形状記憶合金ニテノールを使用した新しい人工尿道括約筋およびpenileprosthesisを試作した。人工尿道括約筋の構造は、馬蹄状にした一方向記憶ワイヤーあるいは二方向板バネの周囲に加温用ニクロム線を巻きつけ、これをシリコンゴムで包埋したものである。またpenile prosthesisは一方向記憶合金を束ね、その周囲に加温用ニクロム線を巻きシリコンゴムでシリンダ一状に包埋したものである。これらのprosthesisは直流電源あるいはバッテリーによって加温されると、あらかじめ記憶させた形状に変態動作し、目的を達するよう工夫されたものである。加温電力,変態時間,応用,表面温度を基礎的に検討したが、いずれも問題なく、またpenile prosthesisは適度な擬弾性が認められ臨床的使用に耐え得るものと考えられた。また犬を用いた人工尿道括約筋埋め込み実験からは、排尿,蓄尿という二つの作用が本デバイスによってコントロールされることが確認された。

Since gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGT) is highly and locally expressed in human breast cancer, a GGT-enzymatically activatable fluorescent probe, gamma-glutamyl hydroxymethyl rhodamine green (gGlu-HMRG), has been developed to detect the human breast cancer area with high performance. In this study, GGT expression and the efficacy of gGlu-HMRG on visualization were investigated in canine mammary gland tumors (MGT). Seventeen non-fixed fresh-frozen MGT specimens and each peritumoral control tissue were utilized. The GGT mRNA levels were highly observed in the tumor specimens compared with the control. GGT immunostaining was mostly observed on the cell membrane and cytosol of the alveolar and duct mammary epithelium of MGT tissues. These signals were strongly positive in several cases while they were mild to not observed in other cases. When gGlu-HMRG solution was dropped to the non-fixed tissue pieces of MGT or control tissues, the fluorescence intensities (FIs) were measured using Maestro in-vivo imaging device. FIs in MGT tissues were significantly higher than each control tissue 20 min after treatment. Based on Youden index method said that the maximum sensitivity and specificity of FI was 82.4% and 82.4%. These findings suggest that GGT is highly expressed in several MGTs in dogs and gGlu-HMRG could visualize at least a part of MGT tissues in dogs. Nevertheless, it should be needed to assess the false-negative areas more carefully in canine than human cases.

The following article deals with the concept of modernity in the humanities. The term "modernity" is commonly used but its associations can cause some difficulties in understanding historical processes. In this article, the activities of the pedagogue and bureaucrat Izawa Shuji and the Music Study Committee on the Introduction of Western Music in Meiji-Era Japan will be examined to illuminate these problems. The focus is placed on two aspects of the modernization narrative: first, the tendency to interpret processes and changes within a society from a generalized perspective, which often leads to overlooking conflicts or antagonisms within a society, and, second, the fact that modernization is generally understood as a process of rationalization, which is insufficient to explain certain processes.

Purpose: Studies on quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) have reported an increase in magnetic susceptibilities in patients with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Despite the pathological importance of the brain surface areas, they are sometimes excluded in QSM analysis. This study aimed to reveal the efficacy of QSM analysis with brain surface correction (BSC) and/or vein removal (VR) procedures.Methods: Thirty-seven AD patients and 37 age- and sex-matched, cognitively normal (CN) subjects were included. A 3D-gradient echo sequence at 3T MRI was used to obtain QSM. QSM images were created with regularization enabled sophisticated harmonic artifact reduction for phase data (RESHARP) and constrained RESHARP with BSC and/or VR. We conducted ROI analysis between AD patients and CN subjects who did or did not undergo BSC and/or VR using a t-test, to compare the susceptibility values after gray matter weighting.Results: The susceptibility values in RESHARP without BSC were significantly larger in AD patients than in CN subjects in one region (precentral gyrus, 8.1 ± 2.9 vs. 6.5 ± 2.1 ppb) without VR and one region with VR (precentral gyrus, 7.5 ± 2.8 vs. 5.9 ± 2.0 ppb). Three regions in RESHARP with BSC had significantly larger susceptibilities without VR (precentral gyrus, 7.1 ± 2.0 vs. 5.9 ± 2.0 ppb; superior medial frontal gyrus, 5.7 ± 2.6 vs. 4.2 ± 3.1 ppb; putamen, 47,8 ± 16.5 vs. 40.0 ± 15.9 ppb). In contrast, six regions showed significantly larger susceptibilities with VR in AD patients than in CN subjects (precentral gyrus, 6.4 ± 1.9 vs. 4.9 ± 2.7 ppb; superior medial frontal gyrus, 5.3 ± 2.7 vs. 3.7 ± 3.3 ppb; orbitofrontal cortex, –2.1 ± 2.7 vs. –3.6 ± 3.2 ppb; parahippocampal gyrus, 0.1 ± 3.6 vs. –1.7 ± 3.7 ppb; putamen, 45.0 ± 14.9 vs. 37.6 ± 14.6 ppb; inferior temporal gyrus, –3.4 ± 1.5 vs. –4.4 ± 1.5 ppb).Conclusion: RESHARP with BSC and VR showed more regions of increased susceptibility in AD patients than in CN subjects. This study highlights the efficacy of this method in facilitating the diagnosis of AD.

18~52歳の月経周期のある健康な女性193名を10代,20~24歳,25~34歳,35歳以上の4つのリプロダクティブステージに分類し,月経及び月経痛に関する実態調査を実施した。結果①規則的な月経周期の割合は,リプロダクティブステージが進むにつれ増加し,経血量は減少傾向を示した。②月経痛はリプロダクティブステージの進行と共に軽減し,鎮痛剤使用頻度,日常生活への影響が少なくなる傾向を認めた。③各リブログクティブステージの特徴は,10代では月経痛の頻度や日常労作への影響が最も多く,血塊の出現率が最も高率であった。20~24歳は10代と類似していたが,鎮痛剤使用頻度は最も高率であった。25~34歳では最も安定した性成熟状態を示し,月経痛は「時々あり」が最も高率であったが,血塊の出現率が高かった。35歳以上では月経痛のない人が最も高率であり,生活への支障が最も少なかったが,「1日3回以上」の鎮痛剤使用は他のリプロダクティブステージと変わらなかった。以上の結果に加えてリプロダクティブステージにおける月経周期や経血量の特徴を考えあわせると,身体的な性成熟機能と心理社会的側面を考慮し,各リプロダクティブステージに適した月経痛への対応が必要であると考える。

ウェーブメモリ(NF製WM-852)とマイクロコンピュータ(日立製ベーシックマスターレベル3マーク5)を用いて、積算器を製作した。記憶容量は、1024ワード、サンプリング時間は、50n秒から1秒、積算回数は、最高256回である。通常の積算器に比較して、より高速性を得ることができた。コンピュータ言語は、アセンブラおよびベーシックを用いた。Signal Averager is constructed using wave memory (NF product: WM-852) and microcomputer (Hitachi product: BASIC MASTER LEVEL 3 MARK 5). Memory capacity, sampling time, and averaging number of the signal averager are 1024 words, 50 n sec~1 sec, and maximum 256, respectively. Sweep time of high speed compared with conventional averager is realized with our apparatus. BASIC and ASSEMBLER are used for computer language.
