データフレームコンパイラを搭載し利便性と高速性の両方を実現するデータフレーム用 Python ライブラリ Ducks を紹介する.データフレームは,github で 35K star を誇る Pandas に代表されるように,データ分析や前処理に広く用いられているが,データ量の増大や分析の複雑化により高速化が求められている.Ducks は HPC で培われてきた実行時コンパイル技術を用いることで,ライブラリ呼び出しを直接実行するのではなく,データフーム用の中間言語(IR)を生成して遅延実行を行う方式を採用している.これにより API とその実行を分離し,Pandas 互換の API を提供しながら,IR 上でのドメイン特化の最適化,ターゲットプラットフォームに最適化されたバックエンドによる IR 実行により高速性も実現する.ベンチマーク集である TPCx-BB,TPC-H に含まれる 45 種類のデータ前処理・分析処理を用いた CPU 上での評価では,ライブラリを選択する impor t文の変更のみで,Pandas に対して最大 17 倍,平均 5.8 倍の性能向上を得ることができ,本方式の有効性を確認した.

Syntheses of ruby and sapphire were performed by flux-method. As for the synthesis of ruby, the using flux is PbO-PbF2, and the coloring reagent is Cr2O3. In almost all runs, hexagonal thin platy transparent crystals were obtained. The total color is light pink, and the center part of crystal shows red color. As by-products, light brown platy-hexagonal form of PbAl12O19 crystal and light pink octahedron form of PbAl2O4 crystal (spinel type) were also obtained, which were synthesized by the reaction between Al2O3 and flux component (Pb). As for the synthesis of sapphire, the using fluxes are MoO3, MoO3-Li2O and PbO-PbF2, and the coloring reagent is Fe2O3. In the case of the only MoO3 flux, light blue, and in the case of the MoO3-Li2O flux, dark blue platy-hexagonal sapphire crystals were obtained. In the case of the PbO-PbF2 flux, from transparent to light blue platy-hexagonal sapphire crystals were gained, and light brown platy-hexagonal form of PbAl12O19 crystal was also obtained as like as the case of the synthesis of ruby.

日本語教育で学習する~テイクについて,『基本動詞ハンドブック』 (http://verbhandbook.ninjal.ac.jp) の分類枠を基に「~テイクの用法分類」を作成し,その分類に基づき,日本語教材と『理工学系話し言葉コーパス』を対象に使用実態調査を行った。コーパスを調査した結果,継続動作や変化進展の用法に次いで,多回的継続の用法が多いことがわかった。また,初級から中級レベルの総合教科書や発表用教材の調査では「~テイクの用法分類」中,取り上げられている用法に検討の余地があることがわかった。そこで,本稿では従来の授業であまり注目されることがなかった,多回的継続の用法や,発表でよく使用されるメタ言語表現,~テイクとほかの初級文型を組み合わせた表現,一語として導入したほうがよい表現などを理工系の学習者のレベルや環境に応じて提示し,学ぶ機会を積極的に設けることを提案する。

We used a consensus statement to diagnose sarcopenic obesity, evaluated incidence of sarcopenic obesity in older patients with diabetes, and examined whether sarcopenic obesity was associated with their higher-level functional capacity. Outpatients with diabetes (age, ≥65 years) undergoing treatment at Ise Red Cross Hospital were included. The Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Gerontology Index of Competence (TMIG-IC)—a self-administered questionnaire—was used to assess their higher-level functional capacity. Sarcopenic obesity was evaluated based on the consensus statement diagnostic criteria—i.e., presence or absence of decreased skeletal muscle mass was evaluated based on appendicular skeletal muscle mass/body weight and obesity was assessed based on body fat mass percentage. To calculate the adjusted β coefficient of sarcopenic obesity for higher-level functional capacity, multiple regression analyses were performed using TMIG-IC scores as the dependent variable and four categories (non-sarcopenia/non-obesity was used as a reference) that included sarcopenia and obesity as the predictor and moderator variables. Among the 310 patients included, the sarcopenic obesity incidence was 13.1% and 14.2% in men and women, respectively. When the non-sarcopenia/non-obesity group was used as a reference, the adjusted β coefficient of sarcopenic obesity for scores of the TMIG-IC was –2.09 (p = 0.014) in men. However, the women showed no relationship between sarcopenic obesity and TMIG-IC scores. In older men with diabetes, sarcopenic obesity was associated with a decline in higher-level functional capacity.

