ABSTRACT: Ego-vehicle localization is a critical technology in autonomous driving systems, and one of the widely used methods for localization is scan matching between a 3D map and real-time LiDAR scan. This method is known to fail due to factors such as an incorrect initial position and orientation for scan matching. In this paper, we propose a simulator-based localization evaluation framework to verify the robustness of localization. By using a simulator, localization can be evaluated without driving a real vehicle, and can be evaluated by creating disturbances such as traffic jams. Our framework also allows to evaluate the robustness of localization by using multiple particles with random errors of the initial position and orientation for scan matching to simulate dead reckoning errors caused by multiple factors such as road surface conditions and tire diameter. In the evaluation experiments, we confirmed that the robustness of localization can be evaluated by applying this method to factors such as sensor setup, disturbances in the traffic environment, and the amount of 3D features in the environment.

Hemispherotomy is a radical treatment for drug-resistant epilepsy that targets developmental, acquired, and progressive diseases with widespread epileptogenic regions in one cerebral hemisphere. Currently, two main approaches are utilized after repeated improvements: lateral and vertical approaches. With the lateral approach, the surgical field is wide, and the approach to the lateral ventricle is relatively easy. On the other hand, the vertical approach has the advantage of reducing intraoperative bleeding and operating time as the resection line of the radial fiber is short, and understanding the three-dimensional anatomy is relatively easy. The lateral approach is generally used for atrophic lesions, whereas the vertical approach is for hypertrophic lesions. Hemispherotomy is expected to not only suppress epileptic seizures but also improve psychomotor development by protecting the unaffected cerebral hemisphere. However, this method is one of the most invasive surgeries in epilepsy surgery, and it is important to fully consider its indications. Furthermore, understanding the neural fiber pathway is important for actual surgery.

目的:プロ野球投手を対象にメディカルチェックを実施し,疼痛再現性評価での疼痛に関与する理学所見について検討した.対象:2004年から2016年の13年間のシーズン後に,メディカルチェックを実施した,投球時痛を訴えていないプロ野球投手191名を対象とした.方法:調査項目として,当院で利用している野球肩理学所見11項目を評価した.疼痛再現性評価のImpingement testまたはHyper external rotation test(以下HERT)にて,疼痛の再現を認めたものを疼痛群,疼痛の再現を認めなかったものを非疼痛群とし,各項目の異常率を2群間で比較,検討した.結果:疼痛群の異常率が非疼痛群と比較し,有意に高値を示した項目は,関節不安定性評価(以下LOOSE),肩甲帯機能評価のElbow extension test (以下EET),Elbow push test(以下EPT),腱板機能評価の下垂位外旋筋力(以下ER),初期外転筋力(以下SSP)であった.また,肩関節可動域評価のCombined abduction test(以下CAT),Horizontal flexion test(以下HFT)の異常率は,両群ともに高値を示し有意差は示さなかった.考察:プロ野球投手において,肩関節可動域制限は疼痛再現性評価での疼痛の有無に関わらず高頻度で認め,疼痛再現所見は肩関節可動域制限を基盤に,関節不安定性,肩甲帯機能低下,腱板機能低下といった所見が増加することで発生すると考えられた.

鹿児島市で採取したクロアゲハ♀より採卵して得た5卵より,クロアゲハとモンキアゲハの種間雑種と推定される成虫3♂♂を得た。これらの個体はモンキアゲハとクロアゲハの両種の特徴を有し,阿江によって得られた研究室における種間雑種とほぼ同様であった。従って上記のクロアゲハ♀は野外においてモンキアゲハ♂と交配したものと考えられる。

The aim of this study is to make clear the spatial composition and formative process of reclaimed villages by a case study on Ryokai Area facing the Ariake Coast in Yanagawa City. On the Ariake Coast, there are a lot of reclaimed villages located on the same geographical condition, but shapes of these villages are many and various. We attempt to clarify a primary factor of the variety of reclaimed villages, therefore we analyzed the relationship between process of reclamation works and village composition on Ryokai Area. As a result we realized a cause and effect relationship among several factors technical development,agricultural policy and dwelling system.

