Image processing is one of the methods used to measure position/attitude for robot control and there are hopes that it can be applied to space robot missions, including REX-J (Robot EXperiment on ISS/JEM). The REX-J mission involves space robot locomotive function experiments using tethers by JAXA. Measuring the robot's motion accurately is crucial to establishing the new locomotive technology using tethers. With conventional methods, a suitable illumination environment is configured for high-precision image processing and a characteristic marker is attached to the measurement object. However, the two challenges posed for image processing during the REX-J mission are: (1) the illumination of space changes significantly with orbital motion and (2) the robot lacks a characteristic marker. Accordingly, our purpose is to develop a marker less image processing method for the illumination environment of space and measure the robot's position/attitude of the REX-J mission by image processing. The proposed new image processing method involves creating virtual points are created at the intersection of the robot's edge in the image, which are then used as markers for image processing. This method is robust for changes in the illumination environment because it allows the creation of a virtual point, even if the edge is incomplete. The method is applied to the REX-J mission and the measurement accuracy of the robot's position/attitude in the illumination environment of space was confirmed as on the sub-pixel level. Subsequently, the position/attitude of the robot during movement by tethers was measured by image processing. In addition, the error in the robot's position/attitude, as estimated from the length of the tethers, was clarified by the image processing result. Based on these results, the robot's locomotive function by the REX-J mission was verified.

未熟児出生, 新生児仮死による痙性両麻痺児に認めた鏡像書字について, 神経心理学的, 画像診断学的に検討し発症機序について考察した. 右側優位の麻痺による左利き状態を右手使いに矯正する過程で鏡像書字は増悪した. 神経心理学的には利き手の矯正中にWPPSIでVIQ86, PIQ74, TIQ76と境界域の知能レベルで視覚認知の弱さが窺えた.もともと左手を使用していたこと, 視覚的に鏡像が自覚出来たこと, MRI上左頭頂葉白質に虚血性搬痕病変を認めたことより, 鏡像書字の原因として空間方向性の障害を考えた. Frostig視知覚発達検査では, 検査IVの空間位置関係の得点が利き手の矯正により低下し矯正をやめると速やかに戻った. 利き手の矯正による感覚運動刺激が視覚認知機能に影響を与える可能性を示唆している.

世界的に遺伝子組換え技術を利用して開発された農作物の実用化が進んでいるが, 実際の商品は組換え作物の後代交配種由来であることが多く, そのような作物における動物の免疫系への影響, 特にアレルギーとの関連について調べられた報告はない. 著者らは, 今回, アレルギー高感受性のB10Aマウス及びBNラットを使った実験において, 除草剤耐性遺伝子 (CP4-EPSPS) が導入された遺伝子組換え (GM) 大豆摂取が, 動物の免疫系に影響を及ぼすか否かの検討を行った. 同等の栄養成分を有する近親の非組換え (non-GM) 大豆を対照として用いた. GM, non-GM混餌飼料を摂取させたマウス, ラットとも両群の体重及び餌の摂取量に有意差はみられず, 15週投与後の各種主要免疫臓器の病理組織像においても, 両群とも異常は認められず, また大豆抽出物に対するIgE, IgG抗体価とも両群において差はみられなかった.

Pyrolysis High-Resolution Gas Chromatography equipped with a Doubleshot Pyrolyzer and a metal capillary column were used in order to identify components of polyurethanes. Polymer glycols used are PTMG, PPG, PEA, PBA, PMPA, PCL and PMVL. TDI, HDI, NDI and MDI as diisocyanates and BD, MOCA, TMP, EDA and HMDA as chain extenders were used. The pyrograms of polyurethanes were compared with the referential pyrograms of polymer glycols, diisocyanates and chain extenders as raw materials in detail. These results showed that the main constituents as raw materials can be identified easily by means of pattern analyses of the pyrograms of polyurethanes.

