In 1993, Vanherweghem and his associates reported cases of rapidly progressive renal interstitial fibrosis in young women who were administered a slimming regimen including Chinese herbs. Subsequently, similar cases have been reported. In Japan, especially in the Kansai area, several cases of Chinese herbs nephropathy have already been reported. We experienced a patient suffering from Chinese herbs nephropathy(CHN), and further detected aristolochic acids from the Chinese herbs taken by the patient. Aristolochic acids are known to be causative agents of CHN. The danger of CHN should be noted as soon as possible and drugs containing aristolochic acids should be prohibited.

〔目的〕自然立位の脊柱アライメントと肩甲骨位置と肩甲上腕関節外転可動域の関係について検証した.〔対象〕運動器障害のない成人男性40名(25±5歳)とした.〔方法〕測定肢位は自然立位とし,頸部屈曲角,円背指数,骨盤傾斜角,胸郭周径,肩甲骨位置,肩甲上腕関節外転可動域を測定した.統計解析として,重回帰分析で脊柱アライメント,肩甲骨位置,肩甲上腕関節外転可動域の関連性を検討した.〔結果〕胸椎後弯と胸郭周径,肩甲骨位置に特に高い関連性があった.〔結論〕骨盤前傾,腰椎前弯・胸椎後弯・胸郭周径の増大による肩甲骨の外転・上方回旋が示唆された.肩甲骨は胸郭上にあるため,胸椎弯曲・胸郭形状から大きな影響を受けると考えられる.

〔目的〕超音波画像診断装置を用いて安静時と足関節前方引き出しテスト(ADT)時における前距腓靱帯(ATFL)の伸張距離の計測を行い,検者内および検者間の再現性を調べること。〔対象〕過去1年以内に足関節捻挫の既往がある大学生8名10足。〔方法〕8 MHzのリニアプローブを足関節前外側部にあて,安静時およびADT時における超音波画像撮影を行った。PC上にて距骨-外果の骨間距離をATFL伸張距離として計測し,検者内および検者間の再現性について級内相関係数(ICC)を用いて調べた。また,安静時およびADT時の距骨-外果距離を対応のあるt検定で比較した。〔結果〕安静時,ADT時ともに検者内および検者間において高い再現性が得られた。安静時の外果-距骨間距離は16.5±3.9 mm,ADT時では20.0±4.9 mmであり,両者に有意な差を認めた。〔結語〕安全性および高い再現性から,足関節捻挫群に対するADTに超音波画像を併用する定量評価の有用性が確認された。

心臓は戻ってくる以上の血液を拍出することはできない。従って静脈還流の機序を理解することは重要である。 静脈のコンプライアンスは動脈の約30倍と非常に高い。総血液量のうち約70%が静脈系に局在し,血液のリザーバーとして機能している。なかでも内臓の静脈のコンプライアンスは高く,また総血液量の20%と容量も多い。さらに密にアドレナリンα受容体が分布し血液量の変化に対して静脈還流を調節する重要な役割を果たしている。 本稿ではreturn functionともいうべき静脈系の生理と静脈還流調節の機序について概説する。

On Religiousness of Modern Art This article discusses a religious aspect of art based on Schelling’s thesis that an art work is an unconscious identity of the ideal and the real, while critically considering the meaning of the recent artistic movement. The main character of modern art is relativity. Its supporters claim that everything could be an art work. However, from the philosophy of art perspective it must represent some idea, and romantic philosophers even sought the absolute meaning of art. For Schopenhauer, art was liberation from existence, and for Nietzsche reconciliation with it. Both recognize the essence of the world in art, which is not an individual fantasy but an ultimate reality. The following discussion regards the Apollonian art as reality of reason in relation to nature and the Dionysian art as that of god in relation to mythology. Thereby, Schelling’s philosophy of nature and that of mythology offer a deep insight into the identity of being and consciousness. It seems that modern art, whose tendency is thoroughly nihilistic, is far away from such an idea, but the article concludes that it has a strong possibility of the revelation.