日本の市民による自国政府を対象とした安全保障問題に関する抗議行動 (安保系抗議行動) は、どのような条件下において発生するだろうか。本論文では、基地政治研究で主張されてきた内容をもとに、在日米軍のプレゼンスの規模、具体的には米軍により利用される軍事基地・施設の規模と、それらに関連して発生する経済的便益の大きさに着目し、これらの要因と安保系抗議行動の発生件数の関係性について2005年から2018年までの全都道府県のデータを用いた計量分析により実証する。加えて、自衛隊の基地・施設の規模を独立変数として組み込むことにより、在日米軍の基地・施設がもたらす影響との比較検討を試みる。 分析の結果、ある地域内部における在日米軍の基地・施設の規模が大きくなるほど、当該地域における安保系抗議行動の発生件数が多くなるということが示唆されたが、他方で、自衛隊の基地・施設の規模が安保系抗議行動の発生件数に影響を与える、という旨の仮説に合致する分析結果を得ることはできなかった。また、在日米軍の基地・施設に関連して発生する経済的便益がこの種の抗議行動の発生件数に影響を与えるという旨の仮説の妥当性には疑義が呈された。

Phylogenetic analysis is one of the useful tools available for revealing the evolution of life on the Earth; however, it has difficulty in principle distinguishing old and new genomes just by comparing phylogenomic trees. To overcome this difficulty, a new method is introduced which utilizes the Earth's history derived from geologic information to trace genomic evolution. This idea is inspired by Darwin's natural selection, and explains how living organisms change with the environment. In other words, life's genome does not change if the environment remains the same. A key is the birthplace of life on Hadean Earth, which is thought to be an ultra-reducing environment with H2 produced in abundance through serpentinization. OD1 is a potential microbe that has survived on the Earth since the Hadean. Its habitat, Hakuba-Happo in Japan, is a unique serpentinite-hosted hydrothermal system on land, and it has avoided evolution by remaining in a super-reducing environment from the Hadean to the present. OD1 is regarded as a “living fossil” of the Hadean microbe. Ultra-reducing environments have disappeared over the Earth's history. How has OD1 survived since the Hadean to the present? A possible scenario is proposed based on Plate Tectonics. OD1 habitats have gone through the following transitions: (1) super-reducing environment in a natural nuclear geyser on a primordial continent in the Hadean; (2) serpentinite-hosted hydrothermal system along a mid-oceanic ridge transform fault during the Archean-Proterozoic; (3) subduction-accretion and escape from oxygenated Phanerozoic ocean floor; and, (4) jacked up by growth of accretionary complexes and taking refuge in a hydrothermal system above a volcanic front. OD1 habitats have been reduced with geological age as free oxygen has increased in the surface environment. OD1 may be a “living microfossil” of the Hadean, making its way continuously through ultra-reducing environments on a tightrope.

Recently there have been accumulating evidences on the mechanism of some emotions supporting human sociality. In this essay, firstly, I point out that humankind’s ultimate strength is the higher and sophisticated sociality. And then, on the basis of recent trends of socio-emotional psychology and behavioral economics, I discuss the function of some emotions as estimator and/or coordinator of the balance of interests and welfares between self and others. Additionally, I mention the nature of shame, sensitizing us to others’ social “eyes” and orienting us towards moral conducts.

Cloud droplet formation is an important process in water cycle between the earth and the atmosphere. In order to investigate the nonsteady growth of cloud droplets due to the condensation of the atmopheric water vapor on (NH4) 2 SO4 particles, a mathematical model has been constructed and the nonsteady growth has been simulated numerically with use of the mathematical model. The mathematical model is constituted by the conservation laws of water mass and heat energy and the state equation of ideal gas. As the speed of time variation of droplet heat QW is very fast compared with that of droplet mass mw, droplet temperature Ta can be treated as in steady state. The equilibrium droplet size ae is dependent on the 3/2 power of the initial radius aso of cloud condensation nucleus (NH4) 2SO4. The larger as0 is, the more the droplet grows in its equilibrium size ae. It takes much time for large condensation nucleus to attain the equilibrium size ae. It also has been cleared that Kelvin's equation is not always applicable to estimate the cloud droplet siz

These days, soft proof, which checks color images of printed matter on a monitor, is widely used in the field of graphic arts. In order to provide high quality soft proofing system, it is necessary to calibrate the tone reproduction curve and the chromaticity of white point of a monitor to desire characteristics and to make an ICC display profile. In such a background, we developed a method to calibrate them with low cost and high quality by visual calibration. This paper reports the principle and calibration accuracy of our method. In general, it is well known to adjust brightness of a continuous tone image with that of a binary image on a monitor for calibrating tone reproduction curve of the monitor. On the other hand, our method adjusts brightness and hue of three continuous tone images to those of binary images. As a result, our method can calibrate nonlinear tone curve of LCD accurately. In addition, our method can be applied to many viewing illumination conditions, because our method adjusts a color of white point of the monitor to that of target paper under a viewing illumination. Three experiments using three different LCDs were done to test the calibration accuracy of our method. The results of the experiment show the monitors calibrated by our method have enough accuracy for soft proof.

