The purpose of this study was to compare the kinematic characteristics of the upper body between baseball tee batting and pitched ball batting in order to gain basic knowledge for improvement of batting skill. Ten male collegiate baseball players (age: 20.7±1.1 yr; height: 1.75±0.05 m; body mass: 76.3±7.1 kg; athletic career: 12.7±2.7 yr) participated. They performed 2 kinds of batting: tee batting (TB) and machine-pitch batting (MB) using a pitching machine (approximate ball speed 33.3 m/s), which were set at middle ball height for the strike zone. Three-dimensional coordinate data were acquired with a motion capture system. Kinematic variables such as maximum bat-head speed, swing time, bat angle, joint angles of the upper limbs, and segment angle of the upper trunk were calculated. Differences between TB and MB were analyzed statistically using paired t-test (p<0.05). The maximum bat-head speed was significantly greater in TB than in MB, but swing times divided into 2 phases showed no significant differences between MB and TB. In the first half of the swing, the bat inclination angle was significantly larger in MB than in TB. The joint angles of the barrel-side shoulder abduction, knob-side shoulder adduction and internal rotation were significantly larger in MB than in TB, and those of the barrel-side shoulder internal rotation and individual elbow pronations were significantly larger in TB than in MB. The clockwise rotational angle of the upper trunk was significantly larger in TB than in MB. In the last half of the swing, the joint angles of the barrel-side shoulder abduction, knob-side shoulder flexion and adduction were significantly larger in MB than in TB, and that of the knob-side elbow pronation was significantly larger in TB than in MB. The changes in upper body movement in MB affected the radius of rotation of the bat about the vertical axis to control the bat easily. The movements in the last half of the swing largely resulted from those in the first half of the swing, and did not contribute to timing adjustment. These results indicate that the initial configuration of the bat and upper limbs, and movements at the beginning of the bat swing contribute to the timing adjustment of the bat for a pitched ball. The results of the present study suggest that it could be useful to pay attention to the movement of the bat and upper body in the first half of the swing as TB practice in order to improve timing adjustment.

Propofol is an anesthetic agent suspended in an emulsion system that includes egg yolk lecithin and soybean oil, because of which, there is concern about the use of propofol in patients allergic to these substances. We examined the association between propofol administration and incidence of adverse events in dogs with allergy to egg yolk lecithin and soybean oil. On the basis of the findings of an allergen-specific immunoglobulin E (IgE) test, 14 dogs with high levels (high-IgE group) and 7 dogs with low levels (normal-IgE group) of IgE were selected. Following intravenous administration of propofol, the incidence of anaphylactic reactions and plasma histamine concentrations under general anesthesia maintained with isoflurane throughout surgery were compared between the two groups. The frequency of anaphylactic reactions and plasma histamine concentrations were compared by the chi-square test and Student t-test, respectively. The statistical significance for both tests was set at P<0.05. In the high- and normal-IgE groups, the average frequencies of anaphylactic reactions after propofol administration were 21.4 and 14.3%, and the mean plasma histamine concentrations were 167.9 ± 94.5 nM and 65.7 ± 40.3 nM, respectively. Animals of neither groups experienced shock-like symptoms. These results revealed that propofol might be relatively safe, although careful perioperative anesthesia monitoring and standby protocols are required when using propofol in dogs with a history of allergic diseases or high chicken- or soybean-specific IgE levels.

とくに1990年代以降, 多様な分野で社会的排除に関する研究が活性化し, 分析の視座が揃いつつある. そして, 「排除から包摂へ」という方向性が提示されている.本稿では, 社会システム理論に依拠することで, 包括的に近代社会における包摂/排除の形成を考察し, 社会政策学的な関心から行われている研究の不備を補う. そこで, 社会システム理論の観点から包摂問題を論じたT. パーソンズとN. ルーマンの理論を検討する. 両者の議論の吟味を経て, 機能分化した近代社会は, 包摂原理 (形式上の包摂原理) によって存立しており, そのもとで, 組織が排除・選抜を行うことで, 集合的な成果を確保し, 存続していること (作動上の包摂原理) が明らかとなる.ルーマンは, 排除を主題化しつつ, パーソンズ理論の不備, 欠点に対処した. とはいえ, 作動上の論理に即して包摂/排除と平等/不平等とを直接的に関連づけていないという問題点がルーマンの議論に関して指摘できる. そこで本稿では, 機能としての平等/不平等の区別に着目したうえで, 排除のコミュニケーションを問題化し, これが包摂/排除の調整 (調整上の包摂原理) に関与することを近代における包摂原理の複数性に即して考える.近代社会は, 形式上の包摂原理を参照して, 作動上の包摂原理を反省し, 存続に関わる包摂/排除を調整することで, 持続可能性を強化すると最終的に結論づける.

