This study aims to grasp the target area of the literature on ontology and to apply it in radiological technology. We used Google scholar to search the literature containing the keyword “ontology”. Our search identified and extracted 162,381 words from 29 manuscripts and used the 8,706 nouns excluding duplicates as individual variable. Using a cluster analysis, we categorized the documents to one of the following five classifications: (1) “Systematization of vocabulary by text mining”, (2) “Hierarchy of language information”, (3) “Conceptualization of situation”, (4) “Standardization of lexical information”, and (5) “Visualization of the concepts related to the problem”. We propose that the terminologies in (2), (4), and (5) cluster can be used in radiological technology field.

The study objective was to determine the effect of oral orbifloxacin (ORB) on antimicrobial susceptibility and composition of fecal coliforms in cats. Nine cats were randomized to two groups administered a daily oral dose of 2.5 and 5.0 mg ORB/kg for 7 days and a control group (three cats per group). Coliforms were isolated from stool samples and were tested for susceptibilities to ORB and 5 other drugs. ORB concentration in feces was measured using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The coliforms were undetectable after 2 days of ORB administration, and their number increased in most cats after termination of the administration. Furthermore, only isolates of Escherichia coli were detected in all cats before administration, and those of Citrobacter freundii were detected after termination of the administration. E. coli isolates exhibited high ORB susceptibility [Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC), ≤0.125 µg/ml] or relatively low susceptibility (MIC, 1−2 µg/ml) with a single gyrA mutation. C. freundii isolates largely exhibited intermediate ORB susceptibility (MIC, 4 µg/ml), in addition to resistance to ampicillin and cefazolin, and harbored qnrB, but not a gyrA mutation. HPLC revealed that the peaks of mean concentration were 61.3 and 141.0 µg/g in groups receiving 2.5 and 5.0 mg/kg, respectively. Our findings suggest that oral ORB may alter the total counts and composition of fecal coliform, but is unlikely to yield highly fluoroquinolone-resistant mutants of E. coli and C. freundii in cats, possibly because of the high drug concentration in feces.

症例は22歳,未婚女性,看護学生,低色素性貧血ならびに不明熱にて入院となった。入院後,鉄欠乏性貧血と診断し,鉄剤の投与を行っていたが周期的に貧血の進行がみられた。特に外泊後に急激な貧血の進行が認められていたことより,われわれはfactitious anemiaを強く疑い,テレビモニターでの監視ならびに所持品検査を行ったところ,患者病室のロッカーならびに自宅より多数の注射器,注射針および血液の入ったボトルが発見された。以上より本症例をfactitious anemiaと診断した。患者は自己瀉血を認め,心療内科医のカウセリングにより貧血の改善傾向がみられたが,退院6カ月後に通院しなくなった。十分量の鉄剤投与に反応を示さない極度の慢性低色素性貧血患者にはfactitious anemiaを考慮する必要がある。

症例は57歳女性.くも膜下出血に脳梗塞を併発し, 発症5カ月後に当院へ入院.左半側空間無視・左片麻痺を認め, 左下肢は痙性亢進のため屈曲共同運動が著明で伸展が困難であった.運動療法, 薬物療法は効果が上がらず, 局所麻酔薬による坐骨神経ブロックを計10回施行した.次第に膝屈曲筋群の痙性は減弱し, 膝伸筋群の収縮がみられ, 下肢の支持性は向上し歩行可能となった.神経ブロックで一過性に膝屈筋群を弛緩させ, 相反性抑制を解除することが伸筋群の収縮を可能とし, 伸筋群に収縮が生じることで逆に屈筋群へ相反性抑制がかかり屈筋群の痙縮が軽減, その結果, 左下肢の支持性・歩行能力が向上したと考えられる.

A 7-year-old female spayed Labrador Retriever was admitted to our hospital, because of cough with sputum. She was diagnosed as having canine eosinophilic pneumonia (CEP) based on blood eosinophilia, bronchial pattern and infiltrative shadow observed on thoracic radiography, bronchiolar obstruction and air-space consolidation predominantly affecting the right caudal lung lobe, as revealed by computed tomography (CT), predominant eosinophils in CT-guided fine needle aspiration and the clinical course. She exhibited a good response to steroid therapy, and the cough disappeared. The serum surfactant protein (SP)-A level increased with the aggravated symptom and decreased markedly with improvement compared with the C-reactive protein level and the number of eosinophils. We propose that serum SP-A level is a good biomarker in CEP.

