We propose “Dripcast,” a new server-less Java programming framework for billions of IoT (Internet of Things) devices. The framework makes it easy to develop device applications working with a cloud, that is, scalable computing resources on the Internet. The framework consists of two key technologies; (1) transparent remote procedure call (2) mechanism to read, write and process Java objects with scale-out style distributed datastore. A great benefit of the framework is that there is no need to write a server-side program nor a database code. A very simple client-side program is enough to work with the framework, to read, write or process Java objects on a cloud. The mechanism is infinitely scalable since it works with scale-out technologies. In this paper, we describe the concept and the architecture of the Dripcast framework. We also implement the framework and evaluate from two points of views, 1) from the view point of scalability about cloud resources, 2) from the view point of method call encapsulation overhead in client IoT devices.

When second language (L2) learners produce and comprehend their target language, they are engaged in languaging, "a dynamic, never-ending process of using language to make meaning" (Swain, 2006, p. 96). According to Swain (2006), languaging is a major source of L2 learning. This paper investigates whether individuals learn an L2 more effectively when they language in response to written feedback that they receive than when they do not. I report the data from 24 students who engaged in a three-stage writing task: (1) writing a draft, (2) languaging about specific linguistic errors corrected in the draft, and (3) revising the draft. The average number of linguistic errors significantly decreased from the draft to its revision. Similarly, if an error was explained, it was more likely to be changed, whereas if an error was not explained, it was less likely to be changed. These findings suggest that languaging may have improved L2 writing accuracy. I point out several limitations of this study and conclude this paper by suggesting the need for further studies to examine the role of languaging in L2 learning.

ニンニクの鱗茎腐敗による地上部枯死(病名:乾腐病)を起因する <i>Fusarium oxysporum</i>の分化型を知るためにユリ科に関係ある既知分化型のf. sp. <i>cepae</i>(タマネギ), f. sp. <i>tulipae</i>(チューリップ), f. sp. <i>asparagi</i>(アスパラガス), f. sp. <i>lilii</i>(ユリ), f. sp. <i>allii</i>(ラッキョウ)との相互接種検討を行った。ニンニク菌(長野県産)はニンニクに対し鱗茎付傷接種・ポット土壌接種とも明瞭な病原性を示したが,他の供試分化型菌は病原性を示さなかった。なおニンニク菌は上記ユリ科植物やグラジオラス,スイセンほか14植物に対して病原性を示さなかった。以上の結果からニンニク菌に対し<i>Fusarium oxysporum</i> Schl. f. sp. <i>garlic</i>なる新分化型名を与えたいと思う。

科学技術振興事業団(JST)では平成10年9月より,Windows PC上で動作する日英機械翻訳システムの販売を開始した。JSTは平成2年度より英文抄録を作成するためにメインフレーム版のシステムを運用し,整備してきた。Windows版システムは,このメインフレーム版を元に開発したものである。約60万語のシステム辞書を有しており,科学技術分野の文章の翻訳に優れた結果を得ることができる。ユーザー辞書等の機能を利用することにより,翻訳に要する時間や人手を大幅に削減することが可能である。また,機械翻訳に適した日本語を書くことにより,一層機械翻訳システムを有効に活用することができる。

<p>HbA1cの測定を外部の検査機関に委託した場合,測定値が低値になることがある.その理由として,全血の検体を冷蔵で搬送,保存した場合に,老化した赤血球ほど溶血しやすいことが挙げられる.全血の検体を長時間にわたって冷蔵保存した後に採血管を遠心し,その赤血球層を用いてHbA1cを測定する方法(HPLC法の一部,免疫法の一部および酵素法の一部)では,溶血の影響を受けにくいEDTA採血管を使用することが推奨され,血糖検査用のNaF入り採血管の使用は望ましくない.</p>

<p>isCGM(intermittent-scanning continuous glucose monitoring)の糖尿病者の心理的負担感を評価する目的で,46名にisCGM使用前後でPAID(problem areas in diabetes survey)を実施した.Wilcoxon matched pair signed rank test, logistic regression analysisにて解析した結果,PAID総得点はisCGM後に有意に低下した(p<0.0001). 問題領域別では'治療'(p<0.0001),'疾患'(p<0.01),'社会的サポート'(p<0.05)に有意な減少が認められた.isCGM後のPAID総得点減少と関連した予測因子に'年齢''男性''網膜症'が抽出された(p<0.05).</p>

<p>This paper aims to study the characteristics of houses with covered walkway structures locally called <i>Dalan</i> in the Asheqan wa Arefan quarter of Kabul Old City, Afghanistan. It examines their locations, distribution, access, the number of stories, plan types, space usages, and analysis of reasons for their construction and destruction. The house locations and their accessibility networks are indicated based on a satellite image followed by detailed field surveys conducted between 2018 and 2019. Conclusions are drawn for the conservation of <i>Dalans</i> as part of cultural heritage in the historical landscape.</p>

Water droplets produced by electrospray can introduce DNA into living cells. Charged droplets make transient holes for DNA transport. The number of DNA-introduced cells increased with increase in applied voltage. This technique can be applied to gene transfection into eukaryotic cells (CHO, Hela culture cells), tissue (chicken embryo) and prokaryotic cell (E. coli) and will be useful for industrial applications.

This paper proposes the use of reproduction, a basic translation training tool, as an instruction method for second language teaching. This method draws on findings from interpreting process research: constraints of working memory capacity and the role of non-linguistic (conceptual) representations during interpreting. The points of the method are summarized as segmentation, tagging, and working memory.

レンズ群の間隔を短縮して収納する沈胴式カメラでは小型化, 特に薄型化には限界がある. 我々はこの問題を解決するためにレンズ収納時にレンズ群の一部を光軸上から外して2段に収納するスライディング・レンズ・システムを開発した. このシステムを搭載した超薄型デジタルカメラについて報告する.

The production and utilization of biofuels is promoted in many countries and regions, and these markets are expected to expand in the future. Our study uses a dynamic partial equilibrium model to examine how Brazilian bioethanol production will impact Brazilian and world sugar markets. If the Brazilian government abolished anhydrous blends for gasoline beginning in 2013/14, the international sugar price would decrease by 12.4% by 2017/18. The study result shows that\ Brazilian bioethanol consumption has an impact on international sugar prices. While the lower international sugar price could be beneficial to sugar-consuming regions, it could damage sugar-producing and sugar-exporting countries that depend heavily on sugar exports. Thus, it is concluded that the Brazilian bioethanol policy has a floor price effect for the international sugar price and an important role in maintaining world sugar production and the sugar industry at a reproduction level.
