Oxygen probes were applied to a PS converter in copper-making operation, and the oxygen pressures of white metal and blister copper in the converter were measured through the converter's mouth and through a tuyere, respectively. Based on the obtained results, the following reaction mechanism has been deduced.<BR>(1) The copper-making stage of a PS converter may be classified into three stages, i.e. the early substage where the tuyeres are completely in white metal, the intermediate substage where both phases of white metal and blister copper coexist in the converter and the tuyeres are in the blister copper, and the final substage where the white metal has disappeared from the converter.<BR>(2) In the early stage, direct oxidation of white metal by oxygen gas contained in the reaction air progresses in the vicinity of the tuyeres.<BR>Cu<sub>2</sub>S(<i>l</i>) + O<sub>2</sub>(<i>g</i>) = 2Cu(<i>l</i>) + SO<sub>2</sub>(<i>g</i>) …………… (1)<BR>(3) In the intermediate substage, the following three reactions proceed near the tuyeres, at the interface of blister copper and white metal phases, and in the bulk of the blister copper, respectively.<BR>O<sub>2</sub>(<i>g</i>) = 2<u>O</u>(<i>l</i>) …………… (2)<BR>Cu<sub>2</sub>S(<i>l</i>) = 2Cu(<i>l</i>) + <u>S</u>(<i>l</i>) …………… (3)<BR><u>S</u>(<i>l</i>) + 2<u>O</u>(<i>l</i>) = SO<sub>2</sub>(<i>g</i>) …………… (4)<BR>Here the most important factor is that reaction(4) progresses under the condition of <i>P</i><sub>SO<sub>2</sub></sub>=1atm. It is not dependent on how high the SO<sub>2</sub> pressure of the waste gas from the converter is. Because the condense phases, i.e. the white metal and blister copper phases, are not in equilibrium with the gas phase.<BR>(4) In the final substage, reactions(2) and (4) only proceed because the white metal is no longer in the converter. Some of the blister copper can be excessively oxidized to the extent that Cu<sub>2</sub>O(<i>s</i>) is formed according to equation(5). アメリカの国際観光の特徴は、国際観光客到着数についてはフランスに遠くおよばないものの、訪米外国人観光客がアメリカ国内で消費・支出する金額、すなわち観光輸出額が圧倒的に大きいところにある。しかも、アメリカ人(現実にはアメリカ人と、1年以上のアメリカにおける居住者をさし、アメリカ国籍以外の人々も含む。以下、表記上アメリカ人と統一することにする)の観光客が、海外旅行で消費・支出する金額、すなわち観光輸入額は意外と伸びず、観光収支の黒字幅が第2位のスペインを大幅に上廻って断然トップに位置しているところにある。こうした特徴をもったアメリカの国際観光を側面より支えるのは、訪米外国人観光客数とあわせアメリカ人海外観光客数の状況にあるが、これらの実態を地域別はもとより国別ベース、とりわけ国別ベースに焦点をあてて検討しようとするのが、本ノートの課題である。言い換えれば、アメリカを訪れる人々の地域・国はどこか、アメリカ人はどこの地域・国を主に訪れているか、このことを明らかにすることが、本ノートの唯一の目的であり、それ以外の意図はない。

The most important portion of the original Morita Therapy is concerned with showing the patient how he is preoccupied by means of work and diary, and also with helping him learn through absorption in work, that he can do anything in spite of any pains and anxiety. But Morita Therapy is difEcult to practice under the current medical insurance system, or in the setting of modern cites where the doctor's ofEce is located in a high storied building with no provision materials for work. Therefore the author proposed "Walking Training Therapy (Modification of Morita Therapy)" in which walking is adopted instead of working. This therapy is conducted according to the following formula after the period of preparations which consists of one week of absolute rest. l. The patient decides together with the therapist where the final destination of walking will be. It is suitable to choose a station or a bus stop which is located within a 30 minute walk. 2. The patient decides the course of walking. 3. The patient decides the time of walking. 4. Speed of walking is left to the patient. 5. The patient walks by himself. 6. Distance of walking is gradually extended in so far as the patient can keep up the pace. 7. The stance the patient walked yesterday can certainly be covered today, despite the patients mood or the weather. 8. If the patient can walk to the final destination, he should begin to walk twice at his pace at different times. 9. The therapist must make a consistent evaluation of the patient according to the accomplishment of walking the routine distance in spite of pain or anxiety rather than the improvement of his symptoms. lO. It is desirable to guide the patient by means of the diary and also to add daily work besides walking. The author considers this therapy is more useful than the original Morita Therapy in psychosomatic medicine because it is possible for any doctor to practice it in hospitals of any modern city as well as on outpatients. Besides it does not change the essential part of the original Morita Therapy, that is, that he learns from experience. Also this therapy is very effective for such those with a phobia 6f going out, depressive state or anxiety neuroses and psychosomatic disorders.

安芸国の中世武士団小早川氏の領域(安芸東南部)には、中世の石塔(宝篋印塔・五輪塔)が無数に残る。本研究はこうした石塔を歴史資料として活用するため、残欠に至るまで一つひとつ調査を行い、所在位置や原位置の確認、個体数の把握、各部寸法や特徴など、今後の研究に必要な基本データを収集したものである。調査地点は6 市町・279 箇所にわたり、確認した石塔は、宝篋印塔339 基、五輪塔1042 基、一石五輪塔487 基に及ぶ。旧三原市域を除けば、初めて実施された石塔の悉皆調査であり、その意義は極めて大きい。

Atovaquone, an analog of ubiquinone, binds tightly to the ubiquinol oxidation site (Qo site) of parasite cytochrome bc1 complex to inhibit electron transport at concentrations far lower than those at which the mammalian system is affected. The mode of action is thought similar to that of myxothiazol. To treat Pneumocystis jirovecii and Plasmodium falciparum infections, atovaquone has been used worldwide whereas it is unapproved in Japan. Since the pathogenic Candida species fungi seem resistant to atovaquone, this drug is not clinically available for candidosis, particularly deep mycosis. We examined the effects of atovaquone on cellular respiration and in vitro growth of C. albicans to explore a new therapeutic possibility for fungal infections. Atovaquone strongly inhibited glucose-dependent cellular respiration similarly to antimycin A, stigmatellin, and myxothiazol, specific bc1 complex inhibitors. However, atovaquone suppressed glucose-dependent cell growth to a much lesser extent versus the comparator agents. When added alone, lithium exerted slight growth inhibition. The combined addition of lithium with atovaquone showed a significant increase in inhibition of growth. Although the way lithium acts synergistically with atovaquone remains to be elucidated, our results suggest a new therapeutic possibility of this combination for the treatment of candidosis.