The pathogenesis of intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration is not fully understood. The biomolecular signaling pathways involved in the IVD degeneration require further investigation. The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of NG2 proteoglycan in the degenerated IVD. IVD samples were obtained from 16 Dachshunds that were confirmed to have IVD herniation and subsequently underwent hemilaminectomy. The samples were subjected to histological and immunohistochemical (IHC) examination. IHC revealed positive results for the expression of NG2 proteoglycan in all examined samples. The results showed the expression of NG2 proteoglycan by the degenerated IVDs.

Teleconnection patterns in boreal winter were sought by using the streamfunction based on one-point covariance analysis. As a result, five patterns with two new patterns, i.e., the North and South Pacific Oscillation pattern (PO) and the Middle Atlantic pattern (MA), were obtained. The PO is an interhemispheric pattern with major centers in the Pacific, related to the El Niño/La Niña. The MA has a similar structure with the East Atlantic pattern (EA), though the orientation of the pattern and the difference in the sustaining mechanism, as well as a relatively low correlation between the two indices, distinguish the MA from the EA, with the primary importance of the MA from several pieces of evidence. The PO and MA have significant relations to the surface air temperature mostly through the temperature advection. By comparing the result of the combined EOF for the zonal and meridional winds, the appropriateness of the use of the streamfunction in association with wind variations was also confirmed.

In this paper, first, analyses of local community mascot characters are carried out to obtain knowledge to be the popular ones. Next a mascot characters automatic creation system is proposed using these findings. As for the analyses, we used 200 mascot characters. Many interesting findings could be obtained such that dark-round eyes tend to contribute to be popular as a mascot character. The proposed system utilizing these findings can create a mascot character reflecting a user's image inputted by affective words. Many parts having degrees of affective images are prepared in the proposed system and are combined to form a character using Rough Sets Theory and an Interactive Genetic Algorithm framework. We performed evaluation experiments. Many mascot characters satisfying user's image were created and remarkable results were obtained through subjective evaluations. For example, by using the extracted rules from the analyses and Interactive Genetic Algorithm, the proposed system can create much favorable mascot characters. Moreover, we found some interesting tendencies of the color used to paint characters. One of them is that gentle characters are often painted in colors with low saturation.

細胞治療や再生医療は、今後、新たな事業機会を提供する産業へと成長していくことが期待されている。しかし、この新たな事業機会を日本経済の成長へとつなげるには、国内企業が、当該産業に新規参入する必要がある。本研究では、旭化成による細胞治療を対象とした新規事業の開発に焦点をあて、川下企業との共同開発の有効性を示す。そして、川上と川下の企業間の関係を構築する仕組みの整備が当該産業に関連した新規事業の開発を促進し、新規参入を後押ししていく可能性を指摘する。

This paper is concerned with the flight controller design of Quad Tilt Wing (QTW) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) which has Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) capability as well as high speed cruise performance. The flight controller is composed of Stability Augmentation System (SAS), which feedbacks angular velocity, and Control Augmentation System (CAS), which feedbacks the difference between attitude commands and current attitude angles. The gains of S/CAS are both scheduled by the tilt angle of the main wings of the QTWUAV since its airspeed and flight dynamics drastically change in accordance with the tilt angle. The S/CAS are designed by three steps; we first select several design points, then design the controller gains at those design points, and finally connect the gains by linear interpolation. In the design process of the controller gains, perturbed models are introduced in addition to the nominal models, and common gains for those models are designed to ensure robust control performance against modeling errors. Full transition flight from vertical take-off to horizontal cruise was successfully accomplished using our controllers.

[Purpose] This study was conducted on adolescent subjects whose brains are still developing with the purpose of identifying the effect of 8 weeks duration of aerobic exercises on the expression of BDNF, IGF-1 and cortisol, to identify effect of aerobic exercise on the expression of cortisol, BDNF and IGF-1 related to nerve cell growth. [Subjects and Methods] The subjects were 20 junior-high school students with no history of physical illness. The students were divided into an exercise group and a control group. The exercise group performed 3 treadmill exercise times per week for 8 weeks. The exercise time for the consumption of 200 kcal was calculated and the exercises were performed by each individual for 8 weeks. [Results] The exercise group showed statistically significant in increases serum BDNF and IGF-1 after 8 weeks, but cortisol showed no significant change. There were statistically significant differences between the groups in serum BDNF and IGF-1 after 8 weeks, but the difference in cortisol levels was not significant. [Conclusion] We found that long-term regular aerobic exercises has a positive effect on the enhancement of serum BDNF levels at rest and IGF-1 of adolescents who are still undergoing through brain developments.