本学の授業評価アンケートでは、学生からの意見を求めるために、各授業について自由記述を求めてきた。平成25 年度は通年で3,000 件を超える自由記述が得られている。しかし、これらの多数のデータを概観し、客観的に全体的な傾向を把握することは極めて困難である。また、要約しようにも分析者の恣意的・主観的な解釈となってしまう危険性からは逃れ難い。そこで、こうした危険性を可能な限り回避すべく、本稿では、「テキストマイニング」と呼ばれる手法を用いた分析を行った。①テキストから自動的に語を取り出し、頻出語を確認した上で、②それらの語の共起関係を探ることを通して、恣意的になりやすい手作業を極力廃した分析・要約を試みた。

高階依存型理論の研究はMartin-L"of型理論にさかのぼるが,自然言語への応用についてはRanta(1994)などがあり,その後も様々な拡張が行われている. 自然言語の意味論は高階依存型理論によって解決しうる問題がいくつかあるが,本研究は高階依存型理論を用いてCategorial Grammarを拡張する手法を提案する.

Background:Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) has become the standard of care for management of high-risk patients with aortic stenosis. Limited data is available regarding the performance of TAVI in patients with native aortic valve regurgitation (NAVR).Methods and Results:We performed a systematic review from 2002 to 2016. The primary outcome was device success as per VARC-2 criteria. Secondary endpoints included procedural complications, and 30-day and 1-year mortality rates. A total of 175 patients were included from 31 studies. Device success was reported in 86.3% of patients – with device failure driven by moderate aortic regurgitation (AR ≥3+) and/or need for a second device. Procedural complications were rare, with no procedural deaths, myocardial infarctions or annular ruptures reported. Procedural safety was acceptable with a low 30-day incidence of stroke (1.5%). The 30-day and 1-year overall mortality rates were 9.6% and 20.0% (cardiovascular death, 3.8% and 10.1%, respectively). Patients receiving 2nd-generation valves demonstrated similar safety profiles with greater device success compared with 1st-generation valves (96.2% vs. 78.4%). This was driven by the higher incidence of second-valve implantation (23.4% vs. 1.7%) and significant paravalvular leak (8.3% vs. 0.0%).Conclusions:TAVI demonstrates acceptable safety and efficacy in high-risk patients with severe NAVR. Second-generation valves may afford a similar safety profile with improved device success. Dedicated studies are needed to definitively establish the efficacy of TAVI in this population.

The numerical analysis on the flight stability of the underwater projectiles are performed using computational fluid dynamics code which consists of gas/liquid phases analysis, 2D calculation method. The nose shape effect on the underwater flight stability is conducted. The ogival nose, the flat nose and the spike nose are used for the nose shapes. The static stability is determined by the direction of pressure on the projectile. The pressure on the flat nose makes projectile stable, although pressure on the ogival nose and the horizontal area of flat nose makes projectile unstable. The spike nose is statically unstable, however it is possible to increase the flight stability by changing the spike radius and the spike length. When the part of projectile gets out of the bubble and contacts with water, the water pressure acts as restoring force, which lead to improve the flight stability. This phenomenon is called ‘Tail slapping effect’. Tail slapping effect works most effectively when only backward of the center of gravity of the projectile contacts with water. The Effects is canceled as the angle of attack increases and the front of the projectile contacts with water. As a result, the improvement of stability due to the tail slapping effect is limited.

With the rise of big data analytics, learning analytics has become a major trend for improving the quality of education. Learning analytics is a methodology for helping students to succeed in the classroom; the principle is to predict student's academic performance at an early stage and thus provide them with timely assistance. Accordingly, this study used multiple linear regression (MLR), a popular method of predicting students' academic performance, to establish a prediction model. Moreover, we combined MLR with principal component analysis (PCA) to improve the predictive accuracy of the model. Traditional MLR has certain drawbacks; specifically, the coefficient of determination (R2) and mean square error (MSE) measures and the quantile-quantile plot (Q-Q plot) technique cannot evaluate the predictive performance and accuracy of MLR. Therefore, we propose predictive MSE (pMSE) and predictive mean absolute percentage correction (pMAPC) measures for determining the predictive performance and accuracy of the regression model, respectively. Analysis results revealed that the proposed model for predicting students' academic performance could obtain optimal pMSE and pMAPC values by using six components obtained from PCA.

本稿は,携帯電話や位置に基づくサービス等で取得される動体データを用いて,その解析に基づく観光動態把握と活用に関して,分析事例なども交えて概説する。まず,観光分析の観点を整理したうえで,携帯電話基地局における動体データ,スマートフォンアプリケーションを用いた動体データ,および,SNSデータ等の性質などを紹介する。次に,観光庁の訪日外客の動態調査で行われた分析事例を紹介する。加えて,分析における問題も指摘する。さらに,目的地性指標を用いた動体データの分析結果を示し,人間の行動モデルの一つであるLevy Flightモデルと一致することを紹介する。