要旨: 補聴器がフレイルに与える影響を明らかにすることを目的に, 補聴器導入前と補聴器導入約半年後に基本チェックリスト (Kihon Check List: KCL) を実施し, その変化について検討した。 補聴器装用歴のない60歳以上の補聴器外来初診患者64名において, 補聴器導入前後における KCL 総得点の平均は, 装用前が5.1点, 装用後が4.9点で, 有意な変化は認めなかった。KCL の下位項目である日常生活関連動作, 運動器機能, 低栄養状態, 口腔機能, 閉じこもり, 認知機能, 抑うつ気分も有意な変化は認めず, KCL の質問項目それぞれについての検討で, 質問1(公共交通機関での外出) のみ有意な変化を認めた。KCL 総得点がロバスト方向へ変化した群としなかった群の特性の違いについて検討したところ, 補聴器導入前の KCL 総得点が高得点であること, 良聴耳聴力がよいことが有意にロバスト方向への変化と関連していた。一方, KCL 総得点のフレイル方向への変化の有無における特性は明らかでなかった。

要旨: 高齢期難聴への介入方法を検討するための資料を得る目的で, 通所リハビリテーション利用中の難聴高齢者 (良聴耳 35dB 以上) を対象に補聴器試聴を行った。38例中7例は既に自機を装用中であった。未装用の31例中9例が補聴器試聴を受諾し, 7例が3か月間の試聴を継続して5例が自機購入に至った。既装用群は未装用例と比べ難聴重症度が高かったが, 受諾群と非受諾群の聴力には有意差なく, 悪い条件下の語音の聴取で, 受諾群が非受諾群より聞こえにくさを強く自己認識しており, 補聴器に関心を持つ率も高かった。補聴効果はテレビ音声や会話の聴取に加え, 環境音やことばの超分節的要素の聴取に及び, 言語理解の制限された失語症例においても情緒的な安定や意思疎通の改善として表れた。要介護, 要支援高齢者の聴覚スクリーニングの必要性が示唆されるとともに, 補聴器の試聴さえ受け入れなかった非受諾群を補聴に誘導する方策の検討が次の課題として残された。

This paper aims at examining the process of creation and change of readers' community in the magazine "Jyogaku Sekai". For this purpose, I analyzed the letters from readers, and discussed about the historical transition of their writing and communication style. Through a past quantitative analysis, it became clear that a large change has occurred around 1916. At first, a major function of the readers' column was exchanging information about daily life, postcards, books, and etc. However, around 1916, the function of exchanging information disappeared, and the letters of readers became more fictional, romantic, and daydreaming. A use of pen name, graceful style of writing, and sentimental motif spread among girls, these elements established the friendships of readers, and the romantic community was made by the function trough the magazine. I summarize that the large change has occurred based on the decline in the age of readers, the expansion of female magazine market, and development of girl culture in Taisho era.

本研究の目的は、母親の養育態度に及ぼす子どもの病弱傾向に関する認知の影響について検討することであった。研究の結果、病弱傾向の認知と養育態度の関係については、子どもを病弱だと認知しているほど「責任回避的かかわり」が多く、病弱傾向の認知と「受容的子ども中心的なかかわり」や「統制的かかわり」には相関は認められなかった。さらに、母親の養育態度は、「受容タイプ」「統制願望タイプ」「無関心タイプ」の3つのタイプに分類可能であった。そのうち、「統制願望タイプ」の母親は、他の養育態度パターンの母親よりも、子どもを病弱だと認知している程度が有意に高かった。したがって、子どもの病弱傾向を高く認知している母親は、子どもの活動を過度に制限する一方で、子どもの言いなりになっているという養育パターンの可能性がある。

During the 5th Science, Technology, and Innovation Basic Plan, the Japanese government proposed a novel societal concept -Society 5.0- that promoted a healthcare system characterized by its capability to provide unintrusive, predictive, longitudinal care through the integration of cyber and physical space. The role of Society 5.0 in managing our quality of vision will become more important in the modern digitalized and aging society, both of which are known risk factors for developing dry eye. Dry eye is the most common ocular surface disease encountered in Japan with symptoms including increased dryness, eye discomfort, and decreased visual acuity. Owing to its complexity, implementation of P4 (predictive, preventive, personalized, participatory) medicine in managing dry eye requires a comprehensive understanding of its pathology, as well as a strategy to visualize and stratify its risk factors. Using DryEyeRhythm®, a mobile health (mHealth) smartphone software (app), we established a route to collect holistic medical big data on dry eye, such as the subjective symptoms and lifestyle data for each individual. The studies to date aided in determining the risk factors for severe dry eye, the association between major depressive disorder and dry eye exacerbation, eye drop treatment adherence, app-based stratification algorithms based on symptomology, blink detection biosensoring as a dry eye-related digital phenotype, and effectiveness of app-based dry eye diagnosis support compared to traditional methods. These results contribute to elucidating disease pathophysiology and promoting preventive and effective measures to counteract dry eye through mHealth.
