Pattern practice is said to be boring due to the form-based instruction. However, our experiment, which blended skill-oriented English instruction with mim-mem-based practice, showed that this practice is more likely to motivate learners with lower proficiencies, especially integrative and intrinsic motivation. It seems that this effect was brought about by the acquisition of learning strategy such as repetition and recitation.

AbstractX-ray diffraction line profile analysis(LPA)assesses dislocation status, which is highly correlated with mechanical properties. In addition to dislocation density, a measured line profile contains information such as crystallite size, dislocation character, and dislocation arrangement parameters, which can be analyzed by the LPA. In particular, dislocation density significantly impacts metallic materials'mechanical properties, such as yield stress. Examples of research examining the relationship between its quantification and mechanical properties are presented. We also provided an example in which the dislocation structure formed by plastic deformation can be characterized by parameters other than the dislocation density.

【目的】本研究は病院給食におけるハラール対応の現状を調査し,イスラーム教など宗教や食の信念をもつ患者の受け入れ体制の整備や対応の基礎資料とすることを目的とした。【方法】中国地方A県内の病院161施設に所属する管理栄養士を対象に,2019年12月,病院での個別対応食に関するアンケートを郵送し自己記入式アンケート調査で実施した。122施設(回収率75.8%)から回答を得てすべて解析に用いた。解析はχ2 検定,またはFisherの直接法で行った。【結果】宗教への個別対応の実施率は30.3%で病床数が多い病院ほど実施している傾向があった。ハラール対応経験のある割合は,調査対象全体の14.8%であり,既存献立の禁忌食品を除去・代替えして提供する病院が多かった。無効回答を除く120例のうちでハラールについて知っている,または聞いたことがあると回答した者は87.5%であり,ハラールを知っていると答えた者は全く知らないと答えた者と比較して,留意すべき食品として「豚肉」「アルコール飲料」「アルコール類」を選択する者が有意に高く,「醤油」については選択する者が高い傾向であった。【結論】今回,対象とした病院管理栄養士のハラールの認知度は高い一方で,給食における対応経験のある病院は少なかった。ハラール対応の具体的方法に関して,施設間での情報共有や学習の機会を持つことが重要と考えられた。

最近、研究と芸術は少し似ていると思うことがある。研究発表や論文に、その研究者の独自の個性(科学的センス)が滲み出ており、芸術作品のように新しいイメージや心地良い感動を与えてくれるものがある。このような感動を与えてくれる“優れた論文”を書ける研究者は少ない。この“優れた論文”を書けるような“科学的センス”は磨きたいと思っている。

多発する自然災害や新型コロナウイルス感染症の流行により,多数の重症患者が同時に発生する危険性が高まっている。日本集中治療医学会の危機管理委員会は,ICUの災害対応の指針とするべく「災害時の集中治療室 日頃の準備から発災後まで─ICU対応ガイダンス」を2020年に発刊した。しかし,本邦のICUでの災害準備体制や,実際の多数患者発生時の対応状況は明らかでない。今回我々は,本邦のICUでの災害に対する準備状況や,東京オリンピック・パラリンピック期間中の新型コロナウイルス感染症による多数患者発生時に全国のICU が行った対応を調査するために,アンケート調査を行った。その結果,災害準備としての,段階的なサージ・キャパシティの設定,ICU拡張や複数ICUの統合運用の計画,災害時のICU 入退室基準の設定,ICU以外の職員の応援体制の確立など,多くの項目で不十分である現状が明らかになった。さらに,多数患者発生時の,ICU拡張や統合運用,入退室基準の変更などの施行率は低く,柔軟な対応の難しさと,事前準備の重要性が改めて示唆された。

2019年に、真空技術の一般用語の定義を規定したISO規格が38年ぶりに改正された。日本表面真空学会 規格標準化委員会と日本真空工業会 規格標準委員会が合同で組織する規格標準合同検討委員会では、このISO規格の改正に対応するため、JIS Z 8126-1の改正作業を行った。改正されたJISは、2021年9月に発行される。気体の標準状態や高真空の定義など、いくつか重要な改正点があるため紹介する。

前頭前野の損傷では, 特定の記憶障害は生じるが, エピソード記憶の障害である健忘症候群は生じない。前頭前野損傷で生じる特定の記憶障害は, 一言でいうとワーキングメモリの障害であり, 短期記憶システム内にコードされた情報 (表象) の保持とその処理・操作の障害である。前頭前野の障害では健忘が生じないが, 長期記憶のコード化と検索におけるある特殊な側面の障害, すなわち, 時間的順序の記憶障害, 虚記憶の亢進, 展望記憶の障害などが認められることが示唆されている。前頭前野損傷で見られるワーキングメモリの障害に関連して, 動物で見られる前頭葉ドーパミンD1 受容体刺激とワーキングメモリ反応との間の逆転 U 型曲線が, ヒトにおいて, 前頭葉ドーパミン D1 受容体結合能とワーキングメモリ関連の遂行機能検査の成績との間でも認められることを示した研究を紹介した。

