Rheology of the Earth's crust and mantle is simulated by the plastic behaviour of the polycrystalline quartz and plagioclase, olivine, spinel and perovskite, respectively. To infer the dynamics of the Earth's interior reaching the core-mantle boundary, it needs to study the constitutive flow laws and preferred lattice orientation formation of these crustal and mantle materials. The aim of this paper is to review the recent development of the rheological study of these processes and to add the new constraints on the seismically anisotropic convective mantle.

Nitric oxide (NO) has been shown to elicit both favorable and unfavourable effects on gastrointestinal (GI) system. NO is generated from L-arginine by two different types of NO synthase (NOS) . One type of NOS, constitutive NOS (cNOS), is con-stitutively expressed by endothelial cells (eNOS) and by neural cells (nNOS) . cNOS-derived NO causes a variety of physiogical effects by stimulating guanylate cyclase-cylic GMP system, effects genereally beneficial to GI system. For example, nNOS-derived NO modulates GI motility. eNOS-derived NO increases mucosal blood flow, and stimulates production of mucus and HCO3-, all of which enhance mucosal defense and repair system. Based on these background, several attemps have been made to use NO as a therapeutic drugs. For example, tetraprenylacetone (teprenone) has been shown to enhance gastric mucosal restitution by upregulating cNOS activity. NO-releasing NSAIDs have been developed to mitigate NSAIDs induced mucosal injury by protection afforded by NO. In contrast, other type of NOS, inducible NOS (iNOS), is transiently expressed in macrophages in response to stimuli, such as bacterial invasion. iNOS generates huge amount of NO, that pre-vents invasion of bacteria, but causes serious injury in host tissues. For example, Helicobacter pylori upregulates iNOS expression in gastric mucosa, and enhances release of NO, thereby accelerating epithelial cell apoptosis. In chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, inceased expression of mucosal iNOS is closely associated with developement of mucosal injury. However, it should be noted that in certain circum-stances iNOS affords mucosal protection against noxious stimuli, and promotes mucosal repair after injury.

ゲームAI が誰よりも強くなることを目的とした研究は多くあるが,それを一般のプレイヤーのために活用するのは難しい.また,プレイヤーが対戦を楽しむためには,その対戦相手の実力が同じくらいであることが重要である.そこで本研究ではオセロを題材とし,同程度の実力を持ったプレイヤーのマッチングや実力の差に応じた適切なハンディキャップの掛け方に貢献することを目的に,オセロプレイヤーのレーティングを推定する式を棋譜を解析することによって定義した.そして,10 人のプレイヤーの棋譜からレーティングを推定し,実際のレーティングと比較することで,この手法の正しさを検証した.その結果,適切にレーティングを推定することはできなかった.今後はレーティングを推定する式の定義方法の改良が課題である.

The presence of an atmosphere on Mars signifies that an aircraft could travel in its atmosphere using the aerodynamic forces of flight. A reconnaissance aircraft offers the possibility to obtain high resolution data on a regional scale of several hundreds to thousands of kilometers, which cannot be achieved with rovers or satellites. However, conventional aircraft design cannot be applied for a Mars Airplane because of the nature of the Martian atmosphere and the constraints from transportation from Earth to Mars. This paper presents the conceptual design of a fixed-wing airplane for Mars, and the design rationale undertaken following the constraints set by the Martian environment. As a result, the main wing area was calculated to be 1.2 m2. It was folded using two hinges to be packed into an aeroshell. The proposed Mars Airplane has four notches on its main wing. They make packing easier to keep the wing area maximized, making the Mars Airplane more compact.

工作機械や半導体製造装置の送り駆動系には,一般的に直動転がり案内機構としてボールガイドが用いられている.特に近年採用されつつあるリニアモータを用いた送り駆動系では,接触が直動転がり案内部分のみとなるため,送り駆動系の摩擦特性は直動転がり案内の特性に大きく依存する.本研究では,ボールガイドの球径が,送り駆動系全体の摩擦挙動に及ぼす影響を実験的に解析している.

In Tiantai doctrine, naraka is known as one of the ten realms of living beings (十界). In China many Buddist scriptures that had a well-organized description about naraka had already been translated and written in the Northern and Southern dynasties. It follows that Zhiyi (智〓) developed ideas such as that each of the ten realms contains the other nine within itself (十界互具), in times when fear of naraka was common. In this report I take up some problems about naraka which are derived from the four-word phrase about Sila and Yana (戒乗四句) in "<i>Mohe Ziguan</i> (摩詞止観)".

中学校2年で学習をする気象の単元は「天気の変化」である。気象の学習で基本となるところは、雲の発生についてであり、飽和水蒸気量と露点、湿度および温度の関係が理解できていないことが雲の発生のしくみを理解する際のつまずきを招く。本研究では、飽和水蒸気量と温度と湿度の関係を生徒に理解させることを目的として、隈元の実験方法に改良を加えることで、飽和水蒸気量の温度依存から湿度変化を理解することを促す授業を計画し実践した。授業では、まず温度が高くなると湿度が高くなるという概念のもとになっている夏と冬の気象の特徴について、生徒へのアンケートを実施した。約4割の生徒が湿度に関する特徴を答えていた。次に、湿度計を入れた密閉容器を食器乾燥機で温め、湿度が下がることを確認した後でその理由を考えさせた。理由を正確に説明できた生徒は28名中9名であったが、グループ討議をすると、友達どうしで飽和水蒸気量のグラフを使って教え合う姿が見られた。

【目的】要支援・要介護高齢者の身体活動量とアパシーの関連を明らかにすること。【方法】要支援・要介護高齢者65 名に対して,Physical activity scale for the elderly(以下,PASE),アパシー,Health locus of control(以下,HLC),主観的健康感,Short physical performance battery(以下,SPPB)の評価を行った。統計解析ではPASE を三分位し低・中等度・高身体活動群として,各変数の3 群間比較を行った。またPASE と各評価項目の関連について重回帰分析を行った。【結果】高身体活動群と比較し,低身体活動群でアパシースコア,HLC 尺度,SPPB の4 m 歩行時間実測値で有意に悪い値となっていた。また,重回帰分析では,アパシースコアと4 m 歩行時間が抽出された。【結論】要支援・要介護高齢者の身体活動量には,アパシーと歩行速度で関連が認められた。

OISは日銀が量的緩和政策を解除した06年3月頃から徐々に取引が増え始め,06年7月のゼロ金利解除以降,取引残高と件数がともに拡大傾向となった。07年に入ってからは,日銀の追加利上げ観測を背景にOIS市場は活況を呈した。07年5月現在でOIS取引に参加しているのは,欧州系を中心とした外資系の金融機関が大半であるが,一部の邦銀や証券会社の参加も若干観測されている。TIBORやユーロ円の金融先物取引を用いても,市場が日銀の政策変更をどの程度予想しているかを分析することは可能である。しかし,OISの決定会合間取引は次回の決定会合までの翌日物金利の予想をベースに取引するため,他の金融商品と比較した場合,市場が予想している金融政策変更に関する情報を得るにはより適していると考えられる。
