The objective of this article is to analyze empirically the impact of mass upper secondary school on the structure of educational opportunity. The proportion of compulsory school graduates going on to upper secondary schools increased from 55% in 1960 to 91% in 1975, on the nationwide average. This rapid expansion, however, has created a wide difference in the level among schools. This school hierarchy structure functions to cool out increasing social demand for higher education and to distribute educational opportunity, appropriately. There is the ploblem, howevers, that school hierarchy structure is influenced by both regional and social class structure. In short, school hierarchy structure is clearly built in social structure. In order to explore the mutual relationship between educational and social structure, I examined the structural changes in the upper secondary school system in terms of percentage distribution of enrollments by social class. It was then clarified how structures of the school hierarchy system were varied in different localities. As for the impacts of mass upper secondary education on the structure of educational opportunity, the following generalization has been derived. 1. Percentage distribution of enrollments by social class is different between general course and vocational course: general course→white-collar class vocational course→farmer, fisher, forester. 2. Forms of school hierarchy system clearly reflect socio-economic structure. 3. On the other hand, the structure of school hierarchy has the function of maintaining the socio-economic structure.

Terrestrial volcanic products and lacustrine deposits of Middle Miocene to Pliocene age are widely distributed in the Monbetsu-Kamishihoro Graben which belongs to the Kuril Inner Arc. The Seta deposit located in the southern extremity of the Graben is classified into a hot spring gold deposit, based upon the modes of occurence.<BR>In the Seta mine area, Middle Pliocene lacustrine deposits of the Ashoro Formation which were accumulated in the Tokachi Basin unconformably covers Late Miocene to Early Pliocene terrestrial volcanic products of the Horokapiribetsugawa Formation. The lacustrine deposits are composed of sandstone, mudstone and siliceous deposits associated with a hot spring gold mineralization. A wide variety of sedimentary structure of the lacustrine deposits is observable in this area ; for detailed investigation, a logging of 80 meters of new diamond drill core (GSH-91-1) was necessary, which revealed the sedimentary structure of the basal part of the deposits and the relationship of the Horokapiribetsugawa and the Ashoro Formations. Siliceous deposits have been divided into 5 types, S-I to S-V. Silica is deposited as silica sinter (S-I) on land and/or temporally on shore near the water line, and also conducted into the cold lake water by the thermal water as a thin bedded siliceous deposit (S-II), because the silica gelation quickly proceeds under the influence of current or wave. The hydrothermal eruption broke up the underlying rocks for breccias like a clastic dike and, as a result, scattered breccias, so-called hydrothermat explosion breccias (S-IV) and/or the accidental silica blocks (S-III) in tuff and sandstone. When the hydrothermal eruption took place intermittently in shallow water, silica was deposited as silica complex deposit with sandstone and conglomerate (S-V)<BR>The hydrothermal activity has been divided into seven stages (I to VII). In the Stage I, just prior to form the lake, the acid hydrothermal activity, began, resulting in the silicified and argillized zones in the Horokapiribetsugawa Formation. Stage II, is characterized by the prevalence of hydrothermal explosion breccias on the land of the northern edge of the lake. As mixing of the ascending acid thermal water with the cold groundwater or interstitial water in the basal part of the lacustrine deposits and the argillized rocks of the Horokapiribetsugawa Formation just under the surface of unconformity, adularia formed in sandstone and argillized tuff breccia with kaolin minerals as an alteration product. In the Stages III and V, the hydrothermal activity increased and silica was deposited on the land and/or on the bottom of the lake resulted in silica sinter, thin, bedded siliceous deposit and siliceous complex deposit. Stages IV and VI-1 are similar to Stage II. It may be inferred that the hydrothermal activity was carried on the shore of the lake or the land. In the Stage IV-2, the silica sinter which deposited to a thickness of about 2 meters on land. The hydrothermal activity has silicified to the surrounding rocks and has formed vertical and horizontal quartz veins in these rocks. In the Stage Vll, the hydrothermal activity was attenuated.<BR>These spots of the hydrothermal activity moved from north to south associated with the gold mineralization.

