The sable is an important animal for fur trade in the world since the ancient time in Eurasia. Therefore,it is important to review the names for the sables in various languages in Eurasia to investigate the transmission of words for the sables. In the present paper, to give basic information for the transmission and transformation of the words for the sable in Eurasia, words for the sable and 3 other species of marten (Martes sp.), weasels, and squirrels in Eurasian languages were investigated. In East Asia, the sable is called in various words. The sable was called "furuki" (or fuluki) in ancient Japan (ca. 8 to 13 c.). It is called “hoinu" -like words in Ainu language,"dambi" with modifiers or other words in Korean, "bulgan"-like words in Mongolic languages,and "segep" -like words in Tungusic languages, and "diao" with modifiers in Chinese. In the regions of central-western Eurasia where the sable is (was) distributed,the sable is called in words of "bulgan"-like words in Mongolic languages, those of "kish"-like words in Turkic languages, "nukse"-like words in Finno-Ugric languages, and "sobol'" in Russian. In Iranian languages, the sable is fundamentally called in "samur". The word "samur" is spread in central-western Asia and southeastern Europe. In northern-western Europe,the sable is called in "sobol"-like words. In Eurasian languages, martens are sometimes called in the words related with squirrels. Especially,it is note worthy that squirrels are called "uluki" -like words in Tungusic languages.

本実践研究は、 ASD 児を持つ自閉症が疑われる母子家庭の母親が示す育児・家事が行えないという問題に対して、面接を通して支援を行った経過を報告している。[方法]まず、母親に家庭において期待される母親役割(家事・育児)を確認した。そして、面接を通して、現在行えていない家事・育児をリストアップし、それらを目標に家事・育児の遂行の記録をしてもらった。さらに、行うことが難しい項目について、課題分析を行い、ステップシートを作成し、それに基づいて家庭で取り組んでもらった。[結果]家事・育児のいくつかの項目について、記録開始時から面接を通して徐々に遂行率が高まった。また、「掃除をする」について、課題分析を行い、ステップシートにしたところ、当初0 ~15%であった遂行率が、57 ~100%に上昇した。社会的妥当性についても、本人、叔母ともにほとんどの項目で肯定的な評価をしていた。[考察]家事・育児の遂行率について、面接を通していくつかの項目で改善が認められた。しかし、改善が認められなかった項目については、子どもが発達障害児であることや母親本人の特性を踏まえた支援を行う必要性が示唆された。発達障害が疑われる親、発達障害児の親、母子家庭などの状態にある母親の家事・育児への支援に関して、これまで検討した研究は少なかったが、本報告により支援の有効性が示唆された。

Movie theaters in the silent era had a feature as a concert hall. Especially in Japan in the Taisho era, they were central places where ordinary people heard Western music. Though they are important case for Japanese receptive study of Western music, how film audiences received it had scarcely been investigated. This study, focusing on some theaters in Tokyo especially around 1920 and 1927, tries to show their receptions of Western music. First three sections consider on the audiences’ columns in the pamphlets issued by one of the main movie theaters, Teikokukan in Asakusa. They show that audiences were so interested in Western music which was frequently played as intermission music that, when the same music was used for film accompaniment, it sometimes gained audiences’ attention more than the film it was used for. But until 1927, musical medleys had gradually gained popularity as a new form of intermission music. The popularity was based on each tunes’ associative images which had been formed in audience through their repetitive use in film accompaniment. The peculiar associations formed in the movie theaters gave birth to a unique musical practice.

Brown adipose tissue (BAT) is a specialized tissue for non-shivering thermogenesis (NST) after cold exposure. Although BAT research has long been limited mostly in small rodents, the rediscovery of metabolically active BAT in adult humans has dramatically promoted the translational studies on BAT in health and diseases. In recent years, it has become clear that BAT cross-talks with some peripheral tissues and controls their functions and systemic homeostasis of energy and metabolic substrates. Moreover, it has been found that BAT contributes to NST after nutrient intake as well as cold exposure. Thus, BAT is a metabolic regulator beyond thermogenesis and a target against obesity and metabolic syndrome. This is supported by discovering that various paracrine and endocrine factors are secreted from BAT, called as BATkines. However, there is still few information about the genetic and environmental factors that determine the activity and amount of human BAT. Here, we review our current understanding on the pathophysiology of human BAT, including its seasonal and diurnal variations.