Objectives: Declining physical capacity caused by aging increases the risk of occupational falls on the same level and to lower levels. In emerging countries in Asia, the development of a program for older farmers to assess their risk of occupational falls is valuable. The current study aimed to evaluate the relationship between physical capacity and experience of occupational falls among middle-aged and older Thai farmers.Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional survey of 419 Thai farmers aged 40 years and over during March and April, 2021. For the assessment of physical capacity, we used the Self-Check Risk Assessment of Falls and Other Accidents in the Workplace tool developed in Japan, consisting of five physical test components. Multiple logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic curves were used to analyze the data.Results: The results revealed that 25.5% of participants had experienced occupational falls in the past 12 months. For each of the five physical test components, there was no significant association between physical capacity and experience of occupational falls. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve was less than 0.60 for each of the five physical test components. A similar trend was observed when the analysis was limited to participants aged 50 years and over.Conclusions: The current study did not reveal any associations between physical capacity in each test and experience of occupational falls among middle-aged and older Thai farmers. Because the mechanisms underlying occupational falls are complex, multiple intervention approaches may be important for preventing accidents.

One of the objects of consciousness research is the attention, which has the property of inhibitingirrelevant information and emphasizing the processing of relevant information. It has been proposed thatclaustrum (CLA) determines which information to direct selective attention to in a top-down manner. Amodel in which the CLA regulates attentional selection from higher-order regions to sensory regions wasproposed. The CLA-mediated neuronal connections can be assumed to be a counter stream structure, butreciprocal connections between the CLA and cortical and higher order regions have been identified. The antibacterial activity of garlic powder was examined against Bacillus anthracis using agar plate cultivation and test tube methods. On the agar plate test, 1-5% garlic powder inhibited the growth of B. anthracis and Escherichia coli O 157 used as references. A 1% water solution of garlic powder in the test tube method killed B. anthracis at 107 cfu/mL within 3h of treatment at room temperature. A number of intestinal bacteria in a BALB/c mouse decreased after the oral administration of 1 mL of 1% garlic powder solution once a day for 3 d. These results suggest that the oral administration of garlic powder is effective against pathogenic bacteria invasion into the intestine as an infection.

吉井栄治(一九一三~没年不詳)は、将棋界においては朝日新聞社の将棋記者として、また、観戦記者として名を残している。観戦記者としては、『朝日新聞』において「栄」の名義で名人戦の観戦記を九本、順位戦の観戦記を六十二本。『週刊文春』において本名で名将戦の観戦記を十八本書いた。そんな吉井は元々作家志望であり、「北風」「微笑」の二作品で第二十三回直木賞の候補となっている。なかでも「北風」は、関西の将棋界を題材にした将棋小説である。そんな将棋と文学とを行き来した吉井の人物像を、今回は大阪府立高津中学の同級であった織田作之助(一九一三~一九四七)の書簡から感じ取りたい。『定本織田作之助全集第八巻』(文泉堂書店、一九七六年)に収録されている書簡において、吉井が出てくる書簡が残っているのは「杉山平一氏宛」「白崎礼三氏宛」「品川力氏宛」「吉井栄治氏宛」の四名である。順番に見ていく。

免疫不全関連リンパ増殖性疾患は,一過性のリンパ節腫脹から悪性リンパ腫までを含む包括的な概念であり,WHO(World Health Organization)分類(改訂第4版)においては,免疫不全の原因に基づいた分類が提唱されている.EBウイルス(Epstein-Barr virus:EBV)が発症に関与することが多く,悪性度は組織型により大きく異なる.臓器移植や自己免疫疾患に対する免疫抑制薬の使用頻度の増加,HIV(human immunodeficiency virus)感染者の増加,加齢に伴う免疫能の低下に伴い,臨床現場では本疾患の重要性が増している.

イタリアの稲作の現状とそれを支えている潅漑システム, 並びに圃場の水管理について紹介した。北部イタリアの稲作地帯にはカヴール水路を中心とした潅漑システムがあり, ポー川の水と, アルプスの永河地帯から流下する諸河川の水とを水源にしている。氷管理は水利組合が行っている。圃場では田越し潅漑であるが, 排水にも注意が払われており, 均平や排水溝, 落水期間の延長などが行われている。