本研究では空間ワーキングメモリ能力と認知距離の歪みの関係について調べた。実験では、コルシーブロックテストを用いて実験参加者の空間ワーキングメモリ能力が測定された。次いで、彼らは記憶した地図を頼りに、対になった地点間の距離を推定した。2地点の間の通過点数は、0から2であった。推定距離は、空間ワーキングメモリ能力に関係なく、通過点数に応じて増加した。本結果は、先行研究において、視覚ワーキングメモリ能力が高い実験参加者の推定距離では通過点の効果が示されず、視覚ワーキングメモリの能力が低い実験参加者の推定距離では効果が示されたこととは対象的であった。これらの結果は、視覚ワーキングメモリは空間ワーキングメモリと比較して、視覚的に憶えた距離の認知により強く関わるという観点から考察された。

運動療法は、インスリン感受性を改善し、骨格筋へのブドウ糖取り込みを増加させることから、糖尿病患者において有用な治療法である。本研究では、糖尿病犬に対する運動療法が血液生化学パラメーターおよび骨格筋遺伝子発現にどのような影響を及ぼすかを検討した。空腹時血糖値は運動前後で有意な変動は認められなかった。しかし、糖化アルブミン(GA)および遊離脂肪酸は運動後有意に低下した。インスリンシグナリングおよび糖代謝に関連する遺伝子(インスリンレセプター基質1および2、ホスファチジルイノシトール3キナーゼ、aktキナーゼ2、グルコーストランスポーター4、AMP活性化プロテインキナーゼ、脱共益蛋白3およびアセチルCoAカルボキシラーゼ)の発現には運動前後で有意な変化は認められなかった。本実験結果より、運動療法を行うことでGAの低下をもたらし、糖尿病犬において血糖コントロールが改善された。

Three-dimensional (3D) ultrasonography has been shown to be an accurate and appropriate tool for measurement of gallbladder volume in humans. Therefore, we applied this novel technique for the first time to study fasting and postprandial gallbladder volume in 10 healthy dogs and compared the results with those of two-dimensional (2D) ultrasonography. Fasting gallbladder volumes determined by 3D ultrasonography were significantly higher than corresponding volumes determined by 2D ultrasonography (P<0.01). Additionally, gallbladder volumes were significantly decreased in the postprandial state compared with the fasting state using 3D ultrasonography (P<0.001), but 2D ultrasonography showed no significant difference (P=0.189). The Gallbladder contraction index was higher in 3D ultrasonography than 2D ultrasonography; however, it did not reach statistical significance (P=0.25). In conclusion, 3D ultrasonography was able to measure gallbladder volume in healthy dogs in this study. It is suggested that 3D ultrasonography can be used to accurately estimate gallbladder volume and contractility.

This paper describes a liquid chromatography inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (LC-ICP-MS) method for the determination of low-level sulfite in dry vegetables and fruits. Aqueous 0.1% solution of formaldehyde was chosen as extraction solution for releasing the bound sulfite and forming the more stable hydroxymethanesulfonate (HMS). Sulfite was separated using an anion exchange column with isocratic elution by a 50 mmol•L−1 ammonium nitrate in 0.1% formaldehyde solution (pH 7). Sulfite was detected as 32S16O+ by ICP-MS in DRC O2 gas mode. In the optimum conditions, the linearity of the method is 0.05 – 5 mg•L−1 for sulfite, and the detection limit is 0.02 mg•L−1. The results demonstrated that the method achieved acceptable quantitative recoveries of 78.5% to 91.6% with relative standard deviations (RSDs) < 5%. Compared to the AOAC official method, the proposed method presented advantages of rapid and sensitive.

狂犬病予防法は91日齢未満の幼齢犬にワクチン接種義務を課していない.このようなワクチン未接種幼齢犬は,移行抗体による防御免疫を有する場合もあるが,その消失に伴い免疫を失うと考えられる.狂犬病発生時,幼齢犬が本病の拡大や人への伝播に関与する可能性もあるが,国内での抗体保有状況に関する報告は少なく,その実態は明らかではない.そのため,91日齢未満の幼齢犬における狂犬病中和抗体の保有状況を調査し,狂犬病発生時を考え,家庭で飼育されている幼齢犬の狂犬病ワクチン接種後の中和抗体価の推移を調査した.その結果,中和抗体価8倍以上の幼齢犬は,216頭中34頭と少なかった.幼齢犬への狂犬病ワクチン接種後の中和抗体価は,一時的な上昇にとどまるか,十分に上昇しなかった.しかし,その後の追加接種により感染防御が可能な有効抗体価が得られた.