Erdheim-Chester病(ECD)は異常に増殖した組織球系細胞が多臓器に浸潤する稀な疾患である.症例は67歳,男性.初診時から既に多臓器の障害があった.副腎皮質ステロイドの漸減中に痰の喀出困難や不整脈を生じ死亡した.剖検所見では,CD68陽性の組織球やリンパ球の浸潤および線維性結合織の増生を心臓,肺,腎臓等に認めた.特に右房における心筋の破壊は著しく,ECD病変による刺激伝導系の傷害が生命予後に影響を及ぼしたものと考えた.

Language tasks for monitoring intraoperative language symptoms have not yet been established. This study aimed to examine whether the quantitative evaluation of language function with visual and auditory naming during awake craniotomy predicts early postoperative language function in patients. Thirty-seven patients with brain tumors in the language-dominant hemisphere were included. They underwent visual and auditory naming preoperatively and at the end of tumor resection for intraoperative evaluation. Using the Western Aphasia Battery, their overall language functions were evaluated preoperatively, early postoperatively (within 1 week), and late postoperatively (after 1 month). The preoperative and intraoperative changes in the visual and auditory naming scores were significantly correlated with most of the Western Aphasia Battery score changes between the preoperative and early postoperative evaluations, which was more remarkable for auditory naming. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that changes in the auditory naming score predicted the preoperative to early postoperative changes in the aphasia quotient of the Western Aphasia Battery. Receiver operating characteristics analysis showed a higher area under the curve or discriminative power for auditory than visual naming in predicting the development or exacerbation of aphasia in the early postoperative period. Considering the analyses applied separately for low- and high-grade glioma, auditory naming, which taps into a wider range of linguistic functions, may be more informative than visual naming as language evaluation in awake craniotomy for the early postoperative development of aphasia, especially for patients with high-grade glioma.

In idiopathic tarsal tunnel syndrome (TTS), walking seems to make symptoms worse. The findings imply that an ankle movement dynamic component may have an impact on the etiology of idiopathic TTS. We describe how the ankle movement affects the nerve compression caused by the surround tissue, particularly the posterior tibial artery. We enrolled 8 cases (15 sides) that had TTS surgery after tarsal tunnel (TT) MRI preoperatively. Dorsiflexion and plantar flexion were the two separate ankle positions used for the T2* fat suppression 3D and MR Angiography of TT. Based on these findings, we looked at how the two different ankle positions affected the posterior tibial artery's ability to compress the nerve. Additionally, we assessed the posterior tibial artery's distorted angle. We divided the region around the TT into four sections: proximal and distal to the TT and proximal half and distal half to the TT. Major compression cause was posterior tibial artery. Most severe compression point was proximal half in the TT in all cases without one case. In each scenario, the nerve compression worsens by the plantar flexion. The angle of the twisted angle of the posterior tibial artery was significantly worsened by the plantar flexion. In idiopathic TTS, deformation of posterior tibial artery was the primary compression component. Nerve compression was exacerbated by the plantar flexion, and it was attributable with the change of the distorted angle of the posterior tibial artery. This could be a contributing factor of the deteriorating etiology by walking in idiopathic TTS.