口コミの影響力を考えるにあたって、ランダムサンプリングによる質問紙調査を実施し、新たな知人の定義のもとに電話帳法による知人数推定をおこなったところ、先行研究のインターネット調査との異同がみられた。日本人の「連絡の取れる人」の数の平均は129.9人だったが、インターネット利用者のほうがその人数は多かった。

This article takes a historical approach to the legal status of the Japanese in the Dutch East Indies with particular emphasis on the law making process. It is widely known that the Dutch government made a legal distinction between its colonial population as Europeans and “inlanders (natives).” The criterion of this distinction was that the concerned group could be regarded as either “civilized” or not. According to the law, the Japanese were classified as “inlanders” until the introduction of the Japanese Law. However, as the navigation treaty between the Dutch and Japanese governments concluded in 1896, the Dutch government was confronted with whether or not to change the legal status of the Japanese in the East Indies. They subsequently enacted the so-called Japanese Law to elevate the Japanese from “inlanders” to quasi-Europeans. A parliamentary discussion regarding this law reveals the notion of civilization held by the law-makers and Dutch politicians. In addition, this article describes how the Japanese recognize this law in relation to its social significance in the East Indies.

距腿関節は背屈位で骨性の安定性が得られるとされるが,生体にて骨性の安定性を検証した報告は存在しない。本研究では,距腿関節最大背屈位において,回旋方向の骨性の安定性が不完全な状態を『足関節背屈位動揺性(AUM)』と定義し,若年アスリートを対象とした存在率の調査を行い,足関節背屈内旋エクササイズが動揺性に及ぼす効果を検証した。他動背屈内旋テスト・荷重位内旋テストにより,足関節背屈位動揺性は高い存在率を示した。エクササイズにより足関節背屈位動揺性の軽減傾向は認められたが,パフォーマンスに有意な改善は認めなかった。若年アスリートの多くにAUM が存在し,足関節背屈内旋エクササイズが動揺性を軽減させる可能性が示唆された。

近年,胆汁酸吸着レジンであるコレスチミドには,血中コレステロール値を低下させるだけでなく,血糖値を低下させる作用を併せ持つことが報告されている. 胆汁酸とエネルギー代謝との関連が明らかになってきており,コレスチミドの血糖降下作用のメカニズムにも胆汁酸分画の変化が関与している可能性もある. われわれは,外来通院中で高LDLコレステロール血症を伴う2型糖尿病患者19例に対しコレスチミドを12週間投与し,血中胆汁酸分画の変化と血糖降下作用との関連を検討した. 投与後,血中LDLコレステロール値の低下とともに,臍周囲径,空腹時血糖値,HbA_[1C],HOMA-Rの有意な低下を認めた. しかし, 血中総胆汁酸濃度とその分画の濃度には変化を認めず,HbA_[1c] や臍周囲径の変化との相関関係も認められなかった.コレスチミドによる血糖降下作用は,血中胆汁酸分画の変化とは関連せず,他の機序が関与していることが示唆された.

8.2mのすばる望遠鏡と0.25平方度の広視野を持つ主焦点カメラSuprime-Camを組み合わせて、見かけの等級が約20-24等という微小メインベルト小惑星を100個同時に検出し、それらのライトカーブを得た。それらの自転周期分布を調べた結果、「全体の約25%が自転周期2時間以下のいわゆる高速自転小惑星である」という驚くべき結果を得た。高速自転小惑星はこれまで近地球小惑星のグループだけに発見されていたが、我々の結果はこれまで調べられていなかったメインベルトの微小サイズの小惑星には大きい割合で高速自転小惑星が存在することを示唆している。

It is known that flying fish perform long-range flight in the air in order to escape from predators such as tuna and swordfish. During the unsteady flight, ground effect enables the flying fish execute to flight for the maximum range and longest time. In this study, it was investigated a basic characteristic of the flow around the flying fish fin in ground effect, in order to understand the flying fish gliding performance quantitatively. The streamwise velocity profiles around the airfoil model were measured by a high time-resolved PIV (particle image velocimetry) in an open loop wind tunnel. A moving ground essential to generate the ground effect was supplied using a rotating disk. Two plates were put in tandem as the test wing model of a pectoral fin and a ventral fin of the flying fish. It was found that decreasing the height of the airfoil model caused a larger difference between the velocity in the suction surface side and that in the pressure surface side of the pectoral fin model.
