声道モデルを機械系によって構成することにより、人間の発声機構を再現する試みを行っている。これによってより人間らしい音声の生成が可能になるばかりでなく、"歌う"楽器を作ることができると考えている。本モデルは主に、肺、声帯、声道部、聴覚部から成り、現在はピッチを変化させて、ハミングによる歌声を生成することが可能となっている。ピッチの生成には複雑な声帯振動の解析が必要であるが、ここでは声帯摘出者が用いる人工声帯を使用している。本報告では機械系による声道モデルを紹介し、ピッチの学習アルゴリズムと聴覚フィードバックによる適応制御について述べる。We are constructing a phonetic machine having a vocal chord and a Vocal tract based on mechatronics technology, and have so far developed a pitch generation part as a subsystem for melody synthesis to sing in humming. In the pitch generation, the analysis and mechanical simulation of the behavior of the vocal chords are required. The fluid mechanical system is, however, less stable to make the control difficult. This paper presents a singing instrument system together with an adaptive tuning algorithm of the physical mechanism using an auditory feedback. The mechanical method is considered to be promising to generate more natural voice than algorithmic sound synthesis methods.

Background: The health benefits of bicycling in older adults with mobility limitation (ML) are unclear. We investigated ML and functional capacity of older cyclists by evaluating their instrumental activities of daily living (IADL), intellectual activity, and social function.Methods: On the basis of interviews, 614 community-dwelling older adults (after excluding 63 participants who never cycled) were classified as cyclists with ML, cyclists without ML, non-cyclists with ML (who ceased bicycling due to physical difficulties), or non-cyclists without ML (who ceased bicycling for other reasons). A cyclist was defined as a person who cycled at least a few times per month, and ML was defined as difficulty walking 1 km or climbing stairs without using a handrail. Functional capacity and physical ability were evaluated by standardized tests.Results: Regular cycling was documented in 399 participants, and 74 of them (18.5%) had ML; among non-cyclists, 49 had ML, and 166 did not. Logistic regression analysis for evaluating the relationship between bicycling and functional capacity revealed that non-cyclists with ML were more likely to have reduced IADL and social function compared to cyclists with ML. However, logistic regression analysis also revealed that the risk of bicycle-related falls was significantly associated with ML among older cyclists.Conclusions: The ability and opportunity to bicycle may prevent reduced IADL and social function in older adults with ML, although older adults with ML have a higher risk of falls during bicycling. It is important to develop a safe environment for bicycling for older adults.

ビタミンB1欠乏は急性心不全,末梢神経障害,ウェルニッケ脳症など重篤な病態をきたしうるため,プライマリケア医が認識しておくべき重要な病態と考える.今回,我々は胃切除後にWernicke脳症を発症した症例を経験したため文献的考察を加え報告する.患者はアルコール多飲歴,偏食はないが,7年前に胃全摘術(Roux-Y 再建)を受けている.入院時,回転性めまい,複視,歩行障害,下肢の感覚低下を認め,腰椎疾患やフィッシャー症候群などを疑い検査を行ったが特徴的な所見が得られなかった.第40病日に意識レベルの低下と小脳症状,眼球運動障害の増悪を認めた.頭部MRIで中脳水道や小脳虫部に左右対称性の高信号域を認め,Wernicke脳症として治療を開始した.治療開始前の血清ビタミンB1濃度は低値であった.治療開始後,意識レベル,眼球運動障害は改善したが,呼吸筋の筋力低下が出現し,肺炎にて第60病日に永眠された.胃切除後の患者に点滴を行う際にはビタミンB1を補充したものを投与するべきである.

Himawari-8, a next-generation geostationary meteorological satellite that has been in operation since July 2015, incorporates significant improvements in resolution, scan frequency, and number of bands, bringing new capabilities to weather forecasting. By taking advantage of the availability of high-frequency data with high spatial resolution, an ensemble Kalman filter implemented with a mesoscale regional model assimilated rapid-scan atmospheric motion vectors (RS-AMVs) from Himawari-8. Data assimilation and ensemble forecast experiments were conducted for a heavy rainfall event that occurred in September 2015 in the Kanto and Tohoku regions of Japan. The results showed that the inclusion of RS-AMVs improved precipitation scores, especially for weak and moderate rainfall. In addition, the subsequent model forecast simulated successfully the band of heavy rainfall. Ensemble-based probabilistic forecasts showed that when RS-AMVs were assimilated, the results captured the occurrence of torrential rainfall with a relatively high probability. The ensemble-based correlation analysis indicated that the strong rainfall was related to advection of moisture at low to mid levels and moisture flux convergence at lower levels. Simulations with a higher resolution model initialized by nested data assimilation showed that the assimilation of frequent RS-AMVs improved the forecast results.

OECDによるドナウ川の水質データの経年変化に関し,欠測データを含むデータの解析が可能な多階層型ニューラルネットワークシミュレーション(CQSAR)法を用いて,欧州の河川再自然化政策等による河川の水質浄化の有効性およびダム建設の影響を検討した.<BR>ドイツ圏で施行されている河川再自然化や水質浄化政策はT-P値の改善にはあまり効果がなかったが,DO,BOD値を改善していた.特に,ドナウ川のハンガリー流域でのBOD値に浄化傾向がみられた.ドナウ川のBOD値から自然浄化作用が河川浄化策の施行により回復してきていると判断できた. <BR>スロヴァキアとハンガリー間のドナウ川に設けられたダム(ガブチコボ・ナジュマロシュ・ダム)の影響は,DO値は悪化される傾向にあり,逆にBOD値は改善される傾向にあった.また,ダム建設によりダム下流のドナウ川のハンガリー流域でのDO値やBOD値が,ダム上流域の水質と関係しなくなったことが明らかになった.

青森県弘前市にて2012年6月から7月にかけて1つがいのアリスイ <i>Jynx torquilla</i> が繁殖した.孵化から巣立ちまでの巣の様子をカメラのインターバルタイマー機能で撮影した.一眼レフカメラに300mmレンズを装着し,15秒に1回のタイムラプスで1日あたり約10時間の撮影を行なった.照度不足と風による振動は撮影成功率を低下させた.6月22日に孵化直後のアリスイのヒナ2羽がみられ,7月13日に1羽が巣立った.育雛期後半は餌を咥えていた写真の枚数はピーク時よりも減ったが,コムクドリに対する警戒と思われる入り口から外を警戒している写真が増えた.餌ははじめアリの繭だったが,途中からアリの成虫や卵も加わった.1回に運んでくる餌量は途中で横ばいになった.
