歴史写真はその現場の姿を後世にまで正確に伝えるが,当時の人が抱いていた関心事や現場を訪れた人の印象まで伝えるのは難しい.1863 年外国人居留地横浜に写真スタジオを開設し,スイス使節団あるいはオランダ領事に随行して江戸を訪れた英国人写真家フリーチェ・ベアトは,江戸界隈の写真を数多く残している.そして古代都市トロイヤを1871年に発見したハインリッヒ・シュリーマンは,それに先立つ1865年に世界漫遊の中で一ヶ月間日本に滞在した.彼は米国代理公使の招待で5日間横浜から江戸への小旅行を行い,その記録を彼の旅行記に収めた.本報では,ベアト写真とシュリーマン旅行記を重ね合せ,①外国人の殺害現場,②愛宕山のパノラマ風景,③浅草観音寺,④王子の茶屋の4つの場所で,当時の外国人の関心事と印象を考察してみた.

This study conducted a secondary survey based on the hypothesis that the “total mechanical activation of fast-twitch fibers in the muscles determines the effects of muscle hypertrophy”, with resistance training of the knee extensor muscles as the target because of its importance in preventing sarcopenia. Using a mathematical model that estimates the mechanical activation of each muscle fiber (fast-twitch and slow-twitch fiber) during exercise, which was developed in a previous study, we estimated the total mechanical activation of fast-twitch fibers in 30 training programs described in 23 selected previous studies on leg extension exercise programs and their muscle hypertrophy effect. With the estimated value and other factors of the training effect described in previous studies (training volume, etc.) as explanatory variables and muscle hypertrophy effect as an objective variable, we performed multiple regression analysis. The results revealed that the training effect was related to total mechanical activation of the fast-twitch fibers (standardized partial regression coefficient: 0.66), training load (standardized partial regression coefficient, 0.29) and number of sets (standardized partial regression coefficient: −0.37). The total mechanical activation of fast-twitch fibers was the strongest determinant of the muscle hypertrophy effect. In addition, we predicted the relationship between the level of the training effect of leg extension exercise and program variables. This study is the first to demonstrate “the relationship between total mechanical activation of fast-twitch fibers and muscle hypertrophy effect” in the field of muscle physiology, and the first to elucidate the association between the program variables and the training effect.

本研究では,システムの応答を積極的に評価し,制御入力を決める「応答評価器」を提案し,減衰係数可変型のオイルダンパを有するセミアクティブ免震建物に適用した.システムの応答である建物最上階の絶対加速度と免震層変位を入力とし,オイルダンパの減衰係数を決める応答評価器を階層型ニューラルネットワークを用いて構成した.応答評価器の性能を決めるニューラルネットワークのパラメータ調整には,遺伝的アルゴリズムを使用した.種々の地震動入力に対してシミュレーションを行い,減衰係数をhardまたはsoftで一定とした場合に比べて,トレードオフの関係にある絶対加速度と免震層変位をhardとsoftの時の応答の中間値に抑えることができ,応答評価器の有効性が検証された.

炎症のchemical mediatorであるprostaglandin (PG) E2は, 急性炎症反応だけでなく, 慢性炎症にも関与していることが明らかにされてきた。ここでは, cyclooxygenase (COX) -2に由来するPGE2が肉芽組織における血管新生に関与していることについて, 筆者らのラットのカラゲニン空気嚢型炎症モデルにおける研究成果を中心に最近の知見を紹介する。ラット背部皮下に作製した空気嚢内にカラゲニン溶液を注射すると3日後から6日後に血管新生を伴う肉芽組織の増大が見られた。COX-2選択的阻害薬NS-398及びCOX-1/COX-2阻害薬indomethacinは滲出液重量, 肉芽重量及び血管新生の増大を抑制し, COX-2は炎症反応だけでなく, 血管新生にも関与していることが示唆された。NS-398は滲出液中の血管内皮増殖因子 (VEGF) 量を低下させたこと, PGE2はin vitroにおいて, 肉芽組織によるVEGF産生を増大させたことから, COX-2に由来するPGE2がVEGFの産生を誘導し, 肉芽組織中の血管新生を増大させることが示唆された。さらにPGE2のVEGF産生誘導機序についても言及する。

北太平洋西部における台風の発生および日本への台風の襲来について、地域分布や年変化、経年変化などの気候学的特徴を明らかにした。台風の発生については1953-1982年の30年間を解析の対象とした。日本への台風の襲来は、さらに長い期間の資料を収集して、1913-1982年の70年間について解析した。台風が多く発生したときと少ないときの両者について、発生場所や500mb高度場、雲量、海面水温を比較した。また台風が日本へ多く襲来した年と少ない年における台風の襲来数の分布の違いを調べた。日本各地の台風襲来数の年変化型の地域差を主成分分析で明らかにし、得られた固有ベクトルに対応する振幅係数を使って日本の地域区分を行った。 次に、東部赤道太平洋における海面水温の異常現象であるエル・ニーニョと台風の発生数との関係を見いだすとともに、北太平洋の海面水温と1953-1982年の30年間における台風の発生数および日本への台風の襲来数との相関関係を解析した。大きな相関係数が得られた海面水温、すなわち台風が発生する前年と2年前の北太平洋の海面水温を予測因子として重回帰分析を行ったところ、北太平洋の海面水温が、台風の発生数や日本への台風の襲来数を長期予報するための資料として役立つことがわかった。

This study aims to extend our knowledge of organizational anticipatory socialization by examining the antecedents and consequences of learning of new recruits about an organization between the job offer and organizational entry. I collected longitudinal data from a large Japanese manufacturing company and analyzed the socialization programs conducted by the organization and proactive behaviors of new recruits. I found that proactive behaviors are significantly positively related to newcomer learning, while socialization programs have both positive and negative effects on newcomer learning. Moreover, I found that newcomer learning has significant positive effects on the distal organizational outcomes of affective commitment, expectation in the organization, and achievement motivation to work after organizational entry. The implications of these findings for organizational anticipatory socialization are discussed.

古代中国社会は身分関係の厳しい封建社会である.このような身分関係は多かれ少なかれことばの運用に反映される.『礼記』(前1世紀)の中で,身分の異なる人の死についてそれぞれ異なる表現を使い分けるように規定している.本論文は『史記』(前1世紀)を対象として死亡を表すさまざまな異形と指示対象の社会的身分との関係,および言語変異に影響を与える他の社会的要因などについて考察した.そして,『礼記』の言語規範と『史記』の言語運用との間の違いについて検証を行なった.

本稿では、クレイトン・M・クリステンセンが提唱したイノベーションの法則を分析フレームワークとして、アップルが2001年以降に開発した製品iPod、iPhone、iPadが新市場型の破壊的イノベーションであることを実証的に分析し、アップルがいかにして競争優位を築き上げたのか、その要因を解明する。ネットワークサービスを中心にした破壊的戦略に加え、統合化戦略やモジュール化戦略の有効性、さらには、アップルが破壊的イノベーションにより成長する上で必要な基本方針などの検証と考察を試みる。

Based on data from a large-scale manufacturing company in Japan, this study quantitatively analyzed the relationship between the recruitment process for prospective graduates and attitude formation of those who have been appointed to work but have not yet commenced the employment. Consistent with my hypothesis, the results suggest that appropriate management of recruitment and selection processes lead to favorable reactions from new appointees to the company. Specifically, it was found that favorable impressions of the company's briefing session for potential applicants and of interviewers' behavior and attitude in job interviews had a positive effect on the appointees' views. It was also found that it is useful for interviewers to provide applicants with sufficient information about the company and examine the applicants' aptitude for the company during their communication.