A supplemental tubercle is often seen on the mesiobuccal part of the lamina on the lower molar of Rattus. We call this the mesiobuccal tubercle to distinguish it from the others. The main aim of this paper is to report on regional differences in its frequency of appearance on the mesiobuccal tubercle and to report on various supplemental tubercles on the lower molar of Rattus norvegicus. I. Regional difference: We have examined the regional difference of frequency of the appearance of the mesiobuccal tubercle in Rattus norvegicus, which were collected in the following four districts; Matsumoto City, Shiga Heights in Nagano Prefecture, Nagoya City and Fukuoka City. The most noticeable difference is found on the second lamina of the second molar. A quite significant difference is that the rate of frequency appearance on the right molar in Nagoya is 66.7%, which is far lower than the others; in Shiga Heights it is 91.7%, in Matsumoto City 95.1%, and in Fukuoka City 92.6%. On the second lamina of the third molar we recognize a regional difference, and especially the rate on the right molar in Nagoya, as well as that of the second lamina of the second molar, is much lower than the rate in the other three districts. II. Various supplemental tubercles which appear on the lower molar are as follows: 1) The supplemental tubercles found on the lingual surface between the first and the second lamina of the second molar. 2) The tubercle found on the distal surface of second lamina of the third molar. This tubercle is homologous to the posterior heel of the first and second molar and seems to be its remnant. 3) The tubercle found on the distobuccal of the first lamina of the first molar.

In order to examine relationships between Twitter use and pseudoscientific beliefs, we conducted two online surveys of individuals in a wide age range and received 2,879 answers. The analysis of these answers suggested that Twitter use and pseudoscientific beliefs are closely related to each other but that their interaction varies according to Twitter viewing frequency and purposes, the kind of pseudoscientific beliefs in question, and Twitter user's information-processing style. In general, some of those who use Twitter very often and rely on their intuition tend to believe in a certain kind of pseudoscientific beliefs. In the surveys, we also requested to describe what kind of pseudoscientific beliefs are the most familiar and pseudoscientific beliefs regarding medical and health care are most often named.

小学校や中学校では,三角形・四角形・円などの平面図形の面積や角柱・角錐・球などの立体図形の体積を求めてきた。しかし,面積や体積を求めるこれらの公式が,どのように導きだされたかを知るのは,高等学校で積分を習ってからである。ここでは,「平面スライス型分割」を土台に,教科書にはない楽しい求積のアイディア「バームクーヘン型分割」「雪だるま型分割」「とんがり帽子型分割」などの考え方を使って,いろいろな立体図形の体積を求めていく。ここで紹介する内容は,集中講義「空間図形と微積融合問題を斬る」の中で空間図形と微積融合問題を攻略しその弱点を補強するために実施した演習の時間に扱ったものである。「導関数の定義」と「はさみうちの原理」を基礎にして,求積公式を導き,いろいろな切り口から求積問題に迫ることで,どんな問題にも対処できる実力をつけていく教材の開発をめざしている。

本調査の目的は,再治療が必要とされた様々な歯科修復物について,再治療に至った原因と,それまでの使用年数を調べることである。調査は,岡山市と名古屋市の10歯科医院において行われた。対象は,歯科修復処置が施されているにもかかわらず,歯科医師の判断により,再治療または抜歯が適当と診断された3,120歯であった。調査時に,既存修復物の種類,および,再治療が必要であると判断された理由を記録した。また,その修復物の使用年数を,患者への聞き取り調査から求めた。その結果,レジン,インレー,鋳造冠,アマルガムの平均使用年数は,それぞれ5.2,5.4,7.1,そして7.4年であった。レジン,アマルガム,インレーでは,2次齲蝕を原因として再治療される場合が多く認められた。インレーや前歯部で汎用される補綴物では,脱落によって再治療される場合が多くみられた。しかも,その場合の使用年数は,他の原因で再治療された場合の使用年数と比べて短かった。従って,インレーや前歯部で汎用される補綴物については,その脱落を可及的に防ぐことで,使用年数を効果的に延ばせる可能性が示唆された。

In this research, an experiment was conducted to evaluate lighting environments in a commercial street in different time zones when the shops were open and after they had closed. In the results, the evaluation of the lighting environment while shops were open was very high for shopping behavior etc., but the evaluation after the shops were closed was low for all usage behaviors. The evaluations of shopping behavior, feeling of security, and nuisances, etc. tended to be determined chiefly by the average luminance level of the street. Moreover, color and height of street lights, and strength and color of shops' internal illuminations were found to have a strong effect on relaxing scenery and atmospheric behaviors.