Werner helicase–interacting protein 1 (WRNIP1) belongs to the AAA+ ATPase family and is conserved from Escherichia coli to human. In addition to an ATPase domain in the middle region of WRNIP1, WRNIP1 contains a ubiquitin-binding zinc-finger (UBZ) domain and two leucine zipper motifs in the N-terminal and C-terminal regions, respectively. Here, we report that the UBZ domain of WRNIP1 is responsible for the reduced levels of UV-induced proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) monoubiquitylation in POLH-disrupted (polymerase η (Polη)-deficient) cells, and that the ATPase domain of WRNIP1 is involved in regulating the level of the PrimPol protein. The suppression of UV sensitivity of Polη-deficient cells by deletion of WRNIP1 was abolished by expression of the mutant WRNIP1 lacking the UBZ domain or ATPase domain, but not by the mutant lacking the leucine zipper domain in WRNIP1/POLH double-disrupted cells. The leucine zipper domain of WRNIP1 was required for its interaction with RAD18, a key factor in TLS (DNA translesion synthesis), and DNA polymerase δ catalytic subunit, POLD1. On the basis of these findings, we discuss the possible role of WRNIP1 in TLS.

頭部衝撃による脳, 頭蓋骨の傷害は, 人頭皮によって緩和される. 人頭皮の衝撃に対する緩衝能ならびに物理的特性を知るとともに, 市販の材料中より, 等価の緩衝材料を見出す目的で, ゴム類, 土, 発泡スチロールについて実験を行なった.屍頭頭頂部より採取した人頭皮の試験片を鉄台上に置き, その上へ, 加速度計を内臓した重量5kgの頭蓋モデルを, 高さを変えて落下せしめ, 衝撃加速度を記録すると同時に, 傷害の程度を組織学的に検討した.人頭皮は, 落下距離が30cmより高くなると組織破壊が始まり, 40cmで組織は断裂し, 衝撃加速度曲線は bottoming をおこし, 緩衝能を失う. このさいの衝撃加速度値は100gを示した.加速度曲線の類似性より検討すると, 厚さ7mmの Viskol A-30® (チオコールゴム) は, 100gまでの範囲内では人頭皮の緩衝能とよく一致することがわかった. ただしゴム類では弾性限界は高い. 土, 発泡スチロールについても同様に実験を行ない, 人頭皮の simulation に関して若干の検討を加えた.

We report two cases of pregnant females presenting with intracerebral hematoma caused by ruptured arteriovenous malformation (AVM). A 21-year-old woman suddenly presented with severe headache, motor aphasia and right hemiparesis at 30 weeks of pregnancy because of a hematoma in the left frontal lobe. A cerebral angiogram showed AVM in the frontal lobe. We performed an emergency operation to remove the hematoma and AVM. The postoperative course was uneventful without neonatal complications. In the other case, a 32-year-old woman complained of headache and vomiting at 11 weeks of pregnancy. A CT scan indicated a right cerebellar hematoma. A cerebral angiogram revealed cerebellar AVM. An emergency surgical evacuation of the hematoma and AVM was performed. A complete cure was achieved after operation without complications. Intracerebral hematoma in a pregnant woman can lead to the death of the mother and fetus. Appropriate diagnosis and treatment should be immediately undertaken to save maternal and neonatal life.

Background: Clinical practice guidelines strongly recommend optimal medical therapy (OMT), including lifestyle modification, pharmacotherapy, and exercise-based cardiac rehabilitation (CR), in patients with stable ischemic heart disease (SIHD). However, the efficacy and safety of CR in patients with SIHD without revascularization remain unclear.Methods and Results: The Prospective Registry of STable Angina RehabiliTation (Pre-START) study is a multicenter, prospective, single-arm, open-label pilot study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of CR on health-related quality of life (HRQL), exercise capacity, and clinical outcomes in Japanese patients with SIHD without revascularization. In this study, all patients will undergo guideline-based OMT and are encouraged to have 36 outpatient CR sessions within 5 months after enrollment. The primary endpoint is the change in the Seattle Angina Questionnaire-7 summary score between baseline and the 6-month visit; an improvement of ≥5 points will be defined as a clinically important change. Secondary endpoints include changes in other HRQL scores and exercise capacity between baseline and the 6-month visit, as well as clinical outcomes between enrollment and the 6-month visit.Conclusions: The Pre-START study will provide valuable evidence to elucidate the efficacy and safety of CR in patients with SIHD and indispensable information for a subsequent randomized controlled trial. The study was registered with the University Hospital Medical Information Network (UMIN) Clinical Trials Registry (ID: UMIN000045415) on April 1, 2022.
