One of the major goals in evolutionary developmental biology is to elucidate the relationship between gene regulatory networks and the diverse morphologies. Segmentation in arthropod embryogenesis represents a well-known example of body plan diversity. Striped patterns of gene expression that lead to the future body segments appear simultaneously or sequentially, respectively. To reveal the basic differences in the network structure, we have numerically evolved hundreds of gene regulatory networks. By analyzing the topologies of the generated networks, we show that the characteristics of striped pattern are determined by Feed-Forward Loops (FFLs) and negative Feed-Back Loops (nFBLs).

持続可能な開発目標(Sustainable Development Goals:SDGs)の達成やパリ協定を睨みつつ,世界的な脱化石化,分散化,効用の電化のメガトレンドの中,変動性再エネの主力化の期待が高まっているが,変動性再エネ導入増の本質的な課題は時空間の需給ミスマッチの解消であり,調整力の柔軟性向上と大容量のエネルギーストレージが主たる対策である。対策間の技術的な連携・補完・競合を考慮しながら,電力安定供給のための対策技術として地内・地域間連系線の増強および広域運用,火力・水力発電の出力調整機能の増強,エネルギーストレージの観点でまとめ,最後に今後の展望とCO2削減技術のリスクを述べた。

Several boundaries of tectonic blocks can be defined as the lines linking large-scale active faults in Southwest Japan. Using available data concerning geology and geophysics, tectonic features of the block boundaries have been briefly reviewed. These features imply that Southwest Japan is separated into a few microplates. Based on the microplate model of Southwest Japan, sequential generation of large earthquakes including the 1995 M7.2 Hyogo-ken-nanbu earthquake can be interpreted. The Hyogo-ken-nanbu earthquake occurred in the middle of the 100-km long Takatsuki-Rokko-Awaji tectonic line (TATL). The aftershock distribution and the surface ruptures suggest that the main shock is caused by a 40-km long rupture of the central part of the TAIL. Thirty-kilometer long eastern and western parts of the TATL remain unruptured. The average moment-release rate of the 40-km central part of the TATL can be estimated from the slip-rate of constituent active faults. The magnitude of an earthquake generated at the central part can be predicted from the seismic moment, which is calculated from the moment-release rate and the elapsed time since the 1596 Keicho-Fushimi earthquake. The calculated magnitude of 6.8 to 7.2 is consistent with the actual magnitude of the Hyogo-ken-nanbu earthquake. If the eastern and western parts unruptured have the same slip-rate as that of the central part, the accumulated moments after the previous event amount to the earthquakes with a magnitude of 6.7 to 7.1. A two-meter right-lateral slip along the Nojima fault, which constitutes western-central part of the TATL, occurred at the time of the Hyogo-ken-nanbu earthquake. This slip may help a southward migration of the Kinki-Outer mircoplate. The movement may reduce normal stresses along the Median Tectonic Line and may increase stress concentration along the Nankai trough. The kinematics of the microplate and sequential generation of large earthquakes along the microplate boundaries suggest a high probability of generating an offshore earthquake along the Nankai trough in a period ranging from 2003 to 2040 A. D.

Objective This study retrospectively compared the outcomes of emergently admitted patients with aortic stenosis (AS) with or without urgent transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Methods Patients hospitalized between February 2015 and December 2019 for symptomatic AS were retrospectively analyzed by comparing the received conservative management (continued medical therapy with or without elective surgical transcatheter replacement [SAVR] or TAVR scheduled after the index hospitalization) and urgent TAVR (TAVR during the index hospitalization). Results The cohort comprised 114 patients with symptomatic AS who required emergency admission. Urgent TAVR was performed for 37 patients, while conservative management was provided for 77 patients, including 1 who received urgent SAVR. Urgent TAVR was more likely to be performed in patients with a history of hospitalization for heart failure, high New York Heart Association class scores, a lower clinical frailty scale at admission, and a high aortic valve peak velocity (P = 0.01, P <0.001, P <0.01, and P = 0.02, respectively). Kaplan-Meier analyses with log-rank test revealed favorable outcomes of urgent TAVR in all-cause mortality and cardiovascular events within 60 days of admission (p <0.01, p <0.01, respectively). Conclusions Urgent TAVR had better short-term outcomes in patients with symptomatic AS who required emergency hospital admission than conservative management. When considering urgent TAVR, patients with typical heart failure symptoms due to AS with a history of heart failure hospitalization and relatively little frailty can be selected.

In the finst place, I tried to make the meaning of the word dialectical "Contradiction" clear. It seems to me there are two usages of that term. The first, the contradiction in existence. The second, the contradiction in logical. It is my principal purpose in this two subject how we can get no contradiction.In my opinion, to find the contradiction in existence consists of Aristotle's principle of contradiction. As to the methodology of the expressional contradiction, for "Real Existence, " I took the cases of ideal dialectic and material dialectic, and analysed the relation between their expressional contradiction.

