We propose the real-time Q-MDP value method for decision making of a robot under uncertain state recognition. When the computation result of a control problem is known on the assumption that recognition is certain, the original Q-MDP value method decides an appropriate action based on uncertain recognition. The method is not suitable for real-time decision making due to the complexity of probability calculation. In the real-time Q-MDP value method, a particle filter that is utilized for state estimation is directly used for the probability calculation. The proposed method can make it possible to execute the Q-MDP value method in real-time. The proposed method is applied to total behavior of a goalkeeper for robot soccer competition. Experiments and actual games have suggested that this method can decide actions effectively according as uncertain result of state estimation.

A 13-month-old female Newfoundland dog suffered from urinary bladder tumor. Histologically the tumor consisted of round or fusiform cells, occasionally having eosinophilic cytoplasms. Apparent mature rhabdomyoblasts possessing elongated eosinophilic cytoplasm and cross striations were infrequently observed. The tumor cells exhibited immuno-positive for anti-myoglobin, desmin and vimentin antibodies. Ultrastructurally, tumor cells have abundant myofibrils in their cytoplasm and Z bands were also detected. The present tumor was diagnosed as a urinary bladder rhabdomyosarcoma in a Newfoundland dog, which has not been frequently reported in dogs.

This study investigated the effect of diurnal thermal changes on the circadian rhythm of human core body temperature, together with secondary effects on other psycho-physiological functioning and intellectual performance. Four male subjects (23 - 25 years of age) were observed under three experimental temperature cycles in a climate chamber. In Case 1, the temperature remained fixed at 24°C (control); in Case 2, a constant temperature of 24°C during the morning and the afternoon was raised to 27°C at 6 PM and remained constant during the evening, to evaluate the effects of body heating before sleep; in Case 3, the temperature control schedule is similar to Case 2 with the exception of the changing time, not at 6 PM but at noon, to reflect the normal circadian increase in core body temperature (CBT) in the afternoon. The change of the thermal environment caused amplitude increment or phase advance in rectal temperature (RT). Measurements based on electrocardiographs, salivary cortisol levels, psychological measurement tools and intellectual tests illustrated the beneficial effects of the temperature control. The results reveal that control of the thermal environment in spaces based on the circadian rhythm may regulate RT rhythm, leading to improvement in psycho-physiological state and intellectual performance of occupants.