通常学級におけるアスペルガー障害児童の学習参加を標的として、機能的アセスメントに基づく自己管理手続きの効果を検討した。研究1では、インタビューおよび行動観察を通じて離席等の問題行動の機能を推定し、その結果に基づいて支援計画を立案した。支援計画はおもに1)個別課題の提示、2)代替行動の教示、3)課題従事に対する自己管理手続きの導入によって構成された。自己管理手続きを導入し、適切な行動および代替行動を自己記録の対象としたことにより、対象児の離席は顕著に減少したが、課題従事に改善はみられなかった。そこで、研究2では自己記録の対象を個別課題の正答数へと変更し、その効果を検討した。行動的産物である正答数を自己記録の対象とすることにより、正答数だけでなく、正答にいたるために必要な課題従事も増加した。これらの結果から、通常学級における効果的な自己管理手続きの適用方法が検討された。

This paper overviews today's status of university research administrators (URAs) in Japan and provides a conceptual framework of their roles to promote a comprehension of diversity of URAs. Firstly, we investigated multifarious backgrounds of demands for URAs. Secondly, we confirmed diversified roles of current URAs from a review of a nation-wide questionnaire inquiry and an original survey of recruit documents. These examinations reveal such diversity follows organizational demands and major universities request URAs to be multifunctional professionals. To this end, we provided a model of acquisition and utilization of research resources and illustrated relationship between the model and functions of URAs. Our framework will aid to understand the difference of their functions among universities and to design appropriate mandates of URAs.

We here report the clinical features of three patients presenting with isolated cerebellar nodulus infarction. All suddenly developed nausea, vomiting and walking difficulty. Two experienced horizontal, to-and-fro vertigo. On admission, two could not walk. Motion exacerbated nausea and vomiting for three patients. None of them showed typical cerebellar signs, including dysarthria, dysmetria, or decomposition. Nystagmus was lacking in two. For all three patients, diffusion-weighted image of MRI revealed an isolated, small, high-intensity lesion in the cerebellar nodulus. Symptoms spontaneously resolved over a few days with no residual signs. It is now known that isolated vertigo, or “pseudovestibular syndrome”, without limb ataxia or dysarthria can occur following cerebellar infarction, especially those in the PICA region. A number of recent reports rate that the same syndrome can also be caused by infarction localized at the cerebellar nodulus. This suggests that the cerebellar nodulus must be involved with the vestibular system. Horizontal to-and-fro vertigo might be characteristic of nodular infarction. We believe MRI is necessary for every patient who presents with sudden-onset nausea, vomiting and walking difficulty, even without nystagmus, rotatory vertigo, or limb ataxia.

In this report, finite difference schemes in staggered and collocated grid systems are considered in light of the analytical requirements that were discussed in the first report. The standard second-order accurate finite difference scheme with divergence form in a staggered grid system is proper. Proper second-order accurate advective and skew-symmetric forms have been proposed in the staggered grid system. Existing fourth-order accurate convective schemes in a staggered grid system are not proper. Proper higher-order accurate finite difference schemes in a staggered grid system are proposed. This is novel because higher-order staggered grid schemes that conserve momentum and kinetic energy simultaneously do not previously appear in the literature. The pressure term is not conservative in the kinetic energy equation in the collocated grid system, although we can construct proper-second and fourth-order accurate convective schemes in this system.

A single specimen (166.0 mm standard length) of Peristedion riversandersoni (Alcock, 1894) (Teleostei: Peristediidae), previously recorded in Japanese waters from off Toyama Prefecture in the Sea of Japan, the Pacific coast from Ibaraki to Miyazaki prefectures, and the East China Sea, was recently collected from off Iwate Prefecture, northern Japan. This specimen representing the northernmost record for P. riversandersoni is described herein. In addition, coloration of fresh and preserved specimens of P. riversandersoni are emphasized as newly recognized diagnostic characters for this species based on a comparative examination of 29 specimens of P. riversandersoni, including the Iwate specimen, with 70 specimens of Peristedion orientale Temminck and Schlegel, 1843.