筆者は先に心下痞鞕と背部兪穴の関連を報告したところである。この報告において旁脊柱筋の硬結への施術によって心下痞鞕は消失するが,胸脇苦満は消失しないことを記した。そこで筆者は,改めて胸脇苦満と関連する背部諸筋の硬結を探索し,棘下筋の硬結が胸脇苦満と密接に関連することを発見した。またこの棘下筋硬結への施術が吃逆を改善することも見出した。棘下筋の硬結は肩こりなどでも現れるがその中に胸脇苦満と同時にあらわれるものがあることを明らかにした。本論文は棘下筋の硬結を手がかりに胸脇苦満が横隔膜の異常緊張と関連したものであることを具体的な2症例および15症例を基にその病態生理学的背景を明らかにしようと意図したものである。

A large shell mound called Mazukari shell-mound (YAMASHITA, 1978) was found in 1978 to be buried 12m under the ground surface, at Utsumi Town in the south part of the Chita Peninsula, Aichi Prefecture in Central Japan.Several hundred pieces of Kozanji-type pottery (the middle Earliest Stage of Jomon Age) are included in the collected remains. Tegillara granosa, dated at 8, 330±260y.B.P. (GaK-7950) occurred with these potteries. Many kinds of fossil shells, foraminifers as well as Akahoya Tephra (about 6, 300y.B.P.) were found in the Mazukari shell mound. These features and the 14C dating suggest that the sediments were formed by Jomon Transgression.There are Hayashinomine shell-mound, Shimizunoue shell-mound, Otofukudani remains and Shimobessho are near the Mazukari shell-mound. Patients on oral anticoagulant therapy present a clinical problem when they take large amounts of natto, because immoderate ingestion of natto results in reduction of the effect of warfarin so that thrombotest and PT-INR are adversely affected.We previously demonstrated an undesirable effect of immoderate ingestion of natto in a trial in patients given 100g of natto each. In the present study changes in blood levels of vitamins K were determined after the administration of reduced doses of 10 and 30g of natto.There was no change in blood levels of MK-4. Howevere, the blood levels of vitamin K1 increased from 0.53±0.26ng/ml to 0.72±0.25ng/ml at 4 hours after the administration of 10g of natto (p<0.001). After the administration of 30g of natto the blood level of vitamin K1 increased from 0.46±0.28ng/ml to 0.70±0.21ng/ml at 4 hours (p<0.001). The blood level of MK-7 increased from 0.58±0.15ng/ml to 2.43±0.77ng/ml at 4 hours, 1.66±0.69ng/ml at 24 hours, and 1.28±0.46ng/ml at 48 hours after the administration of 10g of natto (p<0.001).After the administration of 30g of natto the blood level of MK-7 increased from 0.57±0.18ng/ml to 7.24±2.92, 4.53±1.82, and 3.00±1.09ng/ml at the same time points as mentioned above, respectively (p<0.001).The results of this study suggest the wisdom of discouraging patients on anticoagulant therapy from taking natto, since it may reduce the effect of warfarin, be the amount ingested 30g or 10g insted of 100g.

ホウボウ科のミナミソコホウボウ(新称)Bovitrigla acanthomoplate Fowler, 1938 の1 標本が遠州灘から得られた。この種は日本初記録種であり、遠州灘における出現はこの種の北限記録となる。南シナ海産の10 個体と比較するとともに本種を詳細に再記載した。

Purpose: To evaluate the feasibility of breath-hold (BH) high-resolution (HR) T1-weighted gradient echo hepatobiliary phase (HBP) imaging using compressed sensing (CS) in gadoxetic acid-enhanced liver MRI in comparison with standard HBP imaging using parallel imaging (PI).Methods: The study included 122 patients with liver tumors with hypointensity in the HBP who underwent both HR HBP imaging with CS and standard HBP imaging with PI. Two radiologists evaluated the liver edge sharpness, hepatic vessel conspicuity, bile duct conspicuity, image noise, and overall image quality, as well as the lesion conspicuity on HR and standard HBP imaging and the contrast-enhanced (CE) MR cholangiography (MRC) image quality reconstructed from HBP images. As a quantitative analysis, the SNR of the liver and the liver to lesion signal intensity ratio (LLSIR) were also determined.Results: The liver edge sharpness, hepatic vessel conspicuity, bile duct conspicuity, and overall image quality as well as the lesion conspicuity and the LLSIR on HR HBP imaging with CS were significantly higher than those on standard HBP imaging (all of P < 0.001). The image quality of CE-MRC reconstructed from HR HBP imaging with CS was also significantly higher than that from standard HBP imaging (P < 0.001). Conversely, the SNR of liver in standard HBP was significantly higher than that in HR HBP with CS (P < 0.001).Conclusion: BH HR HBP imaging with CS provided an improved overall image quality, lesion conspicuity, and CE-MRC visualization when compared with standard HBP imaging without extending the acquisition time.