Background:Serelaxin, a recombinant form of human relaxin-2, is in development for treating acute heart failure (AHF) and a Phase II study in Japanese AHF patients was conducted.Methods and Results:A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of serelaxin at 10 and 30 µg·kg–1·day–1continuous intravenous infusion for up to 48 h, added to standard care for Japanese AHF patients. Primary endpoints were adverse events (AEs) through Day 5, serious AEs (SAEs) through Day 14, and serelaxin pharmacokinetics. Secondary endpoints included changes in systolic blood pressure (SBP) and cardiorenal biomarkers. A total of 46 patients received the study drug and were followed for 60 days. The observed AE profile was comparable between the groups, with no AEs of concern. Dose-dependent increase in the serum concentration of serelaxin was observed across the 2 dose rates of serelaxin. A greater reduction in SBP was observed with serelaxin 30 µg·kg–1·day–1vs. placebo (–7.7 [–16.4, 1.0] mmHg). A greater reduction in NT-proBNP was noted with serelaxin (–50.8% and –54.9% for 10 and 30 µg·kg–1·day–1, respectively at Day 2).Conclusions:Serelaxin was well tolerated in this study with Japanese AHF patients, with no AEs of concern and favorable beneficial trends on efficacy. These findings support further evaluation of serelaxin 30 µg·kg–1·day–1in this patient population.

Background:SYMPLICITY HTN-Japan is a prospective, randomized, controlled trial comparing renal artery denervation (RDN) with standard pharmacotherapy for treatment of resistant hypertension (systolic blood pressure [SBP] ≥160 mmHg on ≥3 anti-hypertensive drugs including a diuretic for ≥6 weeks). When SYMPLICITY HTN-3 failed to meet the primary efficacy endpoint, the HTN-Japan enrollment was discontinued before completion.Methods and Results:The 6-month change in office and 24-h ambulatory SBP were compared between RDN (n=22) and control (n=19) subjects. Mean baseline office SBP was 181.0±18.0 mmHg and 178.7±17.8 mmHg for the RDN and control groups, respectively. The 6-month office SBP change was –16.6±18.5 mmHg for RDN subjects (P<0.001) and –7.9±21.0 mmHg for control subjects (P=0.117); the difference between the 6-month change in RDN and control subjects was –8.64 (95% CI: –21.12 to 3.84, P=0.169). Mean 24-h SBP was 164.7±18.3 (RDN group) and 163.3±17.2 mmHg (control group). The 24-h 6-month SBP change for the RDN group was –7.52±11.98 mmHg (P=0.008) and –1.38±10.2 mmHg (P=0.563) for control subjects; the between-group difference in SBP change was –6.15 (95% CI: –13.23 to 0.94, P=0.087). No major adverse events were reported.Conclusions:SYMPLICITY HTN-Japan, the first randomized controlled trial of RDN in an Asian population, was underpowered for the primary endpoint analysis and did not demonstrate a significant difference in 6-month BP change between RDN and control subjects.

Background:Anticoagulation is recommended as standard of care for venous thromboembolism (VTE) (pulmonary embolism [PE]/deep vein thrombosis [DVT]), for which unfractionated heparin (UFH) and warfarin are used in Japan. In the multi-regional AMPLIFY study, a fixed-dose regimen of apixaban alone was non-inferior to conventional therapy for treatment of PE/DVT and was associated with significantly fewer bleeding events.Methods and Results:Japan phase 3 study (AMPLIFY-J), randomized, active-controlled, open-label study in Japanese subjects with acute PE/DVT, was designed based on AMPLIFY. Key objectives were to investigate safety and efficacy of apixaban in symptomatic PE/DVT subjects during 24-week treatment. UFH/warfarin was used as control treatment. Apixaban was initiated at 10 mg twice daily for 7 days, followed by 5 mg twice daily for 23 weeks. All endpoints and imaging for thrombotic burden were assessed by an event adjudication committee. Eighty subjects were randomized, 33 subjects (41.3%) were aged <65 years. Proportion of major/clinically relevant non-major bleeding was lower in apixaban (7.5%) compared with well-controlled UFH/warfarin (28.2%; median TTR, 70.1%). Recurrent VTE occurred in no subjects in apixaban and in 1 subject in UFH/warfarin. Thrombotic burden results were similar in both groups. Proportions of subjects with adverse events was generally similar in both groups.Conclusions:Apixaban was well-tolerated and had a favorable safety profile. No clinically important efficacy difference compared with UFH/warfarin was observed.
