健常人及ビ諸種疾患々者ノ血清「ポリペブチイド」量ノ消長ヲ觀察スル目的ニテ、余ノ曩ニ報告セル方法ニ從ヒ、特ニ疾患ノ經過ヲ遂ヒテ血清DN (Differenzstickstoff) 價ヲ測定セル結果、次ノ成績ヲ得タリ。<BR>健常人ニ於ケル血清DNハ平均四・九mg/dlナリ。肝臟諸疾患々者ニ於テハソノ血清DNノ上昇シ得ルコト、而モソノ上昇度ハ臨床的症状ノ重篤ナルモノニ於テ一般ニ著シキコトヲ知レリ。即チ重症鬱血肝・末期ノ肝臟癌・肝硬變症及ビ重症膽石症等、尚又「ワイル」氏病及ビ敗血症ヲ合併セル「カラ・アザール」ノ患者ニ於テハソノ増加度顯著ニシテ、而モ膽毒症ヲ併發セル例ニ於テハ最モ高キ数値ヲ示セリ。腎臟疾患々者ニ於テハ、高價ノ残餘窒素量ヲ認メタル急性及ビ慢性腎臟炎ニ於テソノ血清DNノ上昇ヲ證明セリ。而モコノ數値ハ臨床的症状ノ重篤ナル例ニ於テ一般ニ高ク、尿毒症ヲ併襲セル例ニテハ、ソノ上昇度顯著ナリ。ソノ他ノ諸疾患中、白血病・肺癆・脳出血ヲ合併セル急性肺炎等ノ患者ニ於テモ一定ノ増加ヲ觀タリ。尚重症敗血症ノ一例ニテハ三六・六gm/dlノ高値ヲ認メタリ。<BR>即チ血清DN價ノ消長ヲ、ソノ疾患ノ經過ヲ逐ヒテ觀察スルコトハ、一定疾患殊ニ肝臟疾患々者ニ於テハ、ソノ豫後判定ニ對シテ一定ノ資與アル可キモノト理解セラルベシ。

植物活性剤,化粧品原料等に利用されるフルボ酸は,日本の森林土壌中に含まれる有用な有機酸であるが土壌中に微量しか含まれておらず,これらの用途に利用するために海外から採掘された有限資源を輸入して国内で利用してきた経緯がある.こうした状況の中,日本の森林から間伐によって産出される木質資材と木炭等の生産過程で産出される有機酸を利用することによって有機物の縮合・重合を促すことに成功したことから,人工的にフルボ酸を高純度で量産化できるようになってきた.このように量産化されるようになってきたフルボ酸は,国内外での環境改善に利用されていることから,一般的なフルボ酸等の高分子化合物の解説と環境改善への利用について説明する.

地方創生の主たる施策の一つである「地方創生関係交付金」は、今から30年程前に各自治体に1億円ずつ配分された「ふるさと創生事業」以来の大胆な自治体向けの交付金事業であるが、この30年でどのように変わったのだろうか。本研究では、両交付金を対象に歴史的背景の考察、人口規模や面積等によるジニ係数の比較、テキストマイニングによる事業名の比較によりそれぞれ比較考証した。結論として、次の3つが得られた。第1に両交付金は配分方法が異なるにも関わらず、住民1人あたりの交付金額の偏在度の差異は僅差である。第2に地方創生関係交付金の獲得の有無には、「財政力指数」、「周辺自治体の平均獲得件数」が統計的に有意であること示めした。第3に両交付金の事業タイトルをテキストマイニングを用いて分析したところ、事業テーマはハード事業からソフト事業へ移行していることが分かった。さらに対応分析から、ふるさと創生のような国主導の方が、より自由度の増した地方創生より地域性をより反映していることを可視化した。

Antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs) are biopharmaceuticals produced by chemically linking small molecules (payloads) to antibodies that possess specific affinity for the target cell. The ADCs currently on the commercially market are the result of a stochastic conjugation of highly-potent payloads to multiple sites on the monoclonal antibody, resulting in a heterogeneous drug–antibody ratio (DAR) and drug distribution. The heterogeneity inherent to ADCs not produced site-specifically may not only be detrimental to the quality of the drug but also is less-desirable from the perspective of regulatory science. An ideal method or unified approach used to measure the DAR for ADCs, a critical aspect of their analysis and characterization, has not yet been established in the ADC field and remains an often-challenging issue for bioanalytical chemists. In this review we describe, compare, and evaluate the characteristics of various DAR determination methods for ADCs featuring recently reported technologies. The future landscape of bioconjugate DAR analysis is also discussed.

Currently, human-skin derived cell culture is a basic technique essential for dermatological research, cellular engineering research, drug development, and cosmetic development. But the number of donors is limited, and primary cell function reduces through cell passage. In particular, since adult stem cells are present in a small amount in living tissues, it has been difficult to obtain a large amount of stem cells and to stably culture them. In this study, skin derived cells were isolated from the epidermis, dermis, and adipose tissue collected from single donor, and immortalization was induced through gene transfer. Subsequently, cell lines that could be used as stem cell models were selected using the differentiation potential and the expression of stem cell markers as indices, and it was confirmed that these could be stably cultured. The immortalized cell lines established in this study have the potential to be applied not only to basic dermatological research but also to a wide range of fields such as drug screening and cell engineering.

