我々は、ベクトル空間法を用いて、計測した多変量な情報を話し手聞き手の双方にとって理解しやすい表現に置き換えて出力する手法を提案した。そして、評価システムとして、温度や湿度などの気象情報を「さわやか」「うっとおしい」などの、日常我々が気象情報を他者に伝える時に使う感覚的に理解しやすい表現に置き換えて出力するシステム、Weather Reporterを実装した。本システムは、二つの表現を接続して出力することができるが、これまでは全ての組合せを順接接続詞、「そして」で接続していたため、共起するとは考えにくい組せの排除や語義に応じた接続詞の使い分けが課題となっていた。そこで、実際にはどのような接続形態が在り得るのかをアンケート調査を行って調査し、二つの表現のテンプレートベクトル間の非類似度を求め、複数の候補から接続詞を自動決定する手法を考案し、実装し、評価したので報告する。In previous research, we proposed an approach for describing multivariate environmental information as it might be expressed by humans using easy to understand day-to-day phrases. In its prototype, the Weather Reporter took meteorological data as input and produces expressive phrases such as "refreshing" or "muggy" as output. This system could also conjoin two phrases such as "hot and muggy", but the first version of the reporter could only assign the conjunction 'and' regardless of the meaning of the two phrases. Hence, we conducted a survey to find out how people typically conjoin two meteorological phrases. This paper reports on the findings from the survey and also proposes a new dissimilarity measuring algorithm that automatically assigns the conjunction additive 'and' or adversative 'but' to conjoin two sentences depending on the meanings of the two phrases that have been selected by the system to be combined.

This article presents an introduction to generalized additive models using R for data of mutually exclusive groups and a set of predictor variables. Illustrated herein are a number of resampling methods, that is cross-validation when selecting the optimum smoothing parameter, and bootstrapping applications that implement the bootstrap-based information when using the deviance in order to summarize the measure of goodness-of-fit on generalized additive models. The cross-validation is also adapted for influential analysis in order to verify the appropriateness of the model and to detect observations that do not agree with the rest of the data.

In this paper, the possibility of the biological monitoring by <i>Tradescantia</i> for radiation effluents from a power reactor site is considered. Data for analysis were obtained through the experimental study which had been conducted by Expert Committee on Biological Effects of Environmental Radiation and carried out from 1979 to 1981 near to Takahama Nuclear Power Plant in Fukui Prefecture. Measurements had been taken on the mutation frequency in <i>Tradescantia</i> stamen hairs and environmental factors including evaluated radioactive airborne effluents, natural airborne radioactivity, weather conditions and air pollution indices. This paper is coupled with Yamaguchi <i>et al.</i> (1985); while the latter tackles the problem, mainly by comparing the observed (calculated) concentration levels of radioactive effluents with biological thresholds, this paper presents the results of statistical data analysis which revealed the following: (1) There is highly significant negative correlation between temperature before blooming and mutation frequency. (2) After adjusting the effect of temperature, there is no significant association between radioactive effluents and mutation frequency.

Until recently few research efforts have been directed toward the application of seismic isolation systems in large-span spatial structures. This is due to the light weight and relatively long natural period of this type of structure which makes it difficult to apply the commonly used isolation system composed of laminated rubber isolators and dampers. In this paper, the use of a seismic isolation system with sliding mechanism is proposed for large-span spatial structures. In order to confirm its effectiveness in reducing the seismic response, shaking table tests are performed using a small-scale arch model supported by the base structures. It is confirmed that the proposed seismic isolation system is effective in reducing substantially the response due to horizontal ground motions. It is also demonstrated that the response of the arch is significantly influenced by the dynamic properties of the base structures, but can be well predicted by the dynamic response analysis considering the arch-base structure interaction.

[Purpose] This study investigated the effects of low-level laser phototherapy on hand and forearm fractures. [Subjects and Methods] This was a one-group pretest-posttest design study. We recruited 9 patients with hand or forearm fracture, and they received diode laser treatment (808 nm, 10 Hz, 60 mW). Evaluation of pain on a visual analog scale (VAS) and radiographic assessments were made pre-intervention, post-intervention, and at two weeks of follow-up. [Results] There were significant differences in VAS scores between pre-intervention and post-intervention and between pre-intervention and 2 weeks of follow up. In the radiographic assessment, the percentage of detectable cortical bridging also increased significantly after phototherapy. [Conclusions] We consider that low-level laser phototherapy is effective for human bone healing and pain relief.

ブラウジング支援のための情報推薦手法として、「関連ページ推薦」を提案する。関連ページ推薦とは閲覧中のWebページと関連が深いと思われるWebページを推薦する手法であり、この手法によりユーザによりパーソナライズされたブラウジングを提供することができると考える。ページ間の関連の深さはユーザの履歴を分析することによって算出される。本研究では、ユーザの閲覧履歴が林構造にマッピング可能であるということ、またタブブラウザにおいて異なるタブで同時に出現するページの間には共起性があるという仮説に基づいた関連度の算出法を提案し、さらに行った実験の結果を考察することで今後の課題、方針を示す。
