定管理者制度等を導入し民間管理にするのであれば、少なくとも行政と管理者と住民との間の話し合いの場を設け妥協点を探るべきである、都市公園の商業化が果たして住民のためになるのかを考え直すべき時期に来ている、都市公園を公園として守るには住民自身が都市公園の問題に関心をもち行政をチェックする必要がある。

政策の評価を行うに当たっては、基本的な原単位の数値が確定されている必要がある。生命価値はその最たるものであり、規制評価が政策評価の中で、主要なものとされているにもかかわらず、十分な研究蓄積に乏しい。本論文では、リスク工学の考えも応用し、第1に、死亡事故のリスクに対する「統計的生命価値」の推定モデルを探求する。第2に、自動車購入時に、使用者が評価しているリスクから「統計的生命価値」を推定する。第3に、その結果を現在我が国で主として用いられている逸失利益をベースとした人命の価値と比較し、費用便益分析においての取り扱いを考察する。道路建設等の分野における約3, 000万円という従来の人命の価値は、今回分析の結果示された「統計的生命価値」8~10億円や、質問法をベースにした場合の我が国における「統計的生命価値」において妥当な数値との指摘のある数億円と大きな格差がある。もし生命価値が、一桁高い評価を受けることになれば、規制政策等の評価結果が大きく変更される可能性がある。

Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) has rapidly spread and caused epidemics in many countries. During these epidemics, the Japanese government contributed to SARS control by dispatching medical teams. In the present article, the author reviews and discusses the process of control of the SARS outbreak based on experiences in activities to support SARS control in Vietnam and China.Vietnam succeeded in the effective control of SARS for the first time in the world. This was accomplished by complete isolation of patients and implementation of nosocomial infection control from an early stage of epidemic, etc. In China, due to inadequate response in the early stage, nosocomial infection occurred frequently and the disease quickly spread. However, later, effective actions were taken under the strong direction of the government, and the disease was finally put under control. The Japan Medical Team for Disaster Relief dispatched by the government of Japan to Hanoi, Vietnam and Beijing, China offered cooperative activities for the prevention of nosocomial infection and respiratory management. In addition, the Medical Aid Team sent to Guangdong Province in China provided guidance to the local Japanese residents to prevent the infection of SARS and to alleviate anxiety about the disease. In the control of SARS, it is essential to take adequate actions from an early stage in the development of the disease. For this purpose, rather than starting measures for the control of nosocomial infection after the eruption of the disease, it is important to train medical staff on a routine basis, to establish a nosocomial infection control system, and to consolidate basic preventive practices.

Surface mass balance (SMB) is the builder of the Greenland ice sheet and the driver of ice dynamics. Quantifying the past, present and future state of SMB is important to understand the drivers and climatic processes that control SMB, and to both initialize and run ice sheet models which will help clarify sea level rise, and how likely changes in ice sheet extent feedback within the climate system. Regional climate models (RCMs) and climate reanalysis are used to quantify SMB estimates. Although different models have different spatial and temporal biases and may include different processes giving significant uncertainty in both SMB and the ice sheet dynamic response to it, all RCMs show a recent declining trend in SMB from the Greenland ice sheet, driven primarily by enhanced melt rates. Here, we present new simulations of the Greenland ice sheet SMB at 5 km resolution from the RCM HIRHAM5. The RCM is driven by the ERA-Interim reanalysis and the global climate model (GCM) EC-Earth v2.3 to make future projections for climate scenarios RCP8.5 and RCP4.5. Future estimates of SMB are affected by biases in driving global climate models, and feedbacks between the ice sheet surface and the global and regional climate system are neglected, likely resulting in significant underestimates of melt and precipitation over the ice sheet. These challenges will need to be met to better estimate the role climate change will have in modulating the surface mass balance of the Greenland ice sheet.