mRNA vaccines have attracted considerable attention as a result of the 2019 coronavirus pandemic; however, challenges remain regarding use of mRNA vaccines, including insufficient delivery owing to the high molecular weights and high negative charges associated with mRNA. These characteristics of mRNA vaccines impair intracellular uptake and subsequent protein translation. In the current study, we prepared a minimal mRNA vaccine encoding a tumor associated antigen human gp10025–33 peptide (KVPRNQDWL), as a potential treatment for melanoma. Minimal mRNA vaccines have recently shown promise at improving the translational process, and can be prepared via a simple production method. Moreover, we previously reported the successful use of iontophoresis (IP) technology in the delivery of hydrophilic macromolecules into skin layers, as well as intracellular delivery of small interfering RNA (siRNA). We hypothesized that combining IP technology with a newly synthesized minimal mRNA vaccine can improve both transdermal and intracellular delivery of mRNA. Following IP-induced delivery of a mRNA vaccine, an immune response is elicited resulting in activation of skin resident immune cells. As expected, combining both technologies led to potent stimulation of the immune system, which was observed via potent tumor inhibition in mice bearing melanoma. Additionally, there was an elevation in mRNA expression levels of various cytokines, mainly interferon (IFN)-γ, as well as infiltration of cytotoxic CD8+ T cells in the tumor tissue, which are responsible for tumor clearance. This is the first report demonstrating the application of IP for delivery of a minimal mRNA vaccine as a potential melanoma therapeutic.

本野原遺跡は,宮崎市の中心部から 50 km 西に位置する,約 4300 ~ 3500 年前の九州地方の縄文時代で最も大きな集落の一つである。我々は,36 回にわたるこの遺跡での 179,135 点の土器の「圧痕法」による調査によって,マメ類を含む 500 点以上の種実や家屋害虫の圧痕を発見した。この調査以前には植物性食料資源と推定されるものは本遺跡ではコナラ属の堅果類のみであった。X 線機器を用いた追加調査の結果,九州地方で最も多数のダイズやアズキなどのマメ類圧痕を得るとともに,九州初の多量マメ類混入土器を検出することができた。これらの発見は九州地方における最も初期のマメ類栽培と栽培植物の豊作に対する精神と儀礼的行為の出現の可能性を示す。さらに,土器胎土中の高密度のマメ類種子はそれらの粘土中への意図的混入を強く示唆している。

脳脊髄液(CSF)減少症の原因は,潜在的な外傷によるCSF漏出と説明されているが.1970年代以前はCSF漏出の有無にかかわらず,CSFの産生低下によって生じると推定されていた.Hosemann(1909),Haug(1932)は腰椎穿刺後CSF減少症の原因として,現在でいう体位性頻脈症候群(PoTS)による代償性のCSF産生低下を考察した.Schaltenbrand(1938,40)は自然発生性CSF減少症におけるキサントクロミーの存在を強調し,CSFの蛋白量は血管周囲腔由来のCSFの方が脈絡叢由来のCSFより高値のため,本症の原因は脈絡叢のCSF産生低下であると主張した.Geller(1940)はCSF減少症患者の大多数が基礎疾患としてPoTSを有することを報告した.最近,CSF減少症とPoTSの共存が示唆されており(Grafら,2018),1970年代以前の研究を再評価する必要がある.

This paper constitutes an attempt to develop an interpretation at the general and abstract level of the text of Article 23 of Japan’s Social Education Act, which regulates “management policy for community learning centers (kominkan),” or stated in more concrete terms, so-called “usage restrictions” on community learning centers. The discussion gives particular attention to specific cases (e.g., examples in practice), in reference to the Article’s Paragraph 2, which states that such facilities “shall not support specific religions or otherwise assist any specific denominations, sects, or cults.” The following points are revealed through this discussion.Community learning centers are not permitted to “support specific religions or otherwise assist any specific denominations, sects, or cults.” Accordingly, it is understood that simply allowing such groups the use of community learning centers does not amount to “support” or “assistance,” and thus does not constitute a problem.·There are no arguments against recognizing the right of the public administration to allocate permission to use community learning centers (kominkan), and it is necessary to enact laws and regulations governing permissible and impermissible use.·When processing applications for permission to use community learning centers (kominkan), value judgements on the part of the facilities’ operators are not permitted. Rather, such operations must be performed in accordance with uniform and neutral standards (subject to the limitations of the law).·Regarding the refusal of permission for applications to use community learning centers (kominkan), the interests benefitted by granting permission, in terms of protecting fundamental human rights, such as freedom of assembly, must be compared with the interests disadvantaged by the foreseeable dangers of granting permission (balancing of interests).·Regarding the determination of dangers, the mere probability of a dangerous situation arising is insufficient; rather, there needs to be a “clear and present danger.”·Notably, constraints of spiritual freedoms like freedom of assembly must be carried out under strict criteria that go beyond constraints governing freedom of economic activity.·The blanket application of usage restrictions includes the danger of constraining “freedom of assembly” (Article 21 of the Constitution of Japan).