Claudin-5 is the dominant tight junction protein in brain endothelial cells and exclusively limits the paracellular permeability of molecules larger than 400 Da across the blood–brain barrier (BBB). Its pathological impairment or sustained down-regulation has been shown to lead to the progression of psychiatric and neurological disorders, whereas its expression under physiological conditions prevents the passage of drugs across the BBB. While claudin-5 enhancers could potentially act as vascular stabilizers to treat neurological diseases, claudin-5 inhibitors could function as delivery systems to enhance the brain uptake of hydrophilic small-molecular-weight drugs. Therefore, the effects of claudin-5 manipulation on modulating the BBB in different neurological diseases requires further examination. To manipulate claudin-5 expression levels and function, several claudin-5 modulating molecules have been developed. In this review, we first describe the molecular, cellular and pathological aspects of claudin-5 to highlight the mechanisms of claudin-5 enhancers/inhibitors. We then discuss recently developed claudin-5 enhancers/inhibitors and new methods to discover these molecules.

Purpose: To compare reliability and elucidate clinical application of magnetization-prepared rapid gradient-echo (MPRAGE) with 9-fold acceleration by using wave-controlled aliasing in parallel imaging (Wave-CAIPI 3 × 3) in comparison to conventional MPRAGE accelerated by using generalized autocalibrating partially parallel acquisition (GRAPPA) 2 × 1.Methods: A total of 26 healthy volunteers and 33 patients were included in this study. Subjects were scanned with two MPRAGEs, GRAPPA 2 × 1 and Wave-CAIPI 3 × 3 acquired in 5 min 21 s and 1 min 42 s, respectively, on a 3T MR scanner. Healthy volunteers underwent additional two MPRAGEs (CAIPI 3 × 3 and GRAPPA 3 × 3). The image quality of the four MPRAGEs was visually evaluated with a 5-point scale in healthy volunteers, and the SNR of four MPRAGEs was also calculated by measuring the phantom 10 times with each MPRAGE. Based on the results of the visual evaluation, voxel-based morphometry (VBM) analyses, including subfield analysis, were performed only for GRAPPA 2 × 1 and Wave-CAIPI 3 × 3. Correlation of segmentation results between GRAPPA 2 × 1 and Wave-CAIPI 3 × 3 was assessed.Results: In visual evaluations, scores for MPRAGE GRAPPA 2 × 1 (mean rank: 4.00) were significantly better than those for Wave-CAIPI 3 × 3 (mean rank: 3.00), CAIPI 3 × 3 (mean rank: 1.83), and GRAPPA 3 × 3 (mean rank: 1.17), and scores for Wave-CAIPI 3×3 were significantly better than those for CAIPI 3 × 3 and GRAPPA 3 × 3. Image noise was evident at the center for additional MPRAGE CAIPI 3 × 3 and GRAPPA 3 × 3. The correlation of segmentation results between GRAPPA 2 × 1 and Wave-CAIPI 3 × 3 was higher than 0.85 in all VOIs except globus pallidus. Subfield analysis of hippocampus also showed a high correlation between GRAPPA 2 × 1 and Wave-CAIPI 3 × 3.Conclusion: MPRAGE Wave-CAIPI 3 × 3 shows relatively better contrast, despite of its short scan time of 1 min 42 s. The volumes derived from automated segmentation of MPRAGE Wave-CAIPI are considered to be reliable measures.

Jadeitite, known as ‘hisui’ in Japan, has been esteemed as sacred stone in both ancient and modern Japanese cultures. Although it was thought that the source material of Japanese jadeitite was brought from China, the identification of jadeite in 1939 changed this interpretation. Japanese jadeitites and jadeite–rich metasomatic rocks are found in Paleozoic and also Mesozoic geotectonic units. All localities are situated in serpentinite mélange with high–pressure metamorphic rocks and/or serpentinite lenses within a high–pressure metamorphosed complex. Outcrop exposures of contact between jadeitite and host serpentinite are extremely rare. Normally the jadeitites show lithological heterogeneity in the same locality due to multiple deformation, recrystallization, and metasomatic fluid infiltration. Studies over the last two decades have interpreted jadeitite in worldwide either as the direct aqueous fluid precipitate (P–type) from subduction channel into the overlying mantle wedge, as the metasomatic replacement (R–type) by such fluids of oceanic plagiogranite, graywacke, or metabasite along the channel margin, or a combination of these two processes. Japanese jadeitites are classified into one or the other type. Multiple stable isotope characterization analyses for jadeitite and related metasomatic rocks and serpentinite become increasingly important to decode fluid behaviors in past subduction zone. However, available geochemical data on Japanese jadeitite are very limited in comparison with other studied localities. More systematic research will unlock new insights about fluid flow and its impacts at the bottom of forearc mantle where jadeitites form. Chemical differentiation and transportation of the fluids involved in jadeitite–formation are crucial topics requiring further research. Nevertheless, the designation of jadeite (and jadeitite) as the national stone of Japan by the Japan Association of Mineralogical Sciences in 2016 should bolster education of the public about this revered stone and its role in subduction zone processes.

安価で軽量なプラスチックは容器包装材を中心に世界で年間約4億tが生産され約3億tが廃棄されている。現在、プラスチックの原料は石油等の化石資源であるが、近い将来、主にバイオマス等の再生可能資源から製造されると考えられる。新規に投入される資源量を最小化するため、使用済み製品の品質に応じてリユース、マテリアルリサイクル、ケミカルリサイクル、エネルギー回収の優先順で循環利用される。また、ライフサイクル全体を通して環境負荷を最小にすると共に、人権や生物多様性へ配慮する倫理性(Ethics)も重要となる。プラスチックは素材としての有用性を十分活かしながら、必要とされる分野に限って使用されていくと考えられる。
